We went for dinner during our trip to Beaver Creek. It was on a weekday and this place was busy, tables filled up pretty quick! I love the rustic cabin decor in the dinning room, very warm and cozy vibe. Our server Brett is great, informative and very patience with us. Soup of the Day was Beef & Vegetable and it was pretty good. On the entrees, we went with the grilled wild game meats. Hubby got the Elk Combo (Elk Chop, Grilled Quail, Jackalope sausage). The chop cooked just right, tasty sausage and the quail was delicious. Terrible experience with a rude & bully manager. He seated us (4 seniors with hearing devices) in the back room along with 3 large noisy family groups. We asked to change tables and he refused. Waitress recognized we were miserable, painfully. In her valiant attempt to find another spot, she failed. We asked about outside and she moved us there. HE FIRED HER FOR THAT! Family tradition place when we come to Vail. After a day of rafting we grab a quick dinner here on our way back to Vail. Our kids are older now but are still horrified by all the mounted animal trophies on the wall. Heads up to parents with younger kids. Wife and I told them to suck it up. Jessica our waitress was awesome. Friendly and great service. My wife and son had the ribs and said were amazing. My other son and I had the cheeseburger which satisfied the $23 cost. First off I would like to say that I've always appreciated the Gas house and I definitely eat there anywhere from 5 if not more times a year. Not necessarily the most high in food nor is it expected. Which is ok. It Has a cool old school bar steakhouse feel to it. The last 25 years that I have been eating there it definitely has dwindled considerably over the years, but tonight was by far the worst and completely unacceptable. I took my dad out for his 76th birthday and was embarrassed by the lack of quality the food had, when it was brought to their attention they gave pretty much 2 shits. My fathers Grilled chicken was a 6 oz chicken breast cut in half to be paper thin and then grilled, why who knows, I am gonna assume they lost the ticket for a hot minute, he could barely cut the chicken when it did finally cut it legitimately crumbled and had zero seasoning I mean Zero. The burger was again seasoned with incompetence, the fries were or had been re dropped in the fryer at least 3-4 times completely saturated nothing but oil pockets... my wife got the steak bites and you couldn't even chew through it. A 5 year old has more talent cooking than what is being produced out of that place. It was legitimately insulting being fed food of that quality and believing it was acceptable. When it was brought up to them that is it was unacceptable the manager who has been there since the dawn of time "obviously burt out"...Clearly he dose not care what is produced out of there. Started telling me this is how they do it and that buffalo is a lean bland meat bla bla bla, sorry sir but I am not gonna tell you that I know food inside and out. It's what I do... so while you're feel good and confident about blowing smoke up peoples asses about your so called food knowledge and looking like a completely uneducated liar. BEWARE! DECEPTIVE! We were in vacation and came to eat at the Gashouse. On the menu it clearly states that all entrees have a choice of sides, including rice, veggies, baked potatoes, etc. 2 in our party ordered a pasta dish under the entree section and chose our sides. When we received the check they had added over $20 for the sides. When we questioned this we were told pasta dishes dint get the sides. I pointed out on the menu how it said all entrees receive sides and the manager said that we should have known a pasta dish doesn't come with sides. He said the menu is not a contract!! And was extremely rude!!!! The food was decent but do not go to this restaurant. First off, I cannot believe this place only has three stars, we got the five star treatment and our food to complement that rating. My friend and I went here after a sweet birthday camping trip. We ate outside on the patio which has that secluded garden feeling. Our first order was an appetizer of Rocky Mountain oysters. I had never had them before but always wanted to try. They were excellent by the way!... thinly sliced, with a taste and texture similar to veal. I ordered the Wagyu or Kobe beef burger, I don't recall what it was exactly but it was super tender and delicious, cooked perfectly to my request. With all the accessories, my burger was about 4 1/2 inches tall! The truffle fries were fragrant, delicious and perfectly cooked. Michael was incredible! Sincerely the best service I think I've ever had. It was my friends 35th birthday and, at the end of our meal, Michael brought her out a sweet little chocolate cake of some kind and sang happy birthday to her in Swedish. It was the kind of experience that everyone who dines out hopes to get. I know it's super rare to get that level of quality when dining out, and so I highly