Steer clear of this place. You never want to go to a place where you are afraid of your waiter and the staff. We went for a group dinner of 6+ people and we landed at Vail Chophouse. The food was a 3 starts out of 5 but the service was negative. Waiter was extremely rude and refused to split our bill by person. Once we insisted , he brought pen and paper and slammed it on the table demanding we write our down by person. No wonder this place has 3 starts. read more

Disclaimer: I'm a vegetarian. I've only been here because my loving family (who pays for my dinners in Vail) are omnivores. However, as a vegetarian, I LOVE the Vail Chophouse. They serve some delicious mac n' cheese (so good I have dreamed about it during the off season). I also recall some great vegetables, such as broccoli and asparagus, cooked to perfection. Finally, their key lime pie is to die for. I do not say this lightly, as my mom happens to make the best key lime pie on the face of the planet. Vail Chophouse's key lime *almost* lives up to hers. They also make great drinks and one time I had a wicked cold and the waiter told me to order a hot toddy-- it was delicious and I'm pretty sure the alcohol killed some of the cold germs. I also remember a magician coming around our table once when I was like 9 or 10 who did a few tricks for my family. That was super fun. Great place, even if you don't eat meat! read more

I had a nice experience at the Vail Chophouse overall. I went with a group recently on a weeknight, and the place was packed, so it'd be a good idea to make a reservation. Even though it's a Chophouse, the vibe is still casual. It took a while for our beers to come out, but when they finally did, it was a happy occasion. It's too bad our service was so slow throughout the night. We had to keep asking for silverware and napkins, which was a bit disappointing. We ordered a variety of appetizers to start the night off, but the main one that stood out to me was the Warm Brie. The fried brie, crispy pita, and thinly sliced apples were all so wonderful eaten together. I really appreciated having something different like this for a change. I highly recommend it! The Smoked Salmon appetizer was another crowd pleaser that was good. But, it didn't knock my socks off like the sweet and savory Warm Brie did. For my entree, I decided on the Pan Seared Salmon. The salmon was cooked exactly how I prefer to have it, crisp on the outside and medium on the inside. The Blood Orange Butter Sauce was too sweet for my liking, so I tried my best to avoid it on the plate. The Asparagus was so amazing and I was glad to have it on the plate since the Pea Risotto was a little hard and overdone. The portion size of my entree was huge, but it didn't stop me from taking small scoops of all of the sides we ordered. The Smoked Bacon Brussels Sprouts was my favorite side, so it's a must have. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend it. Besides the Mac lacking flavor, it had no creaminess to it that a great Mac should have. The Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes were wonderful, both moist and creamy. The O'Ryan Potatoes were ok, but not as flavorful as the mashed potatoes. We were all too stuffed for dessert, so I'll have to definitely make room for it the next time I'm there. I left full and pleased! read more

That night my family and I didn't make any reservations anywhere, so we were a group of 6 walk-ins. I highly recommend making reservations at any of the restaurants in this square as all of them were fully booked until later at night (~9:00 p.m.). We made a reservation at 9:15. The restaurant was beginning to clear out (expected as the restaurant was closing in ~40 min). Good food, which came out quickly. I have to especially tip my hat to the service. They were still friendly and respectful even though we were one of the last tables and they were near closing. read more

Food is average not great and very expensive. If it was amazing food I wouldn't mind but it really was nothing crazy.

Having grown up in tropical Malaysia, I don't really drink hot drinks. I do however make an exception when skiing. I love warming my innards with the drink and my hands by holding the cup Vail Chophouse is quite a swanky restaurant with an ideal slopeside location. Perfect for us to have a mid morning break from the slopes. They were perfectly happy for us just to have a drink and we were welcome in our ski gear I enjoyed a nice hot chocolate with lashings of cream. Well, I am burning a lot of calories on the slopes. Hehe The prices were reasonable for Vail read more

Food and service were nice. Ambiance a zero. I was seated at a half booth in the back, with football on the telly and Guns and Roses music blasting in the background. I had waited years to dine here. Based on this experience, will not be back. Expressed this to the host who seemed pretty apathetic. read more

