As far as what to wear, I wore a black dress and my boyfriend wore black pants and a black button down. We were the fanciest people there. We saw people in shorts and belly shirts. This place really doesn't give that vibe! So I would urge you to dress up at least a little bit! There is street parking or small lots for a fee in the are The decor in here is welcoming, cozy and enchanted! You truly are transported in this space! I would recommend going when it's dark to really feel out the space! The lighting was beautiful! This place also has a really cool bathroom sink! Just trust me! Took my aunt who loves French food here for Sunday brunch. We didn't have a reservation so the wait was about 25 min for a bar seat - understandable. The interior of the restaurant is very cute and they have interesting restrooms. Espresso machine was not working so no milk or espresso drinks offered - not sure why that wasn't a priority to get up and running before opening for brunch. The reason for the one star review is that the food took over an hour to arrive to our group. The waitress explained that the kitchen was understaffed and everyone came in at once, but honestly it was still upsetting and frustrating. We ordered the French toast, venison tartine, and the mushroom crepe. Everything tasted good actually BUT after the hour wait for our food, we found a hair in our venison tartine. They did get another one out to us fast but just another problem found after the insane wait for the food. In the end, they did what they could with regards to the bill and apologized profusely for all the issues, but I do feel like the restaurant has some improvements to make as far as staffing and time/guest management. Visited on a Friday evening. We made reservations via the phone and there is a hold charge for the reservation that is returned when you check in. We were seated at a beautiful round booth for a large party of 6 which was comfortable and spacious for our group. We were promptly greeted and our server Nicole was friendly. She provided great drink and food recommendations and knew the menu well based on taste preferences and dietary restrictions. The plates are shareable so we all ordered different things to try and share. I personally had the beef bourguignon, pomme puree and frites. The frites were so crispy and flavorful (truffle zest yes!). Truly shareable they came in a little mound that the whole table could enjoy. The beef was tender with a thick well seasoned sauce. Très délicieux! I came here for a friend's birthday and we had such a lovely time! We stayed mostly vegetarian. I noticed most tables looked like people were on dates and the atmosphere makes it a nice date spot. I'm grateful they leave a few tables for walk-ins. YES: Yellow Rose Cocktail was well balanced and not too sweet, like lemon meringue pie. I want another one tomorrow. The TREVISO & ENDIVE SALAD and FRITES were my absolute favorites. There were so many flavors in the endive, and the French fries were the way French fries should be. I have not had Maitake mushrooms that I can remember. The flavor was complex, and the au jus was worthy of sopping it up with a piece of bread. The creme brûlée had a nice hard sugary crust and creamy center. Not complimentary even thought it was a birthday celebration. Maybe not: I love beets in all forms, and the Beet Tartine comes with beets raw, pureed, picked and roasted, but the bread crust was so hard I couldn't cut it, even with the provided steak knife. The Roasted Butternut squash was tasty, but did not stand out compared to the "yes" dishes above. The French Onion soup is a small little crock, very yummy, but so rich and salty, it was too rich for my taste. I look forward to coming back and trying more dishes. I took my pregnant wife out for dinner after hearing great reviews on a Saturday night. The food was pretty good, shareable portions. The only issue we had was my wife requested a glass of ice for her water. First glass no issue, second glass appeared someone spit in her cup after adding water and taking a sip. She became disgusted after removing a thick clear substance from her mouth. It was from the cup of ice. After waiting an hour and a half for just two dishes that never arrived, we ultimately had no choice but to leave--an experience that is simply unacceptable. Side note- we were joking that this is like Rain Forest Cafe for adults & shortly after the theatrics of my table side drink (La Forêt) it started making gurgling frog & thunder-like noises so we thought for a second there was a soundtrack going that sounds like a forest, but it was the dry ice from my drink. lol. The food- After sitting down I almost left because I scanned the limited menu & thought there isn't anything that I can eat that's GF. So I talked to the server & she said all of the protein entrees are GF. THANK GOODNESS! We had the fennel salad, beef bourguignon, the side maitake mushrooms, & pomme puree. The coolest thing is the atmosphere! I mean, it's like you're transported into another dimension when you step inside. I ordered a couple of drinks and small bite at the bar. The Duke of Mirepoix is so trippy as it's made with celery liquor, a thing I didn't know existed prior! It def does taste like celery, too, hah. The onion soup I ordered was just ok for me. I noticed it's different in Denver most places I go versus what I'm used to in the midwest where I'm from. It's sweeter here, which I don't prefer my onion soup to be