We ordered a few different things to give a fair review, and honestly overall this place is just ok. Not horrible, just not that great. We had.. *sausage roll * ham and Swiss *cinnamon roll (regular) *cookies and cream cup cake *raspberry pop tart *chocolate chip cookie Sausage roll pastry dough was good, but the meat inside was not very flavorful. Ham and Swiss, the ham was just a single thin slice of deli meat. The cinnamon roll also missing something... maybe more sugar and better quality cinnamon? Perhaps salt in the dough? I'm not sure how they prepare theirs but definitely looked better than it tasted. Raspberry pop tart was my favorite item! Husband had no complaints on the cupcake. read more

Yum! I love this place. They have so much variety and their treats are delicious. Make sure to follow them on Instagram, sometimes they sell leftovers at a discounted price (25$ for a HUGE box) and it's may favorite way to treat myself. They have such nice workers and I love getting a treat here and coffee across the street. read more

I love the great Gatsby so much! Every time I have called, the ladies answering the phone are so polite and excited to help me. I have placed several orders to pick up for events and every time the cupcakes come out perfect! They were even willing to use some decorations I had bought and placed them on the cupcakes to match the theme of the party. On a Separate event, they made cupcakes that were not their main menu to accommodate a request. I've tried a couple of their other offerings, including cinnamon rolls and a couple savory items and they were all amazing. I'm at the owner once since she told me a little bit about her recipes and the origins of her offerings. She didn't even tell me she was the owner and was very modest and humble. My only suggestion for improvement would be to each offer a couple gluten free options. I know it's not traditional and they never come out as good as original but it's the day and age that we live in and it would be great if The Great Gatsby Bakery would be willing to offer a supply to the demand and stop referring customers to another bakery in town that really doesn't deliver quality comparable to The Great Gadsby. read more

REVIEW FOR THE LEFTOVERS SURPRISE BOX: Great Gadsby is open Thursday-Sunday. If there are leftover pastries from Sunday's bake, they will offer surprise boxes on Monday with 8 items for $20. I recommend following them on Instagram because they'll post on their Instagram story on Monday morning if any boxes are available, when the pickup window/timeframe is, and how to reserve one via text message. The boxes are prepackaged, so you don't know what you're going to get. If you don't have any food allergies, I say go for it! Mondays usually aren't a convenient day for me, but I had the day off recently and took advantage of it. The pickup was easy - park by the back entrance and text the number that you're there. Someone will come out with a surprise box and collect your payment (card or exact cash). My surprise box contained the following in order of my favorite to least favorite: Mini Pumpkin Cheesecake Mini Key Lime Pie Vanilla Cupcake Red Velvet Cupcake Cookie Butter Cupcake Birthday Cake Cupcake Salted Caramel Brownie Almond Tart (not sure what the actual name is) The texture of the pumpkin cheesecake was perfect, not dense like most cheesecakes I've tried elsewhere. Key Lime Pie had a nice balance of sweet and sour. The Vanilla and Red Velvet cupcakes were fluffy and tasted so fresh! Cookie Butter flavor was good and very sweet. The muffin top had a nice crunch, maybe from the sugars caramelizing. Birthday Cake was a little dry and dense but had good flavor. The brownie was so thick and decadent - it was hard to cut into after being refrigerated. I don't care for caramel, but I think a salted caramel and chocolate lover would enjoy it. The texture of the almond tart was not at all what I expected - it seemed like a really sweet almond paste. It also had a little bit of a berry jam in the center which was a nice surprise, but the overall texture and taste did not work for me. This was a great opportunity to try items that I hadn't tried before and makes me excited to come back for more, especially for the pumpkin cheesecake! read more

