A gem! Monkeypod is on the beachfront and we had perfect, unobstructed views of the water, surfers, paddlers and a seal pup! Service was perfect and I am sorry I cannot recall our servers name. We were never rushed. If Fish & Chips is on the menu, I'll order it. It was perfect. The fish was fresh and the chips were crispy. My friend, who can be a bit picky, ordered the cheese burger. Excellent. She actually took home the other half and the French fries. The place was packed by the time we left so I suggest try for a reservation no later than 2pm if you want a good ocean view. We were primarily interested in the drinks at Monkeypod, so we made a reservation at 9pm after our actual dinner reservation at 7pm elsewhere. We wrapped up our dinner sooner than we had expected, and Monkeypod was a 5 minute walk down the street, so we asked if we could be seated sooner. The hostess said yes and gave us a buzzer, but there was still about a 20 minute wait before we were seated. We started with a round of the infamous Monkeypod Mai Tais. I had seen a clip of a girl on TikTok rolling around in the waves with the caption "me after 3 Monkeypod Mai Tais" and decided that I will most certainly have what she is having. They were so good y'all. I had been in such a lilikoi (passionfruit) mood that entire trip, and that honey-lilikoi foam on top of that Monkeypod Mai Tai is to die for. It's genius, really is what it is. And delicious. And strong. I could barely taste the sting of alcohol in this tropical wonder, but by sip #3, I was feeling the heat. Perfect. I could see why she had 3. Great vibes. On our second round of drinks, we all decided to get something different from each other. Collectively, we ordered the No' Ka Oi, the Ube Rey, and the Fifty-Foot Pole. You'll have to forgive me, but as you can see by the way I described the Mai Tais, by this point, I was not in the best position to be remembering how drinks tasted if you catch my drift. But, I can offer this brief summary. Out of the three drinks ordered on our second round, I liked the Fifty-Foot Pole the best, but nothing held a candle to the Monkeypod Mai Tai.  As for food, we decided to order a couple of appetizers because we were curious and would've felt bad if we had only gotten drinks. Given that we were in Hawai'i, the Kalua Pork & Pineapple Pizza seemed incredibly appropriate. It was better than I was expecting. The spiciness from the jalapenos complemented the sweetness from the pineapple perfectly. All the toppings went together surprisingly well. I also liked the banana cream pie. The chicken wings though... meh.  I shouldn't have felt bad at all though, because when the bill came out... Zoo Wee Mama! The 6 drinks alone were $120 total. The chicken wings were $24 (diabolical). The pizza was $25. The pie was $15. In total, our bill came out to $195 before tip. Keep in mind that we didn't get any entrees, but looking at this, I'm glad we didn't.  If I were to return, I would only order drinks, which would still result in a sizable bill as each one is the price of a reasonable entree. I can't speak on the entrees, but I do think the food we did order was overpriced for what it was. Averaging out the amazing drinks with the.. "hmm.. should this be $25" food, I think that 4 stars is a fair rating. read more

Come for the good food, gorgeous view and good service! Unlike many of the other large, touristy restaurant chains in Waikiki, this is one of the better ones. Make sure to make reservations and ask for a view of the water! You absolutely must get the ahi tuna, lobster deviled eggs, macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi, wood-fired pizza, and banana cream pie. Walked up, no reservations. Wait time was only 15 minutes for our party of 4. Total score. The restaurant was busy but the noise level was quite tame. Our server was really nice and efficient. She gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu, gave opinions on what we should order based on answers to a couple of questions asked. I got the grilled fish sandwich with picked vegetables and a jalapeno mashed potato. It was 10/10 delicious. But super messy as it fell apart fairly quickly. They told me to make sure to mix all of the foam into the drink - I've seen tiktokers post these drinks and they drink the whole thing without stirring and I definitely think that would be a miss. Incredible views, superb service and excellent food. The perfect combination! Sitting literally on the beach in Waikiki, it's a beautiful place for lunch, pupu's and dinner. Spectacular sunsets, views of Diamond Head, surfers catching waves and numerous sailboats and more. Very disappointing! The first place we were seated was extremely hot. We suspected it was too close to the kitchen but we were easily 15 feet away. The servers looked miserable! I asked to be reseated and they soon moved us to another table that was opening up. Our server was full of life and energy. It