After a full day of skiing and snowboarding, my friends and I sought a place with happy hour. I called in advance to confirm their happy hour time, and the person who picked up the phone seemed like they weren't interested in taking the call, but in the end, they told me the time range of 2-6 pm. So my friends and I made our way to The George, but it is a bit hidden if you're unfamiliar with how Vail's resort is laid out. You'll find the entrance to The George off to the right-hand side of the Vail Mountain Haus Hotel. You'll walk down the steps to a hallway, where you'll be greeted by a bouncer who will check for your ID, since it is a bar. The atmosphere was boisterous, so you may need to speak louder to talk to your tablemates. Our server was helpful and attentive. He continually returned to check on us for our orders and to see if we needed anything else throughout our time at The George. Regarding the food and drinks, the happy hour cocktails and foods were good for the price! It is hard to find a happy hour deal of $5 for all drinks! Since the deals were so good, we had multiple rounds of drinks. Round 1: Dark and Stormy, Moscow Mule, Crown Apple Punch, PB & J Martini, and the Woodford Mule. Winner: Crown Apple Punch -- took the win among those who liked a more fruity taste. Runner-up: PB & J--If you're a fan of PB & J, you'll want this one because it tastes like the name. Honorable Mentions: The Moscow Mule was like any other mule anywhere else, but still good. As for the Woodford Mule, it had a more pungent taste with the bourbon. The same goes for the Dark and Stormy with the rum. Round 2: Nut and Berries (Hot Drink), Paloma, Jack Fire Cinnamon Whiskey, and Chocolate Orange (Hot Drink). Winner: Chocolate Orange -- tasted like an orange chocolate hot cocoa. Runner-up: Nuts and Berries -- a light, nutty-tasting hot drink that was perfect after being on the slopes. Honorable Mentions: Jack Fire Cinnamon Whiskey -- Tasted like a fireball. The Paloma tasted like grapefruit soda. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't our group's favorite. Foods: Bacon Cheese Fries and Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna Winner: Bacon Cheese Fries -- you can't go wrong with fries covered in cheese and bacon! Pass: Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna -- we wouldn't get this again. It tasted pretty bland. Overall, the experience at The George was good in terms of service, food, and drinks. I would make a stop here if I ever went to Vail again. TLDR: Service-Good Drinks: Good for happy hour - $5! Crown Apple Punch and Chocolate Orange are tasty drinks. Foods: Bacon Cheese Fries is a yes! PASS on the Ahi Tuna.

Great local spot, decent food at a good price and lots of standard drink options. I usually get the poutine, which is consistently dry (not enough gravy), but still tastes pretty good. I wish they served food later at night or opened earlier. Still giving 4 stars because I love the vibes here and it's one of the more chill places to get food in Vail. Service is also good!

8oz Filet Mignon for only $25 during happy hour!

We came here in a spur of the moment, decision visiting Vail for happy hour, and it is not disappoint!! Food and service was excellent :)

$23 filet with mash and veggies. Happy hour!!

My favorite place for apre riding. They have apps and pub grub for $13. A little bit high as far as specials, but incredibly cheap as far as Vail prices go. I love the variety, bar food to fish and chips and even a seared tuna. The seared tuna is my favorite. Lite, healthy, full of protein and comes with a small side salad. They also have entrees for $23 during the happy hour. The filet isn't always the best filet, but still a great price, and still a filet. Service is usually great. It gets crowded, so you might have to speak up if you need something, but they are usually really good with paying attention. Also everyone that's ever served me has been genuinely nice and cool . Great vibes, great service

Casual atmosphere pub located within the Vail Village. Good food, great prices, and good vibes. No complaints. Service was very tentative and was checked on multiple times by several different staff members. Seating can be limited depending on what time you visit, but there was full service at the bar. The location is downstairs at the end of the hallway once arriving to the building.

This place is my favorite bar in town! Not only do they make the best drinks for a decent price, but the food is super yummy and also decently priced. The service is also impeccable! I got the springs rolls and ordered dirty Shirley's to drink. They were both delicious. The ambiance is incredible, there's usually a game on the TVs and there's lot of couches to hangout on with friends. This is definitely my favorite spot in Vail to meet up with friends at.

Cute place. Service is decent. Brought us the wrong bottle of Cabernet but we're too nice to tell them that so we just ordered another one instead lol. The nachos are SO GOOD. If you like Tex-Mex nachos, then these are them!! I had the burger and hubby had the fish-n-chips. We loved them. Good sports bar line atmosphere and relaxing. Definitely recommend you trying it out!

