Thai Iced Tea, Vietnamese coffee @ Pistachio Croissant
    Almond-Joi B.

Driving back from paddle boarding at Canyon Lake and told my boyfriend we had to find a coffee shop. Fortunately, Bak Jo was on the list and holy cow I'm happy it was. We got the Thai Iced Tea, Vietnamese coffee & a pistachio croissant, all were delicious! Not to be dramatic, but I'm still having dreams about the croissant Wish we had more time to hang out and take advantage of the games and fun like quirky things to do in the shop. Will definitely be back(:

If you're on your way to shop at Hmart or Mekong, you have to make a stop at Bak & Jo. It sits alongside a thrift store. Hubs and I came here on a Saturday morning and it wasn't busy. There are many food and drink options to choose from. I ordered a banh mi sandwich with their pork belly and my husband ordered their breakfast sandwich with bacon. Both were prepared in their freshly baked baguettes. Although the pork belly was a bit salty for my taste, I still enjoyed my meal. The Thai tea is on the milkier side but delicious. The ambiance is very inviting and clean. I appreciated the games available for groups and kids to play with. The prices are also very reasonable. We left full and happy. We will definitely be back!

Iced latte with brown sugar syrup, matcha, fruity pebble and matcha yuzu macarons

The service here was absolutely amazing, both of the people working were so kind and helpful! The coffee and matcha were also delicious and made with care! We were in town celebrating and they gave us macarons to say congratulations which was so thoughtful! Cannot wait to come back next time I'm in town.

Iced chai latte and breakfast burrito

I ordered the matcha latte with their house made mint syrup and their strawberry cream cheese croissant. My husband ordered the chai latte with a breakfast burrito. We agreed they were exquisite. The staff was super nice and attentive. The place is pretty big and very clean! We also appreciated that they are open at 7am on Sunday unlike many other coffee shops. Will definitely be back!

Love their matcha! I got it with rose syrup one time and it was good. I like to come here when I go to the antique mall next door. They also have multiple baked goods to choose from as well.

This is a great little hangout spot. I love that there are tons of board games, pin trading, and casual lounging. During this visit I had a Vietnamese coffee, which was strong and sweet. The pistachio and hazelnut croissants were delicious (obviously since I couldn't get a picture before digging in) and served warm. I have been here just a couple times, so I was having a hard time deciding between some drinks. The gentleman at the register offered a few great suggestions. The people here are so friendly!

I love Bak & Jo. I believe the worker's name is Sou, and she is always so sweet. She's always welcoming me in and making my drinks absolutely amazing. The banana bread matcha is my new obsession, and I've been ordering it every time lately. I recommend you get it with oat milk because it makes it taste creamier and is soo soo good!! I also love getting some work done there. The space is very spacious, and the music is at the perfect volume - not too loud. I also saw that they were awarded one of Yelp's Top Places to Eat, which is so well deserved! Definitely recommend!

The service here was exceptional. Jo himself helped us and explained the menu and highlighted his favorites. I noticed several nods to Yelp nominations posted near the register, including something about Yelp Elites loving this place. Jo helped us decide what to order, and we landed on the Banana Bread Matcha (the homemade banana syrup was delicious but the matcha was still quite overpowering and earthy) and the Vietnamese Coffee (very strong but we got half sweet so that might be our fault). We also got a chocolate chip cookie sandwich from a separate baker whose goods they carry. When we got our order, Jo gave us a peppermint "smackaron" on the house. There was a couple lounging on the sofa inside, kids playing with some toys in their little play area, and people working from various tables. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy themselves.

Had to find a coffee shop to work at and stumbled upon Bak and Jo when my standard shop closed early. I'm not sad about it. This spot is a clean, classic, welcoming space for people to enjoy good coffee, pastries, and each other. I ordered an iced vietnamese coffee. It was a perfect balance of a delicate sweetness by the strength of the coffee. I wished I ordered a pastry. They have a pistachio crossiant that was trying to lure me through the display case. The staff are friendly and our order came very quickly. This may be my new spot to work at.

