Meal hero! Banchan means side dish in Korean and it really is a meal hero. It can help spice up or just change up a meal quickly. I am a busy working mom with kids and this is one place I trust I am in good hands when I need a break. Yes, Banchan house makes my life a little easier and helps boost my fiber intake for the day. Woot. I am golden for parking because I get one hour free validated parking after buying baked goods or Korean grocery store items nearby. When kids are hungry and I am tired, my go to meal is easy mandoo guk (mandoo soup). I use Banchan house frozen mandoo. I cook the frozen mandoo with soup stock and duk(frozen rice cakes)I buy from nearby Korean grocery store. Add egg and green onions and I am done! I love the meat Jun and variety of kimchee. Update 8-15-26 wanted to Kim chee and some other banchan for lunch and dinner. So today after our drop off at whole foods we went here. I bought Kim chee, taegu, seaweed, meat chun, shoyu potato, and of course chop Jae. Came home and made a plate with alittle of everything tonight is the rest for dinner with hot rice. Yum. The cashier was nice bagged everything in a bag and out the door I went. Clean and everything is in refrigerator sections including marinated meats for cooking at home. Certain fermented foods are agreeable to me although others aren't. For example, I don't eat natto. It's something you leave out to rot and then it ends up smelling worse than anything that comes out of your back end. Sorry for that rank olfactory description. Most of the family of kim chee products are fine to me. Banchan House has a lot of them. Members of the kim chee family. All the side dishes you need to complete your Korean dinner, as well as the mostly uncooked ones which are entrees. The bottom line: authentic tasty Korean food at reasonable prices to add variety to your meals at home. I have purchased something called mu ma lengi, which is dried radish strips reconstituted and soaked in kim chee seasoning. I like it. Granted I will buy it anywhere, not only at Banchan House. Ban Chan House is located where the old Likelike Drive Inn was. Easy to spot as they also share the same parking with Yogurt Story. Anyhow, if you are craving for some Korean small side dishes this is the place to go to. With its diverse flavors, you'll surely get obsessed with these. Picked up some Kim chee this past Saturday and it was so delicious! Perfect balance of spicy and very fresh. There was a lot of variety of banchans , but I only needed Kim Chee for a party. There was one lady in the back prepping and another one helping customers. I rang the service bell at the front register and someone came out quickly to help me pay for my items. We've been loyal customers of Banchan House since it was known as "Keeaumoku Produce" at its former location, from which they, along with other businesses, were forced to move. It's a small, clean, cozy shop. My wife loves their kimchi and other banchan. She recently picked up some kimchi mandu, which she kept frozen to portion out and add to soups and other dishes, enhancing them. Today, I went there intending to purchase some mandu and kimchi. Unfortunately, I was told they were out of kimchi mandu and only had the regular kind. One of my personal favorites is their hamburger jeon. It's surprisingly flavorful. I usually have it with hot rice, but I recently tried it in a sliced bagel, and that made it stand out. I've mentioned a few items, but I don't know all the names of their full range of products. The cons are that their choice of banchans are limited compared to places like Palama Supermarket in Kalihi. And overpriced. $8 and $10 kinda high. Oh man, I really would hope this could be my spot for all my banchan needs but after trying a bunch that I took home, unfortunately I don't think it can be... I've had better kimchi bought from other places. Their kimchi here lacked depth and umami. I don't make kimchi so I can't tell what's missing but it's just not there. Their bean sprouts don't taste savory either, maybe lacking some sesame oil, and it's mostly just salty flavor that I picked up. I've tried 2-3 more other banchans. All just OK. The only one that I liked was the seaweed salad with a good balance of saltiness, tanginess and sweetness. The staff were friendly and it seemed like things were made fresh in the morning. He was bringing out some japchae from the kitchen when I was there. Maybe I went on a wrong day? Maybe I picked the wrong items? Thanks to my Lunch Buddy for bringing Banchan House to my attention. It's been on my to visit list for awhile now but with travels, it's been a challenge. I just got back and our fridge was empty, it's usually empty lol, so we decided to check out Banchan House. They are located in the lot where Like Like Drive Inn, now YogurStory, is located. Shared lot and the stalls are tiny. You might get a visit from the Ding Fairy. One huge attraction of this place is the wide variety of Banchan so if you like sides, you gotta check this place out. When you enter, they have fridges to the right and left with a large table in the center. In the back is the cashier and kitchen. Everything is organized and the place is clean. We got there late in the day and boy, that was a mistake. A lot of the items we saw on Yelp were all sold out. It was a little heartbreaking for our stomachs. Mainly mine lol. Make sure to come early! This place is super popular. Prices are reasonable and everything looks good. We only were able to pick up some Hamburger Jun and Chive Kim Chee. Freshly made Mandoo looked good but we passed this time. We look forward to a future visit earlier in the day so we can try other items they offer. read more

