Our meal was simple and delicious. Eating outside on the patio decorated with string lights was what summer meals are made of. But, it was chilly and the hostess had to bring me a blanket. I appreciated it, but I do think the restaurant needs to invest in more blankets as my blanket was for a child and covered in basket balls and basket ball hoops. It was a little embarrassing as other guests who had blankets as well chuckled at the one I had been given. I was not going to use it, but unfortunately for me, the August evening was rather chilly and I had to use the silly blanket over my beautiful dress. The food, like I said was delicious, our favorite was the fire roasted cauliflower I had chosen for my main. Truly the best cauliflower I've ever had. Third time at Ritz WYLD bar, third disappointment. At this point I should have learned my lesson, but the cocktail menu keeps drawing me back in. Unfortunately, the execution never matches the marketing. Instead of a skilled bartender or mixologist, we were once again served by someone who seemed unfamiliar with the cocktail list, despite these drinks having been on the menu for years. Watching him rely on a recipe sheet, then still miss ingredients and throw the balance of the drink off, was frustrating. For a Ritz property, you would expect quality over quantity. The only word that truly fits WYLD is disappointing--utterly disappointing. To start, the restaurant was clean and looked nice, but not Ritz-Carlton nice. It felt more like a standard local steakhouse than the upscale experience you'd expect at a property of this caliber. Service was the one bright spot--attentive, efficient, and without a single issue. Unfortunately, the food didn't come close to matching the level of service. My NY Strip was not cooked as requested and, didn't come with any side options. My partner ordered the off-menu special, a slow-braised short rib. While it was better than the steak, calling it "special" would be a stretch for anyone with tastebuds. Overall, I cannot recommend WYLD. The food was mediocre at best, and there are far better dining options in the Beaver Creek, Avon, and Vail areas. For a restaurant located in a Ritz-Carlton, the experience was a major letdown. read more

