The Fitz bar is a hidden gem for a mountain ski town. Aside from the fact that it's very convenient right across the street from Gold Peak. The staff makes the apres experience, relaxed and comfortable. I'd like to specifically shout out one of the bartenders named Ben, he is efficient and welcoming. I frequent the bar quite often and while other staff like Matt and Jayla are top-notch. I know it's always gonna be a good day if Ben is behind the bar. Came here for dinner after a hard day of snowboarding on Wednesday. I made reservations but honestly, it was pretty dead so you can just walk in. The restaurant is located inside a hotel and offered free parking inside the garage which is a plus in Vail. The food was great for the price. We got the poutine to share and it was amazing! Completely hit the spot. I had a burger with truffle tots and the tots were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this place for dinner if you're ever in Vail for a ski vacation. read more

I had dinner here last night and have mixed thoughts about the experience. The Fitz felt very much like a bar in a mid range hotel in a nondescript Midwestern town. We were seated "upstairs" in the alcove overlooking the main restaurant and consequently hotel guests were constantly walking through on their way to their room, sometimes in a bathrobe. There was industrial carpet like you'd see at a Courtyard Marriott. One of the main specialties at The Fitz was a Brussels Sprouts dish which many people ordered. The strong unpleasant smell permeated the restaurant. I had the Tuna Nachos which were very good. My boyfriend had a Fried Chicken Sandwich which was nothing special. read more

Easily our favorite spot in Vail. In fact, we loved it so much we came here twice! Without naming names, we made it a priority to visit all of the "must go restaurants" in Vail during our recent ski trip. After building out our itinerary, we still had an open evening without a dinner reservation. After scrolling through Yelp, I came across an unassuming restaurant in a hotel a short walk from ours that seemed reasonably priced and unpretentious called The Fitz. There weren't a ton of reviews, but the reviews were really good. Even though no one I knew that frequently visited Vail had mentioned the Fitz, I went ahead an made a reservation. Thank goodness I did... this place was absolutely incredible and blew all the "must go" Vail restaurants out of the water. Service was phenomenal, friendly, and quick. The drinks were generous and delicious. Old Fashion was great. The different flavored Moscow Mules were great. However, their spicy margarita was the drink we couldn't stop ordering. Most importantly, their food was so so good. The cheese curds are a must get appetizer. The 10 oz flat iron was perfectly cooked, melted in your mouth, and was packed with flavor. Also really enjoyed the truffle Mac and cheese and the Brussel Sprouts. We loved this place so much, we cancelled our reservation for our last night and came here again. While spending a week skiing in Vail, we took the recommendation of our concierge (at Arrabelle) and made reservations at his #1 pick, The Fitz. Everything was excellent! Our party of 7 people had an entire dining room to ourselves. Our table was next to a giant fireplace with windows all around us. We loved everything we ordered. Me and my fiance went here in 2019 when we visited Vail, and I never finished my review then, so 3 years later, here I am. Overall this is a 3.5 star place, bumped to 4 because of friendly service and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is located inside the Manor Vail Lodge, in case you are driving, GPS coordinates should take you to the right spot. there is an enclosed parking area and the gate will open for you. We had reservations (use Open Table to score points), and were promptly seated on a weekend night. We ordered a few drinks (vodka mule, Lift Line, and Winter in Tropic), all great, good balance between taste and booze. For food, some items were fantastic, Bison NY Strip, Asparagus, and the carrots - some were just OK, broccolini, mashed potatoes, and the mushroom risotto (seemed it was prepared a few hours before...). The dessert - butter cake - was pretty good. Service was friendly and the place is cozy and inviting. The Fitz is located in the Manor Vail Lodge and has a very nice outdoor seating area combined with an indoor bar. We had salads and snacks. Very prompt service and reasonable pricing. Brussel sprouts were are favorite. The Fitz is a little off the beaten path but well worth the visit. I would call first though as we noticed during our stay the hours were erratic due to the bar being closed for various wedding events and private parties. read more

My wife and 5 yr old just finished having Thanksgiving dinner here. It was absolutely amazing and worth every penny. They had all kinds of bread including gluten free bread. There were so many dishes: green beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potato, two kinds of salad, roasted cauliflower, mac n' cheese , stuffing both bread and corn, turkey carving station and ham carving station and of course delicious desserts. They had apple and pumpkin pie, cup cakes and ice cream. The quality of the food was top notch. The turkey was brined for 24hrs before serving. The mashed potatoes were from scratch. I could go on and on and on. I feel like we got our money's worth for sure. The ambiance was very cozy and frankly...out of what you would see in a Christmas movie. It was night time, snow outside and fire lanterns glowing. The service was tops as well. Payton was our server and she was very attentive and not overbearing. Kudos to her. Had a great summertime lunch on the outdoor patio of this hotel restaurant, which overlooks the west end of Ford Park. It's a bit pricey, but it's Vail. Had an excellent quality Fitz Burger ($24) with a teeny, tiny side salad (extra $3) that made the fries (included unless you 'upgrade' to salad) look like the better deal. Throw in an appetizer or a drink and it's pretty easy to hit $50 per person for lunch, but again, it's Vail. Pro tip: we arrived at 11:30, which meant we were the first customers with choice of any spot on the outdoor patio. Grab the table at the far east end overlooking the river. Service was good, although things were slow because it was lunch. Overall no reason not to stop here unless the prices scare you off, follow up your meal with a walk around the beautiful Fort Park and Betty Ford Alpine Gardens! read more

We came here for Valentines Day. The restaurant is a small with a an upscale feel. But at the same time the vibe is relaxed. You'll fit in if you dressed up or more casual. The food is really nice but not pretentious. We shared the crab cake appetizer. You could tell it was hand made and really yummy. We then shared the short rib and mushroom risotto. Both were awesome and perfectly seasoned. The portions were big, too. We didn't have dessert. Nothing on the menu really spoke to us, and we were already quite full. Service was very attentive. Off peak season it's quiet, secluded and you can easily talk amongst your group. During peak season the wait isn't long but it's a good idea to book a rezy! We got their shrimp and grits (YUM!), fried chicken sandwich (meh.. it was a frozen food service patty) and the spinach salad. Again while the food is better, it's bar food. Really a 3.75, primarily because a super poor version of a Caesar Salad. We were staying at Manor Vail and wanted to try out the in-house restaurant, and that it posted a 4+ rating. We shared a Caesar Salad and steak, which was excellent. Do not order this salad. What was presented was a bowl of undressed cut romaine lettuce in a bowl, with some croutons, shaved parmesan cheese and a small container of dressing that was far from tasting Caesarish. It was store bought for sure, but not Caesar. Also, no anchovies, and $18. Fitz, please learn how to make this salad taste great and toss the salad in dressing in the kitchen. The server accidentally misheard one of the orders and brought out a salad instead of the salmon, however they gave us the salad for free and brought out the salmon eventually.
