    Agedashi Tofu - Perfect!

The food is absolutely delicious and made fresh to order. The service is warm and makes you feel like you're at home in Japan. Very comfortable. Always delicious and always welcoming. Highly recommended!

Tonkotsu ramen broth was just okay. Charsiu is heavily marinated in sake. Curry rice was good. Could have been just what we ordered but it was an okay meal. If we go back, we'll order different items.

Great hole in the wall place for lunch near UH Manoa! Street parking is available and meter. Must download the park smarter app. Food is all made to order but so fast and fresh ! I literally felt like I was eating at a Japanese grandmas house, so authentic ! Tempura was crispy and not oily. Sashimi was so fresh and so were the sushi rolls. We'll be back with the rest of the family.

What a cozy little Japanese food gem! I used to live right down the street and never knew Hana no Sato was here. So to my surprise, when Li Y., brought us here--I was in for a treat! The restaurant's atmosphere is relaxed and casual with fun Japanese decor and pictures of the menu posted around. Gives off your neighborhood Japanese spot vibes. Seating-wise, there's a decent amount for pairs, families, or larger parties. We had a bigger group, so lots of coordination was done, which we appreciated! Recommend calling in advance if you have a bigger party. We found the service to be so kind and efficient. With a large group, they did a wonderful job managing our seating, orders, requests, and so forth. Thank you to everyone for my meal and the wonderful company! The Takoyaki was yummy and I enjoyed the Grilled Mackerel Gozen. There was so much food in the gozen, I was so stuffed and needed a takeout box. I rarely get saba shioyaki so it was a nice change, I loved how rich, smoky, and slightly salty it was. I also enjoyed the other sides like the chawanmushi! Everything tasted good and it was nice to have a variety. I'd recommend the gozen to all! Hana no Sato was a superb destination of choice. Thank you to Li Y. for organizing this great meal and it was lovely to reunite but also meet so many others. I'd recommend this spot for those who want a comforting Japanese meal. The restaurant is off S King St. with street parking or parking in their lot.

I love this place! Been coming here for years and it never disappoints. We'll only when it's too crowded lol One of the best grilled Salmon bentos/teishoku I have had and you can't beat their prices for Japanese food. The server lady always has a smile for you even when it's crazy busy and she's running around non stop. The customers are always pretty patient and maybe the byob action helps. It's a no frills decor place with tasteful light decorations. It's the pictures of the food I'm interested in!

Nothing fancy--just solid, tasty Japanese home cooking. The kind of meal you'd get from your grandma, not a celebrity chef. Super warm friendly service too. Chill vibe with about 10 tables,. I've been a couple of times lately and really liked the Saba and Shio Ramen. For a small spot, the menu's got a lot going on--ramen, udon, curry, bentos, all the usual suspects and more. Prices are super reasonable, but with how busy they're getting, that might not last forever. They don't serve alcohol, but you can bring your own. Parking's metered on King Street--just watch out for the no-parking window between 3:30-6 p.m. on weekdays (always check the signs). Happy Eating!!

Great place for a Yelp get together! I had the saba bento which was delicious. It came with rice, miso soup or salad, macaroni salad, gobo and carrots, tsukemono, half a boiled egg and two gyoza. The fish was cooked to perfection and the sides added a tasty variety. Excellent service as well.

Food was great. Had tofu, chicken, sushi, taegu salad, gyoza , tempura ...all great. Service was A+. Toshiko was awesome! Place is small so be sure to make reservations or risk being turned away

Really homey, local, Japanese food at a great price. We tried to drop in on a Friday night and the restaurant was completely full. We didn't have a reservation, but we were told we could come back in around 20 mins to get a table! I would definitely recommend making a reservation since the restaurant is quite small and is popular :). When we came back we were immediately seated and the lady running the restaurant took our order pretty quickly. We ordered the chicken karaage, ahi poke bowl, gyoza and agedashi tofu. Both entrees also came with miso soup. My favorites from what we ordered were the agedashi tofu and the fresh poke. I could tell the ahi was really fresh on my poke bowl! Next time I come back I want to try the hand rolls and the udon! 10/10 neighborhood gem.

Having a craving for some good ole comfort Japanese or Okinawan food. Stopped by here after suggestions from multiple persons. Now stop by regularly whenever I am getting that craving. Love this casual, neighborhood restaurant. Come as you are. Have tried many of the dishes here. Usually gravitate to the goya champuru. Sometimes some takoyaki or grilled fish. Almost always get the complete gozen set. Service always friendly and efficient. Parking is easier on weekends or evenings (Saturday and Sunday) when the meters are free and right infront of the restaurant. There is also a parking lot with entrance BEFORE the restaurant. Lot does fill up at peak meal times as sharing with a few other eateries. So, best to go earlier!