recommend going during the off hours. Thanksgiving at Gas House was spectacular! We ordered buffalo carpaccio and elk tidbits as our appetizers. For my entree I had the honey wasabi crusted baked oysters which were to die for. I also had a crab cake and tried a jackelope sausage which was a highlight of the night. I love the ambiance of this place- lots of animal head hanging on walls along with license plates scattered along the walls in building. The service is always great! We found this restaurant located at Edward and decided to have lunch there. The restaurant amenities with a lot of animals taxidermy. It is almost like a museum. Love the display. The restaurant has the bar area, main dining hall or outside seating. All are very well decorated. We started with Buffalo Carpaccio. The carpaccio is unique and games taste. Our nest app is grilled quail. It is one bird with very good marinated sauce. The grill technique is excellent. Meat is very tender. We also got grilled elk tenderloin sandwich. The coating marinated is tasty. The tenderloin also very pleasantly presented. I recommend this dish. Our visit is definitely a very good experience. Highly recommended. Service is good. The absolute worst management I've ever encountered. We had a family of 9 for dinner. We ordered desserts at 7:25pm and were told to leave the table because they had a reservation at 7:30pm. This is one of our go to restaurants every time we travel to the Beaver Creek area! It is one of the few places that offer game meat and cook it well!! We got to sit outside and it was beautiful where we were seated. Shortly after a large party was sat and they had the sun in their faces. The waiter then moved one of the umbrellas slightly over to help and told them if the owner saw he'd be upset. We all laughed him off but shortly after the owner came to sit other guests and he noticed the table/umbrella moved almost instantly. He sat the guests and then came back and shifted the umbrella. The poor waiter looked scared and the other workers walked away as fast as they could Other than an owner who appeared to be aggressive towards his workers, the meals were delicious. Don't come here if you are expecting a fancy restaurant! This is definitely a lowkey, locals, hole in the wall place. We love it! read more

This was our first time visiting Vail. I asked the hotel staff where to eat games meats.They recommended Gasthouse. And it turned out to be a satisfactory experience. We were there for lunch. The interior got a lot to look at- around the walls and on the ceiling. We ordered grilled quail, Buffalo Carpaccio, elk sandwich. We don't get this type of meat in Florida. I really wanted to love this place. Parking-Hard to locate the drive-limited spots. No direction as to overflow. Inside- it's smaller and quaint but also tired and dingy. Feels like a hole in the wall. I was thrown because their website is very polished and then we arrive and were thrown. Service was lacking. Drinks took a long while. A few major mis-steps by the waiter.... 1- never checked back after food was delivered (delivered by runners so it had been a LONG time). 2-we had an issue w one of the entrees. He was not receptive and was just short of irritated and or in disbelief. We told him the (40.00) steak was so tough we couldnt cut it and it had a "turned" flavor suggesting it was spoiled. He just stared at us. I finally had to say-please take this away; it's inedible. He didn't even ask if we wanted to order something else. He left and came back and then asked if we wanted something. He also never brought something we lacked and had asked for a second time. The food was good. We loved the chicken poblano soup and the sausage trip. The elk steak was also good. This place is fun for all ages. Think hunting museum lol. We went on a Tuesday around 2:30 and there were only 2 other tables at the time of walk in. The phone kept ringing. Our waitress was nice and looked like she was running the entire place by herself. Another table arrived but luckily we had gotten our food already so only had to chase down for the check. The food was decent, nothing spectacular. The fried chicken was indeed moist but was in major need of seasoning. Please keep in mind I am from the south so we probably tend to over season our food but honestly this needed seasoning. The crunch was there, the tenderness and moistness from the chicken was there, but it was lacking the actual flavor to make this an outstanding dish. Macaroni was decent, fries needed salt (seasoning). The Hunters Stew was good. The kids chicken tenders were also good and kid friendly so that helped. The bar drinks were the best thing if I were to be honest. Back to the GasHouse for our first night back at Beaver Creek. The host kindly sat us where requested then the our waiter, Will, arrived and announced that we would only have 1.5 hrs to dine because it was spring break. In February. We had reservations and a time limit had not been mentioned on reserving nor by the host. Things went downhill from there. We ordered a buffalo carpaccio to share among 3 of us and had eaten barely 1/6th when our mains arrived. So, in order to enjoy our hot entrees we had to forgo the carpaccio and ended up taking it home. The food was as good as ever but the service was so rushed it completely ruined the meal. We love this place for the casual mountain ambiance and the elk entrees but the service this time sadly ruined our night. read more

