This is the first time I had lunch here. I came with two friends who still live in Honolulu. The meal was great, we chose the $28.95 meal and it was delicious and large servings. We had a takeout bag!!! The service was amazing and quick and pleasant. The ambiance is very clean and for a Friday, it was pretty busy for our 11 AM reservations. If you want to add this location for your Korean cuisine, give them a try! read more

Enjoyed my birthday dinner here! I wanted Korean bbq, and this place did not disappoint! Meat was fresh and so delish! Loved all of the sides and especially the cold noodle dish! So much food! It was worth the price. Plus staff was super nice and parking in the back. Can't wait to come back and enjoy other dishes ! read more

I made a reservation visited this restaurant with my friends and girlfriend (now wife) back in April of this year (2023) and were blown away by the cleanliness of the facilities, friendliness of the staff, and high quality of the food. Our server who was a nice lady ensured our party was comfortable and cooked the meat for us and started a genuine, pleasant conversation with us. The meat is high quality and delivered fresh daily, according to the restaurant. We could taste the freshness in the beef and various soups and banchans. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a high-quality (a la carte) Korean BBQ experience in Hawaii. Will try to visit again in the future! read more

Enjoyed lunch at Hangang in Niu Valley. Excellent food! The quality of the banchan and kalbi was superb. The Kim chee was crunchy and tasty; so fresh and not too spicy. The kalbi was tender and delicious. Located in Niu Valley with ample free parking. We sat in a booth that would comfortably fit 4. The booths are high and allow for private and intimate dining. The walls are dark gray and the lighting was comfortable; not too bright. Restaurant is clean. Each table has a drawer where you can grab extra napkins and chopsticks from. I love the stainless steel chopsticks and water mug. You are given a covered pitcher of ice water. Service was excellent. The servers spoke with a thick Korean accent and they were so helpful in describing the menu options. It was like eating authentic Korean food in Korea. Price point is excellent given the quality of the food. I intend on returning to Hangang again and again! read more

We were psyched to come back today for lunch and geared up and were one of the first seated in the comfy booths. Ordered our usual lunch combo, cold noodles and kalbi for me and spicy cold noodles and dakgalbi for hubby. The banchan looked good and tasted blah. All of them tasted exactly the same, not balanced, and too much vinegar. We only ate the soybean sprouts. The meats are good here, the noodles, banchan, and the broth for te cold nangmyeon are sorely lacking in flavor and the noodle portion for the nangmyeon was very small this time and I am a small eater. Also at Noon today there was hardly a crowd, unlike before, so I think with price inflation and poorly seasoned foods customers are going elsewhere. We won't be back for a spell as there are so many other good places to eat around town. We don't mind paying more every year for the same dishes, IF the quality and quantity stay the same but once one or the other goes--we go--elsewhere. read more

Honestly the food here is amazing!! We made reservations for a weeknight dinner and they seemed quite busy when we checked in, then they mentioned we came to the wrong location. So we started to leave and then realized that.. no we were at the right location, they apologized and seated us promptly. We ordered the $70 per person prefix menu which included a lot of amazing food. We got kimchi pancake, korean steamed tofu, and a bunch of banchan along with our meats & 1 chosen side. The cold noodle was super refreshing and the noodles were nice and chewy. During our meal we asked for another kimchi banchan but our server gave us a bit of attitude & ended up bringing us the kimchi anyway. Overall the food was amazing and the quality of the meat was great. I loved all the banchan and it tasted very fresh. I would make a reservation since it was 100% full when we arrived. I'd come back again, but the servers felt like they were rushed in their job hence rushing us. read more

A friend of mine wanted to try this Korean restaurant so we made reservations for lunch on a Sunday. Parking was plentiful and free behind the restaurant. Hangang is located right by Ala Moana shopping center. I noticed a lot of the reviews mentioned how expensive it was during dinner time, but was not too bad during lunchtime. They have lunch specials from 11 AM to 2 PM. We ordered some lunch combos which included a soup, and meat of your choice. We also ordered some cold noodles. For lunch all of the food is cooked for you. We started out with the banchan which are those small little dishes that are typically served at Korean restaurants, including kimchi, potatoes, etc. It was good and quite tasty. When our proteins arrived, we realized that there was a mistake in our order as our server brought out two of the same proteins, even though we had ordered three different types. We brought this to our service attention, but it was not corrected, so we eventually just ended up eating what we had in front of us. Food was very good, I thought the lunch prices were relatively reasonable, but they could work a little bit on their customer service. read more

