Zach's Cabin was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The evening began with the sleigh ride up the mountain, which was incredibly smooth and cozy. They provided blankets so everyone could stay warm, and the ride itself gave us the chance to relax and take in the beautiful views on the way up, it really set the tone for the night. Once we arrived, the food completely stole the show. I was a bit unsure what to order, so our waiter asked what I would normally choose if anything was available. I mentioned that I usually go for a steak but prefer it without fatty cuts. He recommended the elk, and I am so glad I trusted his suggestion. It was absolutely phenomenal! So tender it quite literally melted in my mouth, and the flavor profile was rich, balanced, and beautifully prepared. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts au gratin, which were perfection- creamy, flavorful, and the ideal side to complement the elk. We enjoyed some champagne with dinner, which made the whole experience feel even more celebratory. To finish, we had an apple crisp dessert with toffee, and it was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Warm, comforting, and just the right amount of sweetness. Between the scenic sleigh ride, the incredible food, and the thoughtful service, Zach's Cabin is truly a special dining experience. The sled ride to the cabin was amazing and absolutely breathtaking. Once we arrived, the atmosphere was nice, but since we were the last group to be seated, we had to wait while they prepared our table. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrées right away. The drinks came out on time, but the rest of the food took quite a long time to arrive. My husband and I had ordered sparkling water. The waiter brought the bottle, filled our glasses, and left the bottle on the table to show that was what we were drinking. Later during dinner, a woman came by and, without asking, refilled our glasses with tap water instead of the sparkling water. She walked away before we had a chance to say anything, and we just looked at each other in confusion. Throughout the meal, my chair was also bumped several times by waiters trying to walk through the area, which made the space feel a bit crowded and hectic. Food-wise, the duck we ordered was perfect and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. The fondue was also really good. However, the waiter forgot to bring the potatoes we had ordered with the duck. The kids' pasta was on the colder side, and the steak that came with it was very bland. Overall, the experience was okay, but it didn't quite feel like the high-end experience we expected. They could probably benefit from having more staff and a better flow of service so things feel less rushed and chaotic. The Ritz' best experience to offer besides skiing location - the ski left will pick you up from the resort to bring you to Zach's intimate and exclusive location upon the mountain. The location is cozy and staff is friendly, making you feel welcomed. The food is delicious and menu changes based on availability. We split most dishes, as everything was mouth watering. The appetizers, including fondue, was an overall great experience and way to try many items Zach's is able to offer. The appetizers and bread basket were highlights - highly recommend sharing dishes opposed to sticking to your own. It's worth stealing a bite of every dish that Zach's has on their menu. read more

Honestly, this experience was so incredible. They could have charged me $30 for bread and I still would have been left smiling. We checked in with concierge at The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch concierge desk. We got there a bit early and enjoyed a cocktail at the great hall bar. The snow cat drawn sleigh arrived and our driver was quick to cover our seat in wool blankets and give us an oversized waterproof, fleece lined coat to place on our lap (it had been snowing all day). After an amazing drive up a ski run, we got to the cabin and left our coats in a large coat room. There was an option to exchange your boots for North Face slippers which was a nice touch. The restaurant itself felt straight out of a European movie. We shared the king crab dumplings and trout schnitzel. (Honestly, how could you not order either when they sounded so odd). When our entree arrived we were shocked to find they gave us two massive portions on our own plate with the same amount of accoutrements. We honestly thought they misheard us and brought us two portions... but no, when the check came we realized they had gone above and beyond to treat us despite splitting a plate. Bonus: on the way home we were the only two on the sleigh so they let us ride up front in the snow cat. My friends ended up treating me to bottles and dinner and we had the absolute BEST experience. Both chefs (Alex x2) visited and one brought out a champagne gun for me and my friends. HOLY SLEIGH RIDE BATMAN! This was the absolute highlight of our stay at the Ritz Carlton in Beaver Creek! So my last night here, my gf and friends all decided to partake in a sleigh ride that took us high atop the mountain to the renowned Zach's