I had an incredible experience here the other morning and just felt the need to give a shout out to the awesome cashier!! They had a promo going for a "free" mug with a $25 purchase. The mug was really cool and AZ themed, so I had to get it. I picked out some of the cake slices as well as some baked goods! I also ordered the Vietnamese coffee drink and added sea salt and brown sugar. It was delicious but definitely on the sweeter side. I think I would skip the brown sugar next time. When I arrived, they were out of the Berry Tales on the floor which are my favorite. I asked if they had any made in the back and it turns out they'd recently made a fresh batch and were letting them cool. Assunta got me a couple of those and then helped ring up my order. She was very very nice and gave me an extra slice of cake. When I mentioned they were for a birthday, she also gave me some candles and birthday chocolates to put on top. This was my first visit to 85°C Bakery Cafe in Chandler, and I was genuinely impressed. Walking in for the first time, it was so much fun seeing the huge variety of baked goods, breads, pastries, sandwiches, desserts, and drinks they had to offer. I really liked the self-serve bakery concept because it lets you browse at your own pace and pick out whatever catches your eye. They have a great mix of both sweet and savory items, along with an extensive drink menu featuring both hot and cold beverages, so there's truly something for everyone no matter what you're craving. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and flavorful. The pastries were light and delicious, and the drinks paired perfectly with the food. You can definitely tell they take pride in the quality of what they serve. The only thing I'd mention is that they don't accept American Express. It wasn't an issue for me since I had another payment method, but it's something to keep in mind before visiting. I loved 85c when I visited the one in Orange County but was slightly disappointed by this location: slow to make your drink and not as much selection of pastries. Located right next to 99 ranch and other Asian stores, 85c has Asian pastries, cookies, breads and drinks. We enjoyed a few baos with cream filling, a slice of coffee cake and the black milk tea. I usually don't get chocolatey things at Asian bakeries because they rarely "do" chocolate well, and it was the same here: the chocolate chip cookie and black forest cake were only okay and just not rich enough with a cocoa taste. Sign up for their rewards program to get discounts and promotions, even though you have to buy quite a bit to get anything and the points expire. Compared to non-Asian bakeries, everything is a much more reasonable price overall. A few tables are available, though I can imagine it being crowded. This was my second visit in about two months to this place, as it offers an alternative to a traditional coffee shop meeting spot, and it's easily accessible for people in the north and southeast valley to do its proximity to the 101 freeway. They offer a wide variety of Boba style drinks, along with a bunch of sweet and savory bakery items. Everything I've tried so far has been really good there and they are open to modifications to certain drinks. All of the bakes are prepackaged so you pick what you want and go to the cashier. The drinks are made fresh to order and only take a few minutes even when they're very busy. They're only a few small tables to sit at and it's kind of a loud environment. I loveee 85° - one of my favorite bakeries and I am so happy it exists in AZ. One of my all times faves is the spinach danish and the hot dog bread. I always get those two and everything else is based off of what I am craving and what looks good. All of the pastries we got this time were super delicious. I especially liked the mochi egg tarts. It was a good chewy consistency and was not overly sweet. A lot of their pastries is perfectly balanced - not too sweet. You grab a tray and tongs to pick up the pastries. All their pastries are already pre-wrapped. Their drinks are also really good too. I like their lychee green milk tea. I popped in on my lunch break and grabbed: *Ham & Cheese Sandwich - Ham, egg, and Swiss cheese in a crispy puff pastry. Not bad, but there was an unexpected sauce that threw me off a bit. Probably wouldn't get it again. *White Chocolate Strawberry - Soft, strawberry-flavored bread filled with white chocolate and strawberry custard cream. Bread was fluffy, custard was decent. *Mango Strawberry Smoothie - My absolute favorite here! Strawberry purée and mango syrup blended with ice cream, topped with crushed strawberries. Finally got to check this spot out and it didn't disappoint. There is such a huge variety of pastries along the checkout line, and you can grab a basket or tray to load it up with everything you want to try out as you wait to checkout. They also have a refrigerated case and cakes/desserts available, as well as Boba teas/smoothies/drinks. I got the mango custard roll, the chocolate croissant, the guava pastry, and the ham & cheese roll for the hubby. I've never had this type of dough before and it was light and airy, and the center was packed with custard (for the mango custard roll). The custard was delicious and not too sweet. The chocolate croissant was flaky & perfectly baked, and the guava pastry hit the spot reminding me of some of my favorite Colombian pastries. This is a great little Asian bakery! I have been here several times and tried a variety of things. There are many options of sweet and savory baked goods. The breads are always soft and delicious. Some of my favorites are the jalapeño cream cheese, the bacon and cheese, the chocolate croissant, and the coconut twist. They have a good selection of cakes and I've tried a couple. The cakes are good but again this is an Asian bakery so they are different than what we would consider traditional. They serve a number of different drinks, but I haven't tried any of them. The lines can get pretty long so I try to hit it shortly after it opens in the morning. The service is quick though, if there is a line. This place is a hidden gem! Tucked away in a plaza with a lot of other Asian cuisine and shopping, this bakery definitely needs more locations in the valley! The entire process of walking In, grabbing a tray, and loading it up with whatever you want is such a genius design and really streamlines the experience. They had a lot of options of breads, cookies, pastries, you name it. We went on a Monday morning (St. Patrick's Day to be exact) and our only gripe was that there were a lot of empty shelves, but we were still able to walk away with a haul. It was probably because it was a Monday morning where a lot of their cakes weren't stocked at all, which is a bummer because we were looking forward to getting some single cake slices. Alas, we still grabbed whatever looked good to us, which was: the berrytale puff, chocolate chip bowl, milk pudding puff, red bean bread, white chocolate strawberry puff, and the jalapeño cream cheese bread. Everything was IMMACULATE. We were blown away by how soft the bread was; it was like biting into a pillow. We tried the strawberry puff first and loved the strawberry cream inside--so fluffy just like the bread surrounding it! Since I like red bean, I loved the red bean bread (my mom wasn't a fan of the flavor). The milk pudding was delicious too. The vanilla custard was decadent and I liked how that one was more compact so the filling was able to actually fill the entire puff. Another aspect that made this amazing was the checkout. We had grabbed a good amount of items, and we noted the prices labeled on each one. What we didn't expect was much cheaper prices on the receipt versus what we noted on the display cases. We paid only $13 for everything we got! That's a steal, especially for how good everything was. We didn't know if it was a weekday discount thing or a mistake made by the system, but we weren't complaining lol. Was in the area, and unbeknownst to me that the corner of Chandler and Dobson is an really cool Asian shopping plaza, including 85 Degrees! I'd heard the name before as they've opened a few bakeries in the Valley, and this Chandler location was the first. Maybe it was the timing (early evening) that made my first visit less than fun. It was pretty slim pickins for grabbing a few fun snacks to try. You walk in and there are a plethora of cases that one can assume are generally full of bake deliciousness - savory and sweet alike. 85* is also known for their cakes and boba. Since it was late, caffeine was not plausible to drink. I grabbed a sweet roll and asked the counter for a small slice of tiramisu. The people behind the counter came off a little stand-offish.. no smile, no interest in conversation or even small talk. I however left with a smile, excited for my #LittleTreat.