Resturant is located inside Ritz, parking is by valet. We went there for dinner, this is one of the restaurants where we went over the budget for the dinner because of Ritz we wanted the experience. Our food was great , bread was yumm the outer crust was very hard to bite not sure if that's how it should be ? Either way I enjoyed it. They have good decorations for the holidays. Pretty Christmas trees all around the place. Customer service is on point. I dropped my wallet which they saved and returned upon asking around. They have good managers and staff. Overall: I went here on a weeknight with my girlfriend. The restaurant itself is in the Ritz Carlton hotel. They offer free valet parking when you come for dinner, which was convenient. The overall experience is very upscale and you get the full ambiance of the Ritz. The food was good but not exceptional. Its fun to go for the experience, but not sure its a place I'd go frequently. Food: 4 Drinks: 4 Service: 4 Value: 2 Atmosphere: 5 Food: We got the octopus appetizer then shared the salmon and truffle mac & cheese. The octopus was fantastic - definitely the highlight of our meal. The salmon was perfectly cooked but was nothing spectacular. The mac & cheese was a very large portion but was a little bit of a letdown. They had several interesting dishes for large groups, but those weren't reasonable for just two of us. Drinks: We each got a cocktail. They were creative and flavorful. Service: We generally had attentive service. It seemed like the restaurant wait-staff was a bit thin with each person serving several tables, but we still felt like we were given adequate attention. Value: Its the Ritz...its not a place you go if you want bang for your buck. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was fun and more casual than I would have initially thought. As regular visitors to Ritz Carlton's Wyld and its other dining venues, my party and I were disappointed with the rude treatment we received by the host last night at Wyld. Our poor experience did not end with the host, as the miscues kept coming, including having to send back a well-done steak ordered medium. I hate dining alone, when everyone else is done! Wyld fell so short of my expectation last evening, I'm uncertain about ever returning to Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch again--for anything--lodging, dining, or spa. Management was simply AWOL! We arrived on time for our 7:00p seating at Wyld last night and were shown to a table not in the dining room, but in the breakfast overflow area where they set up the breakfast buffet next to the kitchen--not where dinner guests are seated--used when they are unable to seat guests outdoors. This space has all the ambience of the waiting area at the DMV--except it's uncomfortably hot--next to the kitchen, and the lighting fixtures look (and work) like heat lamps making this area impossibly HOT and brightly lit. We felt like the ham under the warming lamps at the all-you-can-eat buffet. By contrast, the dining room is beautiful, decorated in soft, dark calming tones, mood lighting, carpeting to dampen the noise, and windows through which the ski mountain and patio create a focal point. Naturally, Wyld has to make adjustments for weather. When we were shown to a table adjacent to the kitchen in the breakfast room, I politely requested another table. Many tables were available in the real dining room. Why are we being seated in a space more suitable for a bagel and orange juice with the kids at 7:00a? We are here to spend $1,000+ for a quiet dinner for four adults at 7:00p. I was informed ours was the ONLY available table by a host who was completely untrained, insisting there were no other options for us than a booth in the corner of the breakfast kiddie area) and that none of the available tables in the dining room were available TO US. (Wait for it--those tables are reserved for OTHER guests). I walked into the mostly empty dining room to take note of all the many scattered empty tables. The host spotted me observing the situation in the dining room when she approached me and politely again informed me there were no tables there available to me. That's when I asked her about the empty four top in the center of the dining room. She replied that table was reserved, but she could seat my party of four at a nearby long table set for 8. Oh? Digressing, My reservation for a party of four at 7:00p was secured by a non-refundable deposit. Not content to spend $1,000+ to dine in an area resembling a fast-food restaurant lobby or at a table for 8, I left and requested if the host could find us a table at Sakaba (the sushi restaurant) down the hall where we were recently treated to great experience. I was told "no" - that's it. One word. Apparently, the only vocabulary word that management teaches its staff at Wyld: No, you may not be seated with the adults in the dining room. No, I can provide you no seating in our dining room. No, the empty four top is not for you--it's reserved. Really? It's reserved? We now reserve specific tables for specific guests? Specific guests who aren't even in the restaurant yet while I'm on time and have a paid reservation for four? I calmly asked if we will be dining with a head of state? royalty? maybe a famous athlete reserved that four top. I couldn't help but to insinuate "isn't my reservation as high a priority as the person's reservation who isn't here yet? Maybe that party would enjoy dining at the kiddie table where I have my coffee in the morning--you don't know till you ask them! Flustered, the host excused herself. A few moments and ten minutes too late, a supervisor in a bad mood approached and coldly informed me my party was welcome to the four top. Inexcusably poor execution by kitchen, by host, and the absentee management content to leave inexperienced staff to their own devices. D- read more

We stayed at Avon for a week to celebrate the birthday and anniversary. The whole Vail / Beaver Creek areas were not crowded at all, many stores were closed to take a break before the ski season starts in two weeks. My wife suggested to go to Ritz for lunch. We arrived around 11:40am and found we were the first guests at WYLD, our host Adele guided us to a window table looking straight towards the mountain lift. The winter Sun was shinning all over and it felt great. Adele was very helpful to give us suggestions and we ended us with Calamari's, Little Gem Salad, Bison Burgers and of course the local Tivoli craft beer. We decided the share the dishes and Adele skillfully helped to arrange the two separate servings. When the main dishes were brought up together, it was quite an eye candy and delight. It was delicious as well, and the bison burger was very tender and juicy. The highlight was actually the dessert, we took Adele's recommendation with the Pear Pudding. It came out again as a little piece of art. The peer was made of pudding, pear and caramelized syrup. The ginger ice cream was freshly made and gave a nice kick of refreshing smell. Wyld was an incredible dinner experience. We had the best waiter for dinner - exceptional service. The food was also all delicious. I had the chicken dish (one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had), Brussel sprouts and the potato brava. Everything was so good. When we got our to-go boxes they also gave us disposable silverware in our bag so that we didn't have to worry about figuring that out later. I cannot wait to come back! read more

