Our usual must-gets: 1. 1-2 item combos which come with a small udon or ramen (it's not that small), and a choice of chicken katsu, curry rice, pork fried rice, fish katsu, and much more). 2. Beef Gyudon with rice 3. Fish katsu curry. Portions are big and food is delicious. If you come 2-5, they have a happy hour with free order if gyoza. On a Tuesday for dinner around 5:30, we were the first ones there and then the restaurant filled up by 6. Service is attentive and they brought out our food quickly. Overall great experience at ramen bones. We were seated immediately and our order was taken within a couple minutes of us sitting down and the food came within 5 minutes after ordering. We got the ramen combo with chicken katsu and fried rice and I up-charged the ramen to black garlic ramen for +$1.50 which was definitely worth it. My husband and I shared the sides of the combo and he got a keiki ramen on the side which was the same size as the ramen in the combo. Everything tasted great and the food was all hot and fresh. Realistically between a 3.5 - 4 star rating, depending on your preference, Ramen Bones is an incredibly fast serving ramen, udon, and rice dish restaurant that is more local flavor ramen than it is 100% authentic Japanese noodle shop. We showed up at 5:30 on a Sunday and were the first to sit for dinner rush. Ramen Bones is small inside and filled up with a small line within 30mins. It's no surprise why. We had a 4 gyoza plate come out within just a couple minutes of ordering. It was no fluke - a keiki ramen, tan tan ramen, ox tail soup, and curry katsu followed within 4-8 minutes. Our superhuman kitchen staff didn't skimp on the flavor either. Each dish was very flavorful, bordering on the saltier side of the spectrum but not excessively so. The flavors definitely won't be mistaken for the work of a 30yr Tokyo veteran but is rather good in its own regard - a different, translated, punched-up comfort version of a ramen shop. read more

Not sure what happened here.. The service is still fast and friendly, but the food tasted different from the last few times we've dined in. I hope today was an off day! First thing I need to comment on is the Tonkotsu Ramen. That bowl was hella salty :( and the more I ate and mixed it up, the worse it got. I had to stop eating after a while cuz it just wasn't tasting right. Behind the salt, the flavor was okay at best.. this bowl was served with 3pc chashu, bamboo shoots, kamaboko, nori, green onions, and a half boiled egg. Since we dined in between 2-5pm, this regular sized bowl of ramen came with free gyoza (4pc). Unfortunately, the gyoza was leaking so much oil, it was like mush and fell apart once I grabbed it. My wife ordered her usual Miso Ramen Combo. This set comes with 4pc gyoza and is disqualified from the free ones during happy hour. Her miso broth was still good, but the fried rice was drenched in oil and to me, it was pretty unappetizing and had a weird flavor because of the oiliness. (Note: I usually love this fried rice) She ordered her gyoza deep fried and it was fried well... I should've done that, but oh well. With that said, I'm sure we'll still give Ramen Bones another visit or two... just hope things go back to normal and their chef gets the oil thing under control. **Fingers crossed!** read more

I love ramen and I know some really great places such as Manichi Ramen located by Alamoana mall also Golden pork tonkatsu on king street. As for this one poor service everything came out late. The chicken katsu was old hard and thin barely any chicken. Ordered a Pepsi and they give me a warm can with a cup of ice, at least keep the can in the refrigerator omg. The ramen wasn't good I ordered tan tan with extra egg and char siu came only with char siu no egg at all. Overall experience negative, customer service bad. Is it me or has this place become what daiichi use to be??? I mean that in every good way, cause Daiichi "was" good back in the day...anyways though I was craving shrimp fried rice and shrimp katsu and to my surprise they make the shrimp katsu the OG way that daiichi use to make it and the shrimp fried rice was everything I imagined it to be. Unfortunately, I didn't get to dine in as this was an Uber order but when your food is delivered and still tastes amazing - I think that says a lot! The vibe inside was like a mini ramen shop which was very fitting. We ordered a few things. First, we got their 2 choice combo which consist of a mini ramen with your choice of broth, and two sides of your choice. I went with the black garlic ramen with the mini curry and chicken katsu ($15.25). Next, we ordered the tonkotsu combo which comes with 4 pieces of gyoza ($16.25). For sides, we ordered fried shumai and we got more than the 6 pieces showed on the menu ($7.25). The food literally came out right after we ordered. First was the ramen, then the rice plates and lastly the fried items. One of my favorite parts was the garlic bits they have on the table. It's a nice additional to your ramen. The tonkotsu broth was very tasty and the garlic broth is a must if you love garlic. The chicken katsu was crispy and the chicken was tender. I also love their fried rice. The portion size is enough to fill you up and has that fried rice taste that many ramen stores have. Overall, the food was great. My daughter and I decided to come here cause she told me her classmates mom works there. We came in for an early dinner Bec my daughter didn't want to eat at the mall. My daughter ordered the wonton ramen and she loved it. I decided on the mochico chicken with rice. I wanted the keiki size but she gave me too much rice that I couldn't finish it. The ladies working here were really nice and my daughter's friend was helping clean up tables and gave out iced waters. The iced waters were refreshing and I literally had 3 cups of water because I was so dehydrated. Food was delicious. The mochico chicken came out hot. Rice was perfect. Ramen Bones is our family's go to ramen restaurant. Learned about this place from my sister that has brought my parents here for several years. We love the atmosphere, the service, the portion size and the price. My parents, sister and I always share our food. So we love their combo special and get the same thing all the time. Parents share the shoyu ramen paired with fish katsu and shrimp fried rice while my sister and I get tonkatsu. The combo special is only $12.95. We brought my nephew and his girlfriend who ordered a full bowl the first time. But they quickly learned it was best to order the combo and share then order a second snack sized ramen bowl and sides. Monday - Friday, between 2 and 5, free 4-piece gyoza with regular size plate or ramen.
