Ambiance and service is terrific. Food, particularly the Colorado BBQ Menu foundation has been hit and miss over the past decade. Current Management is extremely dedicated to the "We Do Not Suck," goal. High Side now has three (3) locations; Breckinridge, Fair Play and Frisco. The actual BBQ pit is in Fair Play, and high quality meats and game-based sausages are supplied to the pit. BBQ is distributed to Breck and Frisco. During my tasting the sausage was moist and flavorful, turkey was amazing (so moist), pork shoulder was nicely smoked, and the brisket, although tough, was flavorful. Also tried delectable Mac-n-Cheese, Green Chili, Red Chili. High Side is dedicated to community involvement and occupies a great location in Frisco. Whoever is running this place has no clue about customer experience. They leave the doors open in the freezing cold. They have one guy working the whole place including food and drinks . Yes one guy!!! I waited forever to get a drink and just left to another bar then came back and still looked at me and didn't say one moment or anything. He looked like on the spectrum of retardation. Bands here get no good lighting or ambience. They should be out of business. Another bartender from before hates his job and acted like was doing a favor to get me a drink all annoyed. They are lucky mid season not a lot of options open now so they get away with crap food and service. read more

Great beer, good bbq, dogs, games, live music - what else can you ask for?! Service is awesome and they'll let you try samples to find your favorite brew. The spot is spacious and has several big couches and chairs next to a large warm fireplace. I loved that it was dog friendly. Food options are outstanding - the brisket was perfectly cooked and there was a great selection of sauces. The beer was awesome and the food was also. Their Mac n cheese had a good flavor, I think Gouda was the base. I tried the brisket and enjoyed it. Food, service ambiance, everything has declined considerably. The few people (4) that worked tonight were doing the best they could so I have no beef with the employees; however, no one was waiting on the tables( they had zero waiters) and we had to walk to the bar to order drinks and food. We ordered Southwest Salad which consisted of black beans, chips and ranch dressing (very little salad)- this was much closer to nachos. We questioned the salad and the cook stated this was their version of a salad. The macaroni and cheese was bland and smothered in cheese. The turkey sandwich tasted good but it was a $17 grilled turkey sandwich- very overpriced. The bar had decent microbrewery options but all the mixed drinks were made using rail liquor. This place used to have good waiters, gas fire pits that provides additional ambiance, and the food portions did not leave you running to the local Safeway for dinner! We spent an impromptu day/night in Frisco, and were in search of a brewery to spend the afternoon at after a long morning of hiking. After considering a few, we stopped at Highside given the food truck, as well! It's a cute little no frills place with great beer and space to hang out. They had some table games, but many people also came to work. We loved that the food truck set up allows you to bring your dog into the taproom. We enjoyed a flight of all of their beers and pulled pork nachos with all of the sauces. The mustard sauce was my favorite, but they were all solid! The beers were also solid - I don't typically enjoy dark beers but I enjoyed the pilsner and Oktoberfest per usual! Overall, very chill spot that I'd recommend for an afternoon snack break. :) read more

The staff is very friendly and taproom is nice but the beers were just okay. Nothing special. We tried the peach sour and Fresco chili and both were average at best. There is food truck outside with lots of food but sadly close to none vegetarian option. I Would say go there for the proximity of downtown but don't expect much! read more

Good drinks (I had the Kolsch and my partner had wine) and comfortable space, made more fun and animated by the friendly canine customers. On the other hand, the food was truly epic in its awfulness. We ordered the half rack of ribs and pulled pork sandwich, The ribs were incredibly tough (so, way undercooked). After finally sawing off a single rib, I recall the seasoning as somewhat off-putting, but it overwhelming saltiness (as opposed to the flavor and tough texture) that made them completely inedible. The pulled pork sandwich was better except that the pork was borderline cool/tepid, so pretty unappetizing. And as others have noted, a "side of pickled vegetables" means a couple of pickle chips. Here's what was most annoying: we're on vacation, the meal put us off ordering anything else, so we decided not to say anything. Yet, when the owner/manager who took our order stopped by to collect the trays, he paused to look at the uneaten meals, then picked everything up without asking how the meals was or if there was a problem and walked away. My boyfriend and I were on the road, and we made a pit stop in Frisco to take a break from driving and to get dinner. Frisco is a small town, and the options available on a Tuesday during off-season were pretty limited. We wanted a quick and delicious meal at a casual place, and Highside Brewing was the best option that we saw. Highside Brewing has beer and BBQ - the perfect combo - and the menu has ample options on there. We settled on a flight, a two meat platter, and some tacos al pastor. After a long day of driving, good beer was really refreshing. Beware of the Frisco chile beer though - that one really does have a spicy kick to it, but it is great if you want something to wake you up. Otherwise, the Frisco gold is a standard beer that is pleasant and easy to drink. The two meat platter was a decent amount of food. We chose pulled pork, brisket, and baked beans for our platter. The pulled pork and beans were ok, but the brisket was delicious. It was soft, flavorful, and not too fatty. The tacos al pastor were delicious as well. Highside Brewing was a great choice for dinner. The beer and BBQ were both good. The service was a little slow, but the staff was nice. The place has a cool vibe, and there is plenty of space to hang out at. The taproom is downstairs, the bar is upstairs, and there is outdoor dining space too. There were no events going on when we were there, but there sometimes is live music or trivia night. We would have hung out longer, but we had to get back on the road. read more

