I was so excited to try out this restaurant after seeing positive reviews on social media. I will have to warn that there is barely any A/C in the restaurant since it's an open view of the beach. Everything that I ordered was delicious and I would highly recommend all 3 dishes. The fish tacos were so fresh, the jerk chicken was so tender, and the fries are deliciously crispy. Overall, I would highly recommend!
Food: virgin mai tai, poke tacos, and shrimp and mushroom potstickers. I searched for the best mai tai and this place was one that came up, but I thought it was just ok. The one I had at Hideout before was better. Tacos were ok, but the potstickers were salty. Service: very friendly service. Ambiance: I was hoping for a prime spot closer to the view, but where we sat was ok. It was a bit close to the bar area so a little noisier. Given all the great places in Waikiki, we probably will not repeat this one.
Great place for lunch. Right on the beach at the Outrigger Hotel. Our server was very friendly. We had the fish & chips, Margarita pizza & the poke tacos. The crust on the pizza wasn't crispy. The poke tacos were delicious. The chips with the fish & chips were warm. Would have liked them hotter. Overall experience was good. No where to park. I recommend uber'ing.
Easy access Beautiful view Breezy Live music Cool happy hour After spending the early afternoon on the beach this was the perfect stop in for a cocktail and some low key vibe time. Our bartender helped me pick the perfect ale to refresh from the heat. Yummy local beers in a wide variety here.
We went here on our very first night in Honolulu. My husband said it was the best meal of our trip. He got the ahi tuna and he said it was the best tuna he's ever had. I agree - it was cooked to perfection and flavor was delicious. I got the fresh catch which also melted in my mouth. For drinks my husband got the manfuego and berry good thyme. He enjoyed both. I got a virgin mai Thai which I could tell was fresh squeezed juice. Since it was our honeymoon, they gave us a complimentary dessert. We got the coconut cream pie which was also very good but nothing extraordinary. Service was AMAZING. Our waiter had so many tables but still made us feel special. Atmosphere was great. I made a reservation in advance (I highly recommend making a reservation) and requested an ocean side table. The hostess told me they couldn't accommodate ocean side but gave us a table as close to the ocean as possible It was a wonderful dinner to start our vacation and honeymoon
Beautiful restaurant inside a beautiful hotel! We were sat right by the water and saw Manta Rays as we ate dinner! The service was wonderful with such a great waiter who gave great recommendations. I had the Chefs special blue crab cakes that were the BEST we've had! Like ever! They were sooo full of fresh crab meat and the thickest we've ever seen! Paired with the garlic green beans and corn bread. I also had the mushroom truffle pizza, which I felt could've had more truffle flavor, but still decent, especially for the late night happy hour price.
WOW. I have been looking for this experience since I moved here last year. Absolutely beautiful ON-THE-WATER views. Limited foot traffic. Exceptional drinks. Great, friendly service. I had the ube drink, my friend had the mai tai. Just phenomenal. Nothing food-wise struck our fancy, but we'd do the entire experience again just for drinks on the water. Beautiful. So glad we found it. Also, the guy they had singing (the 3:30 slot on Saturday 9/12) was just wonderful. A beautiful medley of popular songs. He was really good. My friend thought it was a recording or something. Pic for reference on how close we were to the water.
We booked a late night reservation for Monkeypod Kitchen on a Friday. It's right by the beach where you can watch the Friday night fireworks. We were told by staff that we were going to have to wait 30 mins if we wanted a table next to the ocean. We were okay without a table by the ocean, but they ended up giving us a table there anyways (within less than 10 min wait). We were greeted by our server, Adam, who was incredibly knowledgable and friendly. We ended up ordering the poke tacos as appetizer and the jawaiian jerk chicken, ahi steak as the main dishes! The food was incredible!!! Everything was so yummy. Poke tacos were a good starter. Tuna was fresh. Flavor of the jerk chicken dish is sooo good! The pineapple salsa was such a yummy side. Seared ahi steak was pretty decent! Taste was great. Jalepeno mash potatoes were absolutely delicious! They also comp my beer since we came to celebrate my birthday! Usually they give free dessert but we were wayyyy too full to eat more haha ! Overall, food and service were 10/10!!
Solid 4 maybe 4.5 stars The food is really really good considering is a big touristy restaurant on the beach. We got a bunch of stuff to share. The garlic truffle fries are amazing. Worth the $14 or so they charge. Shared the potstickers. It was also excellent although pricey for 5 pcs. The gnocchi was among the best I've ever had and that includes some pretty amazing Italian restaurants in SF and Napa. The poke sampler was good but apart from the Ahi I didn't like the protein choices. Not their fault. The Ahi was excellent. The chocolate cream pie was great and I don't even like chocolate pie. The prices here aren't outrageous. This is really really excellent food at decent prices that you would expect to pay at a normally place that's not on the beach. View was amazing. Server was good but definitely I could see the young staff being not up to the same level as the food
The corn chowder is excellent as is the corn bread. The mushroom pizza with truffle oil is wonderful. Breakfast here is also great. You simply cannot go wrong. Ask for a table along the glass. Wonderful views of the ocean. We saw a monk seal on the beach.
I came to monkey pod for my daughter's wedding reception. It was a small group of us, but they were very accommodating with a reservation. The food was amazing. It was a little loud, but very fun and popular place.
We came during happy hour and had about a 10 minute wait for a table, even though we arrived right at the start of happy hour. Honestly, the wait was completely worth it. We ordered the Ube Rey, Mai Tai, taro ravioli, Kālua pork pizza, Hamakua mushroom pizza, and coconut cream pie. There were so many things we wanted to try that it was hard to narrow it down! The pizzas were definitely the standout. The first pizza was so good that after finishing it, we immediately decided we had to order another one just to try a different flavor. Both the Kālua pork and Hamakua mushroom pizzas were packed with flavor, and I loved the combinations. The menu does a great job of taking familiar ingredients and putting them together in ways that feel a little different and unique without being weird. The taro ravioli was another favorite. Everything we tried had really good flavor and felt thoughtfully put together. Our server was also quite personable and fun and the view is fantastic! You get to see both Diamond Head and the water (you might even get some ocean waves sprinkling the air with spray if you're near the window). The happy hour pricing is also fantastic, especially for the quality and portion sizes. It makes it much easier to order a bunch of different things and share, which is exactly what I recommend doing here.
Monkeypod had such flavorful food! We came here for breakfast a couple times and were delighted by their dishes. We ordered the Pete's Benedict and Farmer's Benedict. Farmer's Benedict was my personal fave, that green sauce is amazing! Jalapeno is a great touch. For the side, I tried both with greens and potatoes. Honestly, I recommend getting the potatoes as they are so good! Hot, fresh, crispy, and flavorful. We both loved their Pog juice, as well. They also make a great iced coffee. The views from the tables are gorgeous! The waves are literally crashing up against the restaurant. Service was always top notch here too.

