Looking for lunch in Cherry Creek and Toro popped to the top of the list. Toro decor is sleek, stylish, high finishes and an elegant Brazilian vibe. The restaurant was not busy and the one waitress was MIA during most of the service. We studied the menu and started with a smoked fish dip. This was unique with aioli, cilantro, pickled jalepenos, lemon and over-the-top plantain chips. I easily could of eaten a huge bowl of the plantain chips, incredible! The sweet corn empanada with aji amarillo, avocado puree, manchego cheese and chimichurri that was light, savory and a nice flavor profile. Our final selection was the Cusco chicken sandwich with sweet plantains, salad, avacado and chimichurri aioli. The plantain was delicious and woke up an ordinary chicken sandwich. It was a great addition. I enjoyed our lunch but feel that I need to try the dinner menu. The mixing of fruit with entrees was a welcome change. I've always loved Toro, but their happy hour just made me love it even more. It's a bit of a hidden gem in Cherry Creek since it's tucked inside the hotel and not super visible from the outside, so I feel like a lot of people miss it. Inside, though, it's stunning. The bar area is vibrant, the dining room works great for groups, and the secluded courtyard patio honestly transports you somewhere far from Denver. We went for happy hour on a gorgeous day and basically had the patio to ourselves...which made it even better. The food is consistently delicious here with really unique flavors, but the happy hour is a total game changer. We shared four dishes and two cocktails between the two of us and it came out to just $24 each... which is kind of unreal for Cherry Creek. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, rice and skewers, smoked salmon dip, and shishito peppers. Everything was flavorful, well-executed, and felt elevated beyond typical happy hour bites. You actually get a true taste of the restaurant, which is rare for a HH menu. The margarita was perfectly crafted with fresh, house-made ingredients, and our server was incredibly knowledgeable, giving great descriptions and helping us choose. Small menu, but super thoughtful and creative. This is officially my new go-to happy hour spot. read more

The food was wonderful and the service was exquisite. We ordered several appetizers and dessert. Amarillo Ceviche came in a mango citrus sauce and was absolutely stunning. Flavor was pretty good. The Peruvian Ceviche was AMAZING, basically a Michelin star shrimp cocktail. I dream about that cocktail sauce. The Heirloom Tomato and Burrata was so unique and fresh. Loved the watermelon and of course the burrata was amazing. The blackened fish tacos were recommended by our server and I'm so glad we trusted him. The flavor profile really came out with the black salt and lime. For dessert, we had the molten lava cake. It was pretty good, I probably wouldn't order it again. However, I found the plating and elements overall to be unique. I just felt that the overall flavor was a little cheap to me. The reviews are not wrong when they say this place is NOISY. We did come on a Friday night so there were several large parties, but even dining outside of the bar area had my husband and I nearly shouting to hear eachother. Not a huge deal, just something to prepare for. Make sure to mention to your server that you parked valet! They will validate it which cuts your valet bill from $28 to $14. The bottomless brunch menu was very tempting, but we decided to order à la carte--and we're glad we did because everything we ordered was delicious. We had the shrimp cocktail aguachile, bison anticucho, Boulder omelet, and the breakfast sandwich. Every dish was really good, flavorful, and beautifully done. The menu has a great variety and made it hard to choose. Our server, George, was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. You definitely will need a reservation before hands, since it's part of a hotel. Seating is limited with hotel guess having priority. The food was a bit pricey for their portion. I would not consider this fine dining as how the price suggests? I guess it is small plates style. My favorite dish from the rest had to be the ceviche, yellowtail cubed, pairing with a citrusy sauce and eating it with the salty chip was a good combination. As for the lobster tail and steak (did not get a picture). Which was the main course was a bit disappointing. I felt that it lacked season. We first had Toro at the Taco festival where they had a deconstructed Lomo Saltado as a taco and it was one of our favorites that day so we've had Toro on our list for a while now and finally made it in for date night. Toro is an upscale restaurant but I do like that the music isn't blasting and there's light at the tables so you can actually read the menu without a flashlight. Service is incredible. Food comes out relatively quick. Staff is super attentive (our water cups were refilled consistently). The food was delicious. It is on the higher price range but you leave filling full. With each dish, they