High side was on our list to try in Frisco. The environment is fun and cozy, but food and beers were not impressive. We tried the smoked brisket, St. Louis ribs, blacks beans, baked beans, potato salad. Nothing was served hot- everything was barely warm so that was disappointing. The potato salad had good flavor but the potatoes weren't cooked to be soft, but rather had a crisp to them. The bowls looked pretty spotty from the dishwasher. The beers were ok, served cold was their biggest benefit. Something to try is the rice lager. read more

The beer at this place is absolutely delicious. I was visiting frisco on vacation, and I ended up hitting this brewery up two nights during my stay! Additionally, you can bring your dog on the first floor, which is just a grand time! There were many dogs amongst the guests tonight. That made for an even better environment (in my opinion). There's a nice view from the second floor here that we were seated at. It's too bad that there's a bunch of construction happening and that the lake is being dried up. Anyways, we came here for lunch and we were pretty happy with what we had. I tried some of the brisket with potato salad. Both were tasty but the brisket was a workout on my jaw trying to eat it. I also had a flight of beer which I'd be down to try again. Plenty of beers to try here and the one's I had were tasty. read more

Honestly not sure why the ratings for Highside are lower than expected. We had a great time here, met great waitstaff, and had the option of indoor or outdoor seating. This was an incredibly windy and cold day and even after sitting outside on the upper patio, the server was more than happy to move us indoors, right on the other side of the glass, where we enjoyed the same amazing view but much warmer. Even inside, seating was spacious and not too close. Everyone wore masks and atmosphere was fun and hip. Digital menus made ordering easy and fast. We ordered some apps and enjoyed a sour beer for me and an IPA for my partner. The space is really nice and I'd love to come back in the future and take advantage of the arcade style games inside, the shuffleboard and other fun options inside. Nice job, Highside! read more

The skinny: Great large spot to hang out with good food and drinks. The food/drinks: We came here with a gift card and didn't have super high hopes - we've been burned trying a few 'highly rated' places near Brek in the past - but we were very pleasantly surprised. A large variety of beers that were quite good - we liked the Monk Juice and even bought a crowler to go (added bonus - their crowlers have a really cool mountain art on it). We got a BBQ platter that was quite delicious - the brisket was nice and fatty and all the meats had a great smokey flavor. The pulled pork was a little dry for me - but the BBQ sauces were yummy. Overall solid drinks and food. Atmosphere: Great spot with nice views. Very large with 2 floors and outdoor seating. Staff was super friendly - and it allows dogs as well! COVID: We have been avoiding eating inside as much as possible - but it was cold out and they are doing a great job so we felt comfortable enough. Everyone was wearing masks and all the tables were distanced and clean. The beers we had were decent. The BBQ was good. The place was over run with big dogs. I normally don't have an issue with pets kept under control. These dogs were not controlled. Several were not even on a leash. One kept getting into other people's chairs and faces. One dog broke the beer glass knocking it off of the table of someone that was not in there group. The same dog ate off of a different person's plate. Pretty unacceptable for owners of pets to not control their pets behavior. Not coming back. read more

Great brewery conveniently located right near the main streets of Frisco and right across from the rec path. We sampled their gingerbread beer and their chile beer which were both excellent. Also, it was a major plus for us that they allowed dogs on the first floor since our guests had a pup in tow. Service was fast and friendly. We only ordered nachos for food and while these were serviceable they were a bit lacking in cheese and flavor. Oddly, we found this brewery to be a lot nicer and cleaner than Dillon Dam Brewery which does not allow dogs. The floors here were immaculate and everything was very fresh whereas at Dillon, there were crumbs and scraps of food all over the floors. Maybe the dogs help keep it tidy but my guess is it's probably their great staff! read more

We came on Super Bowl Sunday and were happy to find a place to watch the game . Plenty of seating and lots of tvs . The beer was good . Food was terrible . Had the wings, which are pretty hard to mess up , but they did . They came out cold and tasted strongly of liquid smoke with no other sauces other than ranch to cover up the taste . Beer is good but there are soooo many breweries to choose from, why would I want to come here? Let me tell you, for the opportunity to share my experience with all y'all. Upstairs serves wine, but that wasn't very clear. And why only upstairs? The back has an outdoor patio, but it's messy and cluttered with whiskey barrels and not enough tables. Nobody came by to pick up glasses at any table, and for a Friday evening, it was pretty sparse. I didn't see a single employee outside. I did enjoy the Caught Looking Cream Ale and was pleasantly surprised by the Chili Lime flavored beer. But the selection of pub food wasn't the best and again, the atmosphere wasn't fun.