Wyld is located inside the Ritz-Carlton and serves delicious food! My family and I tried their breakfast and dinner. Dinner came at Ritz-Carlton prices but was very worth it! The octopus appetizer and oxtail pasta were mouth watering. The oxtail pasta was a special of the night and not on the menu-- but if you are lucky to catch this special I would lightly recommend. The oxtail was tender and had great flavor and the ricotta which came with the dish was creamy and added a nice touch. The Rigatoncini is also a delicious option, creamy and rich. The drinks were well made and came quickly yet the food service was slow and to be honest even painfully slow and the appetizers were not big enough to truly hold us over. Granted, we were starving after a long day. By the end of our meals we were too full for dessert but did enjoy some truffles which were rich and decadent. Breakfast-- delicious options. We had never been to WYLD before but were impressed with the reviews and we were not disappointed! The presentation of each dish was a work of art and the service was over the top. Our server Will, was very attentive and explained each dish and shared his own excitement about the chef's masterful creativity. The chef came out to say hello to the guests and we happened to see the hotel (Ritz Carlton) General Manager walking through to check on things and both he and the restaurant manager stopped by our table to make sure we were enjoying everything. The hostess was great, but our waiter was terrible. 2 out of 4 of us got our meals, finished them, and then 30 minutes later the other two meals came out (which we were still charged for). Their "standard pour" of wine for $28 is the smallest I've ever seen, probably 4 oz. I love sharing the positives about businesses we visit, and rarely if ever leave a negative review, but am also a person committed to sharing the truth because I value the Yelp community. We had one of the worst meals ever at this restaurant. Service was very poor, and our food was low quality. We ordered the ginger orange salad with chicken and the margherita pizza. The pizza was just okay, but the salad was an absolute travesty. We were disgusted to discover that the chicken was boiled. It was overdone, bland, dry, and beyond gross. It was inedible. Although we have otherwise experienced exceptional service in every other part of the hotel, our server at this restaurant was confused, lacked initiative when we asked basic questions about the food options, and disappeared for several extended periods of time. We finally had to ask other servers to find ours just so we could pay for the overpriced, gross meal we couldn't even finish. I don't know what made us more frustrated - receiving a meal we could not enjoy, or having to pay $75 for a meal we could not eat. read more

We have had nothing but lovely experiences at Wild and we've been here three times in the last week. The service has been wonderful and just what we expected! Because it is the off season, the menu is definitely limited. For dinner, we ordered the crab and avocado, the 32 oz ribeye, the garganelli San Mariano, and finished with the tart. The steak was DELICIOUS. Pricey, but worth every penny. The pasta was some of the best pasta and pasta sauce I've had outside of Italy. I would definitely come back just for that! The tart was pretty good. If you're in the mood for something rich, I would order it again. Otherwise, I would probably skip dessert. read more

This place was in the Ritz. We were staying there for a few nights for the hubby's bday. Had dinner at The Wyld. Hubby eats early so reservation was at 5pm when they open. We were a few minutes early and the manager sat us down at the bar and gave us complimentary wine. Once seated we had a super kind and friendly waiter. Couldn't decide between two appetizers so I ordered one. The waiter brought us the other appetizer and said happy birthday! Food was excellent. I can't say enough about the cauliflower!!!!!! I would come back just to have it!!! Food was prepared exactly as we had ordered. They also gave us the signature Ritz chocolate cake on the house which was to die for!!!! Talk about splurging, but what can you expect from the Ritz-Carlton? Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and everyone came by to greet us, including the sommelier. The NY rib-eye was pretty salty, but it was cooked well. My scallops were also a bit salty, but the part that got me was the piece of shell in one of my scallops. I absolutely loved the Wyld salmon crudo! The asparagus and chanterelles were good too, just a bit too buttery. (Am I allowed to say that?) Wine was perfect. Ambiance was perfect. Would stay at the hotel, but probably wouldn't return to the restaurant, as it wasn't as stunning as expected. Definitely worth trying once though. The chicken was some of the best (non fried) I've had, and the accompanying veggies and potato's complimented it impeccably with contrasting taste and texture. The Mac was good too, different than other mac and cheese I've had, but we enjoyed it. The portion sizes are likely just enough to need a small to go box for most. The ambience is nice and simple with pleasant lighting. An utter disappointment. Service was fantastic but the food was not. It's the Ritz so expect high prices and great service. The special of the night was a 40oz bone in ribeye priced at $240. Ordered it medium rare and it was delivered rare. Fine for me but not for others at the tables. Tons of fat that didn't have the opportunity to render or cook thru. No crust to speak of. The presentation was a mess. Just hacked up slices not cut all the way through thrown on a plate. The steak was utterly flavorless. Not beef that you would expect at this price. You'd have flavor from a Costco steak. Steak sauce which accompanied it was fantastic but it was there to mask the lack of flavor of the meat. read more