First time trying here....food was delicious. We ordered tenzaru soba, chirashi, chicken karaage and anmitsu. Reminded me of Japan. Hard to find a good, reasonably priced Japanese restaurant now a days but we finally found one. Service was really good too.

Liked it so much the first time we went we had to go back and try more things. Everything is still very good. It was a little busier tonight than it was the first time we came here but the service was still friendly and efficient and the place never got too noisy.

The sauce to dip the noodles in was good. It was flavorful, salty, and sweet. My wife had a bowl of ramen. I got to try the soup and it tasted really good. I also like how thick it was. I don't like thin soup on my ramen, so this I really liked. My daughter was gulping down her noodles... just shoving it into her mouth. That is a huge thing for me because she's picky with food. We also had the potato mochi. I also liked that one. It had good texture, crunch, and chew. It was brushed with a glaze. The flavor was good. I'm not a chicken karaage guy. But I'm mentioning it because we ordered it. The chicken karaage were good chunks of chicken. Not like other places who give small chunks. My wife liked it because it had more chicken than batter. Service - The Place had good service. The food came out on time. Servers were checking up on us without hovering or being overbearing. They paid attention when we called asking for help. I was listening to the workers, and they seem to like being there. I mean, "work is work", and no one REALLY LIKES going to work. I'm pretty sure we'd all rather be someplace else besides work. Maybe I caught them in a good mood, but, it genuinely seemed like the moral in the place was good and the people working there that night didn't mind being there. Vibe - Small, family vibe. I liked that there was buzz but it wasn't loud. When we came, most of the people there were older, but as we left later in the evening, a more younger crowd started lining up and coming in. That tells me, they appeal to a wide demographic/pallet, which is good. Overall, it's going on the list of places to go back to and recommend. I don't really like going to ramen places during the summer because it's hot. But I would go here.

But for the most part, the line moves fast because meals are dished out quickly and guests eat and leave in a timely manner. And prices are relatively low compared to other places. I ordered the #2 Creamy Broth- creamy chicken broth topped with juicy pork chashu and a flavorful seasoned egg 10/10! This was absolute fire!!! My wife ordered the Chicken Katsu- lightly battered, well seasoned and packed with flavor. We also ordered a side of Shrimp Tempura and Potato Croquettes. They are currently exploring a new concept, which is a bit different from what it used to be. There's quite a bit of items missing from their old menu, but they have included new dishes to try. I got their Beefy Gold which has a lighter broth. I also ordered a side of yuzu peel & juice, reminiscent of the yuzu shio ramen. I'd say that the broth is pretty good (light broth is gentle to the stomach), and the noodles were cooked well. You'll probably miss the fatty chunk of charsiu, but they now have pulled beef charsiu instead which is stringy and just as flavorful :) Service was friendly as always and they were very attentive to our needs. The open kitchen concept is nice, the restaurant feels much larger, and overall the new location is more inviting than the old one. Unfortunately, the food and menu changes were a big disappointment for me. The old location had a much larger menu with plenty of ramen options, while the new menu is limited to just three choices. The ramen itself doesn't taste the same, and even the noodles seem different. The biggest letdown was the chashu--it used to be served as a whole slice of pork, but now it's more of a shredded meat style that lacks the same appeal and texture. Adding to that, the new location currently doesn't have a liquor license, which takes away part of the dining experience. While the new space is beautiful, I left missing the food and variety that made Kamitoku one of my favorite ramen spots. Hopefully they'll bring back more of what made the original location special.

The biggest issue, however, wasn't the wait it was the outdoor dining experience. Sitting on the patio felt like being dropped into Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Every imaginable bird seemed to be there: little birds, big birds, one-legged birds, scruffy birds, sick-looking birds, and fearless "gangster" birds that stared you down and swooped in the moment food hit the table. They hopped onto empty chairs, circled the tables, and constantly tried to steal food, making it impossible to relax and enjoy the meal. I understand that outdoor seating comes with the occasional bird, but this was on another level. The restaurant should consider better bird deterrents because the constant interruptions took away from what was otherwise a very good meal. If you order takeout or sit indoors, you'll probably have a much better experience. The food is worth trying, but unless the bird situation is addressed, I wouldn't choose the outdoor seating again.