World's Best Mai Tai is far from being accurate. Can mix POG juice and cheap rum and it would be way better. The food was excellent. Had the roasted chicken wings, poke tacos, garlic Parmesan truffle oil fries and fresh caught fish tacos. All were fantastic. read more

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FOAM! 4.8 You know that feeling when you have a song in your head and you can't stop thinking about it or humming it? Well, the Monkeypod Kitchen Mai Tai is that "song" for me. No matter how many months pass between trips to Hawaii, it's the one thing I'm always craving. First stop after our five plus hour flight is to always sit at the bar and hum my way through a Mai Tai. We've tried competitors' Mai Tais, but Monkeypod has THE BEST Mai Tai on the island (possibly the country)! It contains a double shot of rum, so pace yourself if you're a lightweight. What makes this extraordinary is the lilikoi (passion fruit) foam on the top. It's the reason I am "passion"ately in love with this cocktail. We've eaten at a table in their main dining room, however, we really enjoy bar seating during Happy Hour, which is from 3:30pm-5:00pm, daily (except select holidays) and again from 9:00pm-11:00pm. It is first come first serve at the bar. If you prefer table seating, be sure to make a reservation. The wait can be long without one. Their Happy Hour items include all of their appetizers at half price, excluding any seafood. Cocktails are $4 off, beers $2 off, wine by the glass $3 off and the pizzas (excluding the Bourgeois) are $17. All of the items we've tried are super delicious and the bartenders are all very friendly and professional. They also provide live music daily, at 12:30pm, 3:30pm and 7:30pm. Live music always adds such a refreshing and lively atmosphere, perfect for those vacationing vibes. Great food, great service and a great location. We came for dinner to celebrate a birthday and to get together with friends we haven't seen in a few years. We arrived on time for our reservation, before sunset, and we sat immediately. We were never rushed, enjoyed getting up to take some photo's as the sunset and the slice of birthday cake for our celebrant. The food, drinks and atmosphere were all more than we were expecting. The location and atmosphere are excellent, but the overall experience didn't fully impress me given the expensive prices. The Bad: The fish tacos lacked flavor (couldn't taste the fish), and the roasted chicken wings were far too salty to eat without dip. The Good: The Margherita pizza and coconut corn chowder were solid. The Best: Do not skip the Banana Cream Pie--it was pure heaven! read more
We really enjoyed this spot! The atmosphere was great, especially being right along the beach. We came in for the late-night happy hour and both ordered Mai Tais, which were pretty good. I ordered the chicken wings and thought they were very good. The Greek yogurt dipping sauce was an especially great touch and went perfectly with the wings. My wife ordered the mushroom pizza, which she felt was just okay and didn't have quite as much flavor as she was hoping for. The restaurant was very busy, but our waitress did a great job staying attentive and taking care of us. I believe her name was Maria, and she was fantastic. Overall, a great place to enjoy some drinks, food, and a beachside atmosphere! read more
Monkeypod is located in the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. There is valet parking with validation (cost depends on how long you stay and the time/day of the week). Great views of Waikiki beach and Diamond Head! Service is good, drinks came out fast but observation wise, food runners kept mixing up what tables to deliver food to. The wings and fries were great as appetizers. Fish taco and burgers needed more seasoning/flavor (so add salt/pepper or ask for sauces for your taste bud preference). Overall, we wanted to try Monkepod out (especially not being able to try them in Maui several times due to no open reservations and being very busy), but it's not a "keep coming back" place, feels commercialized like any other chain restaurant in Waikiki. read more

