Seconding the other reviews that highlight the unfriendly staff. Came in for a drink and had a memorable send-off from a guy who introduced himself as the man in charge. On my way out, he followed me toward the door and told me he "hoped I'd do something stupid." That's a direct quote, and it's not how most bars say goodnight. In fairness, maybe he was having a rough night. Running a bar can't be easy, and we've all had moments we'd take back. I want to extend that benefit of the doubt before anything else. That said, escalating toward a customer on the way out the door is a moment that sticks with you. If he owns the place, it might be worth a beat of reflection on how that interaction landed. If he doesn't, the people who do might want to know how guests are being seen off. Denver has a lot of warm, welcoming bars, and on the strength of this visit I'd point friends to one of those first. Definitely a 1-star experience. Hope they figure out the customer service issues. read more

Cozy comfortable bar on South Broadway. They have a large shaded patio with plenty of hanging bucket chairs and adobe benches. Sorry, no smoking or dogs. Full bar service with only 2 food options (Corn nuts or Ceviche from sister restaurant Adelitas de Cocina & Cantina). I arrived at Happy Hour. I got a Pisco Sour served in a coupe glass for only $9. I later met the owner Victor. His mother owns and operates Adelitas de Cocina & Cantina in the next block north. I happened to be one of the first customers who signed up for the rewards program thru Toast that Victor activated today. I will be back to try another cocktail and the Ceviche. read more

Cute spot I've gone to a few times now - definitely a nice spot for happy hour on a weekday. Inside are definitely southwestern/desert vibes (as you'd imagine) and outside the same on their nice wrap-around patio. Happy hour specials are pretty decent with some cheaper cocktails and beer specials. Staff has generally been friendly. This place does get busier as the evening wears on - last time we were there the music was a bit too loud though. There was a guy kind of indoor/outdoor DJing and my friend even commented if it had been a hair louder, we might have had to change venues. My friend and I came by for Friday happy hour! I believe their happy hour runs 4-6p. I had the Agua de Casa from the HH menu for $7 and I found it to be delightful. As the bartender described it, it tastes like ranch water but with more flavors! It was like ranch water on steroids. I loved it. It had somewhat of a cucumber-esque margarita flavor to me. My friend did not enjoy those flavors, lol. The bar is cute and has a large selection of cocktails. The decor and ambiance were spot on. Desert Social is a little oasis on South Broadway. We arrived shortly after happy hour ended so it was pretty chill. The bar is stocked with excellent top shelf tequila brands with friendly bartenders. Their version of an espresso martini, Adelita's Espresso De Olla, is excellent. It's a rich blend of Chairman's Reserve Spiced Rum, Atőst Coffee Liquer, and Little Owl coffee with cinnamon, whole cane sugar, and egg white. Super charming cocktail lounge off of S Broadway. We got there at 4:30pm and it quickly filled up. The outside is completely unassuming, but when you walk in, it feels like you're transported to a boho desert chic resort. I had the Aloe Margarita and then the Agua Fresca. Both were well balanced and incredibly tasty. I'm not a huge mezcal fan yet I seem to get something with mezcal every time I go out. Maybe I'm trying to be cooler than I am? While the Agua Fresca has mezcal, it's a smooth mezcal so it tastes more like toasted vanilla rather than campfire. Nothing to complain about at Desert Social! Went on a first date here and the aesthetic of the place is so cool. There's different types of seating and the lighting is low, which gives a great atmosphere. Service was kind and our drinks were yummy. A little pricey, but expected. If you're looking for a unique first date drinks spot, this is a good one! Only thing is that parking is pretty hard to come by and you'll probably have to park in one of the residential neighborhoods and walk a little. read more

I should have looked at the menu because the glass was $20! The servers were friendly and didn't charge me for my first drink. Also I'm pretty sure the entire staff was doing drugs because they kept going back to the liquor room every 15 minutes or so. Literally so creepy and inappropriate I honestly felt scared and intimidated by this bartender and the whole vibe of the staff. Working in the service industry for 10+ years I certainly understand that there is a way to get your point across to people in a friendly and hospitable manner. If you are sick of a place or position in your life and are unable to provide hospitable service, you should just move on. There's no reason to speak to people in a demeaning manner. I was very disappointed with the service at this place. The bartender this evening had an air of superiority for a, seemingly, not busy establishment, how embarrassing. I wish them luck, but I will never come to this establishment again and I certainly will never send any business this way. I came here on a Saturday during the day in Summer, right after they first opened and had a very good experience. Good drinks, great vibes. Just came back on a Friday evening in February and had the complete opposite experience. Pretty busy but we found a spot. First round of drinks was great. Then one of use ordered a Tito's and soda, which was cloudy and tasted heavily of sweet and sour. When he asked if they could remake it, they brought the passive aggressive bartender over to who first argued that there was no sweet and sour and then asked if he wanted a slice of lemon or lime. He said just a slice of lemon. They remade it and it was clear as expected, and it was good. Then I ordered my second drink of an aperol spritz. It came out with no bubbles in a rocks glass. So I went to the bar and asked if they could remake it with some Prosecco. I watched the bartender dump some Prosecco into the cup and they brought it back to me. It was pretty bitter so I didn't drink it. We left with 2 and a half full drinks left because we didn't want the drinks or the attitude. Really disappointing experienced, especially considering how great or first one was. Really wanted to welcome a trendy, cool cocktail bar into the neighborhood, but honestly, after all that, I doubt we will be back. read more

Had been wanting to try this spot out and decided to stop here before dinner on a Sunday evening. Loved our experience! The service was attentive and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. Our server (I believe his name was Christian) was so friendly and even recommended a cocktail to us, the Sunkissed, based on what our liquor/flavor preferences were and it was the best drink we had there. The Aloe Margarita was also one of the best margaritas I've had in Denver for quite some time. When you enter Desert Social, it feels like you've been transported to a desert oasis. Whether you decide to sit inside or on the patio, you can't go wrong. There are cozy areas throughout with comfortable seating and desert decor. If you want a cozy little nook to catch up with friends, they have it. If you want space for a larger group outside, they have it. Each room has a different vibe and they are all good. And then there are the drinks. I have tried many of their cocktails and I have never been disappointed. The Aloe Margarita and the Sunkissed are my favorites, but the Turtle Power and the Agua de Casa are also strong contenders. Their happy hour is pretty legit and I'm always impressed by the quick service considering how popular this place is. This is a great place to take folks who are looking for something a little different and it's definitely one of my favorite spots on South Broadway. read more
