I visited for the first time on a Saturday evening. It was moderately busy but they seemed very well-staffed. We were immediately greeted and seated. The establishment has a fun vibe and is tastefully decorated. The live dj was fun to watch and listen to. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and even the wine list. They made great recommendations for food and drink pairings. They were very attentive and friendly throughout our whole visit. The bread that is provided as a starter was light and fluffy. It came with a great whipped butter and olive oil. I ordered the lobster pasta and it was amazing. It was a little spicy for me, but the tomatoes added freshness to the bite. They added a lot of lobster so the price felt fitting. My partner got the Australian steak. The meat was very tender and perfectly cooked. We also got the Brussel sprout which were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We ordered a chocolate lava cake for dessert which was delicious. The cake was moist and melty on the inside. Visited STK Steakhouse on 7/26/26. The ambiance was great, and the DJ created a fun atmosphere with good music. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. We ordered fried calamari, a medium-rare steak with fries and Brussels sprouts, four cocktails, and bottled still water. The service got off to a bad start. When our appetizer arrived, the waiter failed to notice that we had no utensils. After about five minutes of trying to get our waiter's attention, another server stopped by. In a joking way, I asked her to "try the calamari," hoping she'd realize we were missing utensils. Instead, she reached toward the food with her hand. I stopped her and pointed out that we didn't have any silverware. Her response was that calamari is "finger food" and should be eaten by hand. That's not the level of service I'd expect from an upscale restaurant charging premium prices. Things only got worse. Our waiter then refilled our glasses with tap water without asking, mixing it with the bottled water we had ordered. The steak, ordered medium-rare, arrived cooked closer to medium-well. The cocktails were also underwhelming--at $33 each, they were tiny, packed with ice, and felt more like a shot than a proper cocktail. Overall, STK is an overpriced, overhyped restaurant that doesn't deliver the quality or service its prices suggest. While the atmosphere was enjoyable, it wasn't enough to make up for the poor service, mishandled food and drinks, and disappointing meal. I won't be returning. I had been to one other STK location, and it was for a Yelp event. I had fond memories of it and really liked the food last time, but this time I was kind of unimpressed. The service was great and the ambience too, they had a live DJ that was spinning a mix of hip-hop and R&B over dance beats in the background. It really felt like a place that could get lively at night sometimes even though we were there on a Tuesday and there weren't that many other parties. We started with the calamari and the little gem iceberg salad - these were both delicious. I also tried some drinks, we had the castaway, the watermelon, and the passionfruit martini. All were so good. We were excited for the steaks to be the pièce de résistance-- I ordered a skirt steak with chimichurri. However, what came was not a skirt steak at all? It was an unidentifiable cut of meat, some type of no bone fillet, but definitely not a skirt steak When I asked the server - Nathan, who was very nice, what was up with it, he asked me if I really wanted to know, then proceeded to tell me that before the meats arrive to the restaurant, they are often glued together using ' meat glue' to make the pieces larger and more symmetrical for restaurants. STK Denver earns a thoroughly poor review because a great meal cannot salvage an utterly chaotic and frustrating experience. While the steak itself was excellent and the California wine was sublime, the service and atmosphere were completely awful. The vibe in this place is downright embarrassing--it looks like Paris Hilton and the Tao Group designed the space, resulting in a dated aesthetic that feels like a New York City nightclub from 2002 rather than a premium contemporary steakhouse. The service issues began at the bar, where the bartender seemed confused by just about everything. To make matters worse, a random guy walked in off the street, plopped down right next to my seat without purchasing a single thing, and proceeded to be incredibly loud and rude while watching the World Cup. The staff did nothing to address the disruption. When it came time for the bill, I asked for the 20% discount extended to guests staying at The Thompson Denver. This turned into a ridiculously long, painful conversation with the manager just to get them to honor the promotion. You get a nice big cheeseburger with a side of homemade chips. High quality and fresh ingredients. Their special sauce is good and reminds me of In N Out sauce which is a compliment. They timed our pre-ordered apps perfectly and cleared the table right on cue for the tomahawk steaks and sides. Our birthday girl had a great time. We brought a cake, but since it's $5 per person to cut and serve, we boxed it up instead. The restaurant is definitely a vibe perfect for a girls night out and not too far to walk down market street (or uber/lyft) to the bars. For larger groups, the "private" open seating area requires a $2,000 minimum spend with a $1,000 deposit to book. Parking is easy with garage validation next door or valet available. Keep in mind valet will end when the restaurant closes so if you plan to stay out later, let valet know and you can pay so that you have your key to take your car at the end of the night. I've been to a lot of steakhouses, and after spending the last three days in Denver trying 6-7 affordable restaurants, I had higher expectations for STK. We were told it would be comparable to places like Capital Grille or Michael Jordan's Steakhouse, but it didn't quite live up to that. First, our food took over an hour to arrive, which set the tone for the evening. Surprisingly, one of my favorite part of the meal was the bread. I ordered the steak frites--the steak itself was actually pretty delicious, but the fries were cold and underwhelming. My husband had the NY strip with a peppercorn crust and mashed potatoes. The presentation was just okay; honestly, it looked like something he could make at home but he LoVED it and he loves steak. We also tried the lobster mac and cheese, which was decent but nothing special. We didn't order drinks, but our server was kind and clearly did his best. Still, the overall experience dragged on--we were there for about 2.5 hours. The atmosphere felt more like a club, with a DJ playing, which might appeal to some. While there were some positive aspects - the filet mignon was well prepared and I appreciated the birthday recognition for my girlfriend - there were a significant number of shortcomings. Firstly, half our party did not receive their plates until 4-5 minutes after the first half had received theirs. Secondly, the plating/presentation of my filet mignon was quite pathetic. Thirdly, the shrimp accompanying the steak lacked flavor ... and was barely warm by the time the second half of our party received their plates. Popped in for happy hour! They have amazing happy hour prices compared to their regular menu prices. Our waiter, Alfred(o), was energetic and attentive. Drinks were $9 compared to $23 any other time. Review: STK - Downtown Sooo... 