Ned's Krazy Sub has been a north Mesa staple for decades--since 1977, in fact. Part of the charm is that it still feels like the same shop making the same kind of sandwiches it always has. These are the kind of subs you'd get if your uncle happened to make awesome sub sandwiches. Nothing fancy. No weird artificial flavors or textures. Just good, honest subs made by people who seem to care about what they're putting together. This part of Mesa is starting to age, and places like this are exactly why you still want to stop in. It's a genuinely good place to catch a "samich", especially if you want something local instead of corporate. Their tuna sub is truly one of the best tuna sandwiches around. My husband grew up with this particular Ned's so anytime we're in the area, I know what we're having for dinner. I typically go for the meatball sub and he gets the club. The service is always really quick and since it's a small shop, you can look around and browse before picking up your food. They have a decent chip selection as well to go with the subs and my go-to is always jalapeño kettle chips. Great neighborhood sub shop that doesn't disappoint. Next time I'll get photos! read more

The longest family runs up place in the city of Mesa. The family atmosphere and the quick service and the delicious subs draw you in every time. I know a lot of people are unsure of their feelings about having young teenagers or young people working register. But Ned's sub-employees a lot of teenagers in the neighborhood and supports the community. Well, my order was messed up on all three of my sandwiches, and did not include the cookie that was paid for. I did call and let them know of these issues. The girl working was very nice and offered to remake the sandwiches. I declined and said I'll come back later for my cookie. When picking up my cookie, she apologized and offered again to remake or provide all the toppings that were missing ( it wasn't her fault), it was the order takers lack of attention when ordering. To help make it right, I did ask that they make a sandwich for the poor homeless lady sitting outside. They tried to make it right, and that's all I could ask for. My husband has been a Ned's customer for nearly 30 years. It was once a decent sub! Over the past few years it has consistently declined to the point where he will never return. Today, upon entering, all he heard was 3 teenage girls talking like sailors. One of the girls took his order and came back 8 minutes later with a sandwich that had everything on it that he said he didn't want and gave him an 8 inch when he paid for a foot long. After arguing with him about the ingredients and size, they agreed to make up the difference by making him a small sandwich, however still dripping with pickle juice and refused to fix any of it. His suggestion- keep driving to the next sandwich shop. This place has gone to the dump. read more

I love Ned's crazy subs. They have great combo orders for less than $12. They have root beer ice cream. And root beer for root beer floats. They have different chips to choose from they usually add a nice kosher dill pickle to your order you can get it toasted warm or cold. Very lucky to say that I knew Ned for many years and his sub recipe always spanks hard! Fresh ingredients, perfect bread. The flavor combos are clean 10/10s. The staff are always super nice. Came in on Saturday 7/23 at around noon got my sub and my wife got hers, unfortunately there was a hair in her sub, she returned it and Asked if they could remake it, and instead of remaking it they cut in half and gave it back to her, she then gave it back to them and didn't asked for anything as she had lost her appetite mainly because of the less than friendly and poor response she got from the young lady at the front counter. read more

A group of four of us came in 30 mins before closing on a Thursday night. We ordered and were asked if we were dining in. When we said yes, the teenage boy said annoyed, "you're dining in?" We again said "yes, we'll hurry." The girl in the back was talking loud enough so we could hear and said, " are they really eating here?" Multiple times. When our food came out 2 of the 4 orders were wrong plus they forgot our potato salad. We were told, "if that's how it came out that's how you ordered it." We didn't complain/argue, we just ate quickly so we could be out before closing time. As we were walking out, NOT EVEN OUT OF THE DOOR YET they turned off the lights. (With 5 minutes to go before closing) just to prove a point to us. Ned's used to be our favorite sandwich shop while in high school but it's definitely not the same. Won't be returning. read more

I got to meet Ned! He's 73 and still working behind the counter. I also got to hear all about the history of his store.... and how they've been around in Mesa since the 70's (although not in the current location that whole time). The sandwiches are sandwiches... about what you would expect from any sub place-- a nice selection of options, white or wheat bread, and quickly made. I usually go to the Krazy Sub location on Country Club where they actually listen and get your sandwich right. I go to the Gilbert rd location yesterday, order the same sandwich I always order a 12' torpedo toasted on white bread with extra oil. The girl said we'll serve that to you hot, I'm like ok (guess they don't have toasting capabilities here). What I received was a cold sandwich not hot at all, double mayo, no oil. I should've sent it back, but was in a hurry. What I received just wasn't good. I'm realizing that Steve's Krazy Sub and Ned's Krazy Sub aren't exactly the same. I'll definitely go back to where I know it's good, but not thinking I'll return to this location, disappointing is an understatement. read more

Stopped into Ned's Krazy Sub's during a lunch break and enjoyed the place. It is a small shop in Mesa and a great place to grab a sub. We even got to see Ned still working behind the counter! The menu has a long list of your standard sub types to choose from on white or wheat bread and either eight or 12 inches. They have their standard toppings but you can add or remove whatever you'd like. After ordering, it doesn't take too long to have your sub up and ready. The subs are pretty good! They come wrapped with a large pickle slice so if you don't like pickles, be sure to let them know in advance! The sandwich was nothing special but was flavorful and packed with good ingredients. I'd choose Ned's over your typical subway or home made sandwich any day! Pricing here was decent as well! Overall, Ned's appears to be quite the long lived tradition and staple in the Mesa area. Ned still works behind the counter serving up quality, great tasting subs. Pricing is good for what you are getting and it exceeds the standard by most other sub places. I've been coming here for ad long as I can remember. It's always clean, sandwiches are aways great, and best of all, it's local. I will always choose this place over basically any other sandwich place. It's very affordable and you know you're getting the real deal. My go-tos are the pizza boat and Krazy classic.