I've had nothing but good food, good coffee, and good vibes from Bak & Jo! The shop has a very chill, inviting atmosphere and the selections here for food and drink are always appealing. There is no extra charge for alternative milks and there are good vegetarian and vegan options available. The tofu scramble is excellent, as well as the mint latte. You can definitely taste the house-made mint syrup and the coffee is super smooth. The tofu scramble has just the right amount of seasoning and you won't miss the egg at all in this breakfast dish. Service has always been very welcoming and friendly. There are several tables available for indoor dining and along the wall there is often local art for sale.

Super friendly atmosphere, great selection of fresh food and great ingredients. The fresh best cookies and pastries!! We had a wonderful time with games for the whole family. We're from CA and hope to be back when we are in town. Thank you for great hospitality!!

Butterfly pea strawberry lemonade and oreo/ube macron
    Teresa A.

The butterfly pea strawberry berry lemonade is so pretty and I felt like I was magical when mixing it making it a pretty pink purple color! 10/10 recommend this lemonade. I would get it again for sure. The employees are really nice and helpful when trying to make a decision. The macrons are super cute and tasty and my friend and I shared a blueberry muffin and it tasted so buttery good warm. Thanks for a great experience!

    Banana Bread Matcha

Really cute spot! I had the Banana Bread Matcha and it was delicious! There are also antique shops right next door that are really neat! Definitely will be coming back (:

I opted for the Ham and cheese croissant, and the sausage croissant. Both breading was fantastic. Good flavor, airy yet crispy, just really well made. I will definitely come back for the ham and cheese croissant. The sausage croissant wasn't really for me (the bread was) it truly is a big sausage in there. It had good flavor, just isn't for me. If they could make just a plain cheese or bacon and cheese that would hit the spot lol We also got their regular cinnamon roll. The breading had a lovely sweet cinnamon flavor and the icing on top had a delicious creamy taste without being overly sweet. The odd part for us was the filling in the inside. I couldn't decide if I cared for it or not, I was almost feeling it was pushing the sweetness over just a bit so l may or may not get that again. Even tho they have seating inside, it feels more like a grab and go. You can def enjoy your item there. But I wouldn't say a spot where you can sit and catch up with a Friend or read a book. It also felt a bit too warm and stuffy so cranking down the AC a bit would help it feel more inviting especially from coming outside from the Arizona heat. I like to enjoy a warm beverage with my dessert and I couldn't imagine doing it in there. We opted to eat in our car Service was friendly and patient. I know they're vegetarian, but I wanted to double check with her. She responds as "vegetarian means no meat, right"? All employees working at a food establishment should know what vegetarian means. This was quite baffling to hear. I asked her for a new slice because the one that was out on display was visibly burned and the other slice was touching pepperoni from the meat pizza. As mentioned, I'm a vegetarian. Therefore, I could not have either one of those slices. She proceeds to say that's how the pizzas are. They are slightly burned because they are so sourdough. While I can accept this answer, I do not accept the fact that she would not be willing to give me another slice as a paying customer. She insensitively said she can't give me a new one until all the old slices are taken up. She mentioned that this is their procedure. According to this, they are saying that they will not provide a proper product unless the old, damaged product, or unacceptable by the customer is used up first. If this is their business model, then it is apparent they do not value customer service. This business should have the competence to understand that if they want to sell a product, they cannot sell it in a condition that the customer is not satisfied with. Most importantly, being a vegetarian, they should have the sensitivity to understand that if a slice is touching the meat product then they cannot consume it. And again, the employee completely disregarded my health and religious beliefs by not accommodating me. You usually won't encounter problems when you're just trying to buy bread. However, it reflects on the business's employees greatly when there is a problem and they do not value customer service by resolving or accommodating the customer's satisfaction. I will be switching to Noble exclusively. Especially since it's so readily available at the farmers markets and stores.