While on vacation in Honolulu, we stopped by Monkeypod Kitchen for lunch and absolutely loved it! Between the delicious food, beautiful waterfront setting with a view of Diamond Head, and welcoming atmosphere, it was one of our favorite meals of the trip. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and gave some of her favorite recommendations, which we really appreciated. We ended up ordering the pork and pineapple pizza that was perfectly savory and sweet for our main course. We also had the truffle fries that were crispy and paired perfectly with their aioli. Of course, we couln't leave without trying their famous Mai Tais that were perfect to drink while enjoying the ocean view. If you're looking for a relaxed lunch with great food and a view, Monkeypod is worth the visit! read more
Mai tails 10/10 strongly recommend trying it is nothing like a mai tai on the main land I had so many of these it shouldn't have been legal I enjoyed the whipped topping Jawaiian chicken - pretty good decent portion for one person not much to share but the flavor was good Fish & chips - my 7 year old god son loved it I wasn't a fan the inside of the batter was not fully cooked and it was soggy 2/10 Overall they are over priced but normal for a resort restaurant .. they have a mid day happy hour they are extremely busy most of the day we were lucky to grab a seat at the bar read more

Monkeypod Kitchen is the perfect spot for good fun and beautiful sunset views! This amazing restaurant is located in Waikiki inside the Westin resort. The restaurant is right next to the water so it is a very popular spot for dinner and they usually have a waiting list, so beware! Also, once you are on the waiting list, seating is first come first served, so you can't make any special requests to sit closer to the windows. With that being said, we got lucky and secured a really nice table with perfect sunset views, not too close to get splashed by waves (it happened to some people). For the food, we ordered a few pizzas, as well as the wings and a side of broccoli. All the pizzas are handmade and are more of a "personal" size. The pizzas were absolutely delicious and made to perfection. The wings were more of a mediterranean style and were delicious! Frankly I had never had anything like that before and I was obsessed. Also, the broccoli was cooked with some pepper flakes that gave it a very delicious flavor. Overall, everything was amazing and the staff was also five-star! read more
I can see why this place is the current hot spot... and I will not be surprised if it stays hot, hot, hot, because it is incredible. The restaurant is basically on top Of the ocean and the views take your breath away. Pro tip: try and get a sunset reservation and bring a charged phone for lots of pictures and videos. The food was soooooo good! My favorite dish was 100% the cornbread with shrimp: it was savory and spicy and a perfect amount. Even the kids seimen noodles were delicious and a large portion. Our drinks were always filled and we received the best desserts. read more

The view from the restaurant is very picturesque, just an amazing view of the beach. The service was also great, we asked for recommendations and the server explained the dishes recommended. The farmer's benedict was a solid choice, not spicy at all but please keep in mind that everyone's tolerance is not the same. The potatoes were a perfect side to the dish! But I must say that the green/fresh juice was amazing! I was worried because it had parsley (I have the soap genetic, sadly) but the server was very accommodating and let us sample the drink prior. I could not taste a hint of parsley! Such a good detox drink! read more

