Not into Japanese curry but joined some friends for dinner. Was planning to enjoy popcorn at movies so daughter, who frequents this loc advised me to eat the croquettes with curry sauce and rice for a light dinner. Had a long wait since there were six of us, even though we said we would split up into two tables. I understand waiting is common at this loc. Menu is great like most Japanese restaurants because it has pictures of the dishes. Got the croquettes with curry sauce and rice as daughter recommended. Was delicious! Curry sauce - I ordered mild - was very good. Food came relatively quickly but not immediately. Croquettes were just tasty mashed potatoes and the crispy breading was great. Didn't eat much rice since there that so much starch/carbs sincei was saving room for popcorn later but the rice was also very good. One friend had curry udon and a piece of katsu from her husband's meal. She said that's what she usually gets (she is a noodle fan). I would actually come back to try other dishes now that I've tasted the curry sauce if I can figure out how to avoid long waits. Not sure that's possible but I plan to try. read more

Service was on point and the food absolutely delivered -- honestly, what more could you ask for? We dined in around 5:30 pm and it was pretty quiet at first, which made for a relaxed start to dinner. Within about 30 minutes, the place started filling up quickly -- always a good sign. Ordering was smooth and efficient, and our food came out shortly after without feeling rushed. My boyfriend ordered the spicy beef shabu shabu with spinach, mushrooms, and udon. The broth had a really nice kick -- flavorful, warming, and not overwhelmingly spicy. The beef was tender and paired perfectly with the fresh vegetables and chewy udon noodles. I went with the shrimp tempura udon, and it hit the spot. The curry was light yet savory, and the tempura shrimp were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside -- no soggy batter here. The portion sizes were just right: satisfying and comforting without leaving us overly stuffed. Absolutely delicious! We had the chicken and pork, added spinach to one of them. Both so good. There were no tables initially (10 min wait) but we had our toddler and had limited time, so they let us order in advance so after we were seated we wouldn't have to wait as long for food to come out. Finally leaving the review for this location. Early Saturday dinner hours before the rush. We were seated quickly, order taken and few minutes later, got the corn salad with bottle of dressing. Our server was fast and courteous and able to answer all of our questions. Overall, food was ok. It was weird to see the lettuce stacked on top of each other. Yes, kinda like individual leaf of lettuce stacked on top of another. It was very hard to eat. My chicken culet was very meaty and I would prefer thinner style. Kalispell curry was good. Ambiance? Not much to comment. That damp odor turned me off as I walked in. It will be a while for my next visit. read more

I've been a long time Curry House diner... However, I haven't been in a while. This place is "takeout" only. I miss being able to dine here. However, if you call in your order and take it up. Its still hot and tasty. It's been a while since I've had their food. However, this last time I had it, it was just as good as I remembered. My favorite dish to order here is their chicken katsu curry, with cheese with spice. How can something so simple be so tasty? It must be their curry. I didn't get to take a photo, because something about food in takeout containers aren't as appealing on photographs. I have had a soft spot for Coco Ichibanya since I had it while study abroad....uh plus how are you gonna go wrong with CURRY, CROQUETTE, and CHEESE? Sold, immediately sold. Swung by this spot late afternoon on a Sunday and thankfully didn't have much of a wait. I love how flexible and customizable things are here so was able to grab a vegetarian curry with a jumbo veg croquette and cheddar cheese added hehehe food came out at a good pace and lordt I forgot just how large the portions are. There is an option for LESS rice which I think I need to choose next time. I literally ate here and said no to dinner later in the day because I genuinely could not have even one more bite. My one downside here was that I ordered the curry spicy and there was no tingle or spice whatsoever. Prices are fair, esp for the portion, and parking is quite easy given its a larger complex with lots of spots! Curry house is my go to when I want fast and fresh comfort food. The service is always awesome here and the food is on point, not to mention you can't beat the price. They have booth and counter seating and you can see them cooking your food. There are no cons I can think of for this location: + food is always cooked fresh, curry is always hot and the fried items are served crisp right out the fryer + you can choose the spice level: 1-10, last time I tried 5 and I think that was my limit! 2/3 is the perfect heat level IMO + recommend asking for you fried items on the side so they stay nice and crispy + service is always nice, food comes out fast, and the prices are very affordable compared to everywhere else now days read more

Curry! Curry is one of my most favorite things to eat. Idk what I'd do without curry! If you like or even absolutely love curry, you will want to try the curry here. Hands down it smells just like the curry sold in restaurants there in Japan. Smells. The only thing is it seems to smell more yummy than when you're eating it. Like somehow the taste does not reflect the way it actually smells. Does that make any sense?? This means logically, that they are adding an artificial smell factor that does not have anything to do with taste so I guess you will not be getting real curry. I hope they read this and change things back to real curry powder! I've ordered chicken katsu curry with spinach and cheese on rice, chicken katsu curry with spinach mushrooms and cheese, chicken katsu curry and rice, and shabu shabu beef with spinach mushrooms and cheese. The shredded cheese makes the curry so much more yummy. Take out curry plate orders are placed inside a round compartment dish that is divided into three sections, the rice compartment covered by the meat you select with cheese on top, the curry with spinach and mushrooms in its own compartment, and the Japanese pickles in its own mini space. Dining in is a little different. Your curry plate comes served on a plate with a high lip and the curry covers everything beneath. Get your crunchy sweet yet tart Japanese pickles from the little dispenser on the table. Wait service is friendly and kind. They don't need to come see you since there are water pitchers placed on each table for your serving convenience. Somehow even though there are a lot of employees behind the counter preparing the curry dishes, they do not hang out in the dining area so you'll have to flag them down when you need something. Pay in cash or credit card but there's a 3% fee for using a credit card so don't forget to have cash on you before coming here. Haven't been here in a while and decided to stop in for dinner. Once we walked in, we were greeted by a male employee. He sat us right away on a table near the entrance. The restaurant was a little busy and only had the one table near the entrance which seats only two and counter seats available. We ordered: 1) Veggie Croquet w/Kalbi and Spinach (Spicy) 2) Kalbi & Chicken Cutlet (Spicy) AMBIANCE: 2 Booths for 6, 2 booths for 4, 1 table for 4 and 12 counter seats. There is some music playing, not too loud which is good. SERVICE: Our server was nice and checked on us. All of the employees are always so friendly and accommodating. Keep in mind they do get busy especially during dinner hours. Parking near the restaurant can be minimal during dinner but there are usually available stalls at the other end of the parking lot. It is a lot more convenient now because they do take credit cards for payment. It use to be cash only. Although they do take credit cards, they do charge 3% for any credit card payments. We have never been disappointed with the food and would definitely return. read more