Yakiniku Hangang Finally got a table after trying three times -- totally worth the wait! From the crispy kimchi pancake to the rich kimchi stew and beautifully marbled cuts of meat, everything was spot on. The tsunami of banchan (side dishes) were fresh, and the cold noodles at the end were the perfect refreshing finish. If you're craving quality Korean BBQ in Hawaii, this place hits the spot. Just be ready to wait if you don't make a reservation, or get on the Yelp waitlist. Go early -- it gets busy fast! read more

This place is open until 11pm making it the perfect late night eatery. There's a small parking lot in the back and we found parking easily at 9 pm, but parking may be challenging during peak times. There are booths and tables inside for larger parties. The servers are young Korean guys and they are fast and friendly. The menu is big with not only Korean bbq but also lots of other options. It was chilly when we went so we ordered soup which really hit the spot. The banchan is refillable and some of the best we've ever had! read more

Our first visit to Hangang for lunch and what a treat!! They were busy busy busy with the lunch crowd. We had reservations and were seated right away. So many choices to enjoy, we opted for their lunch specials which is a DEAL for the amount of food you're served. We ordered the combo with the hot stone pot rice, grilled short ribs and tofu stew!! What??? All is for $29.90. 2nd combo cold noodle with BBQ chicken. Also ordered the japchae, kimchi jeon and fried mandoo. Sooooo much food for the 3 of us but we ate well. The banchan was very good and tasty. Every dish we ordered was excellent!!! Although the place is on the pricey side, the food was well worth the visit. The establishment was clean and service excellent. We will certainly return for another meal with more family members! read more

Came for a late lunch on a Thursday. It was around 3:00pm. The servers were busy cleaning and prepping for dinner. One of them looked irritated when we walked in. Food was ok. One disappointment was the rice in a hot pot. Other places will add hot water to get the sticky rice off the inside. They didn't do that here. Basically half the rice got wasted being stuck to the pot. Not sure if I would come back here. Maybe it was just an off day... read more

As a Korean, I'm happy to confidently say that Hangang is the best Korean restaurant on this island. Having lived in Hawaii for 12 years as a Korean local, I always felt a bit disappointed that I couldn't confidently recommend a truly great Korean place when friends from other countries asked me. Hangang changed that. Every side dish is made with care and tastes wonderful. The seasoning is well balanced and not overly sweet, which is something I really appreciate, especially these days. The staff are kind, and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. Whenever I'm craving Korean food made by someone else, I go straight to Hangang. read more

Street meter parking (need to download the parking app), valet next door or park at the mall for free and walk across the street. Inside has nice decor and feels clean. Service was good and friendly staff. Order: Spicy beef soup. Good flavor with the right amount of spice. Packed with beef, egg and vegetables. Mandu and rice cake soup. Broth was creamy and very delicious. Homemade mandu was the star of the dish. All the side dishes were delicious. The highlight was the radish kimchi and the seaweed soup. Overall: Definitely delicious Korean Food worth the drive from Waikiki beach. read more

Tried Hangang for lunch and the lunch special was actually really good -- great portion, good flavor, and definitely worth the price. The ambience is nice too: clean, relaxed, and a comfortable spot to sit and eat without feeling rushed. The service was solid. The staff was friendly, checked in enough without being annoying, and the food came out pretty fast. Overall, a great spot for a casual lunch and I'd come back again. read more

It was our visit to Hangang and the experience was amazing. There were a variety of options and we opted for the $140 package. It came with a wide variety of small dishes (Banchan) and I could taste the authenticity of them especially in kimchee. It also comes with 2 white rice and a soup. We were very happy with the quality of the meat, rice and soft tofu soup. Would love to come back again! read more

One of the best KBBQ ever! Great food and great service! You wouldn't think that you come to Hawaii to eat KBBQ lol but I'm glad I gave this place a try! It's not all you can eat. You order a set menu which I always think is better since the quality of meat is usually better. Everything was great! The meat, the side dishes, the tofu soup and the kimchi pancake! I loved it all! My sister who does not like kimchi, LOVED the kimchi pancake! Depending on your budget, this might be considered a bit more on the pricy end. But definitely give it a try!l! I'll definitely come back next time I'm in Hawaii. read more