'twas the night before Sunday, lol. My husband and I drove downtown for a Christmas event, and of course parking was ridiculous--as expected on a Saturday night. He was starving, so we decided to try STK. I wasn't super hungry, but I ordered the Steak Frites (well done), fries, and a Coke ($60). My husband ordered the lamb chops ($76). While waiting, they brought out bread with herb butter and a side of olive oil--nice start but the bread could have been deliciously warm. When the food arrived, I was honestly surprised at the difference in presentation between our plates. My husband's dish looked interesting based on price . Mine... not so much. My fries were soaked. I asked for a new set of fries, which they replaced, but when I cut into my steak, it was almost rare. Like, press-on-it-and-it's-still-running rare. They took it back, and then the manager, Derek, came out. He mentioned he'd heard I had "the best steak and fries," lol, and apologized. But then he proceeded to say that ordering Steak Frites at a steakhouse "isn't really something people order there," comparing it to something you'd get at a Logan's Roadhouse. Well... if it's not something worth ordering, why even have it on the menu? Then he suggested ribs and told me I should have ordered a "real steak." Interesting. Because whether I order a $100 steak or a $50 steak, it should still be cooked correctly, and a $200 dinner should look like a $200 dinner. Derek tried really hard to get me to order something else, but at that point, I was done with the debate. On the positive side, my husband loved his lamb chops--ate them down to the bone. And Derek did bring me a cheesecake, which was good. I appreciate that he tried, but overall the experience just wasn't it for me. This will be my last visit. For the price, the food and presentation were not satisfactory. Also, a heads up: if you're looking for a romantic dinner, this is not the place. Our server Mitch was very good and made excellent recommendations. We got Western style oysters and Wagyu sliders for appetizers. Wow, I am totally blown away by my experience here. It was our first time at STK and our server, Malik, made our whole experience incredible. We decided to do steak night, and we opted for the lil burgs and shrimp cocktail for our starters. The shrimp was massive; jumbo is an understatement. The Wagyu burgers were delicious! For our entrees we went with the 14oz NY strip, it was cooked perfectly, although slightly tough. But the flavor was definitely there, and the truffle and wage butters enhanced it. The Chilean sea bass was so so yummy. Not too spicy but had a slight kick. For sides, the Mac and cheese I just can't shut up about. It was amazing. The tater tot's were a nice switch up from the ordinary tater tot you think of. They were unique, crispy outside and mashed potato inside. But the Mac and cheese was our fav. For drinks, we got a lemon drop martini, and the strawberry cobbler martini. Both amazing. Sex on the beach shots were so delicious. To finish things off, we got the donuts. Returned to STK Denver this afternoon and have to say the 2nd experience was phenomenal compared to our first. Manager Michelle G went above & beyond and that meant a lot. The visit started off rocky but she sure knew how to make it a memorable experience. She is definitely the right person in her position. The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing, & the gal (she has short brownish blondish hair & a smile and attitude to remember... she genuinely cared both times) who melted our butter not only this time but last time was such a wonderful cherry on top. Anyone who goes to STK should know that they're not coming here for good steak. If you want good steak, there's at least a dozen other places within 15 miles where you can get one. You go to STK for the vibes and the people watching. We picked it for NYE and it did not disappoint (other than the less than stellar and exceedingly overpriced steaks). The service was very attentive, entertaining, and fast. Management checked on us a couple times throughout the night to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. We hardly waited for cocktails or food, and when we sent steaks back for being improperly cooked, they were quickly brought back out with corrections. The space was beautifully decorated, they handed out shots while we waited for a table, there was a complimentary champagne (probably prosecco) toast at midnight, and the staff put on a show at a couple of points throughout the evening. The DJ clearly knew his crowd and cut all the bass, so you could hear the music without having to shout at your dinner mates. Is it expensive/overpriced? 100%. They don't put their prices online, I assume to change them up based on the day - I imagine there was a 20% premium for NYE. You'll be paying $100+ for a steak, and if you order wagyu, it'll probably be $300+ (please carefully read the menu! prices are per pound!), and $23 for a cocktail. If you drink, don't be surprised to spend $200 pp for a full dinner. I considered our tab a rental fee for being in the space. The food was honestly the least of it, but again, if you want good food, go elsewhere. If you want to have fun, come here. One mildly annoying thing was that my reservation was for 7 people and I had made it 6+ weeks in advance. We ended up having only 4 people and were told "ok good, that'll be easier to get you a table". We did wait maybe 10 minutes (which was fine, that's not a big thing on NYE), but we shouldn't have had to wait even for 7 people, especially given how far in advance the reservation was made. Food took one hour and ten minutes to come out after we ordered. Of seven meals, three were cold. Presentation was nice. Sides came without serving spoons and most were cold to lukewarm. Cocktails took 21, 19 and 35 minutes from time ordered to delivery - we were told there were only two bartenders, there were four. The quality of the signature cocktail degraded throughout the night and eventually came without the garnishment that made it more than a glass of Bourbon. Mensroom was a wreck - no paper towels, trash overflowing and water everywhere. Staff morale was pitiful. Our waiter was bitching about management the whole time. The floor manager didn't acknowledge problem or get our cocktails when we asked if he could help. He just said something into his mic and walked away. Never came back to check on us. We were told by the waitstaff the company CEO was sitting at a private table in front and knew about all the problems.
