My girlfriend declared the salmon the best she has ever eaten. I chose the schnitzel, one of the chef's favorites, served with new potatoes and green beans. It was fantastic, and the portion was so generous that I took home enough for a second meal. The espresso martinis were outstanding as well. Be sure to save room for dessert. The appetizers came out very quickly and were all delicious, so our expectations started to rise. However, our entrées took close to an hour to come out, which was very frustrating. All of the dishes were decent, but the prime rib--which I expected to be the highlight of the meal--turned out to be EXTREMELY tough. I struggled to slice it even with a steak knife, and it was also quite flavorless. I ended up leaving most of it unfinished, as shown in the photo. I had hoped the server would ask if anything was wrong with the dish after seeing so much of it left on the plate, but he didn't. Considering the quality, the prices were on the higher end. Went for Christmas Eve '25 dinner. We visit here one or more times every year and virtually every aspect of the experience was lacking. The server was awful. She was generally rude and disrespectful. She couldn't have cared less that we were there, and given it was a holiday dinner, you might expect event a faint hint of spirit. One might think she was having a bad night and let it go, but the entire staff had the same attitude. Not one made eye contact and if you said merry Christmas, the just looked at the floor or past and ignored you. The food was phoned it by the B team. While the prime rib was itself its normal goodness, the remainder of the meal and timing was disappointing. As an example; the blue cheese dressing for the salad was runny and the shallot vinaigrette was made out of vegetable oil. If for some reason it wasn't, it sure tasted like it. It was inedible. The list of disappointments goes on but after coming here for years, it was an unpleasant enough experience to never go back. Lancelot is cozy and inviting -- warm lighting, lively energy, and a staff that made us feel genuinely welcome. We came in later in the evening specifically for the prime rib, and although we were initially told it was sold out, he came back and told us they have one left, they made it happen! Tender and full of flavor with a generous cup of fries! The au jus was spot-on, exactly what you want with a great cut of beef. We also had crème brûlée with espresso. And the service was so wonderful, a shot of limoncello found its way to our table. Service was so friendly and attentive especially for us coming in so close to closing time. The apple strudel with ice cream was delicious and was the highlight of the meal. The prime rib was another story. I ordered the Lancelot cut at medium rare and I received a cut that was clearly medium at best so the server brought me another order that was borderline medium rare. The meat was good but nothing special. It didn't have the taste that would bring a smile to your face. The server was very nice, however it took quite a while for the entree to arrive. Probably between 3-4 because I'm not the biggest prime rib fan but this was solid. I ordered the Lancelot cut, which was the med sized prime rib. I asked for medium, and it came perfectly medium and had good flavor. The horseradish sauce was very good mild and delicious. It came with a baked potato, which also had sour cream and butter also very good. The service was fine, mot very fast but the food came out quick. Don't forget to ask for extra su jus! Went out with some friends and family to try Lancelot for dinner at Vail Village last night and it was delicious! We ordered a lot of food, which included bone marrow (couldn't find the name of the dish on the menu), escargot, shrimp, Caesar salad, the prime rib, and apple strudel. The bone marrow was rich and unlike anything I've had before. The escargot acted more like a vessel for the spices and butter it was soaked in. It tasted and felt a lot like a mushroom. The puff pastry that covered it was perfection: soft, crispy, buttery. Yum. The shrimp was your standard shrimp. Good, but nothing too exciting. The Caesar salad had just the right amount of dressing on it. I got the 10z prime rib and baked potato for my main, which was WAY too much meat in hindsight. This slab of meat was around an inch thick, salty, and melted in my mouth. If you like meat, this is for you. The baked potato was alright. It's served with a bunch of different condiments on the side (horseradish, sour cream and chives, and bacon bits), so you're free to doctor it up to your hearts content. The apple strudel was perfection. Who doesn't love a warm pastry with sweet apple filling, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream? Great way to end the night. Like the food, the service at Lancelot was spot on. Our waiter came around multiple times to check in on us, refilling our waters and asking how everything was. However, he left enough time between each check in that it didn't feel excessive. If you've down for a meat-heavy dinner with awesome service, check out Lancelot next time you're in Vail! read more