Stopped in tonight for happy hour, 50% of all drafts, wine and appetizers. Appetizer menu very limited but got the baked Brie and pita crackers and a glass of wine. The Brie was good but didn't love the apricot sauce on top - had chili sauce in it I think. I also ordered a wedge salad, good size and delicious blue cheese. Service was excellent - very nice bartender Christina I think her name was from Bulgaria. Recent new owners so I am sure they will revamp menu for winter. read more

The service was fantastic - they went above and beyond and treated us like royalty. The food was very high-quality and absolutely delicious. The downside is the restaurant seems to be in shambles. We almost walked out after walking in because the tables are unset and wobbly, the lighting is horrible- it looks like an Applebee's in the bad part of Tucson. I don't mind spending $400 for two for dinner but you would expect to be in nicer surroundings especially in Vail. read more

The team, especially the manager here was AMAZING! Totally accommodating and a pleasure to work with. We love the chop house!

Visited Vail for my birthday with a group of friends. We had a dinner reservation one night at the Chophouse. Our reservation was at 7pm and the table wasn't ready, so we had to wait like 20min to be seated. The service and dinner was great. The prices were pretty high in my opinion. Overall, a wonderful experience with a birthday dessert included! read more

Beers cold and good price that's a positive The view was great from the patio looking at the. Mountain. Poutine fries were good. Hate to say the oysters were not good at all and not tasting very fresh. they had some milky white juices and were gritty. Easily taken off our bill when we mentioned it. Love Phil Long! read more

They charged us $65 for 2 wine spritzers and a dirty martini! The cocktails on the menu were all $16 or less! The kids Mac n cheese says it Kraft and it is $8! Their reviews are already low, maybe they should try to rip people off. read more

We went here at the end of Ski Season for lunch. We had a couple of drinks and split a burger. The food was good and the drinks were even better. We sat at the bar and was waited by the bartender who was nice!! I would recommend this place to anyone!!! read more

Snow is feet away from the front doors and a gondola ride ,that takes you 10,355 feet above the air, is part of the beautiful view. Delicious is an understatement for this place. Seriously. The server made great recommendations and I went with the Crab Cakes and a House Special- Shrimp and Scallops over a bed of jalapeño cheddar grits. The Key Lime martini is delectable, a little tart and a whole lot of sweet, and the graham crust rim makes you wish you had more than just one of this drink, or even two. read more

I called a few days ahead of our vacation to ask about their Vail Restaurant Month special- the person I spoke to was friendly and helpful and I appreciated that he let me know what the special menu was going to be ahead of time. We celebrated our anniversary there with friends last night. We were not disappointed! Andre was welcoming and helpful. Meg was an excellent server. She was patient, remembered all of our specific requests, and had the kitchen split our friend's wedge salad since they were sharing it, without us even asking for it. She took extra steps to make our meal and experience pleasant and positive- we were really impressed and appreciative. The food was timed very well and our water glasses were never empty. The garlic bread was delicious! It's regular bread with garlic cloves baked in, with soft butter on the side- I loved it. My friend had the roasted tomato portobello soup and thought it was wonderful. I loved my Caesar salad and the wedge salads seemed to be enjoyed too. My husband and I had the beef kabob special- with roasted red peppers, red onion and mushrooms on the skewer too. It was a great presentation. I thought it was delicious- the meat was so good. It was served with a big mound of mashed potatoes. I didn't have much room for them after all the bread I ate :) but they were good and my husband loved his. Our friends enjoyed their house burger. They have a good dessert menu even with some interesting sounded "drinkable" desserts too. My friend and I each had the apple pie- we were again really impressed- tons of layered apples with a slight caramel taste and a soft crust and a soft streusel type topping- it was a huge serving and some of the best apple pie we've ever had. My husband enjoyed his huge slice of key lime pie too. The restaurant is in a great location and does have a beautiful view. There is a lot of out door seating too which would be even better in warmer weather. The ambiance of the restaurant is classy and very nice but not snooty. The chairs were comfortable and we even enjoyed the music. I'm really surprised by the negative reviews. We had a fantastic experience and meal here and highly recommend it. read more

