Came in about an hour before closing tonight, so it was nice and quiet inside. The store was very clean and well maintained, and I was instantly greeted as soon as I walked in. I wasn't sure what to get, and there were so many options so I asked what the most popular item is. The employee working suggested The Original sandwich with sourdough, so I chose that but without tomatoes. When I opened the bag, I was surprised at how big this sandwich looked. This was a very decent sized sandwich!! The sourdough bread was soft on the inside with a nice crisp on the outside. There was great flavor in the ham and salami, and I loved the olives. One thing I think would have taken this sandwich to the next level is pepperoncini. Lastly, they also offer Cinnabon items if you have a sweet tooth! read more

I ordered the pastrami Reuben, which had really soft bread and a perfectly balanced flavor profile, and the best part was definitely the Thousand Island dressing. It was a cool surprise to be able to grab a fresh Cinnabon right from the counter for dessert. While the store itself is on the smaller side, it was exceptionally clean, and the employees were super nice and welcoming. read more

I saw that they did a BOGO free pizza on Wednesdays so I stopped in to check it out. I tried the supreme and bbq chicken pizza - added mushrooms to both. I liked that sourdough bread was the base. It added a little extra flavor. The supreme wasn't anything too special but I really enjoyed the bbq chicken pizza. It did take a little bit of time for my food to come out but they seemed to have a lot of online orders as well. Overall it was pretty good. I definitely want to come back and try one of their sandwiches though. read more

I've been to several past Schlotzsky's locations so I'm familiar with their sandwiches and pizzas. A new location in East Mesa next to Revel Surf opened so I wanted to check it out. The menu board behind the counter was difficult to read because of the glare coming through the western facing windows. Luckily I already knew what I was going to get but my boys have not been here before and needed time to peruse the menu. Luckily the lady taking our order was patient and friendly! The biggest detractor is this is the smallest location I've been in. We counted 8 interior tables...because we had plenty of time to count them as we waited for a table to open up. They have outdoor seating but it was 115F that day and we didn't want to burn our buns. We waited about 5-7min and just as we sat down our food came. Not sure what they would have done if we were still standing...do they just hand our food to us? The sandwiches were all quite tasty and I really like their potato chips. The cracked pepper and jalapeno are both excellent. Overall this location would be fine during slow times but I can foresee some trouble if there's a lot of patrons at once. read more

I have been eating Schlotzsky's for decades and i frequent other Mesa location often, I was so excited when this one opened closer to my home. I always get a cheese original and the first time it was super Skippy on toppings so I let Management know and he assured me he would talk to the staff and make sure those toppings are piled on. He even gave me account points to come back, so I came back and the sandwich was just the same, it had hardly any cheese skimpy tomato, no onions, a few shreds of iceberg lettuce, scant amount of olives and very dry no sauce. I contacted Management again and he suggested I order extra toppings. To me it feels like the plan is to Purposely withhold ingredients. Really nice staff clean location and the Management over email was pleasant and tried to help It seemed, but the consistency of a Schlotzsky's sandwich is just is not there. read more

husband and I decided to stop in at the new Schlotzsky's location for a quick and easy dinner. From the moment we walked in, we were pleasantly greeted by a gentleman at the counter as we placed our order. We ordered our usual favorites -- the Albuquerque Turkey and the Fiesta Chicken -- with a couple of modifications for my husband. After sitting down and receiving our sandwiches, we noticed a few issues and brought them back up to the counter. The same gentleman who had greeted us initially helped us again, and we quickly learned that he was actually the owner. He was incredibly apologetic and immediately took care of everything. He personally remade my husband's sandwich exactly to his specifications and was genuinely kind and attentive throughout the process. He even took a few minutes to chat with us and share the story of opening the Schlotzsky's with his wife. It's rare to see an owner so present and hands-on in a restaurant, and we truly admire that level of dedication. We already love the food, but after this experience, we appreciate the ownership and how this restaurant is run even more. We will absolutely be back. read more

Had the worst, gross sandwich that I can EVER remember! First, we walked in and there were two customers sitting in booth, but NO ONE behind the counter. After a good 5 min, a blond girl walks out..doesnt greet us, apologize just stands there. Should have left, but silly me.. ordered a pastrami sandwich meal. Gave me a cup, the diet coke was tan color, no taste. Then no straws..no one again to ask. Waited by kitchen and a guy came out and said that he was glad i told him.....? Sandwich fillingcouldnt have been 1/4 inch. Two paper thin slices of pastrami that had been fried..took top of stale bread off and there was a huge vein stickig up out of meat. Gag me. I would have taken sandwich back up, but u got it...NO ONE THERE! threw it out and left. NEVER AGAIN!! MAN AGMENT WHERE ARE YOU? Could have left with the store, but there were no supplies out! Saw online they had a $5 breakfast so went to check it out. With that deal you get a breakfast burrito or sandwich a drink and a hash brown. I got the bacon breakfast burrito and it was chock full of bacon, veggies, cheese and potato's and was very impressed with it. The hash brown was great as well and the staff is very friendly and attentive. More people should visit for breakfast and try their delicious smelling Cinnabons as well. read more

