Spring Leap is one of Light Heart's speciality coffees this season. The presentation was very pretty with latte art, poppyseeds, and a dried lemon. I wasn't sure what lemon poppyseed would taste like in a coffee syrup, and I'm not sure if I know even after trying it. The flavor of their homemade syrup leans towards lemon rind than lemon flesh. It was almost a bit bitter. The espresso was smooth with 2% milk. I would consider coming back but getting a different flavor. read more

Coffee was ok but I really wish the barista would have told me the wifi was down when I walked in with my giant laptop , rather than waiting until I asked why I couldn't connect and then explaining that it hadn't worked all day and shrugging it off. I've been a longtime customer of Lightheart Coffee, originally from their OG location off Shea in Scottsdale, and I was really happy to see them open closer to me in Gilbert, not much closer but closer nonetheless. The owners are genuinely some of the sweetest and cutest couple ever. The drinks are yum every time, especially their specialty lattes which are what I usually stick with. They manage to keep things balanced and not overly sweet, which I appreciate. It can get busy, especially during peak hours, so coming early helps if you don't want to wait around. We have been to the light heart Scottsdale coffee location a few times and have really enjoyed it there. Our visit to the Gilbert spot was different. Their Gilbert café has a perfect corner location just off Gilbert Road in the downtown corridor. We visited this bright and cozy coffee shop on April 30th. I ordered the 12 oz. Rabbit Trail espresso drink ($7) because the menu mentioned homemade carrot cake syrup and walnut. Unfortunately, the carrot cake flavor was barely noticeable, and the walnut topping was missing entirely -- which was the main reason I chose the drink. My daughter ordered the Spring Fling specialty drink ($7). She could mostly taste lemon rind, while the syrup flavor itself seemed absent. With that said, the poppy seed and lemon garnish on top of the foam was very pretty. The space was pleasant enough, but for us, it lacked a memorable atmosphere or vibe that made us want to stay. While drinking our beverages, we agreed that we probably wouldn't go out of our way to return. Free parking is available either in the lot behind the building or along the street. read more

Never noticed that the cookie dough place swapped out for a coffee shop, so we tried it out. Fast, friendly service. It's really cozy inside as well. We got the nitros, mine with vanilla, hers with just stevia. They both tasted pretty close to the same, but that being said, they were both delicious and some of the better nitros I've had. This place was great! Light Heart has been on my list for a while now, and I was excited to see they were close by an appointment I had that morning! I came by on a weekday around 9am and had no problem finding street parking. There is indoor/outdoor seating and the whole place was bright and clean. I decided to try one of their seasonal specials called Rabbit Trail which had their homemade carrot cake syrup. It was delicious, and I loved the candied walnuts on the side. They offer their special drinks made with either espresso or matcha which is nice (I choose espresso). Everyone working was super friendly, and my drink came up quickly. I love Lightheart Coffee in Scottsdale was so excited to see that they opened another location in Gilbert. I love that they have a variety of housemade syrups and don't charge extra for non-dairy milk. We went in around noon on a Sunday and the line was out the door and they were out of one of their seasonal drink offerings. Stopped for coffee and the line was long! Probably with it being fairly new and with lots of hype surrounding it's opening. We were not able to know what was available until we got closer to the counter where the menu & specialty drinks were. The coffee selection and variety was fair. Ordered the brown sugar macadamia latte which was creamy, smooth and delicious. My daughter had one of their more popular drinks the blueberry cobbler which she really liked. Also, if you are a matcha fan this is the place for you, organic & sourced right from Japan. Food-they offer a breakfast sandwich and a burrito that have hash browns inside. Some fresh pastries are available also, but sell out early. Your best bet (to ensure you get one) is to beat the rush! The service was friendly, the atmosphere can be rushed or relaxed (depending on the day & time). I've been to other locations but this was my second time at the Gilbert location. I think the owners are doing much better with staffing because the line wasn't wrapped around the building like it normally is and I was able to order + get a coffee in about 20 mins or so which is definitely much shorter than usual when it comes to their other locations. For the most part every single drink I have gotten here has been nothing short of amazing. If you don't like the drink they are always so helpful and willing to remake something else for you. My favorite is the berry cobbler- never in a million years did I think blueberry and coffee would go well together but it's such a perfect combo! (Even good with matcha too!) This location probably has the most seating out of all their locations- it's always so sweet to visit! The back area is perfect if you are needing to take some work calls or looking for a quiet space! There is a big public parking lot right around the corner! read more

