Korean noodle bowl with salmon. Truffle fries in the background.
    Haley R.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great patio that's dog friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good variety with American food, Asian dishes, variety of soups and good drinks. The truffle fries were delicious and a great dim sum appetizer. The Korean cold noodle bowl was good and the salmon was cooked perfectly. My friends enjoyed the grilled cheese and the bison chili was great with all the fixings. Excellent service too.

We came here to meet up with family who were in town at the same time and overall it was an enjoyable experience l. We sat outside taking in the pretty Mountain scenery and the umbrellas offered plenty of shade against the crazy heatwave! They were having some tiki day with specials on frozen cocktails and a take on poke bowls with shrimp which was a great deal but our server had to be asked several times as he Juat presented the standard menu and claims to have forgotten about this promo!! That said service was good and friendly! We had the standard poke bowl which was excellent - also huge as three of us shared it with some left over! We also had truffle fries as I love truffle anything but these were not great and pretty bland! A nice lunch, good service, overall fine!

We stopped by après ski for bubbles at the bar. Omg the bubbles were so fresh! Very nice. Our server Brian was very nice n friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love that people seemed happy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The view from the patio on July 4th!

The patio is lovely and the yellow umbrellas add wonderful charm. The view of Vail Mountain from Lionshead is gorgeous. I'm surprised at the reviews, because the Bahn mi and burger were both delicious, with excellent texture and good portions. The crispy pork bahn mi was perfect, crispy, chewy, sweet and spicy. The fries were crispy and delish. Burger was nice and juicy on a brioche bun. Good pours on the wine. Zero complaints, only praise. We had a late lunch on the 4th of July, and our server Dani treated us wonderfully.

I really enjoyed my meal at Tavern on the square. Although the menu was not extensive, we each found something we liked. I tried the Pappardelle with a meatball and red sauce and my boyfriend had the bison chili and chicken pot pie. I loved the flavor of the pasta and the meatball was tender and delicious. His pot pie was also prepared very nicely and he mentioned how it brought back nostalgic memories of his grandmother. Overall, we had a great experience. And we will be back again.

Mahi banh mi--a little bland and way too much bread

Ambiance was nice and great location near the lifts at Lionhead. Unfortunately food was very pricey and not very good. My dining partner got fish and chips and was offered kale salad instead of chips. He got mostly shredded Brussels sprouts which was not good. Kudos to the server for offering complimentary chips (fries) since the salad was such a disappointment. The fish was quite good, but the pieces were small. I had the Mahi banh mi. The nori fries were very good (basically just fries dusted with seaweed) and the mahi was cooked well, but it was very minimally seasoned and on a huge bun which totally overwhelmed the sandwich. There are probably better lunch options for the next time we are skiing at Vail.

Loved it for lunch and breakfast!!! We got off the mountain at 2 pm for the AFC playoff game and grabbed a seat at the bar for lunch and the game. Exceptional service & delicious food! I had the burger and it was exceptional (so were the fries). Fast and friendly. I had brunch there on Sunday morning. It's not a huge selection, but had everything I needed. Enjoyed the omelet station (and Chef also makes fresh waffles). Service was great and can't beat looking out the windows at the mountain. I believe it is $42 if you aren't staying there. Wonderful!!!

We came in the summer and enjoyed a beautiful meal on the outside porch with a beautiful view. My Cobb salad was delicious as was the artisan bread appetizer. Most staff were great. It is a bit confusing/unclear if you should check in outside or inside (and we saw at least 3 other groups in the same position). I would come back!

Great restaurant. The live music was so enjoyable as well. Able to walk in and get a seat pretty fast. Breakfast was nice here too. And I liked how you can sit inside or out back to see the slopes Great spot in Lionshead.

    Eggs, potatoes, and sausage

Came here for Brunch when we were in town. Got sat pretty quickly on a Saturday afternoon, then again it was off season. I ordered the veggie eggs benedict with hash potatoes and a mimosa. Service was pretty quick with ordering and receiving the food. I thought the eggs benedict was done very well. The eggs were cooked perfectly, still runny. You could tell the hollandaise was made fresh. The veggies were sauteed in what looked like a pesto sauce and were delicious. The potatoes were crunchy and soft. My boyfriend got eggs sunny side up with sausage , and potatoes. He loved it as well. I was really pleased with the food, and would come back here to try more items on the menu!

