I was introduced to their beef tomato years ago and every time I go back it tastes the same! Their Beef Tomato is the best!

Last night half the family was gone to a Celebration of Life for the son of a friend so there was just me and Wes home and neither one of us wanted to cook dinner. Asking what he was in the mood for I told him to choose using the "I'll buy if you fly" adage so I didn't have to change from slippers or leave the comfort of my living room. Careful consideration on his part lol "I didn't eat a Mark's this past week" he said I'll have the Minute Chicken from Mark's down the hill. Interesting enough, in all the years I've lived in Aiea...35 to be exact, I've never been to Mark's Drive In. I've been to nearly every other business, restaurant, drive thru in that little place known as Stadium Mall but never here. Looking at the menu I was surprised at the menu and the prices, guessing they survived the price increases by sheer volume because their prices are dollars below other places of the same type. Wes got his takeout of Minute chicken on Cake Noodles and I ordered the Oyster Sauce Chicken on Cake Noodles. Wes drove down the hill at 8:00 PM and picked up the phone order and was back in ten minutes with two takeout boxes weighing at least two and a half pounds each. This business is definitely one of quantity over quality and an attraction to local plate lunch lovers of the two scoop rice plates. I've passed them at lunch with guys waiting outside to get their orders. They have all the local favorites at three to five dollars less than the town places. Not sure how they do it but I'm giving them 3 stars for food, 4 stars for service and 5 stars for pricing. read more

Wondering, "What's for dinner?" Mark's Drive Inn has been here at the Stadium mall for years. (I'm a first timer) Longevity has to account for something, don't you think? My mom and sister both agreed-- the food at Mark's is decent and plentiful. Ok, "Make the call, I'm in!" 15 minutes later, we picked up our order. Oyster Sauce Chicken w/cake noodle: Dark meat pieces of well seasoned chicken that's deep fried to a crisp (it's a good thing) but still succulent. Noodles are deep fried, but, still a little chewy. (also, a good thing) This dish comes together with a slurry of Oyster sauce that's poured over the entire dish. (a very good thing) Salt & Pepper Pork Chop: Should've added the word, boneless. My favorite part of the pork chop is gnawing on the bone, and I don't mean pieces of bone. You know what I mean, right? Anyway, these "pieces" of pork is very well seasoned (see pic) and fried to a crisp. (Yes, a very good thing) Btw, I luv fried foods ... who's with me?!? Ok, so why not the full "5 star" rating?? Well, our order of -Oyster sauce chicken- was mistakenly given away to another customer who; ordered a -chicken vegetable dish- which, was then offered to us in lieu of our order ... ummm, no thank you! So, about 10 min later we got our piping hot freshly made Oyster sauce chicken. Hey, no problem, it happens. I get it. *Tip time* ALWAYS check to see if what you're picking up matches what you ordered ... and payed for ... you just might have MY order (it's not a good thing) Now, in Hawaii's "plate lunch" scene -- 2 things are VERY important: 1) the RICE better be cooked properly... not dry and chewy (our order) ... No bueno! 2) elbow pasta used in the mac salad can't be overcooked or undercooked. Ours was overcooked, very mushy and way too much mayo ... No bueno! So, 4 stars for today order. Pretty sure next time I'll give the full 5 stars. Longevity is attained by making it right. I'm sure today was merely a hiccup. - And remember, you're in Hawai'i :) :) :) Take care! read more

This is a can't miss place!!! We found it from a YouTube vlogger when planning our trip to Hawaii and it is INCREDIBLE! The prices went up slightly from last month, but that's true everywhere else. Portions are more than filling, and everything we ordered was yummy and flavorful. This was my first time trying Mark's and I was excited from all of the reviews. I tried to place a take out order via phone, but the line was busy for a while so I decided to go and place an order in-person. The line being busy gave me a hint that it was busy. When I got there, there were a few people dining in and 2 people in front of me. They were super fast and after ordering, the food came out within 10 min. I was so hungry I forgot to take a pic. I ordered the Chicken katsu and the BBQ chicken mixed plate. It was a huge plate, so definitely worth it. The chicken katsu was so crispy and juicy and the BBQ chicken has a nice ginger flavor. The mac salad was pretty good - not overpowering and it was pretty wet. I was super excited for this until I got to the rice. The outside of the rice was good, but the inner part was a bit chalky and dry. I think this was due to the rice being microwaved without enough water added to it. I didn't mind because I don't eat much rice and the chicken was really good. They probably keep prices low by reusing day old rice and reheating it, so this place is good to try if you can overlook the rice. read more

I'd compare Mark's to L&L as far as plate lunch style food, but offers a wider variety of food selections. They have local comfort plate lunch options as well as Chinese food takeout (noodles, etc.). Husband and I placed a phone order and our food was ready within 10 minutes. Service was quick, nothing fancy or terrible. It's a clean establishment and food was good. Very reasonably priced. I ordered a BBQ chicken plate with brown rice and husband got a loco moco. He didn't have any complaints so that means he was satisfied. My chicken was 'ono, nicely flavored and big portion. They are serving take out only. You can call orders in, I didn't do this, but it was still a quick pick up. Walking in there is a table with hand sanitizer and a basket to put your payment in. We ordered mini hamburger steak and a mini mochiko chicken. I stepped outside to wait for my order since the space is extremely limited. I got my order quickly and when I opened it at home it was still piping hot. The chicken was crispy and juicy. I don't care for mac salad so I opted for all rice. The hamburger steak was 2 patties, so much food for a mini plate! Cost was very reasonable, less than $20 for enough for 2 people. read more

Been a Mark's customer for years now. Food is reasonably priced, always tasty & ready in 10-15 min. Usually order the "Spiced Beef w/ Bell Pepper" or the "Beef Tomato" but everything I've ordered has at least been a solid 8/10. Impressively fast! I saw Lee K.'s review about this restaurant being near base and I needed to find uncle's favorite chicken katsu right after work. Thank goodness it wasn't busy when I got there. Thanks also to Michael C. for his reminder that it's cash only at this establishment. Pretty nifty that they have reserved parking right in front. As soon as I walked in, the employees greeted me warmly. I couldn't help but notice the good-smelling food too as they were eating late late lunch in the dining room. We stopped by after we went to the swap meet at Aloha Stadium. The place is basically take out with a few small cramped tables. My wife ordered Loco Moco and I had the chicken katsu Bbq combo. The food was spot on! The chicken was tender and tasty and the loco moco was good also. We could only eat 1/2 the meal so we enough for another meal. I have lived on Oahu off and on for a total of 14 years and return to visit periodically. Throughout all that time, Mark's Drive in has held a special place in my family's heart. The shop is tiny and seating is limited, so it's best left to take out, but that is the only detractor. The staff is friendly and efficient and the food is pure Hawaiian comfort food. All really good. The chicken had a bit more skin than I like, so I took it off. Still great flavor. Mac salad was good, not amazing. My wife had orange chicken. It was excellent. Very tasty. During Covid Mark's had the grumpy old man (yeah, sounds like me) out front. He wasn't happy to be there obviously, and the food took a downturn as well.