I asked for a recommendation for a matcha drink, and the barista suggested the Berry Cobbler matcha, which she said is their most popular--and it was definitely delicious. The drink was sweet, flavorful, and honestly really pretty. That said, I wasn't asked what size I wanted, so I'm assuming this was the smaller size, and for the price, it felt a bit on the expensive side. While everything seems pricey everywhere these days, the cost combined with the size is what knocked this down to four stars for me. We came here this past Saturday very early in the morning. We ordered the Island time with espresso which can also be ordered with matcha. The coffee shop is really pretty and clean. They have ample space for customers and I think would be a good place to study. The biggest con for me is that they do not have alternative milk. Starting with the banana matcha, the sweetness was on point but honestly couldn't taste the matcha. The flavor of the matcha was overpowered by the milk and banana. The same goes for the blueberry matcha, a bit too overpowering. Although I couldn't taste the matcha, the drink overall was still good. Got there early and turns out my friend and I were first in line to be the first ever customers! Once they open the doors, I ordered an apple pop tart and the black cherry cobbler specialty coffee. The coffee was absolutely delicious. The interior was on brand to their other locations. all gorgeous dark wood. I love the back seating area as it provided gorgeous, lighting and a homey feel. The decor for sale is a nice touch! The only thing that caught my eye was a lack outlets. So excited to try this place! The line was already long when I arrived around 11am, but it moved quickly -- and it got even longer behind me. The aesthetic is totally my style: earthy, minimal, and really calming. They also have a few small seating areas in the back. I've been to the Shea location and fell in love with the berry cobbler matcha, but it's a bit of a drive for me, so I was stoked to see Light Heart open a Gilbert location! I went on a Sunday morning, about 40 minutes after opening and the line was out the door! About 25 people or so ahead of me. Luckily it moves pretty quick, the weather was gorgeous, and their music was top choice so I didn't mind the wait. I went with their seasonal Nisu latte: vanilla, raspberry and cardamom. It was perfectly sweet, fruity, and balanced. I was hoping to snag a pastry while I was there but they were all sold out by the time I got there. Oh well, just motivation to go right at open next time! A coffee shop with coffees that are truly addicting with perfectly crafted flavors. Mornings around opening time are very busy but there is much less wait around midday or afternoon. So far, I have tried the Nisu and Snowbird coffees. The nisu is incredibly balanced with raspberry, cardamom, and vanilla and the snowbird is decadent with chocolate and brown butter toffee. The prices are a little bit higher for smaller coffees, but this is one of the only coffee shops I've been to where I'm sad when I've finished my drink! read more

I was so excited to try this place after hearing of the one in Scottsdale, but I rarely make it out there. When I arrived, it was very chaotic, very busy. I almost decided to go to a different coffee shop in the area. I met a friend here and managed to find a table in the back room. It was very loud because it was so busy and because they have a speaker back there that is blaring music. The coffee was just mediocre The service was meh, It's a really cute place. I am in school at the moment, and I found myself saying I would not come here to work on schoolwork. I was super excited to try this coffee shop! I've heard good things about their Scottsdale location but never go to the side of town. I stopped by on a Sunday after church and the line was pretty long, I think it ended up taking 45 minutes just for us to order. Surprisingly the drinks didn't take too long to get made. I decided to get an iced matcha with the berry syrup, as that's the drink I've been seeing most on instagram. It ended up being just okay, nothing special. The matcha wasn't my favorite, I think the berry syrup saved it a little. We also were going to get food, but they did not have food available yet cause I think it was only the second week they'd been open. I do think I'll go back again to try another drink that's not matcha, and to try the food, but it's not on the top of my list. read more