**15/10; iconic, must be protected at all costs**…read more My girlfriend and I are in Vail for the weekend to watch dogs jump into water, as one does. We're staying at the Grand Hyatt, which has been... fine. Meh, if we're being honest. A local recommended Mountain Standard, so we tried to make a reservation on OpenTable and quickly learned they were booked solid until tomorrow (a great data point, btw). But, being the swarthy pirates that we are, we showed up anyway; and thank sweet baby Jesus, we found two seats at the bar. Our barkeep, Gummow, a fellow swarthy pirate, was excellent in every possible way. His bar back, Rowan, could not have been a better support man. Together, they delivered the kind of service that makes you remember why hospitality is an art form. And the food? Absolutely to die for. My girlfriend had the oxtail, and I had the mock paella. Both were incredible. The service, the food, the environment; every facet was dialed in. We will be going back tomorrow for lunch, possibly dinner, and possibly to inquire about monthly rent. As a former service industry worker myself, real recognize real. This place and these people are it. Mountain Standard is iconic and must be protected at all costs.

They were able to get us in with a 30 minute wait. We got lucky and sat at the bar while we waited. I had a margarita while I waited and on an empty stomach it hit quick. The Oxtail was delicious but didn't look appetizing. The pork shank was delicious Little pricy but overall a nice experience.

I have been here many times over the years but my recent visit was by far the best! We started off with the whipped feta appetizer, which was very big and definitely shareable. The feta was so smooth and creamy and paired well with the cracker and honey. Next I had the filet mignon. This was out of this world. Filet was so tender and delicious. It would have been great on its own but the sauce was delicious along with all the accompaniments! It was a very thoughtful meal. Others in my party had the halibut and lamb and both were amazing! We did not have dessert this time but I have had the sticky toffee pudding and it's amazing!!! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because one of the halibuts came out a little cold. And to stumble upon this chic and inconspicuous cocktail bar in the busy downtown was something I wasn't expecting and became a treat after a nice stroll through the town after dinner in my hotel room. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was at the place where my heart was calling for. There were two gents at the bar and one of them warmly greeted me and said I could sit anywhere I would like. I hence picked one of the bar seats. Except one table that was occupied by a couple I was the only one. I appeared to have picked the right time; I had the whole bar to myself (eventually though, several different groups of people streamed in; only a few of them sat at the bar close to me. The bar was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a little over 10 people.) Jeremy, who greeted me upon arrival, was a super host. As soon as I explained that wine is my usual got-to, he said he could mix and match reds and whites to create a "flight" based on what I had told him as to my likings. His extensive explanations as to what sorts of reds and whites the bar offers/serves was (of course) all in his memory. His eloquent speech with no filler words truly impressed me; he sure is a wine connoisseur. What he picked for me were... -2024 Pepiere "Les Gras Moutons" (Muscadet) -Kobal "Bajta", Hazole Belo (aka Orange Wine) -Sandlands "Red Table Wine (Lodi Red Blend) With his wealth of knowledge, after giving him only a hint of what I liked, what Jeremy selected for me to sample/sip was a superb choice. All of them were world-class excellence with elegance and beauty. I carefully and slowly sipped each one little by little to truly immerse myself in the art of wine. Yes, wine is a piece of art for sure. I think I said it correctly at the beginning of this review. This is a cocktail bar with variety of spirits which Jeremy could easily concoct just about anything from gin-based one to vodka-based one to tequila-based ones to whiskey-based one to name several. For those who don't drink, their zero-proof section also has something interesting to browse and choose. Not to mention, rotating pilsner or IPA on tap to name a few from the beer section as well. If you need a little bite to eat, their (changing) food menu has a good number of New American-style plates. The bar originally opened in a different building back in 2015 (I believe). They moved to the current location in 2019. They also offer various different classes so you can expand/extend your knowledge. So for your next foodie vacation in Vail, make sure to include Root & Flower in your list.

Price: Expect standard Vail pricing for high-end cocktails, with most drinks ranging between $16-$20. Customer Service: The service was fantastic. The staff was incredibly kind and efficient; even though we stayed for quite a while to catch up, we felt welcomed and well-attended to the entire night. Atmosphere This spot has a cool, welcoming vibe that feels very safe. It's the kind of environment where you can really settle in and enjoy the company you're with. The Drinks I ordered the Sangre del Sol. The flavor was amazing, though be warned it is very strong! It's an excellent choice if you enjoy a cocktail with a serious kick, but I ended up letting my friend finish mine after a few sips. Overall Experience I highly recommend Root & Flower for a beautiful setting and top-tier service. Pro Tip: A huge bonus for this location is the parking! You can park for free after 3 PM at the S. Frontage Rd. East garage right nearby. I'll definitely be back!