Went here on a Sunday around 2 pm. Parking was plentiful and the bakery wasn't busy at all. Originally came in for the cookie butter cupcake but they were already sold out so we got a Banoffee Mini Cake and a Maple Cinnamon Bun. The Banoffee was good but the toffee on the bottom was a little too sweet for my liking. The Maple Cinnamon Bun was my absolute favorite. I love maple donuts so the maple drizzle on top was soo good. Been here multiple times and love the variety of desserts and pastries they have! I love the salted caramel brownie and usually get that when it's available. But we recently tried the strawberry chouxbuns (they are so pretty! I think these are great for people who don't like super sweet desserts. These tasted very light with a subtle strawberry flavor). We also tried the chocolate cream mini pie (also subtle flavor, the cream tasted so good!), the strawberry pop tart (the pop tarts are always great), and the peanut butter mousse cupcake (this was my favorite!). We stopped by here because I heard they had $1 million bar and I've always wanted to try one after seeing it on the British Baking Show. We got two of them to go along with two of the chocolate salted caramel brownie. We cut them in the third as they're pretty long so that five of us could sample them. Nestled within the shopping center, you will find this in a strip of businesses. Parking can be a little difficult if you go during peak times for the surrounding businesses as this bakery seems more of a grab-and-go versus a lounge around location. During our visit on a warm summer Saturday afternoon, we had no problem finding parking. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by friendly staff who were very kind to speak on safe options for my peanut and tree nut allergy. Always amazing to be able to have a safe sweet treat and so glad my friend suggested this place! She mentioned they have sausage rolls, but I tend to remain meat free and didn't see a vegetarian one. I do miss a good Greggs vegan sausage roll. Maybe something they can offer in the future? If they do, please ring me as I'll be the first to make a visit! Plus tell all my vegetarian friends, family, and coworkers to check it out. For my sweet treat, I went with the European Tart as the combination of chocolate and caramel in a tart sounded divine. The Great Gatsby Bakery had been on my list for months, and last weekend I was finally able to stop by. What an incredible spot. I had been following them on social media for a while so I thought I knew what I was getting into, but I truly had no idea. The bakery has so many treats available, it was hard to make a decision! I ended up going with the strawberry pop tart and the almond croissant. It's one of the best almond croissants I've ever had in my life. Definitely on par with what you find in Europe, super flaky, light, and buttery. The flavor of the almond paste was delicious. The pop tart was also incredible. It was so flaky with just the perfect amount of sweetness and the jam tasted super fresh. I will definitely be back in to try other desserts. The staff were super friendly. It's a pretty small storefront, but they do have a couple tables and chairs you can sit at. Parking can be a little bit tricky during busier times. you'll find up you might just have to walk. The Great Gadbsy Bakery always bakes my day! This amazing little bakery is located in Gilbert Town Square. There's plenty of parking, especially behind the building. The space isn't large, but offers ample seating. I make a point to stop by if I'm in the area, especially since it's not very close to me. I've been a few times now and it hits the spot everytime! The service is always excellent. The first time I went I met the owner who was absolutely wonderful and passionate about their delicious pastries (as she should!). The last person who helped me was so pleasant and helpful. I left the bakery feeling good. I've honestly loved every single item I've tried. The coconut mini pie and the banoffee mini pie were a little stingy with the fillings (which were very tasty) and way too heavy on the whipped cream topping. I'm going to make a bold statement: they make the best cinnamon roll in the valley. It's true! Every part of the roll is soft, cinnamon-y and moist. There is no trudging through the outer layer to get to the good part. It's all good. I also tried a fruit tart and the cream was light, fluffy and not too sweet. There is really not another bakery of this caliber for several miles of here so it is so surprise they have been around since 2007. I had really high hopes for this place, but to be honest, not everything there is worth trying. My first visit I tried the Paris Brest as well as a s'mores filled tart. The Paris Brest was SO good. The texture and flavor were similar to French bakeries I had on the Las Vegas strip. Although the tart crust was delicious, the filling was just way too sweet and the meringue was more like marshmallow crème. Because the Paris Brest was so good I decided to come back a second time on a Thursday. The selection was really limited this time so I picked a brownie and a cupcake. After driving up from Florence with the wife at about noon on a Saturday we were so disappointed when we got there. They may have been busy in the morning and sold a lot of stuff but they still didn't close for several hours so I didn't understand why they had about two different kinds of cupcakes, which were all sad looking, and no cinnamon rolls. There were a few brownies available and three employees standing around, and all I could think was 'well that was a waste of time' as I said to the wife how about driving over to Nothing Bundt Cakes. I would take a banoffee pie for my birthday treat over cake any day. And y'know what? Not a lot of places sell this amazing English treat. "What is banoffee," you might ask. It's essentially a gussied up banana cream pie. It has the bananas, the whipped cream, caramel/toffee/dulce de leche (depending what bakery is making it), and chocolate with sometimes the addition of coffee. I'm not the biggest sweets person but let me tell you this: put some banoffee pie in front of me and I'll go crazy. After a week of telling people about this great pie, I had to find some. Enter: The Great Gadsby Bakery. This amazing bakery is a family-run European bakery founded in London, England, and now located in Gilbert, AZ. They have cookies, cupcakes, tarts, pies, sausage rolls, and other delicious treats. On the evening I went, since inventory was low and they were in the last hour before closing, everything was 50% off. I ended up buying more than I originally would but how could I not? I picked up a pop tart, a European tart, a coconut cream pie, and... THE LAST BANOFFEE PIE! The guy behind me was upset. If he wanted the coconut cream pie, I would have given it to him but there was no way I was going to give up the banoffee. NEVER EVER EVER! I was floating on Cloud Nine from the first bite until the final bite. The same goes with the pop tart and coconut cream pie. The generous portion of marshmallow on top of the European tart was a bit much for me though. I love that everything here is an individualized portion so it makes portion control easier. The sweet treats here are great. The lady packing the goodies with the amazing peach-colored hair was lovely and friendly and we both shared for a moment and made many comments on how banoffee pie is the superior pie.
