Our food came out freakishly fast! I got the waygu burger and sweet potatoe fries. My burger was excellent, I was really happy with it. The fries were lacking, it was dry. The beef brisket was trash more like sloppy Joe? Then the coloslaw looked suspect, looked old and tasted it too! That brisket needs to be off the menu. Give it a rest. We were looking for a low key atmosphere and this was definitely a relaxed vibe. The server was nice, but got the impression he wasn't normally the server. He took the order and someone from the kitchen brought out the food. Only one other table and a few people at the bar was a bit concerning, but we decided to stay. Place could really use some cleaning and updating. It reminded me of an old college bar that needed tlc. The menu had a lot of good offerings, but the food didn't taste freshly prepared. The chicken tasted premade and frozen. With so much competition in the area, it was surprising and disappointing . Great spot for a drink on a patio with a gorgeous view. I find the food to be your typical bar food, nothing to call home about. I chose chicken nachos this last visit with jalapeños on the side. The guy that brought it out tipped over the jalapeños when he set them down and several fell out. He said he'd been back with a new ones but brought back out the same container which only had 2 in it, one covered in sour cream from when they had fallen off the plate. Not sure why he did that but it was a bit of a turn off for the meal and I didn't eat much of the nachos. Service was slow despite it not being a busy day. read more

I have a theory that every restaurant that has a cartoon moose as their logo has amazing food, and Garfinkle's is no exception! This is the perfect spot after a day of skiing - the drinks were amazing (I had a hot chocolate that was delicious) and the food was great as well. I got a grilled chicken sandwic that was huge and tasty, and the sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had. I'm posting this review a few weeks late. The restaurant is located right at the base of a ski run. So, the ideal location at winter time for hungry skiers and snowboarders coming down the slopes. Everything on the menu looked great, prices were reasonable (for Vail/Avon, CO), and the portions were generous. Nachos and burgers are amazing! Burgers were cooked to perfection (medium rare we ordered). Now the details... Wow! This place was absolutely fantastic! In my experience, it is very rare to walk out of a restaurant and be in awe over the service (Cassie) and their food. Not to mention, to continue to talk about the dining experience there. Yes, of course it is 'bar food' or 'pub food' but in that category, this place gets FIVE STARS! What made the experience over and beyond great was the waitress -- Cassie (Casanave). Super friendly, very accommodating, fast and efficient! Cassie raised my bar on what good restaurant service should be! Next time we visit this restaurant, we are going to seek her out and sit in her section. I must say that I also noticed a camaraderie amongst the staff here. Terrible service, Avoid at all costs!!! Took my ID because they said it was fake, I'm 28 and look my age. Management and the servers were rude to me while I waited for the cops to show up and give it back, the manager even tried to kick me out while they still had my ID, which shows how much they care about service and how intelligent the people in charge are. The Police informed us this was a consistent problem with this establishment and wr should meet with the officer outside before the aggressive management lied to the officer about the situation. The police also told me that the scanner didn't say my ID was fake but that there was some other issue. I'm pretty sure the way they handled this was a crime also well as extremely unprofessional. Ambiance is what lets this restaurant stay in buisness. Mediocre at best food. Then add the fact that two of my sons' IDs were taken (ages 28 and 24). The restaurant would not give them back to us and would not call the police and told us that it was a crime to use a fake ID. Yes, that is a fact but these are real IDs so we called the police to get them back. Needless to say we will never be frequenting this restaurant and will not be recommending this establishment to any of my clients who visit Vail. I walked in said hello to a busser and sat at the bar for lunch. After 10-15 minutes the bartender looked at me several times didn't say a word , his bar back did the same. I was patient until some dude behind the bar decided to "jump in" a conversation I was having with another customer while stuffing his face . I asked," do you work? here cause I've been sitting here thirsty and hungry " I've worked in several restaurants and I'm pretty sure that if you want to keep your business open, greetings , a menu and a cup of water are bare minimum. She had tables, was obviously doing stuff and still was the one who brought me water and a menu while the other 4 people did nothing but look at me. Love the patio on a sunny day - especially in the winter for watching the Gondola in lionshead

Great patio bar in Lionshead, but don't be fooled by Yelp reviews making this bar come up #1 for happy hour. They do NOT have happy hour. Boooo. Knocked one star for that. However, they have a well curated bar with both local and global libations. As a gin lover, two of my favorites were here: Barr Hill Tom Cat and one from Mythology. Plenty of good eats. Even a vegan pasta and burger. Prices are normal for Vail. read more

We were able to walk in and find a table around 5:30ish on a Saturday night. They just closed the patio after we arrived since it was getting dark. Best starter is the platter of nachos - for a party of 5, we dominated it! I ordered the Reuben sandwich and it was a solid sandwich for dinner. Damn! this is such a mid restaurant to go to in Veil. I expected better since its in Veil and you know how boujie this place gets. My girfriend and her friends went to this place expecting a good meal after a long day of snowboarding, but mann I rather go to our local Wendy's to get these dishes. First, the customer service is terrible to begin with cause our server kept missing our order and our friend waited at least 30 minutes to be served at. I understand it is busy, but it should have been expected around this time of the season. Anyways, the food is mid, well except their wagyu burger (the only good part of their menu). Oh yeah their beers are pretty good actually.. other than that.. do not even bother ordering any. I ordered their bison burger and wow it was dry as a dessert in my mouth. They have caffeteria style buns, which is ridiculous for a $25 burger and fries. The prices that they charged does not match the food that they served. Yes, I am aware that we're in veil, but damn are you that selfish to provide better quality food. Cmon now, gotta step it up! Utterly dissapointment :/ read more

My food and cocktail were delicious! I sat on the patio and it was a gorgeous day :) Meghan my server was nice and attentive. Cocktail prices aren't listed, but they're reasonable. The one bummer was that the first guy who came over to my table seemed annoyed to serve me. I stepped away from work for a quick bite, and looked at the menu ahead of time so I could order promptly. After he took my drink order, I told him I would like to order my food as well. He refused to take my food order at that time, and said he would take it after my drink arrives. It just seemed weird to refuse taking my order when I was asking to order and he had the ability to ring it in (ordering device in hand). He did come back a few minutes later with my drink and then did allow me to place my food order. I asked for a side of sauce, and I could tell he didn't intend to bring it (I was a server for many years and i didn't see him input my request). Anyway, my friend liked her brisket sandwich and fries. We saw plenty of our server and the person bussing tables was also kind (my friend had 2 fries left and it's totally reasonable to think she might be done. He asked first and that was appreciated). It was breezy so we sat in the back where it was very comfortable. My spicy chicken sandwich was good but a little too pickley compared to similar sandwiches I've had.
