Honey wasabi crusted baked oyster
Lori W.

Thanksgiving at Gas House was spectacular! We ordered buffalo carpaccio and elk tidbits as our appetizers. For my entree I had the honey wasabi crusted baked oysters which were to die for. I also had a crab cake and tried a jackelope sausage which was a highlight of the night. I love the ambiance of this place- lots of animal head hanging on walls along with license plates scattered along the walls in building. The service is always great! I can't wait to come back and try more game meat and seafood!

Review # 3600. Rare Authentic Food - Games Meat. The Gashouse has something that we seek - games meat. We were looking for games meat restaurants when we are visiting Vail area mountain. We found this restaurant located at Edward and decided to have lunch there. The restaurant amenities with a lot of animals taxidermy. It is almost like a museum. Love the display. The restaurant has the bar area, main dining hall or outside seating. All are very well decorated. We started with Buffalo Carpaccio. The carpaccio is unique and games taste. Our nest app is grilled quail. It is one bird with very good marinated sauce. The grill technique is excellent. Meat is very tender. We also got grilled elk tenderloin sandwich. The coating marinated is tasty. The tenderloin also very pleasantly presented. I recommend this dish. Our visit is definitely a very good experience. Highly recommended. Service is good. Food is good.

This is one of our go to restaurants every time we travel to the Beaver Creek area! It is one of the few places that offer game meat and cook it well!! We got to sit outside and it was beautiful where we were seated. Shortly after a large party was sat and they had the sun in their faces. The waiter then moved one of the umbrellas slightly over to help and told them if the owner saw he'd be upset. We all laughed him off but shortly after the owner came to sit other guests and he noticed the table/umbrella moved almost instantly. He sat the guests and then came back and shifted the umbrella. The poor waiter looked scared and the other workers walked away as fast as they could Other than an owner who appeared to be aggressive towards his workers, the meals were delicious. Don't come here if you are expecting a fancy restaurant! This is definitely a lowkey, locals, hole in the wall place. We love it!

This was our first time visiting Vail. I asked the hotel staff where to eat games meats. They recommended Gasthouse. And it turned out to be a satisfactory experience. We were there for lunch. The interior got a lot to look at- around the walls and on the ceiling. We ordered grilled quail, Buffalo Carpaccio, elk sandwich. We don't get this type of meat in Florida. The dishes were all quite tasty. The service was good. I enjoyed the unique game meat dishes and their goofy interior decoration. I had a good time dining here.

This place is fun for all ages. Think hunting museum lol. We went on a Tuesday around 2:30 and there were only 2 other tables at the time of walk in. The phone kept ringing. Our waitress was nice and looked like she was running the entire place by herself. Another table arrived but luckily we had gotten our food already so only had to chase down for the check. The food was decent, nothing spectacular. The fried chicken was indeed moist but was in major need of seasoning. Please keep in mind I am from the south so we probably tend to over season our food but honestly this needed seasoning. The crunch was there, the tenderness and moistness from the chicken was there, but it was lacking the actual flavor to make this an outstanding dish. Macaroni was decent, fries needed salt (seasoning). The Hunters Stew was good. The kids chicken tenders were also good and kid friendly so that helped. The bar drinks were the best thing if I were to be honest. Although they may need a little help during the day, I would probably return to try the dinner menu as I saw a few interesting things listed that caught our attention.

We were hungry for lunch and saw this little place on the corner. What a great find! Although we've since heard the meat is the big draw, we each had a great meal. My favorite part of my meal was the truffle fries!! Prompt and friendly service, clean table and utensils.

After my 1st day snowboarding, due to our lack of snow this winter, Vail had the best forecast, and…read moreI happily rode 7 runs in 2-hours, and was then starving, after also skipping lunch. Since I'd parked at Lions Head, before I returned to Denver, I considered the Vail Chophouse, as their menu looked delicious, however when I went inside, the live music was so loud - even with my noise-canceling headphones still in- that I still couldn't hear, and knew I'd blow out my ear drums. Enter: Montauk Seafood Grill, the perfect antidote, with an equally appealing menu, and a much more serene ambiance. :-) Given I was famished, I asked my wonderful server, Brenn, for recommendations, and she was - hands down - one of the best servers I've had, in a long time. She was friendly, attentive, honest, and an all around delight. I started by asking her suggestion, as to if I should order the "Blood Moon" or "Happy Coconut" mocktail, and she recommended the Blood Moon, which was delicious! I love Blood Orange, and it had the perfect combination of mint, to be both sweet & sour. I needed a mocktail, given I was driving back to Denver, after dinner. She then brought me delicious Rosemary Sourdough and Citrus Butter, as a starter, which was fantastic, especially given I needed all the carbs, from skipping lunch, riding so much, and from fasting the night before, for a prior medical appointment, that morning, in Denver, hence my late start, snowboarding. Then I ordered - and loved - the Point Reyes Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon, medium rare, with the most delicious asparagus I've ever had, and I was grateful that they could make my truffle potatoes, whipped, instead of hash brown style. I ended my delicious dinner with a cappuccino, for the drive home. Perfection!

I have eaten at every restaurant on the square except there. We arrive at 2:37pm and the host told he could not seat us because the close at 3pm a reopen at 4:30pm and they take their last seating at 2pm for lunch! We graciously left and said we were sorry. I go back there today by myself at 2pm and was seated at the bar by the same host. Sat down at the bar the server was Kurt and pushing, which I am use to up here, did not even excuse herself or tell she was leaving. Kind of rude as a server. As I was finishing up I notice people coming 2:37pm, 2:45pm and 2:50pm and the same host that refused to serve us sat every one of them at a table. This was my first time eating this restaurant and after our experience the day before. It is not a good look. I do not think will eat there again. Derrick Poe

To begin with, I would say the food here was definitely above average. Most of the dishes we had…read morewere tasty. Their signature spicy tuna on crispy rice though was below average. Extremely small pieces. Six for $30. Nuts. Almost tasteless. And that is the problem with this place. The prices are even beyond ski resort crazy We got a spicy salmon roll with ikura for $42. Eight small pieces. And these spicy fish items, of course, use all the odds and ends of the fish. They are the byproduct of Nigiri. As someone who eats in New York and San Francisco all the time and even in Park City and Vail, I was really shocked by these crazy prices.

We were never left waiting for service. Bowen brought water right away and took our drink orders. I ordered a dirty Martini which was made perfectly. Cold, filled to the rim and balanced correctly. Everyone else seamed to like their cocktails. We ordered the warm Parker house rolls for the table. They were warm & delicious. Three of us ordered filets cooked medium. The others ordered trout, wiener schnitzel and the ribs. Everyone said their filet's were cooked correctly but all needed seasoning. The béarnaise sauce was light and tasty. The trout was good, ribs were good but not fall off the bone. The other person didn't care for the Wiener schnitzel. The spatzle was hard and crunchy. No flavor. None of us understood the side of scalloped potatoes and broccoli. The scalloped potatoes seamed like they came from a box. Then a few pieces of broccoli thrown on the plate. Not what you would expect from an expensive restaurant. For dessert, we ordered the banana puddin' panna cotta. This was honestly terrible. The key lime tart was refreshing and tasty. Although Russell's is a nice restaurant and our server Bowen was excellent, the food is not on par with the prices.
