The sommelier might have been a little too enthusiastic (or maybe I was ), but the rest of the food definitely made up for it. Highlight of the night: the chicken nugget with caviar. Yes, you read that right--and it was actually amazing. Such a fun, unexpected combo that somehow worked perfectly. Between the laughs, good company, and some standout dishes, it ended up being a really enjoyable night. Would I go back? Probably--for those nuggets alone!

Absolutely phenomenal. One of the best meals I've ever had! The chicken with caviar was so fun and unique. The waitress couldn't have been better. Atmosphere was beautiful- sat right over the creek. The folks around us were so friendly, and we became quick friends.

The Vail restaurant the blew me away! The setting overlooking the creek/river was gorgeous and the service was professional, attentive and personable from start to finish. The plates are a work of art and come with fresh, flavorful and inventive components to match. A must try in Vail!

Katie our server was absolutely amazing. She was so knowledgeable about the menu and was very easy to talk to. The restaurant is nice and well kept. We had several tables around us and we were able to hear our whole table. Overall, our food was absolutely amazing. Everyone finished their meals. I could not recommend Sweet Basil more!

Sweet Basil is our go to special occasion restaurant when spending time in Vail. The atmosphere is modern yet cozy, befitting a mountain town. There is a welcoming bar as you enter, with several different dining spaces, each with its own intimate feel. I've never had a bad meal here and every time we take guests they are blown away! On our most recent visit over the winter holiday season, my partner and I had another wonderful experience. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and non-obtrusive. I am pescatarian and gluten free and they were attentive to my dietary needs. We split the tuna and octopus appetizers, both absolutely delicious. For entrees I had the trout which was delicate but flavorful and my partner enjoyed the lamb. Portion sizes are fitting of fine dining, enough to be satisfied while not being stuffed. My favorite in Vail Village! It can be a hard reservation to get in season - they start booking 30 days out so plan ahead!

Comfortable setting and friendly servers. We like to try multiple menu items and while the choices are limited, everything we tried was delicious. The portions were small, but had great flavor and presentation. The children's menu was a hit with multiple choices. Would love to see more variety on the menu or include the lunch menu options with the dinner menu.

This is an amazing restaurant. We came for lunch and thankfully there was availability. I would definitely suggest making reservations to make sure you have a spot since this place is located in the heart of Vail. From the moment you walk in, the place is warm and inviting and has a killer bar. We sat towards the back of the restaurant near the window overlooking the creek. The menu is small but the food is spectacular. We went with the Caesar salad to start which was very fresh. I loved the dressing. It was tangy with hints of mustard and the saltiness of the anchovies. For entree we went with the special of the day which was a 6oz filet with truffle fries and a bone marrow sauce. It was cooked to perfection and very flavorful on its own. The bone marrow sauce really just added another layer to the steak. The fries were crisp and the truffle was not overpowering. Highly recommend stopping by for some delicious food and great ambiance for a date night.

We were in the Vail, Colorado area and found this cute warm place for lunch. I noticed 4 stars but in my opinion, it deserves 5 stars. We were seated immediately for lunch and got great seats in the back with an amazing view. Our waiter was amazing and friendly. We tried their Caesar salad which was so flavorful and had fresh crisp lettuce. It does come with anchovies. So if you're sensitive to that then I recommend not to get it. Their special that day was the steak frites. It was a 6 oz filet mignon and fries. We paired it with their red blend wine and it was a dream lunch. Very fancy interior and great vibes. This is the place we needed to relax and have a glass of wine and a delicious meal.

Came for Après! Love the vibe and the staff. I only ordered shrimp toast & a local cider. 2026 winter menu looks great. Michelin Guide spot. Gotta love Vail.