Hangang is my favorite Korean restaurant in Honolulu. The menu has a great variety of classic dishes, and everything we've ordered has come out hot, well-seasoned, and consistently satisfying. The banchan is always fresh, flavorful, and refills are generous. Their lunch specials are amazing and easily one of the best values around. Each set comes with a main protein, your choice of sundubu or jjigae, purple bean/pumpkin rice, and banchan. We usually order the saba or galbi, which are both filling and flavorful. They also offer a wide range of specials at different price points, roughly $20-$79, depending on how hungry you are or whether you're sharing. It makes Hangang a great option for anything from a quick lunch to a bigger, more indulgent meal. Service is friendly and efficient without feeling rushed, and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. Prices feel reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, especially given the consistency. If you're looking for reliable, comforting Korean food in a convenient location, Hangang is easily one of the best choices in Honolulu. We'll definitely be back. read more

I was so excited to try Hangang after reading all of the reviews! I have lived in Korea before and the food here was so authentic and they also had so many additional authentic dishes that you would typically only be able to really find in major US cities like Los Angeles or New York. Given the warm weather, I went with Samgyptang - its a dish where a baby chicken is stuff with rice and several aromatic ingredients like Ginseng. The food was so delicious and authentic and I felt like I was eating in Korea! They also had a great Banchan selection and everything was fresh. Service was also outstanding too! I accidentally left my credit card in the check and left the restaurant and one of the servers ran outside to hand it to me - I really appreciated their kindness and their thoughtfulness. Hope to come here again if I get a chance to come to Hawaii again! read more

Came here for a birthday dinner for my mom. Parking is in the back and there's valet-- which is nice since the lot is on the smaller side. I dropped off a cake before picking up my mom as a surprise and they offered to refrigerate it for us until we arrived. The inside looks like your typical Korean bbq restaurant. We did booth seating and the overall dining room is a decent size. It was pretty busy when we went around 5:30p. We did the set course for all the adults. It was nice bc they let my son eat from our set course (which we didn't even finish). The meat seems like good quality. Flavors were okay. They did help cook things from time to time. The set course also comes with a soup which was okay. I got the kimchee soup and my parents got the miso. They brought out some watermelon in cups for dessert. After our dinner, I asked for the cake and the server just brought it out in its original box. No plates forks etc. not sure if they realized we wanted to actually enjoy it at the restaurant after our dinner Overall service was okay. Everyone seemed rushed but it was busy so understandable. Experience was overall okay. Not sure if I'd be back? There are a bunch of solid Korean bbq spots in town with a better price point. I might be back to try their lunch specials ! read more

Fellow Yelper reviews helped solidify this venue for our family's New Year's Lunch and everyone loved it! My brother, son, and I love Korean food, but I also prefer my spice on the milder side. My parents were nervous as they can't eat spicy food, but we reassured them there was a good variety to choose from and they would be happily satisfied. Walking in, it was filled with local and visiting families of the same nationality, sprinkled in with a few visitors to Hawai'i. We would not have gotten a table without reservations, and there are a few seats inside and outside for walk ins and take outs to wait. I used Yelp to make the res!!! Throughout the meal, (our apologies to fellow guests who were clearly regulars), we ogled in awe at the array of meats being brought to the tables who opted to grill! (I hope my picture of the fridge and chef helps show the quality and care that goes into your meal!). (There's also a mural explaining the cuts of meat en route to the back door parking lot entrance and the restroom.) The lunch menu had many options, and you could opt for additional dishes a la carte. The array of banchan was colorful, with veggies galore, with tastes ranging from super spicy to absolutely mild. The boys opted for those big rice bowls and my brother added tons of extra spice! My parents and I opted for the chicken and kalbi lunches, which were beautifully presented and tasty! We were stuffed and I actually had leftovers for another meal (so yes, I did take out the leftover banchan). Loved their service, loved their food, and there was no lingering smoke from all the other tables who opted to grill! Tables are somewhat close to each other to fit more guests, and there are nice "dividers" between tables that are adjacent to others. The restroom was clean and so well appointed, there's even a bench to place your bags (better than using a short hook, or worse, the floor). I can't wait until I have a chance to return to grill for dinner! read more

Overpriced. Better food on island for less. Servers continued to force cooking the food. Not worth a premium experience