If I ate here again I'd get the Buffalo Ribeye and Habenaro Antelope Sausage. My husband got that for his dinner entree and I had a few bites and loved it. He enjoyed his entree so much that he was surprised this place didn't currently have higher reviews on Yelp. I enjoyed my crab cakes and Cajun shrimp. The lobster tail was a little over cooked though. The atmosphere is unique since there's lots of hunting and animal paraphernalia. They have an extensive cocktail list too. I had dinner here with five other people who had all been here before. I was intrigued by the atmosphere and menu. The food's fine, nothing spectacular or particularly flavorful in a good way. I am not a huge meat eater, let alone an adventurous meat eater, but I ordered a lot of new meat here; I'm more of a chicken and seafood person, but I was determined to try something new. I wanted to try the rocky mountain oysters because I've never had them, but I couldn't convince my best friend to split them with me so we didn't get them. For my meal, I had the wild game sampler with elk, grilled quail, and buffalo and jackalope sausage with a side of the buffalo ravioli. It was definitely cool to try all the new meat- I had only ever had elk before and have actually never seen quail or jackalope on another menu before. The quail was surprisingly my favorite part of the meal, even though it was a little dry. The sausage was ok, and the elk was extremely tough. This was definitely too much meat for me but I thought the $40 price tag was a decent deal for it. The ravioli I was not a fan of at all. They were drowning in the demi glaze which was very strong and thick. The ravioli themselves were a little undercooked and pretty bland. Overall, I had a unique meal I probably couldn't order anywhere else. Skip the ravioli. If you're adventurous, try something new! There's a lot to offer here for everyone. This was one of the worst experiences I have had in Vail Valley. I am a local and had a 4:30 reservation as we have small children. Due to horrible road conditions, we arrived 15 min late. Prior to our arrival, I called and the owner and was told that we "had to be out by 7:00. We will work with you". BUT upon arrival we were told that we had to be out by 6:00!! Rather than being gracious and working with a customer, we were told "we don't have a table for you!!!!" After negotiating with them, because it is New Years Eve Weekend and had two hungry babies, we were seated and RUSHED to order and eat our dinner. (NOTE: The server, Daniel, was gracious and accommodating with meals as well as navigating our quick entrance and exit). While seated by the kitchen, we heard the management yelling at service staff in a VERY rude manner, While I understand the need to get tables switched out and ready for next seating, to talk to employees this way in an open environment was disturbing. Really sad how the food quality has gone downhill. Have loved this restaurant for the past 10 years. I get why prices have moved up 30% in this economy, but unacceptable when the food has taken a big turn for the worse. Our prime rib looked grey and was cold in the middle.... as if it was reheated. When I sent mine back immediately, it appeared that it was then microwaved and now cooked medium well, and now darker grey. The legendary twice baked potatoes now appear to be pre-made and quickly re-heated - even the cheese appeared smashed into the potato and something I'd heat up from Costco. The menu is primarily grilled meats and some decent seafood options. We had the ribs, elk steak and jackalope sausage. The sides included rice pilaf, baked potato and sautéed veggies and were all fine, but nothing to write home about. The sausage was very tasty and had a good bit of spiciness. Ribs were okay and had a decent wet sauce, but not smokey or fall off the bone. Elk was a little tough even though it was good properly at medium rare. Maybe it's just a tough cut. We were greeted by a snide hostess who told us that our reservation had been cancelled and our table already given to another group. The service was awful. Our waiter was great, but the hostess was awful. She even asked us to leave after 1.5 hours. We were being respectful, and we had just spent 400 dollars. She said there was a group waiting, but there was no one waiting when we left. Also, there were many open tables. My experience overall at the Gashouse was very poor. The waitress told me that some rich person wants that table and they get whatever they want. She asked if I knew who he was. I did not.
