All around bad experience. The woman who took our order was sick and spoke very quietly so she was difficult to understand. There was a man making the sandwiches so I hoped my order would be safe. She ended up helping with the sandwiches but wore gloves so I felt better. Chip options were very minimal and they had no other sides. Not sure if the tables were stained or dirty. Excited to get our sandwiches as the reviews are really good. Sandwiches were loaded with meat but the meat was VERY cheap. Ended up removing half the meat as is did not taste good. The bead was good but soggy. Loved the avocado I added but that's about the only thing I did like. I do not recommend this place as there are much better sandwich places with 2 miles that use quality meats.

Kind of a weird place. The cashier was the first problem, not saying hello or explaining the menu to a first timer. The rest of the decor in the place is quite dated. But, as for the food, the small sandwich was huge, but something just didn't taste right. It looked like fresh meat, but there was way too much and it didn't taste that great. Whoever was making the sandwich still thinks it's 2020 in full covid gear. Must be a locals only place, not for me.

Was out visiting in Apache Junction and came across The Meat Slicer. Just from looking at photos and reading about it, I had to try and I was not disappointed. This massive mammoth of a sandwich came loaded up with Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, Pastrami, Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Mayo and Mustard (*catching my breath). Slapped it in between some French Bread and unhinged the jaw for this epic mess of deliciousness. Not that you can't whip these up at home, Meat Slicer puts the deli touch in it. If you're ever in the town of AJ, give 'em a go. Cheers.

Great sandwich! You can tell the meat (and all ingredients really) is top quality. But, I had to take off one star because of one factor. Now, I don't know if it is because I'm from California, or that I have a pre-existing condition that makes me super cautious during this pandemic, but it was super jarring to see my food get made by someone not wearing a mask. At first, I was trying to accept it...the fact that the young lady who took our order was not wearing a mask was not too bad because the guy in the kitchen had did have one on, and I thought: "that's what matters, right?" But, then, the young lady ended up helping him make our food. And she had her hair down as well, which matters just as much to me because loose hair is super gross to me. We still ate our food and it seemed to be well made and clean. But, 'twas an interesting experience for sure. It's like my boyfriend says, there are many kitchens that prepare our food we don't even get a chance to see, so what are you gonna do?!

found this place on Yelp, decided to give it a try. Came up as "most reviewed" for Apache Junction. A one man show, the service was kind and quick. I ordered the Turkey, Bacon, Avocado large sub. I could finish 1/2 of it & took the rest to go. The sandwiches are stacked tall, no matter how big your face is, it will be a struggle to fit the height of the sandwich in your mouth. The bacon was crisp and tasty. Avocado fresh. The bread was soft & did not fall apart. Good price for the portion size. Large subs come with a small bag of chips. Inside is extremely casual, not very busy and not many seating options. There is a small fee for credit transactions.

This local deli was our first vacation stop on our way to hike Flatiron. It is in an older mall but well signed. Since it is popular with local residents who call in their orders, we waited a few minutes for our order. It is worth it if you love meat, inches of meat. The sandwich is the focus here - the accompanying bag of chips is small but the sandwiches are ginormous! read more

I highly recommend this deli. It is located in what seems to be a very old strip mall so don't judge a book by its cover. The staff is extremely friendly from the moment you walk in and their sandwiches are delicious, huge and priced well. The meat is fresh and their bread is freshly baked in house. I had the Italian sub and I'd do it again. The owner is very personable. He came out from behind to chat with us about our sandwiches. This is the type of place I'll continue to support! read more

Oh my God where do I start is it with the delicious Li is soft gigantically thick slices of bread that are clearly Freshly baked for their sandwiches or do I start with the nearly 6" possibly more of pastrami that I had on my sandwich my wife sandwich was incredible as well it did take a little bit to get the food but to their defense they got swarmed all at once and the 2nd person working there didn't show up on time said the poor guy at the counter was left doing everything on his own he was very friendly I will absolutely be back here as this is definitely one of my favorite sandwich joints at this point I love little hole in the wall family owned businesses read more

This place is The Bomb! I recently moved to the area and knew I was going to need lunch to feed 3 men that were coming to help me in a few days. I came to Yelp to find a restaurant and The Meat Slicer was a HUGE hit! I called ahead in the morning and placed an order for 4 sandwiches to be picked up at noon. One of the guys went and picked up the order and said he would go back just because the people working there were incredible nice! Then we sat down to eat these HUGE sandwiches (which were all made correctly)... I managed 1/4 of mine, the men each ate half of theirs; delighted they would have leftovers for later :) It's been less than 2 weeks, and we can't wait to go back! I was not impressed with appearance of this hole in the wall restaurant, but I couldn't wait to try the sandwiches that I saw advertised on yelp, so I ordered the slicer it was a fabulous sandwich full of fresh cold cuts and on homemade bread, it was delicious... Fresh homemade bread, premium meats and cheeses and portions big enough to share, this was a great find! My husband and I split the turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich, it was delicious and we could barely finish after splitting. Beyond being piled high with fresh sliced turkey, it was loaded with three different kinds of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and thin sliced onion. The meat slicer is a winner, we will be back. read more

