Sweet little Korean bbq plate lunch spot in Kaka'ako.
    Kathy L.

Unfriendly staff with poor communication and heavy language barrier. What they currently have for food selection is extremely limited. They are no longer serving any hot food from their menu, so don't waste your time asking. It's basically a mini-mart, at this point. I've walked there twice and both times, left disappointed no food whatsoever. Post-pandemic, it's understandable that restaurants and eateries have no choice to cut their menu items but it was the lack of friendliness and customer service that turned me off so badly. The older auntie who was working the register was sort of rude, to be honest. She never smiles and she responds to your inquiries with curt hand gestures. NEVER had a chance to try any of their hot Korean foods and probably never will. Don't bother wasting your time and don't you dare bother wasting Auntie's time either.

Han's Korean BBQ..located in Restaraunt Row. Cute little place with their own seating that's a plus. (Seating is limited in Restaraunt Row.) Food is tasty and well presented. Ordered the meat juhn plate. Meat was nice and soft and sauce was tasty. They also have a variety of little bento size trays for only $5.99, sweet deal. I got the egg roll with gyoza. Ms. Han came out to chat to check if everything was okay. She took pride in her restaraunts and ensured we were satisfied. Kept telling me to eat my vegetables (cucumbers) lol Highly recommended, tasty, reasonable pricing, and seating all in Restaurant Row.

Combo meat jun and spicy pork...who puts Korean food on a bed of salad...this place does. What a new and enjoyable experience coming here to eat while at an appt few doors down. Rarely in this area but wanted to grab food b4 heading out. Walked around the Waterfront Plaza and Korean food caught my eye, luckily they were still open for lunch. It's part mini mart part Korean bbq during grill hrs. Their hrs for bfast 6a-10a and lunch is 11a-2p. But if the grill isn't on they have ready made grab and go options such as musubi, sushi, bentos and even smoothies. They even have rice cake...yumm. Wonderful customer service she was super nice and friendly. I was in line behind 2 regulars and she treated me same as she treated them. She will validate with purchase. $5 min for credit card useage.

Restaurant row is really starting to come back between Han's and the new Tamura poke bar. Han's serves Korean plates and some soups. They've got different breakfast and lunch hours and I think have been open for about a month. I asked the ajumma at the counter what to get and she recommended the spicy pork plate. As you can see in the photos it's a pretty solid portion with a mix of spicy pork, rice, quite a bit of salad and some small banchan stuff (broccoli, bean sprouts, kimchi). The pork is solid. Good chili flavor without being too hot (and I've had some hot Korean pork) sliced thinly and not overdone. It'll be interesting to see how their soups are. But overall this is a great lunch option in the area

This place is the bomb!!! The food is always good, no matter what you'll order. The portions are good size and come with real vegetables and kimchi, not scraps. Everything is really good quality. They always have various bento boxes and lots to chose from. Also, they have all the stuff convenience store does. It's really great. I work at a restaurant row plaza, so I come here often and I"m never disappointed. The company I work for have ordered lunch for the whole office (15-16 people) from Han's several times before and it's always tasty and perfect. The order is never messed up, the plates are full, and we get extra stuff. We don't order from anywhere else anymore. If you go there often, they will take care of you. It's like going to your mom's place, whatever you need, they got you!!! Ladies, thank you for delicious food and your kindness!!!

The meats were fresh and tasty. The spicy cold noodles were refreshing, and all the Banchan little dishes offered lots of varieties and refillable. You know this place is authentic when you have bean paste dipping sauce and raw garlic slices. They are not trying to tailor to westerners. I really enjoy the Korean comfort foods! 4 stars for the food, soups, and ban chan, 5 stars if the service was great. Typical service you will get at a Korean spot but no complaints. Just gotta be patient for ban chan refills or if you need anything else, I don't expect much just happy that I get to have my Korean food. During this recent Saturday visit, I decided to go here for our late lunch, after hiking Koko Head Trail & Makapuu. It was about 4:30 pm, we were the only ones there, but it filled up pretty quick an and they do have many take out and Uber/Door Dash orders. My favorites here are the combo set, choice of soondubu (combination, kim chee, spam, beef, sausage, clam,) & either meat jun, fried mandoo, bulgogi, yellow corvina, seafood jun, or BBQ chicken. The combo use to be $20.55 my first time but now went up to $23.55, hence the increase, it is still a great deal, this meal comes with rice and 5 different ban chan. This combo was more than enough for the both of us. My favorite is the spam soondubu ( yes. who picks Spam right?! hehe) & the seafood Jun. Although it so hard to decide since all the choices are good, I will have to visit again for the other selection. The other half and I cannot eat an entire combo set by ourselves. I love the ban chan, especially the daikon & kim chee, so fresh and crispy! When I first dined here, I was surprise to see they give you a fresh egg to crack in your soondubu soup, I am use to the egg already in there. We always have leftover soondu soup which I take home and add to my Korean ramen the next day, so good! Support this local mom & pop restaurant, So Gong Dong has been around for the longest time just only recently I've discovered it. I will be back for the next Korean soondubu, ban chan fix!

For the meats, the beef brisket and beef toro were the stars, but the beef chuck was slightly tough and dry. They were also out of bulgogi, which was disappointing. The pork had a really strong boar taint smell/taste, which completely turned me off from ordering any of the pork. We had to ask for more meat and banchan refills multiple times. There was usually a pretty noticeable lag before anything came out, which was frustrating for an AYCE spot. They also seemed to be selective about which banchans they would refill. They would bring more of the dishes like kimchi and cucumber, but when we asked for more tuna mac, they wouldn't give us any. It also looked like there were only two people working while there were probably around 10 tables during the Tuesday lunch rush, so I do think they were understaffed. If you're offering AYCE, the refills and service should flow a lot more smoothly. It felt like they were paying more attention the tables that selected a higher tier of AYCE. Not a terrible experience, but definitely not as seamless or enjoyable as I was hoping for.
