Truffle fries
Sam P.

We came here to meet up with family who were in town at the same time and overall it was an enjoyable experience l. We sat outside taking in the pretty Mountain scenery and the umbrellas offered plenty of shade against the crazy heatwave! They were having some tiki day with specials on frozen cocktails and a take on poke bowls with shrimp which was a great deal but our server had to be asked several times as he Juat presented the standard menu and claims to have forgotten about this promo!! That said service was good and friendly! We had the standard poke bowl which was excellent - also huge as three of us shared it with some left over! We also had truffle fries as I love truffle anything but these were not great and pretty bland! A nice lunch, good service, overall fine!

Après ski! Bubbles

We stopped by après ski for bubbles at the bar. Omg the bubbles were so fresh! Very nice. Our server Brian was very nice n friendly. Love that people seemed happy.

The view from the patio on July 4th!

The patio is lovely and the yellow umbrellas add wonderful charm. The view of Vail Mountain from Lionshead is gorgeous. I'm surprised at the reviews, because the Bahn mi and burger were both delicious, with excellent texture and good portions. The crispy pork bahn mi was perfect, crispy, chewy, sweet and spicy. The fries were crispy and delish. Burger was nice and juicy on a brioche bun. Good pours on the wine. Zero complaints, only praise. We had a late lunch on the 4th of July, and our server Dani treated us wonderfully.

Bison chili

I really enjoyed my meal at Tavern on the square. Although the menu was not extensive, we each found something we liked. I tried the Pappardelle with a meatball and red sauce and my boyfriend had the bison chili and chicken pot pie. I loved the flavor of the pasta and the meatball was tender and delicious. His pot pie was also prepared very nicely and he mentioned how it brought back nostalgic memories of his grandmother. Overall, we had a great experience. And we will be back again.

Mahi banh mi--a little bland and way too much bread
Jane W.

Ambiance was nice and great location near the lifts at Lionhead. Unfortunately food was very pricey and not very good. My dining partner got fish and chips and was offered kale salad instead of chips. He got mostly shredded Brussels sprouts which was not good. Kudos to the server for offering complimentary chips (fries) since the salad was such a disappointment. The fish was quite good, but the pieces were small. I had the Mahi banh mi. The nori fries were very good (basically just fries dusted with seaweed) and the mahi was cooked well, but it was very minimally seasoned and on a huge bun which totally overwhelmed the sandwich. There are probably better lunch options for the next time we are skiing at Vail.

Loved it for lunch and breakfast!!! We got off the mountain at 2 pm for the AFC playoff game and grabbed a seat at the bar for lunch and the game. Exceptional service & delicious food! I had the burger and it was exceptional (so were the fries). Fast and friendly. I had brunch there on Sunday morning. It's not a huge selection, but had everything I needed. Enjoyed the omelet station (and Chef also makes fresh waffles). Service was great and can't beat looking out the windows at the mountain. I believe it is $42 if you aren't staying there. Wonderful!!!

Great restaurant. The live music was so enjoyable as well. Able to walk in and get a seat pretty fast. Breakfast was nice here too. And I liked how you can sit inside or out back to see the slopes Great spot in Lionshead.

Eggs, potatoes, and sausage

Came here for Brunch when we were in town. Got sat pretty quickly on a Saturday afternoon, then again it was off season. I ordered the veggie eggs benedict with hash potatoes and a mimosa. Service was pretty quick with ordering and receiving the food. I thought the eggs benedict was done very well. The eggs were cooked perfectly, still runny. You could tell the hollandaise was made fresh. The veggies were sauteed in what looked like a pesto sauce and were delicious. The potatoes were crunchy and soft. My boyfriend got eggs sunny side up with sausage , and potatoes. He loved it as well. I was really pleased with the food, and would come back here to try more items on the menu!

We came in the summer and enjoyed a beautiful meal on the outside porch with a beautiful view. My Cobb salad was delicious as was the artisan bread appetizer. Most staff were great. It is a bit confusing/unclear if you should check in outside or inside (and we saw at least 3 other groups in the same position). I would come back!

Bad service. Food not that good either. Staff is rude and has no common sense. I would recommend chophouse next door.