Vail Chophouse was able to accommodate our large group of about 50+ diners early on a Saturday evening. Their servers were so quick and courteous. We took up several large and small tables and our servers knew exactly who ordered what even with everyone milling about and socializing. Despite the large group, our food was incredible! This was one of our best meals while in Vail. My NY Strip was cooked to perfection. We also ordered dessert, probably one of the best (and largest) slices of carrot cake I have ever had! Thanks to everyone at Vail Chophouse for a wonderful evening. read more

I love Vail Chophouse for Apres Ski. Phil Long is a Vail institution and has been playing his show in vail for a long, long time. He is the best Apres entertainer in Vail. My only criticism is that he lets his friends on stage who lack any talent. His daughter is great but everyone else is not. For example, the elderly white rapper is a vibe killer. So in conclusion. Great for Apres. More Phil, less other randoms. read more

Had a great dinner here the other night with friends even though we thought we might just have drinks but there was too much good stuff on the menu to leave without eating a few things. The smoked salmon platter was a great opener with a hearty piece of salmon presented better than I've ever seen before. We also opened with the spinach dip which was great to share and the lobster mac and cheese that, as a mac and cheese aficionado, I can declare it amongst the best I've ever eaten. I then had the signature salad which was a healthy and delicious choice before eating a NY strip which was excellent. We went big early so there wasn't any room for dessert. Service was great and the bottle of Dominus (!!!) we had with dinner made it all the more special. read more

This restaurant is a go to for me in vail!! The artichoke dip is so different from all other typical artichoke dips and it is SO AMAZING! The pork shank is a MUST! The puree that comes with the pork shank just makes it that much better! The steaks were a little over cooked this time but they were still so tasty. The Brussels were amazing, the truffle fries were a little undercooked, the mac n cheese was very well made, and the green peas were very oily. The service is always up to par! Recommend for a nice, cool, yummy dinner! read more

Came here for the steak and was not disappointed! Ask your server how he/she recommends the different kinds of steaks being cooked. The food was excellent. It felt more like going to a diner though. They need to dim the lights, add more candles, and tablecloth's would go a long way. Apres ski here was wild. The live music was meh. read more

Sat at the bar, bartender from Texas was a great guy and was pushing "free" drinks on us all night as we sat there for dinner. Not sure why we had to sit there, showed up around 7 p.m. without a reservation and was told no tables until 9 p.m. but the place was half empty - and we stayed at the bar and only a few of those tables were seated. As for the food, I will say the bone-in rib eye was fantastic - the sides not so much. Not that they were bad, just nothing unique and not very flavorful (brussel sprouts probably the better of the few, mashed potatoes had no seasoning at all) Forgot to mention, started with two dozen oysters and those were better than average. read more

We were pleased with our experience at Vail Chophouse. French onion soup was possibly the best I've ever had. Wedge salad was unique. Filets were cooked perfectly. Try this place! read more

To preface, we understand serving a group of 11 takes an effort, time and patience. However, errors in meals and quality of dishes aren't acceptable. For a chophouse to run out of meat items is lack of planning ahead. A good $60 steak with a lot of gristle isn't good. A lukewarm sea bass isn't alright, and an well done medium-rare filet topped it all. Granted they discounted our meals, free cocktails and comped the filet, but you think they'd have it down. Our server was nice, apologetic and understanding, as was the manager. Oh and last but not least, as we were leaving, what hostess puts her feet up at the podium to wish us a good evening? Glad she wasn't wearing a dress! read more

Hands down the best restaurant with a view in Vail. Must try the Pork buns...delicious! The appetizers and steaks are phenomenal. Our service is always so great when we come in! Someone please gently inform the owner/singer that he is far too loud for such a small space.

