My college friends and I had a lovely evening at Vista. It was easy to get there and they valet your car for you upon arrival. The food was delightful, some of the best I've had in the valley. I tried the mushroom soup, Rocky Mountain lamb shank, coffee gelato, and the Girl Scout thin mint cookie martini. The service was fantastic and our waiter was very friendly and helpful when choosing dishes. There was a good bit of people there but it wasn't too loud or too crowded. My family has dined at Vista at Arrowhead many times over the past few years. Last night was the last time I will dine there. Our party of 4 arrived at 5:55 for a 5:45 p.m. reservation. We were told that since we were more than 5 minutes late we would not be seated on the patio because the table was needed at 7:30. We assured the hostess we would be finished by 7:30 and not linger. We also suggested they tell people about the 5 minute late policy at the time of the reservation. We quickly ordered and our food was delivered promptly. The food is usually good but last night the lobster was overcooked and tough and difficult to cut. Another person ordered the halibut and it was also overcooked. Okay - sometimes it's not perfect. The other two meals were good. At 7:15 the waitress dropped off the check and we put the credit card down for payment. At 7:25 Will, the manager, came to our table (with the bill sitting there ready to be taken) and asked if we could move inside. We showed him the bill and credit card which he quickly took to process. He came back and didn't apologize for asking us to move (leave) when it wasn't our fault we were still sitting. We spoke up and said we have dined at this restaurant at least 5 times in the past three weeks and did not appreciate the fact that he asked us to move when we were waiting on them to process the credit card. We told him we felt it was rude and unacceptable to which he replied "okay". This is a restaurant open to the public but they cater to the country club members. Okay - I get that but we are paying guests and should be treated with appreciation too. There was a table of 6 that was on the patio when we arrived and still sitting there when we were asked to move it! Of course, they were in their golf attire and clearly members so they were allowed to linger as long as they wished. Sorry Will! You blew it as manager. I won't be returning. read more

Ah bummer. The table we were seated at ruined the otherwise flawless experience for my husband's birthday, for which our kids had flown in. We imagined we'd be seated in the lovely room for non members. Instead we were in the side of the bar with a view of the entrance hallway. Members gathered in the bar near us and men were backing into my daughters' seats and crowding our table. This happened during our appetizer service and continued through the dinner service. At one point I stood and asked the men to move away and their reaction was frightening, as they glared at me and took a tiny step back. After dinner was cleared the hostess offered to ask the people to move and apologized, bought us a dessert. Really? No one wants a free dessert in substitute for a compromised experience. The host was coming to the group throughout our service and chatting with them, they were hugging wait staff. Clearly they were the important guests. Perhaps had the staff taken care of the issue sooner, we'd have felt more seen. read more

Amazing food. Amazing service. We sat at the bar and the bar tender, Sean was great. Amazing recommendations. The crab cake special was to die for and all crab. The muscles are out of this world (but heavy) and the tuna main was unreal, wasabi mash is killer! We forgot our credit card and they called us within 5 minutes of leaving to come get it. When we pulled up the vallet had it waiting for us. The vallet was also amazing, he pulled our car around as we were closing the tab and it was there waiting for us! This was hands down one of the best experiences we've had on our trip to the beaver creek area. The staff was friendly, the views- incredible. The specialty cocktails- outstanding. The piano player adds a sophisticated touch to the dining experience. We enjoyed the lobster ravioli and salmon entree - both dishes perfectly prepared. Our group ate two times at Vista during the past week. Between the 8 of us, we tried almost everything on the menu. Favorite things: 1. In general the prices offered a relatively good value. 2. The extremely comfy club chairs. Make sure you get a table with those chairs. In general, this is a very beautiful and comfortable restaurant. 3. Not too many young children. A bonus. 4. Beautiful views overlooking the golf course. 5. Lovely piano music. 6. The desserts. Homemade and great value. 7. They give you very large portions. Can take home for another meal. 8. The way the menu is structured you can build your own meal. Best Dishes: Desserts: save room Steaks Tuna Mussels Chicken Pot Pie Bread and white bean puree Wasabi potato puree Porcini gnocci Good/Fair Dishes: We felt that the restaurant was heavy handed on the salt. This was evident with the overcooked salmon as well as the spaghetti squash dish overwhelmed with roasted tomatoes which two of us had. This is the reason for 4 stars versus 5. I had the worst experience eating here the other night, from the minute we sat down our waitress Melanie was so rude. The whole night she was so condescending and curt. It was such a distraction from the ambience and food. At one point she told my friend, who was deciding whether or not to order something, "well it's only 6 dollars why wouldn't you..." which is so rude for a server to say. Because the service is poor and the food is downright terrible. I had salmon that was dry, tasteless, and overpriced. My wife had a caesar salad that amounted to old lettuce (iceberg not romaine) that made a McDonald's salad look like an artisan dish. I've been a fan of Vista for many years. They just did a huge, beautiful remodel. The problem is they've separated it into a member/non-member restaurant (they are part of a prestigious country club). To be honest it makes you feel a bit like a second class citizen. It is their choice, but clearly they want the increased revenue. Not a fan. I hope this is not their long term plan and they reconsider. Many from the Arrowhead area have supported them for years. First off, I ordered a ceaser salad, and instead of giving me romaine lettuce. I had iceberg lettuce with brown spots on it, which is an indicator that the lettuce was old. Wow - this place was spectacular, from the view to the service to the food. Everyone at my table loved their meals; I had the roasted beet salad and the tuna; others had the potato crusted halibut and the short ribs with polenta - everything was divine. We sat inside because it was a bit cool, but we had a wonderful table by the patio with a lovely view - we even saw a double rainbow. Went there for New Years with a party of 8. The server dropped a room divider on two of our friends heads. They were both injured but being good sports they didn't make a scene and we continued our nye dinner. The server was unapologetic and borderline rude the rest of the evening rolling her eyes at drink orders etc. When we got the 800 dollar bill it we didn't get comped for anything despite our friends lumps on there heads from the room divider falling on there heads and the server hand wrote a 20 percent gratuity to our bill. I've never left a review on anything but this was the most bizarre and disturbing experience I have had at a fine restaurant. Full disclosure i live in the area and frequent this place a lot and I'm confounded that the management didn't attempt to make this right. I'm considering legal actions... read more

I have been here about ten times. Lately, I have been mountain biking Beaver Creek Mountain and going here after to eat and have a beer. Each time, I have been dirty (even a little bloody one time) and dressed in biking gear. This restaurant is at a country club. They treated me well despite my looks, and the owner (Jeanine) even introduced herself and her chef husband and she remembered me and what I ate today when I returned. Soup today (lamb minestrone with pesto) was the best I have ever eaten. Sean, waiter today, was really nice and a good guy. Mussels also AWESOME! Great bread and snacks at the bar.