New Year's Day and we loved our lunch here. Number one the gluten free sandwich bun was better than I expected. I was actually able to finish and enjoy it. Number two the service today was exceptional. All the guys working were cordial, efficient and informed about their menu. The lemonade was tasty. Over all worth returning. I ordered Harvest Chicken Salad the menu showed $ 10.49 but it rang up as $ 12.99 the staff pretty much said oh well, offerred nothing. Salad was 15.99 and awful, the apple wedges were not wedges but thin slices of apples. Salad contained about four bites of chicken total. The bread stickes were a joke, as it was two thin slices of bread. The description of what is offered on menu is not what was given. Waste of money, I was hungry after an hour. Great fast food! It's in the new surf park in Mesa/Gilbert on Power Rd, so the surfers know good eats, yeah? Sandwiches--made-to-order--custom soft drinks (strawberry lemonade, dude!) & regular soft drinks. Extra: They sell fresh Cinnabons all boxed & ready for you. Service A++++++. We went into this Schlotzsky's location today and I was disappointed that they ask for a tip when you order, only to find that you have to go and clean your own table when you enter the dining area. The guy at the counter was pleasant and the sandwich was very good but clean the place if you're going to be asking for a tip. I'm so sick of tipping at the counter. You're not doing anything to better my experience. Like I said, the sandwich was very good, but, I was pissed off the whole time that I was there because I left a tip. Dining area was not clean. Service was welcoming and pleasant, they explained how sandwich comes (never tried this place) and with what sauces (star for staff knowledge). Restaurant was clean. The sandwich was good. The disappointment was with the Cinnabon. I think it's been sitting out on their staging/grab shelf for a while so the outside of the Cinnabon was pretty dry. I wish they would've gave one to me that was sitting near counter under a heat lamp. Will i go back? Possibly but will likely not order a Cinnabon as it wasn't worth it for a dry Cinnabon. I get that this place is newly opened so hopefully the next time everything is fresh and yummy. read more

I've been eating Schlotzsky's for decades! I typically go to the Schlotzsky's on Country Club near Baseline & the 60 freeway. I also have frequented the Schlotzsky's on Priest near Southern Avenue. They have consistency. However, this new Schlotzsky's... It is not the same! My sandwich was a shadow of what it is at other locations:( It literally felt about a half a pound lighter, and it's a veggie sandwich. It felt like there was no sauce on there whatsoever. When I usually get my veggie sandwich, it is yummy and saucy! This was a huge disappointment as this Schlotzsky's is convenient for me in a lot of ways. I definitely paid the same high price, but what I got was just not near worth it especially because it's just vegetables! Damn maybe they'll get their act together and figure out the correct way to make a Schlotzsky's sandwich. read more

I stopped into this location at 7:55pm tonight and ordered 2 sandwiches to go. It took until 8:25 to get that order. I stood around waiting along with sooo many other people for food that should have taken 10 mins, tops, to make. The location off of Country Club and the 60 has a drive thru and even during lunch rush hour only has you sitting in your car waiting for 5 mins or so. The long wait, paired with tables that needed to be bussed and lots of irritated, hungry customers...I really hope they work out a better system going forward. The operation of this restaurant looked like they opened it before they were ready to conduct business. We had not had a Schlotskys in years since moving here and so enjoyed them. They original sandwich here was nothing like we remembered. Bread wasn't grilled, sandwich was underdressed with veggies and condiments. Wife won't return. All staff appeared not trained, no sense of urgency (you can see food prep thru door)or customer focus at noon, (except 1 staffer). Long wait line with customers rolling eyes, head propped on elbow at counter, walking out because cashier (manager?) didn't appear to know software for order taking which created a slow moving line. Something better change or based on my experience this restaurant will fail with all the competition opening around them. The app ordering can only do so much to cover for the above deficiencies. In fact the app only slows delivery of in-store customers. As a retired manager of 75 restaurants I hope you will take action and I look forward to having an ORIGINAL Schlotskys experience. read more
