I've dined here on several occasions. They have an amazing bison burger, bison chili, and many other satisfying choices before, during, or after time on the slopes. I can't resist the bison burger. Always cooked to perfection, and the accompanying fries are crispy and just right. We also shared their buffalo wings - done perfectly, and not breaded, which I prefer. One of my friends has the Caesar with a salmon add on. It looked great as well. Service is always very good with attentiveness to filling water (gotta stay hydrated in the mountains!). The service was slow (understandably), the food was unremarkable with the only standout being the massive bone-in tomahawk ribeye (most expensive thing on the menu). 3.5: To be located inside such luxurious hotel with amazing view outside, you expect excellent experience on the night of your vacation. Positives: Bison(?) Tomahawk was unexpectedly soft and tender with good amounts of fat. The use of roasted whole black garlic was an excellent choice. It enhances the flavor more with crispy brussel sprouts. You may start to feel heavy with such use of oil, but the spicyness of the chili inside the brussel sprouts and baked potato kicks it away gently. I recommend the 3 plates ordered together. Upgrades: You are greeted by a server with such strong cologne that erases your appetite everytime he passes by. Also, to be mentioned in the signature menu, it is almost rude to throw a bag of Fritos chip on a plate. As simple as dumping the chips next to the plate has more finesse. read more

The kind of quality, and pricing, that you would expect from a Ritz Carlton restaurant. I was unsure of ordering the poke, it was $26, but my husband told me to go with it. I'm glad I did! The poke was tender it melted in my mouth. It was really spicy but I handled the heat like a pro. Overall great service, great food. Can't give it the 5th star because I don't believe my poke, wine and tip was a $50+ meal. read more

Walking in to the Ritz you can't help but expect an amazing meal. The building, the decor, the brand, are amazing. Our experience at Buffalos though was among the worst dining experiences of my life. The service was scattered and unprofessional. The burgers (which we ordered medium) were nearly raw. The bison steak was not bison. The the salads came out after the entrees. The wine markup was 700%. We will never be back to eat at Buffalos, and I question whether or not we will ever go to another Ritz restaurant. read more

Beautiful location and ambiance! Casual but lux. Gracious staff from the valet parking to our waiter. The whole evening felt magical! Crazy though, our starter was the humble deviled egg! Not upscale, just basic, but good. I ordered the Duck Confit salad and did not walk away hungry! More than I could eat! Very savory and very salty! Being keto though, it was perfect. Hubs ordered the Bison Burger based on the raves here on Yelp, so I won't elaborate, but he said it was juicy and tasty, and my gift bite was melt-in-your-mouth awesomeness. Pricey though, must say we've never paid $24 for a burger before. After dinner we joined the crowd in the lobby for an amazing, talented concert by Don Watson, a Saturday night regular that does a 4 hour show of talent beyond your dreams! This guy rocks! His guitar and voice skills mesmerize as he takes request after request from John Denver to the Beatles. He belts out Italian and Spanish and has been known to even play at big venues in Australia. However, we were not pleased with the service and how we were accommodated. We had to sit outside in the heated tent, but did need to wear our thick jackets and hats. After 5 stays at the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch over the last two years, I can honestly say I have never had a poor experience at Buffalos. The food here is high quality, and locally sourced. The top notch service stays true to the hospitality extended by the hotel. Whether you're ordering from the bar menu poolside, or eating at Buffalos, you are sure to find some favorites. My favorites minus the pork toppings) are: 1. Marco's Tacos: sirloin | chopped bacon | onions | cilantro 2. Bison Burger: thick-cut pepper bacon | white cheddar cheese I smoked poblano aioli | arugula I avon bakery organic bun 3. Slow-Cooked Bison Chili: cheddar cheese | scallions They do have seasonal items that do change and the last time we were there (in May), they had these amazing smoked chicken nachos that were to die for! The fact that they have such a great menu makes it really difficult to leave the hotel for meals, and at such a fair price point, it's really a no-brainer! read more

