All around bad experience. The woman who took our order was sick and spoke very quietly so she was difficult to understand. There was a man making the sandwiches so I hoped my order would be safe. She ended up helping with the sandwiches but wore gloves so I felt better. Chip options were very minimal and they had no other sides. Not sure if the tables were stained or dirty. Excited to get our sandwiches as the reviews are really good. Sandwiches were loaded with meat but the meat was VERY cheap. Ended up removing half the meat as is did not taste good. The bead was good but soggy. Loved the avocado I added but that's about the only thing I did like. I do not recommend this place as there are much better sandwich places with 2 miles that use quality meats.

Kind of a weird place. The cashier was the first problem, not saying hello or explaining the menu to a first timer. The rest of the decor in the place is quite dated. But, as for the food, the small sandwich was huge, but something just didn't taste right. It looked like fresh meat, but there was way too much and it didn't taste that great. Whoever was making the sandwich still thinks it's 2020 in full covid gear. Must be a locals only place, not for me.

Was out visiting in Apache Junction and came across The Meat Slicer. Just from looking at photos and reading about it, I had to try and I was not disappointed. This massive mammoth of a sandwich came loaded up with Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, Pastrami, Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Mayo and Mustard (*catching my breath). Slapped it in between some French Bread and unhinged the jaw for this epic mess of deliciousness. Not that you can't whip these up at home, Meat Slicer puts the deli touch in it. If you're ever in the town of AJ, give 'em a go. Cheers.

Great sandwich! You can tell the meat (and all ingredients really) is top quality. But, I had to take off one star because of one factor. Now, I don't know if it is because I'm from California, or that I have a pre-existing condition that makes me super cautious during this pandemic, but it was super jarring to see my food get made by someone not wearing a mask. At first, I was trying to accept it...the fact that the young lady who took our order was not wearing a mask was not too bad because the guy in the kitchen had did have one on, and I thought: "that's what matters, right?" But, then, the young lady ended up helping him make our food. And she had her hair down as well, which matters just as much to me because loose hair is super gross to me. We still ate our food and it seemed to be well made and clean. But, 'twas an interesting experience for sure. It's like my boyfriend says, there are many kitchens that prepare our food we don't even get a chance to see, so what are you gonna do?!

found this place on Yelp, decided to give it a try. Came up as "most reviewed" for Apache Junction. A one man show, the service was kind and quick. I ordered the Turkey, Bacon, Avocado large sub. I could finish 1/2 of it & took the rest to go. The sandwiches are stacked tall, no matter how big your face is, it will be a struggle to fit the height of the sandwich in your mouth. The bacon was crisp and tasty. Avocado fresh. The bread was soft & did not fall apart. Good price for the portion size. Large subs come with a small bag of chips. Inside is extremely casual, not very busy and not many seating options. There is a small fee for credit transactions.

Best sandwich shop ever. Don't let the hole in the wall appearance fool you. One sandwich will easily feed at least two. Quality meats and cheeses and a fair price. It will take a while to build your sandwich but the result is worth the wait! read more

We stopped here to grab sandwiches to take with us for a picnic. We sat down to eat them within an hour. I specify that because I don't want you to assume they sat for hours. Less than one hour. This is a very odd "deli." You can't see the food. None of it. There's no meat, cheeses, salads and sandwich fixings you can see to decide if you even want it. So, I order blindly: a tuna salad sandwich. They have to make the tuna salad! Ok, guess it'll taste fresh. I want it on a roll but they have none. He points to three loaves of bread and lists three flavors but they all look pretty much the same. Too soft and nothing crusty or seeded in sight. I guess this must be how we do deli in AZ. I specifically ask for Swiss cheese, jalepenos, and pickles on mine. It's AZ but they don't do jalepenos. Odd. They have pepperincini. Ok. They make my sandwich far away in the back. The sandwiches to go are loosely wrapped in a paper plate like thing and plastic wrap. Not really traveling sandwiches like a sub in butcher paper. An hour later I take it out to eat. It's soaking wet on the bottom. The bottom slice of bread is inedible. It's like they didn't drain the canned tuna...maybe?? Also, there's lots of added mayo, lettuce and tomato that I never requested. And a ton of onions! I like onions but holy crap; I don't think anyone needs to eat half an onion on a sandwich. It was soggy, bland, not what I asked for, and just the oddest most pathetic deli sandwich I've ever had. read more

We are sandwich junkies, found this place on Yelp. We were looking for something to eat on the way home from The Farmers Market. Tiny place in a pretty much desolate strip mall. Just a guy making sandwiches & a girl taking orders. The bread is so fresh it sticks to the roof of your mouth!! The sandwiches are ridiculously packed with meat. I would have liked a little more of the lettuce tomato onions in the middle maybe but by all means a fabulous sandwich!! read more

Phenomenal sandwich. Absolutely phenomenal. If you're visiting Tonto National Forest, and or hiked Flatiron and want a real deal sandwich...it's at Meat Slicer Deli Sandwich. I haven't had an Italian sandwich that stacked and that good since I lived (most of my life) in the NY, NJ, CT tri state area. Thank you Meat Slicer Deli Sandwich for restoring my faith in sandwich establishments AND that there still are REAL sandwich establishments getting it done. read more