I visited this coffee shop a few weeks after they opened in Gilbert and the experience was honestly mixed. The first time I went, the garage-style doors were open and the line started right there. Even though there were a decent amount of people, the line moved pretty fast, which was nice. I ordered the Log Cabin latte with an extra shot of espresso plus an everything bagel pastry. The standard is two shots, so I bumped it to three. Unfortunately, the latte was very underwhelming. It mostly tasted like milk and I could barely taste the espresso at all. The pastry, on the other hand, was delicious and definitely the highlight of that visit. A few weeks later, I went back hoping for a better experience. This time the garage doors were closed, so I went in through the regular entrance. It was insanely crowded and the line seemed to start in a completely different spot than before. I was honestly confused, overwhelmed, and kind of flustered by how packed and disorganized it felt. I ended up leaving without ordering anything. I've heard their breakfast sandwich is really good, so I'd like to try it someday. But with how confusing and chaotic the space felt on my second visit, I'm not sure when or if I'll be back. read more

If you're in the East Valley looking for a beautifully designed coffee shop to help you create or connect, Light Heart Coffee in Gilbert is the one. When you walk in, one of the first things you notice is the bar: it stretches from the ordering counter all the way down to where you pick up your drink, and you can just stand there and watch the baristas work their magic. They also have retail coffee on display (it's a bit hidden - have fun discovering that) , so if you fall in love with something you're drinking, you can grab a bag on the way out. My favorite part was the quiet study room in the back. Tables, chairs, ceramics for sale, I felt it was designed to be a place you can quietly disappear to, and it really delivers on that. I didn't expect it, which made it better. The merch is solid too: shirts, mugs, stuff that actually looks good rather than something they just slapped a logo on. The patio out front is super spacious as well. Its set back a little from the street so you get a buffer, but you can still see what's going on. Really fun spot to sit with people. I got my standard doppio: clean, well-pulled, no complaints, and ended up parking in the back for longer than expected. Phenomenal natural natural light, comfortable decor, and a space to be inspired and create. Planned to stay for one hour; stayed for almost three. Light Heart Coffee is genuinely worth the visit. I've been so excited to try this viral coffee shop and it did not disappoint! We came on a Sunday around 10:30am and were shocked to see the line wrapped around the building. I was ready to go home and try again another day but my husband encouraged us to wait so we did. The line moved very quickly, and we made it through in about 10 minutes. I was so conflicted with the holiday flavors, everything looked so good. I ended up going with Narnia which is made with rosemary and carmel syrup; it was incredible. The syrups are not overly sweet and balance well with the espresso. No overpowering of either flavor. It's a great spot, open air and minimalistic. Staff were very friendly. Wireless password I had to ask for (not posted anywhere I could find). It quickly filled up after I got there, and never seemed to slow down. I eventually sat outside because it was got so noisy. The service is fine, but their Medium size is like a SB tall size and they are more expensive. The Americano tasted like it was missing an espresso shot and the $6 Latte wasn't much better. They do have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, which was nice and it's walking distance from a lot of restaurants in Old Town Gilbert. Came on a Friday morning, no line. The store was aesthetically pleasing and felt inviting however the staff could use a bit more training on a friendly welcome and customer service social cues. If you notice a customer waiting for something, ask how you can help them. We had ordered a pastry item that was meant to be warmed up, waited awhile for it before we saw a few breakfast burritos being served out - when finally asking about it, they simply put the pastry item in the bag and handed it to us. Didn't ask if it was suppose to be toasted, nothing. We waited awhile for this last item of our order, to only be handed it cold. We needed to leave so I wasn't going to wait around another 15 to have it heated. So I didn't bother to ask for it to be warmed up but the time wasted was a little frustrating.
