My two stars go to the food and the view. The service was unfortunately abysmal tonight. We dined here tonight as hotel guests with two under two. We were seated at a table that already had a high chair, but it had pooled water which also had soaked the straps. I wiped up the water as best I could, but the straps were going to remain soaked for a long time. Upon asking our waiter for a new high chair, he said he would dry it off- we said the straps were soaked and he said not to worry about it, that he did this all the time. Well he dried off the chair and then covered the straps with a napkin. Sir, we needed the straps to strap our girl in! Anyway... My husband and I ordered the exact same thing- the chopped salad with salmon. Mine arrived with our daughter's pizza, and we asked if his salad was coming, and the waiter who dropped off the food said if we ordered it, yes. Umm ok. As I'm halfway through my salad, our original waiter checks in and says it should be coming. I'm now done with my salad and my toddler is done with her pizza. Waiter returns and says he's going to check with the kitchen. At this point, it's the kiddos' bedtime, so we ask them to make it to-go. Eventually the salad and the check arrive. Nothing is comped and no apologies are given. No excuses have been delivered... short staffed? Rough night? We get it! We didn't receive any reason for the delay. This could have gone SO differently if there was better communication. Upon receipt of the check, I asked if anything could be comped as my husband didn't get to eat. The waiter ended up comping his meal. I shouldn't have had to ask. So, eat, enjoy the view, anticipate poor service. read more

The Lookout is a lobby bar inside the Westin Riverfront in Avon. If you've tried the food in Maya and you loved it like me, then you will love the snacks that they offer here. Both kitchens are ran by chef Angel! Westin turned 25% of the lobby adjacent to the Lookout and extended the space to accommodate the pandemic guidelines. There's the other side as well that will be on your left as you walk in to May. We tried the ff: 1. Cheese and charcuterie board. 2. Margherita pizza 3. Lookout burger 4. Rose Bowl cocktail and Cherry Manhattan 5. The Candy Shop Everything was tasty and done with so much care. Fat, juicy burger! The pizza was amazing and the charcuterie board board was A+! But you know in life what surprised you the most sometimes is something you didn't see coming. This was the dessert in the form of the Candy Store. This tray was loaded with créme brulee, m&m's ,ice cream, cookies, sprinkles etc! Amazing! It was impossible to finish between the two of us! No kidding! This was a miniature candy store! Made me giddy! The Rosebowl was created by Grant Lewis. The Beverage Director. I will get this again! The entire staff was amazing. Met Chef Angel when he brought out the Candy Store. I was looking forward to a nice salad to take up to my villa for dinner. I'll start with the positive. The view is amazing. The ambiance wonderful. And that's where my 2 stars go. I ordered the chopped salad, dressing on the side and waited a ridiculous amount of time. I took the salad to go up to my room. The salad was heavily dressed with 1/2 of the salad being kale, which wasn't listed as one of the ingredients on the menu. (Which I can't eat). I went back out, through the snow, and explained my situation to a sympathetic bartender. He got me another salad with the dressing on the side, plus 4 dum dum suckers, which I guess was a nice gesture but I won't eat them. When I got up to my room, I had to search for anything besides the romaine lettuce. Shaved carrots? Someone sliced 3 pieces. Avocado? 4 small bites. Very, very sad salad for what should be an upscale bar. I guess I need to remember... it's a bar. On a side note, there is a big edge of the rug in the eating area curled back. Any day, someone will trip over it. read more

The $25 burger should be tender and juicy. It was neither of those things. I ordered medium rare and it came out medium to medium well. I was getting to my last bite when the server finally walked by (first time since the food was dropped off) and didn't even ask how the food tasted. I wasn't going to return it anyway. The Caesar salad was great and the anchovies were delicious. They never offered to bring drinking water refills though, we had to constantly remind them. The mushroom flatbread was OK but I wouldn't order it again but I would try a different flatbread. It has a really cool ambience and because of that, it has potential. But I don't think Westin / Marriott cares. At least invest in some quality ground beef. we actually came in to go to Stoke & Rye but it was closed today. read more

Attempted to order drinks here three nights, was successful on one of them. As another review stated, the service can be horrible. Night one was the good night, or there would not have been night two and three attempts. On that first night, the bartender came right over and made me a fantastic mezcal margarita. It was good mezcal too, not paying for the Casamigos "name" on run of the mill mezcal. Night two, busy, zero acknowledgement or I'd have been more patient, walked away at six minute mark. Night three is the one that annoyed me. The bar has two halves, one facing the large main room area of the hotel, the other facing a stairway and the hall to the Maya restaurant. I roll up to the dead side, where it was simply me and one other customer, on opposite corners of the bar. Bartender is working on something for that other customer, so he had to pass me three times going back and forth for ingredients, etc. Again, like night two, no acknowledgement, which honestly I don't care about if I'm not also waiting forever. After about five minutes, two other people show up to seats between myself and the other corner customer whose drinks were just about done. He serves those, then immediately goes to one of the new parties in the middle. That person was equally rude and didn't say hey I think that guy was ahead of me. I had enough, there's only so much effort I'll put into giving someone $18 for a margarita, so that was that. Two stars because the one night I was successful in making a purchase resulted in a fantastic drink. read more

The Westin Lobby is pretty disorganized and unfriendly this season which is massively disappointing since I've been coming for many seasons. It's hard to find a server especially when they all stand around. The bartenders have the personality of paint drying. I also sat at the bar at 3 pm to get my kid a sprite and they told me she could not sit there. This isn't state law and the Ritz has no problem (nor does Bobs during the day) with it so once again, thanks to an unfriendly and unhelpful staff, the experience sucked. The location, ambiance and food was great, however the service was the worst I have ever experienced. The restaurant was not busy and bar and tables at less than half capacity and yet it was like pulling teeth to get a server to wait on you. Once we had a server, she was far from friendly and wanted to spent as little time as possible at our table. We ordered 2 drinks and an appetizer and she didn't come back until a good 20 minutes after our drinks were empty and appetizer done. Really unfortunate to have such poor service at a fabulous Marriott ski in / ski out resort. They need to evaluate the waitstaff. read more

We were staying at the Westin, didn't want to venture out with the snow at night decided to sit at the bar, listen to lice music by Matty Garth, ordered a margarita that the bartender said was good....I said okay! It was $18 guys, it was more than my burger ??? If you recommend a drink it can't be 3 times the price of any drink on the menu. I switched to beer, which they had our fave from Colorado, Avery white rascal, yum! Paired perfectly with our mixed veggie app we ordered and the burger to follow! REALLY good burger 5 for 5! The service is a little tricky, not too much sitting to eat and enjoy unless you want to face a wall? Just ask for drink prices before letting the bartender make you a drink special... that happened to be a regular margarita ??? Yes it was good, but not 20$ good ! Haha ! If you want a little date night after dinner after 8pm ask the bartender for S'MORES, they are $15 but what good Instagram picture didn't cost you ? They have an outdoor area with a big fire pit facing the mountains ! Enjoy! read more

@ the lobby bar. Must have been Davids first night as a bartender and maybe in customer service. Terribly slow service, skipped over us multiple times at the bar throughout the night. Lots of people leaving after one drink. 4+ yrs staying in the area and never had someone rain on our parade like David did. Glad we had good company at our table and more ski days ahead of us. read more

We got the crispy chicken sandwich, margarita pizza and wings. All were very good. We also got the chili which is not worth the price. If you are going to get one thing- the chicken sandwich is the way to go. Service was great too! read more