So not sure why we couldn't be sat. We ordered our drinks, 10-15 mins later tried to put in apps but our server made us order everything at once because she didn't want us to wait long for our food cause of the big party. All the food came out at once and so fast. The chicken came out with the raw fish/apps. I'm assuming the chicken was precooked or it was a mess up they gave to us. The special noodle wasn't cooked all the way. Everything we had was overly salted. It was all horrible. After we finished eating, our drinks finally came which is complete BS! Our server was confused and had no idea what was happening. It was horrible. I complained about everything. And the manager wanted to comp the cheapest drinks we had. Ashlee made our dining experiences extra special. On our first day she purchased us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our Girls weekend. She was our server for some appetizers the first day and breakfast the second day. We loved our made to order omelets that came with cut and fried fingerling potatoes that were cooked to perfection, and we subbed a bagel for our toast at no additional charge. It was a huge amount of food and we didn't walk away hungry. However, our appetizer portions for lunch on the first day was a little disappointing, we had the ahi tacos, which was 3 bite sized tacos with sushi grade raw ahi...it was delicious, the ahi was so fresh, paired with amazing sauce. However, $29 for 3 bites of food is a little more than I'm used to spending. The buffalo chicken dip was amazing as well, however the portion seemed small, we ran out of dip before we ran out of pita. If you're reading this I'm sure you are asking yourselves, why did I give this place 5 stars? Last but not least we dined at Wyld for dinner on our last night, Tim our server made excellent recommendations that were absolutely amazing...we were hangry so we don't have any pictures of the beautiful plates of food we enjoyed. We had the Wyld Cauliflower, it's fried and roasted with an amazing mixture of sauces that I can't remember the name of, we also shared the black truffle Mac and cheese, and the Scallops. All of which exceeded our expectations. Tim was also super friendly, and also an east coaster, near our homes. Tim was our waiter and took excellent care of us - following all his recommendations we had an excellent meal - I especially liked the Salmon cones appetizer - this was salmon in small cones with sesame - very flavorful. The entire meal was not only beautifully presented but bursting with different flavors and we left full and satisfied. Sometimes when you come to upscale hotels/restaurants you encounter staff with no personality but we were smiling the whole time. Ben the Sommelier was our favorite- very helpful & very down to earth. Food: Everything you would expect. The Shrimp & Grits was fantastic and I would go back again solely for that dish. Burrata for example was served with nothing - was just a lump. Save yourself $200 and go pickup a salad and bottle of wine at West Side Cafe/Market in West Vail.. bring it back, sit outside and enjoy the view. read more

Unreal experience. First and foremost, Jeff our waiter gave outstanding service and was very knowledgeable on not only the food but the area, as my wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon! Chef Manuel was kind enough to bring out the Fois Gras to our table. My wife and I have had our fair share of Fois Gras and this was by far the best we have ever had hands down. After speaking with Chef Manuel and Jeff they learned it was our honeymoon and they continued to impress. Chef then brought out an off menu dish that he might put on the menu, and it was absolutely fantastic. That follow up with the Duck Carnitas for two. Pricey but worth every penny. Incredible presentation but the crisp skin to the tender/fall apart duck meat. Lastly, Chef Manuel made us a fabulous raspberry cheesecake! All of this was gluten free as my wife is celiac. The attention to detail, flavors and incredible experience all around is why I posted this long review.