Located at downtown Vail Village. It is an underground bar and restaurant. Very interesting setting. If you park at village parking garage, it is very close to the exit of parking garage. We were here for the Plum Duck. The dish is two confit duck legs. It is fried to crispy and comes with rice, veggies and spring rolls. The duck is drizzled with plum sauce. This dish is very good. Love it. If we come again, we will try the crab leg. This is restaurant with affordable price.

    Main Bar

The George is the quintessential "Locals Bar" in Vail. All the Lifties, local servers and laborers come here. If you're a Vail snob don't come here. If you're chill and good for a local vibe then you're welcome. Be prepared for a lot of shot challenges and an amazing locals vibe. Eryn, the newest bartender is amazing and a tribute to what has made The George famous for years! Enjoy!

    Happy hour menu

Best deal in Vail and the only happy hour my buddy and I could find. The happy hour menu (from 5pm-8pm) included: $6 "U call it drinks", $13 apps, and $23 entrees (even the filet mignon!). Our bartender, Heath, was hilarious and kept us entertained all night. Note this is a dive bar atmosphere, so probably not a great place to take kids or a romantic date. But if you are looking for a great happy hour bar, this is your place!

For a hotel pub this place exceeded our expectations. Granted it is at a high-end Marriott in Vail…read morebut still the food was excellent. The smoked salmon deviled eggs were almost shocking. The first bite surprised me and interested me and my girlfriend looked at my face and said how are they? I told her I didn't want to prejudice her so just to take one and tried herself. She did and the look on her face was probably like mine, surprised. We both agreed that they were different than any other deviled eggs we had ever had and they were very delicious. The presentation was very nice as well. We shared a beet salad and they split it onto plates for us and it was more than enough for each one of us. We also split a pasta 25 which was good but I had to ask for salt-and-pepper as it was in need of some spices. This is simply the bar/pub in a busy hotel but the kitchen really has it working! The staff did a good job as well but they are mostly very young people working seasonally so you are not going to get professional waitstaff as you would in a high-end restaurant like Leonora. It was still a great experience in the food was surprisingly good and super convenient since we were staying in the hotel.

The food was not very good at all, with the exception of the huge quesadilla appetizer (which came with a ton of fun toppings). The service was terrible. The music was nice. I ordered the turkey panini. Huge serving. Turkey, pesto, spinach, cheese, tomato, bacon. All these ingredients, but somehow this was very bland and soggy. The bacon was barely chewable and had no flavor as well. It came with a side salad. The salad looked delicious but had no flavor or dressing, and the few small croutons on top got soggy from the wet salad toppings. Yuck. I also tried the elk burger. My fiancé ordered this cooked medium. The sides were cooked fine, but the inside looked like ground beef you'd see in the raw meat aisle at a grocery store. He was unable to eat any of the middle of the burger because of this. Now we would've complained about the burger because this was health hazard undercooked inside, but our waitress never returned to ask how our food was until our food was long gone. No water refills so we refilled our own glasses with my reusable water bottle. No bill until literally 30 minutes after we asked her (and this was long after we were trying to figure out why she was not coming back to our table). It was a bummer because she was very nice, but we got no actual service from her.

Beginning with the greeting, they were absolutely lovely, very polite, sat us right away, we went on a non busy day so we had pretty much the second floor to ourselves. The host was lovely and then our waitress came and was just as nice, a great way to start a meal. We ended up getting the buffalo wings, SO GOOD, crunchy, lathered in sauce, tender enough, so flavorful, with a side of ranch. We had the onion rings, and let me tell you, those were BIG rings ! Again, nice and crunchy and so enjoyable. Last but not least, we had the loaded nachos and WOAH! Let me tell ya, this dish can feed up to 4+ people! It was only 2 of us and we were in shock at how big these nachos were so keep that in mind! They had beef, pico de gallo, salsa, cheese and they used different chips too, the regular and the blue tortilla chips, omg MOUTH WATERING! Full of flavor, very well made, everything about them was great! To drink we only had club sodas with lime but they do have a full bar and by the looks of it, they had it all so if Youre a drinker, this is also the place for you! The place was chill, dimmed lights, nice music not overly loud so you can still carry on a conversation , and very clean which is always on top of my list. The price was reasonable and I just loved it! This place was great in every way! Definitely HIGHLY recommend!