wasn't enough to overcome the food but it at least made the experience pleasant. I wasn't extremely hungry, having had the worst fish sandwich ever down the street. So, I ordered the kids' saimin. It's right across the street from Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and honestly, it's the perfect escape from resort dining without sacrificing quality or vibe. The atmosphere is everything! open-air, breezy, with an upstairs feel and live music that makes the whole place feel alive but still relaxed. It's one of those spots where you can show up casual but still feel like you're somewhere special. The food was rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What really impressed me though, we had a party of 18, and they were able to accommodate us within about 30 minutes. That alone deserves a shoutout. We liked Monkeypod Kitchen so much that we enjoyed dinner twice in our weeklong vacation. We stayed at a nearby hotel and had a pleasant walk along Waikiki beach to get to Monkeypod. It is a busy place so we made reservations both times, I requested ocean seating - highly recommended. We had a beautiful ocean view while eating. There is a half window so it feels open air. Cocktails were lovely, I enjoyed the Manfuego and my husband had a Mai Tai. We also had a beer and they serve their beer COLD. Later we realized they advertised 29 degree beer, it was as advertised! So good on a warm afternoon. Food was great, I ordered the fish tacos. Amazing. We also tried several of the apps between our two visits and the Shrimp and Mushroom Potstickers were our favorite. Rolled up to Monkeypod Kitchen with some sharp valet parking. Felt like an absolute boss. We had to wait a few minutes past our reservation, but that's fine. We were then taken to our table with water in a pitcher waiting, which I have mixed emotions about. The first item ordered was a Monkeypod Mai Tai, which included: kula organic silver and dark rums, lime, house-made macadamia nut orgeat, bols orange curacao, and honey-lilikoi foam. I was not a fan of it but my girlfriend enjoyed it. We then ordered the Bourgeois Pizza, which included: fresh lobster, hamakua wild mushroom, parmesan, white sauce, organic local thyme, and garlic. We ended up splitting the pizza, which was a good idea because it was a lot of food. The pizza was delightful, but not scrumptious. The cheese overpowered everything, making the lobster almost obsolete. There was plenty of lobster, they just loaded the za with cheese. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant and the vibes were super chill. The service was adequate and the music was a little loud for my taste, especially at a mellow, sit-down restaurant. The location is in a hotel right by the ocean, which I imagine as beautiful; we had a late night reservation. My son and I made a late dinner reservation at Monkeypod Kitchen on our second night in Hawaii. We wanted to stay close to our hotel and Monkeypod Kitchen was within walking distance. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated right away. Monkeypod Kitchen is right on the beach and is open and airy. It made me wish we visited during the day so we could really enjoy the view. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were torn between a couple of dishes and our lovely server made great recommendations. We ordered the following: Garlic truffle oil fries $14 Fish and lobster pasta $59 Fresh caught fish Tacos $31 Coconut cream pie $15 The fries were great. You can't go wrong with garlic and truffle fries! I chose the tacos for my entree and my son ordered the pasta. The tacos tasted fresh, but the flavor was just okay. I had a small bite of my son's pasta and it was creamy with a decent amount of fish and lobster. We ended the meal on a sweet note; the coconut cream pie which was delightful. My boyfriend and I came here at the recommendation of my friend. We both opted for the lilikoi blueberry cream pie and strawberry rhubarb cream pie! I got the strawberry banana smoothie. Our server (a tanned girl with curlier hair) was so peppy and friendly, she made a good experience great. I wish I remembered her name so I could mention her! The cream pies were fantastic, I preferred the tartness of the lilikoi blueberry while my boyfriend preferred the sweet tanginess of the strawberry rhubarb. The portions are nothing to scoff at. If anything, I'd say that the pie crust needs a bit of work. It's definitely on the stiffer and colder side. These slices were an absolute treat to eat by the beach. This was our second visit to this Monkeypod Kitchen during our stay next door at The Sheraton Waikīkī. Brandon was our server for our first dining here and I happily requested he take care of us on our second visit. Brandon is a very attentive server, hard working guy, who is funny and a great communicator. Monkeypod is a special place and the staff here clearly are the stars of this food show. Merriman