We stopped with another couple and they ordered first. They didn't greet us but kept us waiting then the women behind the counter finally walked up the counter almost like she had disgust that she had to take an order. The Owner continued to make other sandwiches in view. My friend requested a BLT (not on the menu but menu states "made to order". The woman says we have turkey, avocado, bacon. My friend asked if they can leave the turkey off and leave the bacon but the woman says, they come with turkey and would not accommodate the request. My friend decided not to get a sandwich but to get the frozen yogurt from the other store. On our order, I skied if there was a bathroom where I could wash my hands and she responded'Mesa'. Well I didn't think she understood me because Mesa is a few miles away. So I asked again and time she snidely said 'next door. So then I asked which direction. So she didn't look up or make eye contact just cocked her head to the direction of the bar next door. So we sat down and waited for the sandwich. When she delivered it, she gave it a frisbee spin toss to the table in front of me then said "enjoy" and whirled and walked away. Now mind you, we did nothing to initiate this. We were nice, not obnoxious rude or anything else deserving of her apparent disdain for us. Maybe our color was the problem? We're white. Maybe she identified us as snowbirds or tourists? Who knows. However, if I needed that business to support my family, I certainly would be more accommodating and be nice. I would give a one star but the sandwich was tasty but I will not be back.. read more

I'm pretty certain I 5 star reviewed this place once before but I guess yelp in all their infinite non-wisdom removes reviews for whatever particular reason. I am definitely a patron of this establishment and I definitely love to drop by and grab me a ridiculously oversized sandwich from this place when I'm on the far far far east side of town. Even Elvis eats here, well he look like Elvis so I'm not sure. But don't let that stop you from enjoying heaven in a sandwich. Check out the pictures that I've posted, you can't go wrong with this place. It's just a sandwich shop and they do have some pretty decent take out and bake yourself pizzas. They have a little bit of a drink selection but nothing major and they do offer a run down selection of potato chips with any sandwich purchase. Try not to be too enthused by the lack of choices because you're there for the meat and cheese party. I wish I was closer to this location because it's sounding enticingly delicious right now and I'm hungry. read more

Ok, who knew you could get a REAL deli sandwich in Apache Junction?? This place is amazing. HAd the pastrami on rye. The bread tastes like fresh baked & real PASTRAMI that was freshly sliced. Such a great little hole in the wall!! Biggest and best sandwich I've had, especially in AJ. All components of the sandwich were obviously fresh and delicious- my mother in law and I shared one and were both stuffed!! The meat was juicy, cheese was creamy and the bread was was super soft with great taste. Will definitely be back!! read more

A lot of food for an amazing price. My husband is a sandwich addict and he loves the quality of meat, cheese and veggies that you get when you come here. Our only gripe is that the bread is essentially pb&j sandwich bread versus a French roll as other sandwich places have. Even with that, we love this place. After the loss of Mining Camp Restaurant, and excluding the excellent Fat Man Pizza, The Meat Slicer remains the only restaurant in Apache Junction that isn't a filthy dump. The owners are wonderful folks with a great attitude, super excellent service and quality sandwiches. There is a single (uncomfortable) plastic table to sit at, if you wish to eat in, but most patrons take home. Been here several times, and will continue! Highly recommended. read more

I started working at Ross across the street and do not know the area well. I asked a couple of the employees a good sandwich shop close by and they raved about me trying The Meat Slicer across the street. I stopped in for lunch one day. Hands down the best sandwich shop I've ever eaten at in the state. Not only are the sandwiches packed with meat and the bread is sooo good too, ( the size of the sandwiches are 2 meals worth of food) I love the staff. They are so friendly and helpful. I don't think I've ever had a real sandwich until I visited here. It was absolutely delicious!! If there were a 10 star review I'd give it to them. read more

This kid from NYC gets humbled at The Meat Slicer. I know I heard it all before....nice sandwich...big sandwich....tasty yadda yadda. Well I tell ya I was floored. I had The Hawaiian, it's a combo of meats and cheeses on a honey whole wheat with mayo pepper and pineapple. The pineapple on the sandwich kicked butt. Very friendly service and if your in the area make it a point to stop by and be wow'd. read more

Huge sandwiches. Fresh meat and cheese. And be prepared to take half of your sandwich home or share it with someone else since they are so big. Kind of off the beaten path place but worth checking out. You get a lot for your money, but they are cash only. ATM on site as well. read more

Went for our first visit tonight. Great sandwiches. Friendly staff. Had the Italian and the turkey Avocado sandwiches and a take home pepperoni pizza. Huge sandwiches, great meats and cheeses. Bread was amazingly fresh. Pizza was only so-so but we will definitely be back for the sandwiches. read more

The best sandwich anywhere. You can split it with someone. It's a very small place ,not much seating ,but the sandwichs are so worth the drive and lack of atmosphere--also no iced drinks. Feel free to bring your own. read more

Oh my God where do I start is it with the delicious Li is soft gigantically thick slices of bread that are clearly Freshly baked for their sandwiches or do I start with the nearly 6" possibly more of pastrami that I had on my sandwich my wife sandwich was incredible as well it did take a little bit to get the food but to their defense they got swarmed all at once and the 2nd person working there didn't show up on time said the poor guy at the counter was left doing everything on his own he was very friendly I will absolutely be back here as this is definitely one of my favorite sandwich joints at this point I love little hole in the wall family owned businesses read more

It almost had more of an Asian texture to it. But it was still good. There was a lot of food, of which I'd expect from a Hawaiian spot. The teriyaki sauce was pretty tasty. It wasn't the best teriyaki sauce I've ever had, but it's a lot better than Ono's Hawaiian BBQ (their chicken teriyaki is trash!). The service was good and fast! The inside was clean and tidy. Was it the best I've ever had? No. But it's good enough to share it with my friends, invite them to go, and go back myself. I'll need to try the chicken katsu and bbq short ribs next time.

As for the sides, the chili was OK, but not something that I would order again. I like chili and was curious. Curiosity satisfied. The corn bread was moist and that middle-of-the-road between sweet and savory that is common in much of Texas (at least the parts I have visited). I like mine a little more sweet, but, like the brisket, I am a believer in getting the texture right first. Be aware if you are a fan of the sweet corn breads.