I went to his house and he served us some of the dishes so we went down after and bought over $80 worth of goodies. Omg! Totally love this place. We missed the hamburger Jun but we got the meat and fish Jun and that was delish along with various kimchis. We just needed to cook rice and we were set for dinner for couple of nights! So of course I had to check it out for myself. Lots of different varieties of Korean side dishes (Bachan) On their counter in the middle of the store is all the hot ready to eat items . They have meat jun, Japchae, potatoes and more. In their refrigerator they sell Kim Chee , marinated meats and more Bachan that needs to be refrigerated. The refrigerators are filled with banchan! I narrowed down my choices quickly because I don't like spicy food. I think my sisters should come here and pick their own banchan (like kimchi and raw baby octopus). I got the seaweed and the little hamburger jun (small patties, fried in an egg wash). They were both authentic and tasty! The seaweed wasn't too sweet nor too vinegary! I liked the small bits of carrots and red bell peppers! The garlic flavor was delicious! The hamburger jun was better than my Korean aunt's - don't tell her! It was tender, moist and tasty with diced onion! Yum!!! I also got a bag of mandoo ($45) to cook at home. Found this gem by accident! They have a lot of banchans (hence the name) and also marinated meats ready for cooking. So far I've tried their hamburger jun (so tasty), fish jun, japchae (so flavorful with meat and mushrooms), kimchi, fishcake, seaweed salad, and a bunch others. I bought some spicy pork bulgogi which the hubs and kid (picky eater) enjoyed! They're reasonably priced and very tasty! The uncle at the cashier is always super friendly and welcoming. Really wanted to rate them higher. Arrived there at 9 am. Walked in, and no one was around. Started looking in the refrigerated units only to see that the selection wasn't much. A man came out and started to wipe down the table behind me. My wife and I had read good reviews from other Yelpers. The items that we were most interested in were not available.. We did pick up a few items. Kim Chee which came only in a large container. My wife did ask, but the man said no. The taste was Ok, but a little on the spicy hot side. Also picked up a container of pickled radish. Nice and crunchy taste was average. The taegu was flavorful but extremely tough. The burdock root was the most flavourful of banchan we brought. Wow, banchan galore! I love that I can go and pick out the types of banchan I want. They also open pretty early so it's nice to be able to run errands and grab what you need at an earlier time. Aside from banchan, they also have frozen mandoo as well as some marinated meats. Unfortunately I was going to be out a little while and just had a small cooler for my banchan, so I didn't get to try anything else. But I'll definitely be back! I think Banchan House is new. I don't remember seeing it until recently and I come this little keeaumoku shopping plaza quite often. On my most recent visit, I saw a handful of people entering the Banchan House store. It caught my attention because usually I don't see very many people. And all the people I saw were going to Banchan House? I knew I had to check it out. There are other places that offer banchan, even in the area, there is palama supermarket. I think banchan house is fresher and better tasting, but that's just my opinion. They have quite a variety of different banchans. They also have marinated meat and papaya sold by the pound. I picked up a dried radish kimchee and cucumber kimchee. They were affordable and sooooo delicious! I will definitely be back to try some other banchan. The one guy working the cash register was nice. The line went relatively quickly and the interior was clean. This place's banchan is way fresher than the stuff you get at HMart or Palama, plus it's less oily and in my opinion way tastier because you can tell they just made it. Also could see in the back area where they make their banchan and it's so clean! I love a clean kitchen! Got the eggplant, bean curd, and a large bag of mandoo and would order them all again! It's cheaper than making it myself and this stuff is time consuming to make, so I think going here once a week to stock up on fresh vegetable side dishes I want (but don't want to make myself) is a big win.