This place was our favorite dinner spot in Vail. The menu changes frequently so I appreciate recent reviews with pictures. The food is always delicious. Parking is free in the VTC garage. I wish it just wasn't so super expensive but once in a while, it's a really nice treat. We usually can't get a reservation so we try our luck at the bar and have been seated there the last two times. It's always fun to chat up others and we met a couple of fun ladies sitting next to us. Tyler was our server and took good care of us. Food... we ordered the Caesar salad. It was good but the last time we had it, it was very memorable and more crisp and citrus in a way that really made us want to come back for it. We tried the foie gras bateau. I really like the rich taste of foie gras, so the mango gel really overpowered the foie gras so I just ate it separately in layers. I wouldn't order it again. Beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly throughout for medium rare but it could've been a touch more flash seared on a pan or grill. I enjoyed eating the mushroom with the steak. The turnips didn't have much flavor and the stems were hard to cut on the rough stone plate with a steak knife. The Super Tuscan wine was very nice. Tyler described it well that it was peppery and bold. Most times we've really been impressed with our meal but this night was a little disappointing for such a large $240 bill for 2. I'm not sure we'll be back anytime soon. There are a lot of options at this price point in town so we might try something else next time.

Wow! What a lunch. Started with a 1/2 btl of Guy Lamardier Grand Cru Bubbles with Truffle Fries, Crispy Shrimp & Calamari and Corn Cappelletti then moved on to a 1/2 bottle of Chateau Cantermerle with Ricotta Gnocchi and Lombardi Brothers Loin Burger. Great wine program; particularly like the great 1/2 btl selections. Everything was amazing. Staff professional and Friendly. Beautiful space. Will be back!

I had high hopes for Sweet Basil, but unfortunately, the meal didn't live up to expectations. We started with the Feta Appetizer, which was decent and had a good balance of sweetness and savory cheese, but nothing spectacular. Then we moved on to the Shrimp Appetizer, and that's where things went downhill. The shrimp was ridiculously over-seasoned -- so salty that it actually burned our tongue. It was almost inedible, and I found myself unable to enjoy it at all. Next, we tried the bread rolls and the Ricotta Gnocchi. While the gnocchi itself was well balanced with the mozzarella and artichokes, there wasn't enough flavor to redeem the rest of the meal. The bread was just okay, and honestly, I was hoping for something more exciting given the restaurant's reputation. If you're looking for a great meal in this area, I'd honestly recommend heading downstairs to Mountain Standard. The food there was a big more satisfying. Nice patio ambiance and the server was kind, but not the best.

I was looking forward to trying a Michelin start restaurant. We sat by the bar and started w a bubbly rosé. We came in New Year's Day after all. Time to celebrate. Presentation is amazing. The whipped feta is amazing. Such creamy consistency. The oysters were amazing, salty, spicy and a touch of sweet all at once. Explosion of habit in my mouth. I was a little disappointed in the duck ramen. the Broth was lukewarm, I feel like it should be hot. The noodles were undercooked n had parts that clumped together. Not what I expect on a Michelin restaurant. I supposed i should have sent it back. But I had bubbly n feeling good. Why spoil the moment by a clumpy noodle. Service is friendly n courteous as expected n appreciated.

And to stumble upon this chic and inconspicuous cocktail bar in the busy downtown was something I wasn't expecting and became a treat after a nice stroll through the town after dinner in my hotel room. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was at the place where my heart was calling for. There were two gents at the bar and one of them warmly greeted me and said I could sit anywhere I would like. I hence picked one of the bar seats. Except one table that was occupied by a couple I was the only one. I appeared to have picked the right time; I had the whole bar to myself (eventually though, several different groups of people streamed in; only a few of them sat at the bar close to me. The bar was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a little over 10 people.) Jeremy, who greeted me upon arrival, was a super host. As soon as I explained that wine is my usual got-to, he said he could mix and match reds and whites to create a "flight" based on what I had told him as to my likings. His extensive explanations as to what sorts of reds and whites the bar offers/serves was (of course) all in his memory. His eloquent speech with no filler words truly impressed me; he sure is a wine connoisseur. What he picked for me were... -2024 Pepiere "Les Gras Moutons" (Muscadet) -Kobal "Bajta", Hazole Belo (aka Orange Wine) -Sandlands "Red Table Wine (Lodi Red Blend) With his wealth of knowledge, after giving him only a hint of what I liked, what Jeremy selected for me to sample/sip was a superb choice. All of them were world-class excellence with elegance and beauty. I carefully and slowly sipped each one little by little to truly immerse myself in the art of wine. Yes, wine is a piece of art for sure. I think I said it correctly at the beginning of this review. This is a cocktail bar with variety of spirits which Jeremy could easily concoct just about anything from gin-based one to vodka-based one to tequila-based ones to whiskey-based one to name several. For those who don't drink, their zero-proof section also has something interesting to browse and choose. Not to mention, rotating pilsner or IPA on tap to name a few from the beer section as well. If you need a little bite to eat, their (changing) food menu has a good number of New American-style plates. The bar originally opened in a different building back in 2015 (I believe). They moved to the current location in 2019. They also offer various different classes so you can expand/extend your knowledge. So for your next foodie vacation in Vail, make sure to include Root & Flower in your list.