Sparse menu, below average food, ridiculous prices, lackluster service. Most items seemed store bought or microwaved.

Dinner reservations are available 30 days out on Open Table, and they go instantly. I heard them quote 2+ hours for walk-ins, so definitely plan ahead if you can! Cocktails: I've always loved their cocktails, so even if you don't have dinner here, you should at least check out the bar. I've never been disappointed in any drink I've gotten. Dinner: - Butternut baba ganoush: all the flavors of baba ganoush but with butternut squash, and the warm pita was great - Fire roasted tomato and chorizo soup: a bit on the thinner side, smoky, interesting - Buttermilk sea salt biscuit: rich, flaky, with extra butter, country ham, and red pepper jelly - Warm pimento cheese: I don't usually care for pimento, but their's is great with grilled bread. They also use this on their burger at lunch - Wood grilled octopus: nice wood fire flavor, great ham hock beans underneath, grilled avocado - Crispy brussels sprouts: interesting flavor with the grilled avocado sikil pak - Wood fired pork chop: tender, generously sized - Grilled cobia: wonderful warming pineapple coconut curry, charred pineapple, and fresnos for a kick - Seafood diavolo: very flavorful (my dad found it too salty), served over polenta Lunch items: - Fresh catch: Argentenian shrimp and polenta - like shrimp and grits, very flavorful - Grilled cheese and soup: always a good combo - Burger: we added the onion rings, which had a good kick to them They also had a really solid kids' menu, which I appreciate. Despite how busy they are, service is attentive, and the manager came by personally to check in, which was a nice touch. Food and drink pacing was also good despite it being packed. They have their system down! There's a reason why we keep coming back trip after trip!

Other employees helped with service, including clearing plates and inquiring if we needed anything. The restaurant is definitely number one at customer service and I loved how everyone worked together. Even though the restaurant was busy, we did not feel lost in the shuffle. It was clean and inviting. They offered an array of choices, so there would be something for everyone if you decide to dine here. The food was good, preparation and display were done carefully, but the taste was overall just ok. The appetizers we chose were Warm Pimento Cheese, which was mildly flavorful, but good, and Prime Beef Carne Apache, which had no flavor at all. The main courses we chose included a pork dish and a chicken dish. The chicken had great flavor, but was placed on a bed of potato wedges which were not all completely cooked through. We felt this took away from the overall dish. The accompanied sauce made with yogurt and poppyseed did not add any flavor to the dish. The pork dish had great flavor. The drinks accompanying the food were made well and tasty. The kids menu has an array of choices as well, and our choice of macaroni and cheese was a hit! We ended with a frozen snicker bar dessert that tasted exactly like a frozen snickers bar. Overall, we had a very nice evening and would definitely visit again.

Almresi Vail - Pork shank was just as excellent as Pat , the bar tender.

A really lovely experience in Vail. The Austrian ambiance is over the top on just the right way,…read moreand it fits in with Vail's faux-Alp atmosphere quite well. The food was also delicious. I tried the porcini mushroom soup with truffle dumplings and all of it was delicious and savory and warm, and even served with a delightful carnation on the side! For the main course I tried the pork shank (Schweinsaxon?) and the meat was fall off the bone good. The mashed potatoes were tasty but the sauerkraut was truly phenomenal. It's not a bargain meal, but it's not nearly as expensive as it could be, being tucked into Vail and visited by a very wealthy cadre of visitors. The service was also great. I commented on one of the waitstaff's steampunk goggles and he asked if I wanted to try them on for a photo op. I declined, but laughed at the invitation. All our questions were answered with politeness and ease, and I was quickly taken care of when I asked to buy a slice of cake on the way out. Would love to make this an annual December visit tradition.

The amount of fondue was absolutely paltry, especially given it was supposed to serve two people and cost $80. We had a nearly full basket of bread remaining after eating all the cheese. They also provided boiled potatoes and blanched vegetables to dip in the cheese along with dried fruit but that only made the meager cheese situation worse. It was more appetizer sized and even the fondue itself was bland and lackluster with no flavors of kirsch, wine, or other seasonings. We had to go somewhere else to actually get dinner. I appreciate the waiter discounting our meal to try and make up for it. The portions of the other entrees looked good so maybe go here for those and skip the fondue.
