I love restaurants like these! Do you ever watch ski movies from the '80s or snowboard movies from the early 2000s? All of the cool locals hang out at places like this. It's warm and cozy; there's a ton of crap on the walls; they're not trying to be too showy, and everyone that works there looks like they ski or board. It's fantastic! And this is one of those! The food is slightly better than bar quality, and the drinks aren't special, but they don't need to be; you just order a ton of them, and the best thing is you won't run up your bill in doing so. You come here après-ski to just let it all hang out with some buddies. It's so unbelievably special in this day and age, and all the other eating establishments get it so horribly wrong with their frou-frou menus and utilitarian dining layouts. Terrible experience tonight We ordered fish tacos and an appetizer. we received our appetizer and noticed folks who came after us got their meals. I asked our waiter Ryan if our fish tacos were coming soon. He said we didn't order them yet. What. Of course we did. He argued with us so we left. Over the summer 2022 they were closed for a remodel, and the new layout is great, particularly because it now has a to-go drink window to the outside. I could also see the main wall to the outside is a garage door style so I suspect in the summer months it will become an awesome open air restaurant. Only downside is the bar is now where the projection screen used to be, with the old school ski movies, so less seats are able to see the screen now in its new location. That being said, for Christmas through New Years 2022, the place is very hot, very humid, and has a very strong odor to it. I'm not saying it's a bad odor, but very distinct odor of food that will leave with you on your clothing. I know this because I visited twice and the clothes I was wearing each time brought the smell back to our hotel room and it persisted for a day each time. So, my advice is layer up so you can remove layers when inside, and don't take any clothes you don't want to have smelling like the restaurant for an extended period. My other two fav's, Hooked and Dusty Boot, don't have this issue. Food-wise, the pork green chili was a real delight the past two seasons, but the recipe seems to have changed and it tastes more like something generic out of a can. First time I haven't finished it and I've ordered it probably ten times over the past two years. Burritos and enchiladas continue to be great. The salsa and queso are also great, but they can trend towards the spicy side (yes the queso too), which I love, but sometimes kids aren't fans. The drinks are fantastic. If you want margaritas, do not go to Dusty Boot where the cocktails are particularly bad, come here, they're so much better. They have a variety of tequilas and some mezcals. Final note, they will not split checks across parties; best you can do is figure it out yourself and they'll let you tell how much to charge on each card. I hate to go three stars as I do like the place, but between how hot and humid they keep it, the smell that comes home with you, changing the pork green chili, and adding that extra hassle of figuring out how to split your own checks, it lead to me being less excited to visit again as it all combined to lessen the experience of prior seasons. I was just there for nine days and increased my visits to Hooked and Dusty Boot while decreasing Coyote Cafe. I'll be back in February and March and will update my review if anything changes as I'll probably do at least one night at Coyote on both trips, or at the very least pop in and if things are as they are, will grab a marg from the to-go window and move on. read more

It's been years since I've been in here. We decided to stop in for a last minute dinner with our little. Interesting customer service and the place has had a face lift since I've been. When we entered, no one was at the hostess stand. A server walked by and asked if we had been helped yet. We said not yet and they kept walking. Oh okay lol. Then a gal asked if we had been helped and we said no not yet and that we'd love a booth (they had three open). She looked at them and asked to wait. She circled around the restaurant and looked at all the tables. When she came back, she sighed and said come on. Not sure if we came on an off night, but not friendly staff. The margarita was on point and the food here is very lack luster now. Not what I remembered at all. The chips are thick and taste like oil. The guac is okay and the salsa was the highlight. My husband has a smothered burrito and said it was good but nothing special. I had the steak and shrimp fajitas. Definitely not the way to go. My steak looked gray and pepper was the only seasoning on them. Same with the shrimp. Nothing sizzled and there was no char on anything, literally anything. Super basic mountain "Mexican" food. Food was actually quite decent. Pricey for what it was but par for the course for the area. The tacos were flavorful, not dried out, and had ample fillings. The other items we ordered were also all quite tasty, with a reasonable (not large) serving size. However, one particular server was beyond rude. She wasn't even our server. Made rude comments out of nowhere. And when manager was notified, this server made sure to walk around our table to give us dirty looks. Our actual server was fine. We ordered two cups of tortilla soup and the queso/chips