My wife and I got a quick lunch while skiing. We got sat inside quickly and received our food fast aa well (on a Sunday). I went there on a Monday afternoon for lunch during the ski season- deck was more busy than inside. Lots of space inside. It was clean for what I could tell and for what I paid attention. Comfortable sitting and great view. Now as far as food - it's was good! The value is even better if you consider that you're in Vail. Not saying it's amazing or something special but it is definitely above average. Because of the nice & cozy atmosphere and absolutely great value I give it 5 stars. read more

Not like me to leave such a despicable "one star" review BUT...after an amazing love affair with a delectable Prime Rib "French" Dip on my last visit, one truly worthy of the French-esq culture and architecture of The Arrabelle and all that surrounds it, sadly I will not be returning. The waiter on this visit, or lack there of, was only second in quality to the wilted vegetable & spinach dip. Do yourself a favor and pass this one & the wilted veggies on your next visit. read more

If you are looking for a high-end steakhouse in Vail, this is not the place. Although it might appear to be, I can assure you it is not. Steak was not cooked anywhere close to the it was ordered, either that or they mixed it up with someone else's. Although props to the server for knocking 50% off. Maybe I just caught them on a bad night, but probably wouldn't go back here on my next trip to Vail. read more

We've been in Colorado for a few short days. Flew into Denver, shacked up to Steamboat, drove our way to Glenwood, Did a bit of exploring in Vail- JT, the Bartender was BY FAR, the best service we've experienced to date! I'm impressed. So personable, and knowledgeable. So from the gate we were sold. And then the food? Oy Vey. Holy Moley.. SO. Fuckin. Good. We started with the Calamari and were blown away. Cooked perfectly, delish! Alright okay. Moved on to the Cesar salad which was.. a Cesar salad? Lol. But they let us split it for $13? Deal. Then... We struggled with our entrees. EVERYTHING looks delicious. We settled on the Trout & the Pork shank- SOLID!!! However- the Trout was unmatched. It was my first time having it and literally blown away. The bartender, JT convinced me. We'll be back read more

Definitely not the chophouse we were expecting. Location and clientele drives the prices on the menu in comparison to the food. We ordered the salmon, wedge salad, ribeye steak, and the charcuterie board. I'm pretty sure the ranch on the wedge was Hidden Valley bottle dressing. Our waitress was great I will say. But overall disappointing. The windows were dirty, finger printed in most areas. read more

We had a wonderful meal here. Definitely recommend the warm Brie, it was perfect! I had the signature salad, which was absolurely delicious. The mashed potatoes were quite bland, we would not recommend those. My husband had the burger which came with several fairly unique toppings(avocado, bacon, mushroom, onions, jalapeños) at no additional charge. He was also able to upgrade to truffle fries for no additional charge. The key lime pie topped off our meal and it was so delightful. Excellent meal, high prices but to be expected for Mountain View's and an upscale meal. read more

It was an interesting experience. I went in after skiing all day and went to get a seat. Asked the lady up front if to see if they were serving food and booze outside and she said yes, just grab a table. I did. And waited. At some point I was waiting so long. Went back in and asked a different lady where the server is and she stated they weren't serving outside. I was a little taken back. We then said we need a seat. They sat us in the back area away from everything and that is where we stayed. The second part was just as bad as the first. They messed up the order, never were around checking on how we were doing and the server was actually rude to us. The only thing that was good was the nachos we ate. Which hit the spot. If it wasn't for the poor service I may have even liked this place. read more

Went here hoping for a good relaxing meal. Ordered calamari and that was a good starter. When the steak came out, it looked good but once we cut it open, it was over cooked. It was ordered medium-rare, came out medium well. After informing the staff, they took it back and gave us an excuse of "he never makes this mistake, we are sorry". After a short wait, another steak came out, this one being rare. We didn't send this one back but easily could have. Unfortunate when the steaks are this expensive. The staff was very attentive when they had the time - but they seemed overwhelmed. It took quite awhile to get orders in and see our waiter. I would say management didn't have enough staff on for the busy evening. Not the waiters fault - he did his best with what he was given. read more