We made reservations accidentally during happy hour and were pleased to see some things we wanted to try were discounted, including the taro dumplings and the pizza! The menu was a fun take on seafood dishes and traditional beachfront restaurants. The hosts were the sweetest, and our server, Kylee, was so attentive and kind! She gave her recommendations for dishes, told us about happy hour, and refilled our drinks before we got a chance to ask! The band, Kaleo and Emile, were the sweetest and most talented singers. I appreciated that I could hear the music without it overpowering conversations at the table! Finally, the indoor-outdoor seating was perfectly temperate, with stunning ocean views, live music, and comfortable seating! I definitely recommend MonkeyPod for great service, wonderful food curated in a thoughtful menu, and beachy vibes! read more

beautiful view!! we ordered a piña colada, strawberry smoothie, cheeseburger, taro ravioli, garlic truffle fries, jalapeño mashed potatoes, and skillet shrimp. the white warrior piña colada was sooo refreshing and probably one of the best cocktails i've ever had. the strawberry smoothie was also really yummy, but i feel like they should market it as a banana strawberry smoothie because the banana flavor was definitely overpowering the strawberry. we saw a tiktok about the taro ravioli and had to try it--it was yummy and kind of reminded me of poi. the cheeseburger was pretty good too, and it seemed like almost every table around us had one LOL. the garlic truffle fries were yummy, and i really liked their homemade mustard. the skillet shrimp was probably my least favorite because it was SO oily that it kind of threw me off, but the cornbread that came with it was delicious. i was also pleasantly surprised by the jalapeño mashed potatoes because i was worried they would be spicy, but they had the perfect little hint of jalapeño and were so creamy. they were also such a pretty green! our waiter was really sweet and even knew/felt the vibe that it was my bf and i one-year anniversary, so they brought us a strawberry cream pie to celebrate with us. such a cute little touch and definitely made the night feel extra special read more
Great location with ocean view options and live music by great singers doing their own renditions of popular songs. It's fun to see if you can guess the song while it unfolds. Lots of delicious options so there's something for everyone. Fun for the family or date night. They also offer a happy hour and their mai tai's are some of the best around! read more

They absolutely nailed it!! There's a reason they have so many amazing reviews here. Drinks, food, service, ambience - this place does it all and they do it right! Our sever Tony was an absolute gem helped to guide our orders by our taste, and didn't disappoint! I had seen on the internet that the Monkeypod Mai Tai is one of the best in Waikīkī, and it certainly did not disappoint. This Mai Tai was so good, I want to figure out how to make it at home. The Mac nut orgeat made a difference, for sure, and the honey-lilikoi foam added a perfect tart, fruity flavor. Now, I didn't just get drinks here, though that was indeed the standout. First, we were able to be seated really quickly even though it was busy because we went straight to the bar. The bartender and servers were nice and quick with their service, even during a storm (this is during the wind and rain of Tropical Storm Lala). I ordered the taro ravioli as something that I don't normally see on menus in Oregon, and the coconut corn chowder. I had eaten so much fish on my trip already that I guess I was ready for a vegetarian meal. Both were really good. For dessert, the strawberry cream pie was decent, but not worth the $15. With so many dessert options, I would go somewhere else for dessert. The ambiance was nice, even with all the madness outside. I love the Monkeypod tree decor inside and the music was nice. This was one of the best meals I had on my trip, so I would for sure go back, if at least for Mai Tais. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my food and drink at Monkeypod. I visited twice in a week while friends were visiting. I tried the famous Mai Tai, which was very good and even better with the discount for happy hour. The lilikoi foam was tart and delicious. The pizzas were very good. I tried the truffle mushroom as well as the Moroccan spiced lamb sausage. Both had a good amount of cheese and toppings, although I had to pick off some of the fresh mint on the lamb sausage pizza as I found it a little heavy-handed. Is there take out?
Yes , you can take-out but the View of the Ocean is worth the price. Just ask for a Ocean View Table
Where do we park and do you accommodate for handicap parking?
They have valet parking service at the hotel.
Do you need a reservation?
Walk-ins are welcome, but I would highly recommend reservations as it can be busy during peak eating times.

As of springtime 2024, there's no mention of gluten-free options. Italian Tipo 00 flour is specified for their pizzas. Sorry.
Is it dog friendly?
I had dinner here on 3/17/24 and the table next to us had a dog. It barked every couple mins for a half hour and the restaurant did nothing. I'd say that's pretty dog-friendly.
Is it possible for 8 people to have an ocean view seat?
Most of the restaurant is ocean view so there's lots of seats to fit 8 people. If you're asking about beach front ocean views, it's possible to get two 4 tops, but I'm sure the wait will be long. Everyone wants those seats and it's way easier to…

If you go into the restaurant I believe they will be able to reprint a copy for you.