do not cheapen out on you. Starting with the fish dip, it was smoky and full of flavor. The plantain chips paired well with it. The Angry Scorpion was a yummy roll. For the cost and amount, it's generally the same as every other sushi restaurant. It is Latin inspired so I was eating flavors I don't normally eat at Asian sushi spots (which isn't a bad thing. I like experiencing other cultures take on it). Our entrees were so tasty. The crispy veggies on the lomo Saltado with the sauce was perfection. The steak was chewy but not crazy. Full of flavor. I was surprised the lomo Saltado came with a ton of meat. The desserts were delicious. It just melted in your mouth. The cake was moist without being soggy. Overall it was so good. For drinks we went with the margarita which is topped with hibiscus rosemary foam, DIVINE. Good luck of spice from the Japanese tequila so beware. This review is based off of two experiences at Toro. The first experience was during happy hour at the bar area and the second was for breakfast the following day. During the happy hour, there were a huge number of what I can assume were regulars All ordering Coors lights, it took a while to get the attention of the bar staff. The cocktails and the guacamole that we ordered were very good. Unfortunately, points have to be deducted for what is possibly one of the grossest things I've ever seen behind the bar. The bartender, the same guy who made our drinks, reaches deep into his pants to scratch his loins and immediately goes back to making drinks without washing his hands . We left shortly after. The next morning we had breakfast. Again the food was good (other than a few moldy berries that needed to be pulled from my wife's parfait) but we only saw our waitress twice. Water and coffee went unfilled throughout the meal unless we explicitly called for it. Ambience of the restaurant is a bit of a steakhouse vibe - dark woods + pretty loud music. I would probably give this place a pass if you're considering it. read more

The food here is phenomenal!! I was here for an event and there was a buffet of a lot of different items. My favorite was the seared ahi tacos. The guacamole, quesadillas, sushi, soft boiled eggs, loaded fries and charcuterie were all fantastic. I'll be back the tacos. All of the food was really fantastic. Everyone who works here seemed happy to be there. You can tell when staff appears to be well taken care of. The ambiance was relaxed with low lighting but the conversation across the place was loud. We had a wonderful experience here the other night for my birthday. We came in for a late dinner, after attending a wine event nearby. Street parking is always hard around here, so we parked in a nearby garage. We had a reservation, and a few minutes after arriving, were greeted, and shown to our table. We had a two seater table, against the wall, which felt cozy. Our server, Aly, was great, and even brought over some birthday bubbles to celebrate. I ordered the Oaxacan old fashioned - and it was delicious! For food, we decided to split a bunch of the smaller plates - I can't say that I've been to any restaurant that serves both guacamole and sushi - I love the pan-Latin menu, and all the different very dynamic flavors. The only negative comment I have is just related to timing/pacing of the smaller plates - they all came out within minutes of one another, and at a small table, we were trying to find room to put everything. That aside, the food was amazing. We had the guacamole (super fresh, great flavor), the tuna and hamachi tiradito, the Amarillo ceviche, and the lobster quesadilla. For dessert, we went with the La Bomba - which was the perfect end to our meal, and in my opinion, way better than birthday cake. They have a great selection of drinks and mocktails. Our server was amazing for our 11 top table. The food was a 10/10 and we all got to share and try appetizers and specialties. Booked a table for Valentines Day last year and it was INCREDIBLE. We were greeted and given a rose before we sat. I opted in for the special menu which consisted of a choice of appetizer, a palate cleanser, entree, and dessert. I chose Zucchini Tiradito for my appetizer which consisted of a cucumber aguachile, spicy pumpkin seeds, roasted garlic, and cilantro. It was plated beautifully and felt very refreshing to prepare for the other plates ahead. Following the appetizer was a palate cleanser of Apaixonado. I truthfully am not big into coconut but the passionfruit sorbet, spiced rum, and coconut milk all paired very well together. It was a nice lead up to the entree, which was the pan-seared scallops. It sat ontop of a corn purée made of pepita-rosemary butter and lemongrass-scallop broth. The dessert I chose was Mi Dulce Amor. This was crispy brioche with lychee foam, and amaretto. Strawberry sorbet was on the side. All in all everything went together incredibly well. Special attention was paid to the selections which shows. When I'm back in Colorado I absolutely will find my way here again! read more