Price: Expect standard Vail pricing for high-end cocktails, with most drinks ranging between $16-$20. Customer Service: The service was fantastic. The staff was incredibly kind and efficient; even though we stayed for quite a while to catch up, we felt welcomed and well-attended to the entire night. Atmosphere This spot has a cool, welcoming vibe that feels very safe. It's the kind of environment where you can really settle in and enjoy the company you're with. The Drinks I ordered the Sangre del Sol. The flavor was amazing, though be warned it is very strong! It's an excellent choice if you enjoy a cocktail with a serious kick, but I ended up letting my friend finish mine after a few sips. Overall Experience I highly recommend Root & Flower for a beautiful setting and top-tier service. Pro Tip: A huge bonus for this location is the parking! You can park for free after 3 PM at the S. Frontage Rd. East garage right nearby. I'll definitely be back!

I had hoped the server would ask if anything was wrong with the dish after seeing so much of it left on the plate, but he didn't. Considering the quality, the prices were on the higher end. After my 1st day snowboarding, due to our lack of snow this winter, Vail had the best forecast, and…read moreI happily rode 7 runs in 2-hours, and was then starving, after also skipping lunch. Since I'd parked at Lions Head, before I returned to Denver, I considered the Vail Chophouse, as their menu looked delicious, however when I went inside, the live music was so loud - even with my noise-canceling headphones still in- that I still couldn't hear, and knew I'd blow out my ear drums. Enter: Montauk Seafood Grill, the perfect antidote, with an equally appealing menu, and a much more serene ambiance. :-) Given I was famished, I asked my wonderful server, Brenn, for recommendations, and she was - hands down - one of the best servers I've had, in a long time. She was friendly, attentive, honest, and an all around delight. I started by asking her suggestion, as to if I should order the "Blood Moon" or "Happy Coconut" mocktail, and she recommended the Blood Moon, which was delicious! I love Blood Orange, and it had the perfect combination of mint, to be both sweet & sour. I needed a mocktail, given I was driving back to Denver, after dinner. She then brought me delicious Rosemary Sourdough and Citrus Butter, as a starter, which was fantastic, especially given I needed all the carbs, from skipping lunch, riding so much, and from fasting the night before, for a prior medical appointment, that morning, in Denver, hence my late start, snowboarding. Then I ordered - and loved - the Point Reyes Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon, medium rare, with the most delicious asparagus I've ever had, and I was grateful that they could make my truffle potatoes, whipped, instead of hash brown style. I ended my delicious dinner with a cappuccino, for the drive home. Perfection!

Montauk is a staple here in Vail. It's fine dining with fresh seafood! Our recent visit was nice,…read morenot amazing but nice. When we arrived, staff was nice and they let us pick our table. The original table they had for us wasn't great and they were more than happy for us to move. Now the bad part.. I think by moving tables we got a waiter that was too busy to attend to us. Now this is a fancy restaurant so we expect perfect service. It was fine but slow in my opinion. Now for the food, it was pretty tasty as usual. I had a delicious light salad and then had their signature salmon dish. Portion size was as perfect for both items! Others at the table were not as satisfied. The scallops were delicious but there were only three served, for how expensive this place was, they should have given a few more. The rice was not great. As for the other diners in my party, they were happy with their meals.