I was so looking forward to this adorable place that I was a bit too eager perhaps. It is absolutely gorgeous outside and super cozy inside overlooking the firepit and falling snow. I have to admit we nibbled all day long in the too fun Vail Village but this was my earmarked spot for Prime Rib. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare but the crust just wasn't there, no seasoning whatsoever could be detected. The baked potato was tasty and came with the usual suspects, no complaint there. The potatoes with it tasted like they were precooked and reheated, so not so good. I ordered the Prime rib was fine. Baked potato was "meh". Had better at many chains and expected a little more here. Undercooked and dry (kept warm too long). Skin was soggy. A little under cooked, but I might have also gotten someone else's meal since the table next to us got a prime rib and sent back a meal they were served, so I'm guessing I ended up with the other guys prime rib. Our server was an asshole. We got the prime rib and he never came by during the meal. We ran out of water to give you an idea of the level of service. Then when he finally did I told him my prime rib that was 8oz was really fatty. He then argues with me telling me it's not a fatty meat. I show him the 2+ oz of meat in the plate that was inedible because of all the fat. Then he tried to mansplain to me what fat on meat looks like. After clearing the plates he came back and said he'd discount the meal and I told him I didn't need a discount. I was just letting him know and he instantly became a jerk. I worked in service for 11 years - there is a much better way to handle this situation. I'll never eat here again. They are known for their prime rib and it's sub par. We stumbled upon this restaurant as nearby restaurants were all booked out - we're glad we did! The food was good (4/5), service was excellent (5/5), ambiance was casual elegant, and the wine list was decent (although limited if you order by the glass). Given they market themselves as a prime rib house, I had to try the prime rib; for sides I ordered the sautéed spinach. For appetizers we ordered the escargot. On the prime rib, I thought it was excellent. I ordered a medium rare and it was pink end-to-end - couldn't have asked for it to be cooked any better. One suggestion was to have a bit more seasoning on the crust but the jus made up for it. The sautéed spinach however was a bit of a disappointment as it was way too salty and I could not finish it. Escargots were good - nothing special, but did not disappoint. My friends ordered the veal and had no issues with the dish. Fantastic service with delish food! After our first choice told us there would be an hours long wait for a patio seat, we started wandering. While this wasn't our first choice, they got us in right away with no wait. To start we got 2 cocktails which were amazing. The shrimp linguini was fantastic as was the beets salad. What caught me by surprise was the size of the kids steak! Holy moly that could feed an adult! It's a pretty smallish patio but nicely spread to ensure distancing. The staff, however, made this a perfect visit. Our waitress was so kind & accommodating with everything. Grumpy 2 year old? She got him some milk right away. Thirsty cocktail drinkers? No problem! We have been coming to Lancelot for FORTY YEARS! Does that tell you anything (besides that I'm old)? You come here for the prime rib. It is probably the best prime rib I have had anywhere. Delicious, tender, perfect. OK, maybe you want something else to go with it. Start with the Chili Garlic Shrimp appetizer, or the French Onion Soup -- both are outstanding. On the other end of the meal, all the desserts are terrific, but you really have to try the Apple Strudel, it's sublime. (And I say that as someone who normally feels that dessert isn't worth having if it's not chocolate.) Werner, the longtime owner and chef, knows how to run a restaurant. Update to my review: the owner returned my phone call regarding the previous concern and explained that the 20% gratuity added to the credit card charge even when a cash tip is indicated on the receipt is done automatically by the credit card company and is removed at some point. He said he gets calls from customers who are upset about this a lot and then they write subpar reviews. I told him that this confusion and anger can all be avoided by telling customers who are leaving cash tips that this can happen but that it's a temporary charge. That way, the customer is not taken aback later when they see the charge and will know it's temporary. A simple heads up can save everyone a lot of time and frustration. read more