and told our server we would order drinks after eating these. She said, "I will need to add other people to your table when it gets busy...I need to make some money today." That was rude... to say the least. I give this place 3.75 stars, which I'm rounding up to 4 stars. Why? Well, it's definitely worth checking out if you like Tex-Mex, you like to drink, and you are in the area... just don't be expecting an award-winning experience. What you will find is fairly good food, a fun and friendly wait staff, and drinks galore. Note, I went to Coyote twice on a recent vacation to the area, which gave me a solid feel for this place. So, this review is not for some one-off visit. Here's a break down of my thoughts: FOOD - Try the guacamole, the queso, the chips and salsa (complimentary), the chili relleno, the tacos, and the rice and beans. The salsa was a bit spicier on the second visit than the first, but it was definitely super tasty! The chili relleno was unique in that each chili was wrapped in a tortilla; be sure to get the green chili pork on top! Skip the burritos. They are just okay and kind of small, actually. Some of the photos on Yelp are a bit deceiving, but look closely and you will see what I mean. DRINKS - This was the most disappointing part of Coyote for me. I felt that, overall, the margaritas were just too sweet (I tried a couple of different varieties). Our waitress informed us that the bartenders make their own mix; however, for me, the mix was too sweet and too limey. Not that I'm necessarily a margarita snob, but I do know a good 'rita... and, to me, the ones at Coyote are just meh. Some of my dining partners did order the spicy margarita and said it was less sweet and more satisfying. So, perhaps I'll try that if I return. My final note for you is to NOT order the large size margaritas; you get the same amount of tequila with just more mix - ugh. SERVICE - On both visits, the servers ruled! This aspect was definitely a highlight of both visits!! All of the staff we encountered were attentive, knowledgeable, and fun! This is the best place to come for lunch! It isn't overly priced like some other places in the village and the food is very good. It also comes out quickly so you can get back out to the slopes in no time. We have tried numerous things here now but some of our favorites are the taco salad and tortilla soup. I have been to beaver creek twice and I have been here twice and both times really didn't disappoint. The staff does get busy during lunch time as due all restaurants on the bottom. The food satisfies the post ski hunger and the drinks were tasty and they had a variety which I liked. Nachos 10/10. Also the salads were big and fresh tasting! We went to Coyote Cafe in Beaver Creek during our visit, as it was one of the only reasonably priced restaurants in Beaver Creek Village. It was the off-season, and it wasn't very busy. To start, the free chips and salsa were good. I opted for the four-taco entree. They were the smallest tacos I've ever seen. And there were no side accompaniments. Granted, I don't need to pig out, but what kind of Mexican restaurant do you not get mounds and mounds of food on a regular basis that you can't possibly finish? My partner ordered the Mexican Lasagna. He specifically asked if it was spicy, as he doesn't like spicy foods at all (unlike me). It came and was, of course, super spicy to him. He could barely eat any of it, so I gave him two of my non-spicy tiny tacos in exchange for some. This was our last meal in the Avon area during our vacation, and it wasn't as exceptional as I had hoped. We didn't go out with a bang. July 19, 2020: First impressions mean something and there was nothing special about the Chips & Salsa. The chips were not fresh made or warm. The salsa should have been fresh and not watered down. The chips and salsa should have been complimentary. My quesadilla was very good but overpriced. My daughter ordered the 4 piece Taqueria and was given the 3 piece and so there was some confusion regarding the menu. The place was nearly empty and the service was good on a hot sunny day. My other daughter had a $15 Bacon Cheese Burger. I don't remember if she enjoyed it. My wife had the Chicken Tortilla Soup bowl. She said it was basically vegetable soup with chicken and was bland in taste. I tasted it and I agree. If you're going to charge premium prices then you should serve premium food. We have been coming to the Coyote for more years than I can recall. I love coming here for a break from skiing or hiking and the location is perfect! The staff is friendly enough and the prices are extremely fair especially for the village. I have to say that the food is very average and a bit bland. I was craving the nachos and went there last week for them and I was not nearly as satisfied as I have been in the past. The service was a bit slow for July especially being that is was not too busy. With all that being said, the Coyote is a staple in BC and we will continue to frequent it every time we visit. Just do not have extremely high expectations for the food. read more

I could have overlooked this if the place was packed and he was overwhelmed...but it was quite empty. Tables were not cleaned well something that should be a given in this day and age. Hoped it would be good quality food, but found it to be very mediocre. Chicken Soft Taco plate was very basic... something you could get from Taco Bell.