After a long day, we needed to feed the kids. Luckily we just happened to find a CoCo Ichibanya in the same parking lot as the Foodland we were just getting basic necessities from. Eating here was a no brainer since all the kids love this place. It's one of our go to spots when we are in SoCal so we walked right in. Service was fast, only waited a few minutes to be seated. Hawaii has a few different options compared to the mainland so after browsing the menu we got the shabu shabu beef with gyoza, corn cream croquet, and a standard chicken cutlet with cheese. This Curry House is located in Kapolei Village Center nearby Domino's and L&L. The parking lot is pretty tight but we've always been able to find a spot no problem. Sometimes we dine in here but we do takeout most of the time. Tonight we ordered beef curry (only comes in spicy), fried chicken curry, shrimp tempura curry, and fried scallop curry with mixed vegetables. There's some new items that aren't on their regular menu like fried scallop curry, fried tofu, naan bread, etc. When you order, you can do either spicy or mild curry but some only come in spicy. It's really not that spicy, just a tiny kick. There are a few booths, tables and some counter space to dine in but it's a relatively small seating area. Whenever we place a phone order, it's ready within 10-15 min which is great. The price is really good for the amount you get and there are many different options. I also appreciate how you can customize the amount of rice you get. Curry House is one of our go-to takeout restaurants and will definitely be returning! read more

When we visited Hawaii last month, one of the checklist foodie stops on our weeklong visit was Curry House. When we lived in Aiea, the Curry House in the Pearl Kai shopping complex, was at least a once a month visit for lunch or dinner... This Kapolei location did not disappoint. We ate in and sat at one of the sterile booths. The ambiance or decor for this eatery is strictly "spartan like". Remember, you don't come here for the decor...you come here for delicious curry dishes... My wife and I both ordered Curry plates with Stewed Chicken. These dishes both hit the comfort food zone bullseye on the nose. The service was pleasantly friendly from top to bottom. We are so glad, that Curry House has not changed, since we moved away, in providing good Japanese comfort food. read more

Every year when we come to Oahu, we have to stop by this curry house to get our favorite which is the pork Tonkatsu curry with rice. It has always been the best we ever had. Delicious Japanese curry is found at this island gem. Favorite so far! The service from Janiya (please forgive me if I spelt it wrong) was wonderful. She was attentive and I finally figured out what I wanted she was there to take my order. She also handled my hangry toddler before my husband and I took turns outside with her to walk around. However when I got my food I noticed there were 3 plates instead of the 4 plates I ordered. I checked my receipt and it said three. So I went to make another order. The worker seemed frantic and told me that I could not cause they were too busy. I just left cause I do not wanna make a huge scene. I really love curry house for their affordable plates of curry. However, I don't go often because I know I had get curry house when I go to Japan, so I kind of save it for when I go to Japan. They also have an YiFang and a foodland in the same parking lot. There's nothing like finishing off your curry lunch with a milk tea. Yum. My friends and I came here on a weekday for lunch and there were a few other full tables, but we were seated right away. The waitress was very nice and took our orders quickly. I think she could tell that we were getting hangry. I love that there are so many options for toppings. Plain curry and rice is boring, but add spinach, corn, gyoza, fried oysters, etc, and now we're talking. I like getting the spinach and chicken. I've also gotten chicken katsu with cheese. I also like their salad because the salad dressing is delicious. And their croquettes are amazing. Everything is so good! On this visit to the kapolei location, I ordered the pork cutlet curry with cheese. The cheese on curry used to be weird for me, but now curry tastes weird without it for me haha. The pork cutlet was perfectly crispy and the pickles really help to balance out the saltiness of the cheese and curry. I like that there are pitchers of water on the table so you can refill the cups yourself. The Curry House CoCo Ichibanya is a wonderful curry eatery in Kapolei. The service is very good, the ambiance is simple with limited seating. The menu has a variety of curry dishes to select from. Shrimp Curry stew - 3.5/5 This was a very simple dish. The curry was excellent, but the amount of shrimp in the stew was minimal at best. I would have given a much higher rating if it wasn't for the skimpy amount of bay shrimp (see pic). The rice and curry was a perfect combination. Mabu Tofu Udon - 5/5 This was an excellent dish. The Mobu Tofu Udon was very deliciously tasty. The udon noodles were cooked just right. The broth was not too salty, but very flavorful.