Cabin! It was a bit cold and the snow was blowing, but soooo worth it! As soon as we stepped inside and hung our coats, we were escorted to a table in this beautiful mountain cabin! Super cool...rustic, fireplace, mountain décor! Loved it! So I can't exactly remember what my guests ordered, but I got the filet mignon and it was cooked to absolute perfection! Despite weeks of advance notice that our group included vegans, the only option was to take cheese off the salad. Most high-end restaurants will prepare somethg special if there are no menu options to meet a guests dietary requirements. I have eaten here several times, including one time being just two weeks ago. I have a girls trip this weekend and made a dinner ressy for 2 but thought I had made it for 3. When I called to adjust The man that answered my call was beyond rude. Told me "they don't have room for us.... And no wonder the reservation wasn't for three because they don't allow a reservation of 3 ppl". So disappointing. We have been enjoying Zach's for years on our ski vacations but weren't happy after the last 2 trips and will be taking it off our list in the future. We reserved a table for New Years Eve and we're surprised to find a set menu with very few options. No one informed us of the limited menu when confirming the reservation. Menu was $145pp: One app, one salad, choice of 3 entrees, choice of 2 desserts. My daughter and I don't eat red meat or pork so really we had to chose the scallops for dinner. They were well done but unfortunately the highlight of the meal. The men at the table weren't asked about how they would like their steaks or lamb cooked. The desserts were dry and unmemorable. A salad and scallops on their regular menu would have been closer to $70-80 so they basically doubled the price to give us less options. read more

Best experience I have EVER had for dinner.....so much fun riding the sleigh to the top....so cool to trade in shoes for slippers.....such EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE (Hot Mamma and I still discuss how anyone/everyone would do anything for you - you didn't need to get your server to get a drink as anyone passing would do it)...such INCREDIBLE FOOD, such a cool place.....I really did not want to leave. It took a long time to get from the Park Hyatt to the Ritz on the shuttle, and then it is a bit of a confusing walk to get to the meeting place by the bar -- luckily someone in our shuttle had done it before and we all followed her (by the way, the bar at the Ritz looks awesome with a fireplace and lively crowd....). You need a reservation for sure. You meet in the lobby and they run a snow cat/groomer "sleigh"up the mountain to the restaurant. It was snowing and cold when we went up, but they provide large blankets to put around you --- I LOVED it and Hot Mamma hated it because it messed up her hair. The sled was a mix of couples and families. The guys who run it are really friendly and the one in the back spent all his time smiling, taking pictures, and answering questions. The restaurant is located in a grove of trees midway up the mountain -- so beautiful! When you arrive the hostess directs you to the "lockers" on the left where you hang your coat and slide into a pair of slippers. The place is really incredible, open, looks just like a place located on a ski slope should, huge windows and a big deck. It was really beautiful with the snow falling. Brett was our waiter and he was awesome. Prompt, great suggestions, and willing to answer any question and spot on with drinks and food. We never waited for anything, and he gladly sent over the wine steward to make a selection for HM (Hot Mamma) and it didn't bother his ego a bit. I had the ELK, that's right ELK, Tenderloin and it was the GREATEST thing I have ever had (better than any regular steak), and it was cooked to perfection. I was a bit nervous about trying it, but was assured that it would be exceptional and it was. So glad I tried it..... HM had the special (don't remember what it was) and the wine flight that went with it (3 or 4 different glasses)....I am not sure why she needed a Baileys at the end for an after dinner drink....but she was warm on the way down the mountain. As you near the end of the meal they let you know when the next sled is headed down, and you decide when to leave. Even though all the tables were full, we never felt pressured to leave. This place is awesome. Great for lunch on the mountain. Ski right in, take off your boots, enjoy the fire and eat delicious food - doesn't get much better than that. This is also a good spot to come in for a quick drink or just to warm up. You can ski in, take the snow cat, or snowshoe in. Members only (also open to Ritz Carlton guests now) and I would recommend a reservation for dinner and usually for lunch. But I don't have a problem when stopping in midday usually. Came here for dinner over Christmas break after a long day of skiing. The food was incredible, the service was wonderful, and the fur-lined crocs you receive upon entering were amazing. We ordered the foie gras with pb & j (sounds weird but was reaaally good), the famous elk, steak, butternut squash soup, chocolate