We were surprised to discover the Buffalo Bar has been completely redone, the kitchen expanded and the quick serve breakfast cafe (once located nearby) completely eliminated. The dark atmosphere had been replaced with a modern - but still very much woodsy decor. The name is now simply "Buffalos". Prices at Buffalos seem somewhat higher than they were before, but the food offered is much better. Lunch or dinner will cost $19-$25 for a burger with a salad or fries. I strongly recommend you zero in on the Bison Burger (with cheese and an avocado added, if you like those add-on's ). I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best tasting burgers I've ever had anywhere! Unless you're really starving, the burger and salad is going to be all you'll need. If you're extra hungry (perhaps during dinner, after a long day on the slopes) another reasonably priced delicious treat is the Shepherds Pie - a very authentic (and somewhat rich) treat. If you're still famished at the end of all of this (and have a sweet tooth), try the (also authentic) Bread Pudding. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a real treat. Service here was impeccable for us - we were served by John (who was extremely knowledgable and very polite). You can order and eat just about anywhere nearby (outside on the patio, in booths, on sofas, or even on seats and sofas in the Ritz-Carlton Great Room near the fireplace)! If you're into TV's and don't want to miss a game, fear not... you'll find a TV located on almost every wall in Buffalos! read more

Now, the poutine is not exactly authentic (according to my French Canadian), but it was still very tasty to me. We just arrived at the Ritz Carlton and were super excited to be at this beautiful hotel with all the rustic scenery. We looked at the reviews and decided to go to Buffalos because it was the highest rated, and the menu looked great. My husband and 2 older children and myself were seated right away. We looked over the menu and made our selections. As the waiter took our orders, he let me know that they no longer had any of the chicken tiki masala because the other table all ordered it. Ok, that would have been nice to know that they were out of something before letting us read the menu for 15 minutes. We all 4 placed our orders. Me and my daughter ordered the grain bowl with Salmon, the waiter even told us the salmon came medium well. The food took quite a bit longer than what I would have expected, and I had drank my drink and was not offered another. The food came and our grain bowl had no salmon. I told the woman who delivered the food, to let the waiter know that we did not get the salmon on our grain bowls. Me and my daughter sat and watched my husband and son devour their food because they didn't want it to get cold while they waited for our salmon to be brought out. We also watched our waiter serve the table of 4 men and go back and check on them about 3 times. We sat and waited. Our waiter never acknowledged us or if the salmon did get re-ordered, so after 30 minutes and both of the boys finishing their dinner, I got up and had to walk up to another waiter to ask if they could send our waiter over to let us know what was happening. He came over and said, "I'm sorry I forgot to add the salmon, the meal is covered." Then left. We waited for another 15 minutes and both of our salmon was brought out to us on 1 plate. We were expected to split that! I know there are accidents like forgetting to order something, but the waiter never checked on us for over 30 minutes after we got our food and just the fact that I had to get up to find a waiter to get service is something I have never experienced in a fine dining restaurant. I was frustrated to watch my husband and son eat their food and then wait 30 minutes to even find out what's going on with me and my daughters food. I'm glad they covered our meal, but we still had to pay a heck of a lot more money for that crappy experience. Definitely disappointing. read more

The thing that I like is the attention to detail service the staff has. You kind of expect it out of a restaurant in a Ritz property, but this was over the top. While staying in Beaver Creek, having lunch at Buffalos before hitting the slopes again, it seemed as though the waitress had too many tables under her belt. There was another waitress that came over to our table and asked if we were ready to order and before we could utter a syllable, the waitress that had our table in her "section" shooed her away telling her that we were her table. It took this lady another 10-15 minutes to circle back around to our table to take our order. I know I didn't look pleased as my facial expressions hint at all my emotions. We ordered and it took the food quite a while to come out as well. Overall, my rating stands. The food is good, the view is good and the atmosphere is good. Those are the 3 stars I give this place. Having been a lifelong fan of Ritz Carlton properties (we have stayed at dozens all around the world), the restaurant in Bachelor Gulch was, in a word, not to their standards. The best item we ordered was the buffalo chili, which had to be sent back as it was cold. Once it returned, the flavors were rich and tasty. Basically everything else we had was oily, not fresh tasting, and an "afterthought." Worst of all was the lobster mashed potatoes. Flavorless, old mashed potatoes with leathery lobster pieces. Horrendous. Without going through every other dish, suffice it to say that we won't be back. Room service: must be from the same kitchen, since -- although the off menu chicken soup was delicious -- the vegetarian white wine pasta was inedible. read more