sweeter. Walking into La Foret is like walking into a whimsical fairy forest. Plants and trees everywhere. Many different seating types, group couch, 2 -3 person tables and bar seating. Most tables are fairly close together so keep that in mind. *Please use the restroom, one of the most unique sinks I have every used. Now the food, everything we tried was delicious. The fries are a must starter, the escargot was good, I like that it was deshelled already as well. The beef bourguignon and the pomme puree was the perfect combo. I was surprised with dinner at La Foret as a belated birthday gift and I couldn't have been more thrilled to finally go there. We were seated right away and the decor and ambiance were just what I expected- cozy and peaceful. Our server, Megan, was friendly and upbeat and had helpful suggestions about the menu. We started with the baked brie and escargot. The brie was served in a small metal pot with bruschetta. It was delicious and I'm told the escargot was in a rich broth and seasoned well - served with a rosemary garlic bread. I couldn't bring myself to try it though. Then I had the rack of lamb. It was 2 bones, served very rare but the flavor was amazing. I let Megan know that the lamb was not very tender where it was most rare and she said the kitchen wouldn't serve it any other way and wouldn't cook it more. She did offer to bring me a different knife but that wouldn't have helped. I was disappointed in that response and would have expected something more at a restaurant of this caliber. Such a quaint and unique little restaurant this is! I found out about it from TikTok and was coming to visit Denver so swung by around dinner time on a Thurs. I sat at the bar and the bartender took my order; I got the baked Brie ($21) and a cocktail that I'd seen on the happy hr menu even though it was past happy hr, which they made for me (it had violet in the name - was floral and tasted like gin, so no issue there!). The baked Brie was good, albeit it a dense thing to eat (the cheese is heavy). I actually was fairly full after all the crackers and piece of bread with jam etc but I felt like I needed some leafy greens or something. I had planned to order a salad with the Brie but the bartender told me the salad was quite big and it could be too much food - I'm glad I needed the warning because it would indeed have been too much. On another note - the decor here is to die for, it's SO cute! Feels like you're in a forest, which I think is the idea... The bathroom area in particular is really cool, love the design of the sinks. Happy Hour is from 4-5 and they had great options on it for drinks and food. We dropped a few stars because the food was not anything special. We tried the escargot, cooked venison and Brie on the happy hour menu. All of them were ok, but nothing to write home about. But we thought the food was terrific here and somewhat underrated on many yelp reviews. Four of us ate through most of the menu. The Frites were exceptionally good, as others have mentioned. The little gem salad was another delight. Probably my personal favorite dish was the beef Bourguignon. Short rib, mushroom, onion, carrot, bacon lardon, fried parsley were a delightful combo. It seemed the chef considered every bite that he or she placed on the plate. I would've appreciated a few more bites of the short rib but what was there was delicious. We also shared a half chicken. It too was particularly good, mainly because of the somewhat crispy skin and the morel jus. Creme brulee for dessert finished a wonderful meal. Megan our server did a fine job. Any downsides? The smoked trout dip was good, it tasted like the one I make at home. I liked it, though I was hoping for something with a bit more oompf. I had the maitake mushroom and the pomme puree. The mushroom was pretty bland and could have used more of a sear to crisp it up. The potatoes were fine, nice and creamy. I tried my husband's beef bourguignon, which was good and tasted like one I make at home. Definitely yummy, but unremarkable. Parking was extremely difficult with mostly street parking and a couple lots around that were outrageously expensive. We circled for 10 minutes before finally paying $35 to park for dinner. La Forêt is a new French restaurant/bar that opened up on Broadway. The decor follows their namesake - The Forest. Tree branches and leaves adorn the walls and ceilings in a golden environment. The restaurant sign is small and set-in so look for the window with the gold branches. They have a great Pastis Hour from 4-5pm. Our knowledgeable waitress let us know that pastis is similar to absinthe and that the French drank pastis when absinthe was in shortage. The pastis is served in a highball glass with a side of large cubed ice and a small pitcher of cold water so you can add to the drink based on your taste. There are a few small plates to accompany your cocktails. The standout is definitely the elk tartine. With rosemary bread as the base, the tender (but not too gamey) elk is garnished with blue cheese and caramelized onions from their French onion soup. Delicious! read more

When I walked into La Forêt it felt as if I had left Denver and stepped right into a folklore/evermore esq world. The energy matched with the friendly staff immediately put me as ease. We stopped in after grabbing a bite to eat nearby for a pre-party beverage and I was not disappointed! The menu is very well curated and the names for drinks are so original and fun!