But importantly, we had an amazing response from our server who brought out the manager to make sure that we were cared for appropriately. He could not have been kinder or more responsive. Toro is my absolute favorite restaurant in Cherry Creek. It's the perfect date night and birthday celebration restaurant! The moment you walk in you are met with the most professional and personable staff. We had the pleasure of having Steven as our server and he was so amazing the whole evening! He was cracking jokes with us, and also had the best recommendations on what to order based on our preferences! Every interaction with him was amazing and he even had great recommendations on where to go in Cherry Creek after dinner. Our entire meal from start to finish was cooked to perfection and so unique in flavor in every bite. My husband got the steak and the chimichuri sauce was so ADDICTING!!! The steak was juicy and so tender. I got the shrimp and it also had amazing flavor. Don't skip on the brussel sprouts.. you will find yourself licking that bowl clean it is SO good. They have incredibly unique cocktails that completely elevate your experience! The manager Jonathan even came to check on us and he was equally just as charming as Steven! The old fashioned was subpar and served over crushed ice, the sushi rolls were small with minimal fish on top. The other appetizers (brussels sprouts and the sweet corn empanadas) were the only items that we enjoyed. The filet mignon came out extremely undercooked after 45 mins and had to be sent back. We ordered the tomahawk steak and it lacked flavor and was also undercooked. We finished cooking the steaks our own on a hot plate that was brought out. Would not recommend this place to anyone in the area as there are many better options and better value available. read more

A few weeks ago, my husband and I visited Toro to celebrate my doctoral achievement. The restaurant featured the Honey menu, which was absolutely delightful. Our server was incredibly friendly and recommended a variety of dishes that didn't disappoint-- from foie gras tacos and mac & cheese to plantain chips with smoked swordfish dip, Brussels sprouts, truffle fries, and lomo saltado (beef fillet). We were seated in a quaint, quiet area of the restaurant, where the ambiance was just perfect for our celebration. What can I say about Toro that hasn't already been said about Nikola Jokic? It was unique, creative, and jaw droppingly good. Seriously though, this place rocks. We were in town for just a few days and we both felt so lucky that we found this place, more or less by chance. The atmosphere is really great, the place is hopping while also leaving more than enough space between parties so it doesn't feel like we're all in on each other's conversations. Their ribeye was the best steak I've had in the last year. The Amarillo ceviche was absolutely perfect. Sweet corn empanadas were the best ones I've ever eaten. Had a unique experience at Toro while traveling in Denver for the work week. The hotel sits on the ground level of the swanky Hotel Clio and greets you with its dimmed lighting and moody atmosphere. We had reservations for 6:30pm for our group of 9 and were told to arrive on time as they are strict with late comers. We were seated at a high table-top near the bar area which was perfect for our group since we were coworkers looking to mingle while dining. We ordered basically every shareable appetizer for the table because we needed to try everything - need I say more? All the apps were delicious and pretty decent sized which worked well for sharing. I ordered the blackened tuna tacos ($18) from the starter section of the menu since I was looking for a small yet yummy entrée after indulging all the apps. The tacos totally hit the spot and would definitely get them again! The corn tortillas had a homemade taste and texture, and the tartar sauce paired well with the blackened tuna pieces. The service was on point! I can't remember our servers name but she was friendly, helpful, and good about accommodating to our large group. The restaurant is a smallish place with good ambiance inside the Clio hotel. Parking is a bit hard to find if you don't valet at the hotel itself but I didn't realize it was inside the hotel at first. Had the margarita and it was devoid of any sweetener at all and very bitter so I went with the sangria next and somehow that tasted pretty bland- decent wine but not much fruit flavor in it. Ordered the $80 dry aged ribeye and it came on a sizzling plate which kind of put me off because I didn't order fajitas. I think this made the steak very overdone that was ordered medium rare but was medium well. The burger was also very overdone. The flavor of the steak was also pretty bland despite using the chimichurri. It came with some kind of steak sauce but that's a cardinal sin so I didn't use it. I do wish it had some salt to enhance the flavor perhaps. The service was great however and when I made a note of the steak being overdone they comped the sushi roll which was the bright spot of the dinner.