restaurants just do it better!!! Daily happy hour from 330pm-5pm daily can't be beat! Great appetizers to choose from. This restaurant location is one of my all time favorites as it's located inches from the beach of Waikiki. We love mai tais at Monkeypod! They're super strong and the lilikoi foam is delicious! They have a good happy hour, and their burgers are cooked to perfection. We stayed at the Outrigger for a week and started every day at Monkeypod. This place was easily one of the highlights of our trip. The restaurant is beautiful. BEAUTIFUL! It is very spacious, has tons of seating, and most importantly, is RIGHT AGAINST the water. The water waves literally crash into the restaurant (it's built right on the sand). So every morning, you get the opportunity to watch the sun rise while enjoying your meal! The waitstaff is awesome too. Shout out to CODY! He's the coolest and best waiter we've ever had. Everyone else is awesome too, but he was the most memorable. The food is great. Lots to choose from (see attached). We tried a bunch of them and they were all fantastic. Whether you're an eggs benedict lover, a yogurt-granola fan, or even a ramen fan, they got it here. My favorite was the yogurt-granola. Very refreshing. Lots of different fruits. Their granola is what stood out to me. It's drizzled with honey and has a nice crunch. Their granola clusters are also very large. Big plus there. Second runner up is The Cure. This place isn't easy to find and we did wait for about 35 mins because they didn't have a reservation available until much later that night. The location is amazing, right on the water and a great spot to see the sunset on a clear evening. We had the cast iron shrimp, the beet and bacon salad and the macadamia nut encrusted Mahi. The shrimp was nothing short of sublime. An amazing pairing of spicy, garlic and cumin with what I believe to be cayenne. The salad and the Mahi were equally amazing. Bravo. This place is definitely on the expensive side. Expect to pay around $125 per person before drinks. Took a friend who is from out of town to Monkeypod for dinner. I had never been so it was a new experience for us both. We had a great time. It was a Tuesday night but really crowded. I made reservations and was promptly seated at my reservation time although we got there a little early. There was a dude playing the ukulele & singing which was awesome. It's inside the Outrigger hotel so there's a mix of patrons. But you can just go through the bottom level of the outrigger to get to the restaurant in the back. There's valet parking which I wish we did. I ordered some taro ravioli for an appetizer and they were delicious with a bit of spice I liked. I had the fish & chips which were excellent, crispy on all the right parts, and delicious in the middle. They were also well seasoned. No soggy fries. 10/10 no notes. My friend had the fish tacos and she was equally impressed. My friend had a birthday coming up and they even brought here a free slice of pie with a candle which I thought was a nice touch. The place is huge and it can get loud. But I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone wanting a good meal. read more

Monkey pod offers front row seating to breathtaking ocean and Diamond Head views. I showed up without reservations for an early lunch. Ocean side was booked by others, so I was seated one table away. I watched the peaceful movement of sail boats and listened to the waves hit the shore. On man, it was nice. The menu offers a limited selection of fresh fish and meat dishes and pizzas. And of course lots of boozy beach drinks. The Happy Hour menu caught my eye with half priced apps, pizza specials, and discounted beer, wine and cocktails. I made a mental note of 3:30-5:00 for a future Happy Hour. Anyway, I ordered the fish and chips. All the fish dishes are made with mahi mahi. The fish was mild and flaky and the beer batter was fluffy. The hand-cut fries are delicious. The meal also included a small portion of an Asian style coleslaw. The slaw was good. Chelsi, my server was friendly and attentive. She checked on me and kept my water filled. The bill came and I was surprised by the 4% Kitchen Surcharge. I had heard of such surcharges, but never received one. I found it odd that the charge wasn't mentioned in the menu. I was actually annoyed by the charge as I felt all costs should be built in to the menu price (except tip, which I anticipate). Anyway, I didn't make a fuss, I just paid it. (Note to manager - please don't surprise me with charges.) Back to my review. Parking is a bear, you're going to pay for parking. I walked, so I didn't pay. The place is tricky to find, it's at the back of the Outrigger Resort. The food and ambiance are just spectacular. It's a perfect date spot - very romantic. Our whole party of 10 decided to dine at Monkeypod Kitchen for dinner on our last night of vacation. Monkeypod Kitchen is all about the vibes with their amazing ocean views. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort and Monkeypod Kitchen was just a short 10 minute walk along the beach which was so nice. We waited about 30 minutes or so for a table, which wasn't bad considering how busy they were at 6pm on a Sunday. Some of us were able to get a drink at the bar while we waited for our table and they also had tables outside of the restaurant to wait at as well. I loved the low lighting ambiance of Monkeypod Kitchen - it just felt very cozy and chill. They even had live music that just set the whole tone and vibe of the night. We ordered the Shrimp and Mushroom Potstickers to start and they were my favorite item we ate. The table also ordered Lobster Deviled Eggs and Poke Tacos - I tried the Lobster Deviled Eggs and while they were good, I couldn't really taste any lobster. For our entree, my husband and I ordered the Fish Tacos to share - they were good, but there was nothing too memorable about them. My daughter ordered the Kids Cheese Pizza and the homemade pizza sauce was great. My husband also ordered the Bartender's Special cocktail which he did not like at all, but I know the rest of the table liked their drinks. I heard Monkeypod Kitchen is known for their Mai Tai's! To end the night, we also ordered a slice of the Orange Cream Pie and the Banana Cream Pie - the orange was our favorite for sure. At around that same time, the sun was setting so we were able to watch as the sky turned into beautiful colors over the water. Hubs started with the broccoli salad. For something that seems so simple, this was a good dish. That sauce was yummy, although the foccacia was hard so we skipped it. He also went with the truffle pizza which he read so many reviews about. He enjoyed it, especially dipping the crust into that broccoli salad sauce. I went with the crab cake special, which came with 2 crab cakes (each 4 oz), green beans, and grilled cornbread. The cornbread arrived piping hot and moist - yum. The green beans were flavorful and there were big lumps of crab in the cakes - good. Although we were full, I couldn't pass up the strawberry cream pie - so rich and definitely more than enough for 2 to share. Good way to end our meal. My brothers friend told him that he had to try this place out so of course we did. It was later in the evening around 8:30pm so we thought it wouldn't be that busy but we were wrong. We had to wait about 20min which wasn't that bad. The place is off the main street area in Waikiki but not far. The restaurant is pretty big and overlooking the ocean which is cool. They had a guy playing music which was nice and he was pretty good. They sat us down near the kitchen at first but it was way too hot sitting in that area so we asked to be moved which after about a few minutes they moved us. We ordered some drinks right away which didn't take that long. Berry Good Thyme, Ai Ono, and the Monkeypod Mai Tai. All of the drinks were delicious. Most of us weren't that hungry so we just ordered a few dishes to share. We ordered the Bulgogi Pork Tacos, and Jawaiian Jerked Chicken. The dishes came out pretty quick which was nice. The chicken was cooked perfect, it was tender, and the flavor was outstanding. The sweet & spicy marinade, banana fritter, garlic rice, pineapple salsa all were a good compliment to the dish. The tacos were also delicious, tender, the Jalapenos gives it a little spice to it, and the sauce on it gave it the perfect blend of flavors to it. Came here with some friends for a semi- late dinner. It's better to get a reservation unless you're sitting at the bar. The views from this place are amazing in the day time, ocean right at your feet. The food here is always incredible. I saw they had a pizza with lobster on it, so I kindly asked if they could do the mushroom truffle pizza and add lobster on top only 9$ extra. One of my other favorite items is the ravioli, and ribeye with jalapeño mashed potatoes! read more

Born and raised but first time eating at Monkeypod. I like the variety of veggie options, fresh local flavors, and some interesting twists on comfort foods. We decided to try the avo cuke salad, taro ravioli, cornbread, and gnocchi. Flavors were interesting, though no real stunners if I'm being honest. Was mind of unfortunate actually, but it was still good. Not so good was the portion sizes and price. $9 for two pieces of cornbread is not the jam. Still, it's Waiks and fancy kine, so I get it. We came here for a New years and birthday celebration with family. Everyone was super nice and friendly. We loved Tru who went the extra mile for us to feel special. She is kind, fun, and made us feel special. Thank you Tru!!!! We had the old fashion which was a world class distinctly made cocktail. We had ahi tacos for appetizer and the Korean tacos and fish n chips for dinner. Everything was delicious and tasty. The restaurant is up close and open to the ocean. They had great live music.