I recently returned to HANGANG with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed the Prime Beef 9 Course offering. $70 (as of March 2025) for an ample amount of beef as well as other complimentary dishes feels like a very solid offering. The banchan selections continue to be plentiful and delicious, the steamed egg, sundubu, and kimchi pancake were all fantastic, and the beef was spectacular. I particularly enjoyed the skirt steak and the ribeye cap. My group also ordered the fried mandu, which was great as well. I was definitely full at the end of the meal. The service was also very attentive and friendly. HANGANG should always be in consideration if you're in town and craving KBBQ. read more

My last review for 2024. If you want high/good quality Korean bbq place, this is the place for you. I saw their joint list on Yelp so I wasn't sure if they took reservation but yes they do. This place isn't too big so I would call for a reservation. Although they're closed between 4 to 5pm, they do answer calls. This is not your typical Korean restaurant served by ladies. They serve lot of different items from bbq meats, stews, and variety of sides dishes. Their complimentary side dishes stood out like an art. Well made and perfect tasting. It took us while to decide what we wanted. I always wonder what other people order. They were pretty busy so it took sometime for us to get our food. My favorite was the marinated, big bone Kalbi that's hard to find even at Korean restaurant. read more

Wish we tried this place sooner! We heard this place was good and we finally tried it and had zero regrets. Located across the street from alamoana shopping center and they have a small parking lot in the back. Service was excellent. We were immediately greeted at the door and seated with minimal wait. Very clean for a KBBQ spot which we liked and the ambiance was so cute. They had jazz music, cute decor, candles, it felt like an upscale KBBQ. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the set course for $70 per person and it came with so much food. The value was crazy! The meats were high quality and we were able to take home our leftovers. Definitely recommend. read more

I've been wanting to try this out for a while and finally did, I enjoyed the meat quality, you're definitely getting what you pay for and it comes with a bunch of banchan. The steak we had they cooked to a nice medium rare temperature. After the first round of cooking for us, we cooked, I'm not quite sure if that's how it's suppose to go or not. The big downside was it felt like the air condition as broken, sweating even before we started grilling, so it just got worse as we were grilling. The vents are way up above the tables, that while it looks prettier there is definitely more hot grilling air around you. Hopefully it's gotten better now that summer has heated up. The pineapple at the end was a nice treat to conclude the meal. I definitely want to check out the Hawai'i Kai location after this. read more

Coming from a state (Los Angeles, CA) where there's a lot Korean BBQ restaurants, I may say this place is nothing, way far to compare. The quality of their beef is not good; it is missing the degree of tenderness, flavor and tenderness. However, I may say their pork belly has a good grade. They are pricy, portions they serve per order is small. It could have been acceptable if for at least getting good quality. In here you get less quality and less quantity. It's expensive! Services; It's awful! . Once they served your order, you are on your own. You have to chaste them to ask what else you need. For the price you are paying for?! it's not worth coming here. Ambiance; the place is so small. I made a reservation for 6:30 pm and didn't get in till 7:20 pm almost an hour wait with reservation. What a joke! Overall experience, thumbs down read more

I'm from LA and so there's sooo many great Korean spots, sometimes it can be intimidating ordering dishes that I don't know how to properly eat but the staff was super attentive and asked us a good amount if we were doing ok! The food was honestly so freaking bomb yall, I haven't had good Korean bbq on island AT ALL. This place is solid, my husband and I ordered soooo much food and they were all really good. The seafood pancake was super crispy and delicious. The short ribs patty were juicy and also very filling. The banchan was a little different than what I'm use to but it was sooo good ! One of my new favorite Korean BBQ spots for dinner. They're located across Ala Moana, on Waimanu Street, near Chun Wah Kam or across from KHON2. Parking is in the rear but if it fills up, then I'd probably recommend street parking or maybe Ala Moana.. They do take reservations via phone but I'd totally wait and dine here regardless. Pros: - Fast and great service with delicious food! - They've got a ton of side dishes that they serve with your meal and they're all so yummy! Cons: - I will say that sometimes the experience can vary... like one time, we got pineapple at the end of the meal which we could grill (so yummy) and other times we've visited, we didn't get anything... maybe it's seasonal but not a deal breaker. read more

We keep driving by this place and it looks so elegant we really wanted to try it. Finally someone suggested Hangang for a friend dinner. Made an early reservation and got a covered parking space in back of the restaurant, woo hoo! We ordered family style and since the portions were rather large it was a good idea. Ordered bibimbap, galbi, steamed egg, zucchini jun, and galbijjin. Also we split a bottle of Jeju soju. It was a little hard to get the attention of a server as it was very busy and the floor was a bit sticky so I didn't want to put my purse down, but the food was very good.