This place was such a wonderful find. The sandwiches were enough for 2 meals, so much meat, cheese, etc.. and the bread is the greatest. We have eaten several times at a place in Indio, CA that has been named the best deli in the USA!! This place beats TKB Bakery all to hell!! Sure wished we lived here so we could come back. The only problem is the seating, 1 table inside and a few outside but the tablecloths need to be replaced... read more

Wow! I was BLOWN AWAY by this place! I wanted to get a good sandwich after my hike and stumbled across this gem. Thick sliced meat and cheese stacked super high! They make their own bread which is also amazing. To top it off the owner was super friendly and loves his family business, which I believe is the key to really great food. I will definitely be making this a routine stop after my hikes! read more

Been there only once. Bang for buck is rediculous! Wanted a Reuben sandwich which he didn't have in the menu. He went over and beyond and concocted one as close as he could! Great sandwich! I took all four of my kids there and my wife and not a single complaint! ( Rare) they all loved it and each sandwich was two sittings! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

The owner of this place is so nice and welcoming, sandwich was super rich with fresh deli meats, truly an amazing sandwich all around. Awesome small family owned business. Should relocate to a more popular plaza or at minimum a nice remodel with better curb appeal/attention grabbing signs. read more

I'm so glad people have been reviewing this place because I have been meaning to yelp about The Meat Slicer since last year. Epic sammies. Just like your mom made. Thick hand sliced bread, mayo, onions, meats, lettuce. I used to say my friend Lois made the best sammies, but when I moved here, I declared Lois was no longer the queen after my first bite. Don't be deterred by a 10 dollar sandwich. We always share one and feel completely satiated. read more

I had heard about this deli and thought I would give it a try. Absolutely will visit them again. I can't remember the name of the sandwich I got but it was the biggest deli sandwich I have ever gotten. It had every meat the deli offers and tons of it. This sandwich had enough meat in it for at least 3 more sandwiches , all the veggies and it came on thick homemade sourdough bread. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. When looking for a great deli sandwich go to the Meat Slicer Deli. read more

The only bad thing about this place is that I drove past it for over a year before stopping in. The owners were friendly and we were looking for a quick place we could sit outside with my parents and dog so I figured we would give it a try. The bread was soft , thick, and delicious and you can easily share one sandwich. Everything was fresh and tasted great. There's nothing fancy about this place but it had great service and even better sandwiches. I'm looking forward to stopping back this winter to test out their clam chowder on a Friday. Everyone that was there was mentioning to the owners how they are stopping back for sure and that includes us. read more

Bar none the biggest sandwich I have ever had and the owner is willing to make it bigger. They also have take home pizzas which they also pile on the ingredients. Word of caution...ask them to slice the bread thinner, otherwise you will not get your mouth around it. Get the small sandwich. When I get the regular sandwich I end up taking half home. This is a total hole in the wall but worth it. I am downgrading for really no indoor seating. read more

I found them by looking for the best places to eat and they are the best place to eat. I loved over and hour and half away. To be honest I have not had a sandwich this good since New York!!! Cash only. Strike one. Sign that says open....it's closed. Strike two. Hours of operation posted in the window and it says they don't close until 730 pm....it's 7 pm and they're closed. Strike three. You want people to come and to give good reviews??? Maybe try to be open when your sign says that you are/or should be. Won't waste my time trying this again. I understand it's a small mom n pop type place, but simple follow through means a great deal. If you have posted hours, you stick to those hours. As someone that isn't a local, when I find a place online (because I'm looking at reviews), basic available info should be accurate (food, location, hours and, yes, cash only). read more

Flat out AWESOME sandwiches! The service is amazing, the owner is a very nice man! Very first words out of my dad's mouth were..."you definitely don't look at this sandwich and ask 'where's the beef?'" Literally 4-5" of MEAT....not lettuce or other fillers, actual meat. The meat slicer did a birthday tray for my sons party. They told me it would feed at least 15 people. The amount of food was unbelievable no one went hungry and we still had lots leftover for later. The food is so good if you are looking lunch or party trays you can't beat their wonderful food. read more

So I trecked 5 miles out of my way to Goldman's (when Chompie's was just a mile away --frankly I don't know why I didn't think about chompies) I ordered the chopped chicken liver appetizer which comes with slices of tomato, a piece of lettuce, slice of red onion, and challah bread. I paid $15.01 for this platter (lol) without a tip for a small scoop of the liver. Just look at the photo. I was shocked to see how small it was. I thought that with a base price of $13.99 that the scoop would be bigger or at least the same size as in the past when it was $9.99. The challah bread was yellow but did not take like challah. Yellow bread slices do not delicious challah bread make--no yeasty flavor as any good challah would have. So here I am regretting that I didn't give chompie's a try. I can assure you that I will not be returning to Goldman's. I know ingredients have gone up but this price for such a small scoop is an affront to the wallet.

The sfogliatella and cannoli were great, and so were the ladies behind the counter, warm, lively, and actually happy to be there. Look, I'm goin' back to Romanelli's. I'll even pay another $24 for a sandwich. There's a reason this place has been there for decades, and they deserve another shot.