lava cake, and way too much wine. Everything was delicious. We had dinner there last night for our first night in town. Excited to have our first meal on this vacation. We decide to make a reservation at 9 PM and we're excited to take the tractor up to the beautiful cabin. As we arrived, we were greeted by a hostess name by Valentina. She was amazing as well as a tractor driver, Nico. However, our experience went south when Sarah arrived.. it felt like we were in a roller coaster. All she would do was bring us food, remove food , bring us food , remove food until she decided to tell us that the last tractor was descending and we had to get on it, which was a lie. The whole meal felt thoroughly rushed , unfortunately, for the amount of money you pay for each plate you should not be rushed through your meal. It would've been nice if we were able to sit down with a nice glass of wine and enjoy and savior each plate. Reservations should not be available at 9 PM if the staff wants to get out and does not want to provide good service. Nobody should be rushed through their meal . If you're looking for an amazing experience and great food visit this beautiful establishment. Where do I start? You take a sleigh ride up one of the greatest mountains from one of the fanciest hotels(Ritz Carlton). The people on the snow cat are very knowledgeable and provide jackets/blankets. The entire look and feel is like as if you were at home in your fancy log cabin with a beautiful fire place. They have a great liquor/wine list, they even have a sommelier. The house made ricotta cavatelli was a very tasty appetizer, great with a glass of white wine. For dinner I actually spoke to the manager Frank and he convinced me to try the duck. I've always wanted to, but never have. He was very knowledgeable in explaining the dish and confident in his kitchens skills. The duck was cooked perfect, both the breast and the carnitas. The sauce added even more flavor and went together really well. The desert was a white chocolate cherry ice cream with a brownie, chocolate and nuts. Overall great experience and great food/drinks. The food was impeccable & the wine list was huge. The sleigh ride experience was quite the adventure especially because it was snowing outside (Dress VERY WARM). They have an area where you can hang up your coats... Everything on the menu was delicious!! Literally not one bad thing. We ordered the oyster, foie graś, and cheese plate for our appetizer. I had the lamb chop & my bf ordered the Wagyu filet! We were so full, but of course still had the s'mores for dessert! The ride up was absolutely beautiful.Stars were so bright. Little chilly, but they warn you of that and they have nice big jackets waiting for you. The crew on the ride up were also great. The only reason I give them a 4 is bc I think they could do a lot better job of confirming the dinner and explaining how the transportation to the cabin works. It was hard getting them on the phone. We checked in at the Ritz and stepped outside for a minute to take a picture and they didn't grab us for the first round of passengers up. This was my second time at Zach's cabin and we are glad we went back again. The first time we went with a big group of people and had an amazing experience. This time we took our 3-year old son and I was happy to see how family friendly they are. From the many things we ordered, the lobster gnocchi appetizer is superb! We ordered the short rib and filet for dinner and they were cooked to perfection. We were so looking forward to a nice, cozy dinner at Zach's Cabin after skiing, but unfortunately we were completely underwhelmed. The best part of the whole experience was the sleigh ride up and down the mountain. The staff that helped with reservations and the sleigh ride were so friendly, helpful, and had interesting information to share during our ride up to the restaurant and back to the Ritz-Carlton. Quick tip: get a drink at the Bachelor Lounge at the Ritz beforehand, because you can take your drinks with you on the sleigh ride :) Our dining experience was no experience at all. We got seated and attended to right away, but there was simply no engagement from our waitress and it seemed like she was almost rushing us out. The place was definitely cozy, and I loved the decor, but the atmosphere just wasn't there. Entrees were pricey (starting at $50 a plate), but I expected that when I made the reservation. I would recommend the crab dip as a starter for sure - it was so delicious! If you're planning on getting the Prime Ribeye, I would recommend sharing it because it was humongous. No white table cloths or center pieces on Christmas Eve. Those have historically been staples from an experience perspective. Except for the wine steward, the Servers were average. Again a historical strength. The new chefs food was great but the sides accompanying the entres were thin on quantity but good on taste. Overall they should be putting forth a much stronger effort to create a holiday dining experience to remember but are falling short this season. Vail Resorts is seeming producing a familiar theme of public companies... cut, cut, cut to boost the bottom line.
