Amazing wood-fired pizza in a spot packed with character and top notch service. The best pizza we found in Denver!

Had an amazing first visit to Joy Hill! The atmosphere is casual and fun. The patio in the back is an unexpected treat! The staff was really friendly and I enjoyed the open concept kitchen where you could watch them preparing the food. The menu has a nice variety of options including gluten free and vegetarian options. We didn't have any drinks this nice but the beverage menu seemed nice as well. We both got a pizzette and a salad and everything was incredible! My friend ordered a gluten free sausage and jalepeno and enjoyed it. I got the side salad with house vinegrette and the prosciutto, burrata, and arugula- it was absolutely amazing. My mouth is watering thinking about how tasty it was. I especially enjoyed the sourdough crust. We will definitely be back for more!

Joy Hill is a proudly South Broadway spot serving woodfired pizza with a Brooklyn influence and a Denver feel. They focus on naturally leavened sourdough pizzas made with a starter brought from Brooklyn and high quality ingredients, and it shows. I'm very lucky to live about 7 minutes away, which honestly feels like a blessing because it's just that good. Everything impressed me, starting with the frosé and then the lunch special, which is one of the best deals I've seen: any pizza, a house salad, and a bottle of wine. It's hard to beat. The pizzas themselves are sourdough-based and really well done. You can tell there's a lot of care put into the ingredients and execution. The space is also a big part of the experience. The rooftop patio has great mountain views, and there are plenty of spots if you want to hang out, work, or just relax with a coffee. Overall, this is an easy go-to spot for me now. I'll definitely be back... probably very soon.

Popped in on a weekday just about when Happy Hour was about to start. Was going to get it to go, and have a marg at the bar while waiting but then was drawn in by their fun Valentine's Day decor and then further back to where there was a sprawling back patio! It's been unusually warm in Denver, so I decided to take advantage and hang on the back patio, hit a spicy margarita, FaceTime with a friend and have a happy hour Mushroom Sally pizza with bison meatballs (as we do in Denver). The food was all very pretty - oh I did get a side salad with Green Goddess dressing. Very light and delicious with fresh light lettuces. The pizza was a perfect 8" size with slices of the meatballs layered onto the mushroom white pizza. So delicious on an errands day while out and about! The service was friendly and it was such a beautiful day. I was glad to check out one of the cool restaurants in the SoBo district!

In town for vacation and we were exploring downtown and found this little gem. What a fantastic place!! Food was fantastic! Service was fast and friendly. The inside is very cute and there is a ton of outdoor seating. Would come back here all the time if I lived here.

A friend who lived locally brought us here and it was a great recommendation. The view from the outside patio was great and the pizza was even better. We started with the beet salad which was full of flavor and ended with the elote pizza and prosciutto & burrata pizza. Both were fantastic but the elote was the real stand out winner. I've never had a pizza like it and it was SO good. This was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Service was great as well. Parking on the street was fairly easy to find.

Went to dinner here on a Thursday night with a reservation- it was not crowded upon arrival. They offered the option of outside but unfortunately it was too cold. However, when it warms up will make sure to come back! The food was very delicious, we got the burrata carrots and the chili & pep pizza and elote pizza. All were very delicious and unique! The pizza size is in the smaller size but we were 4 and the amount was perfect (we each got 2 peaces) we did not get to try out their drinks but the service was quick and great! Will be coming back to try other pizzas and apps!

Got a 12" chilis and pep pizza ($23) and the stuffed peppadews ($5). Pick up. A little over $31 after tax and their 3% "kitchen surcharge." The order was ready on time and delicious. I appreciated that I wasn't handed a receipt to sign and tip on for pick up (esp at those prices for a small pizza). Assuming that doesn't change I'll keep coming back.

Amazing food and vibes. Pizza is a bit pricy but super good. But they do have a great happy hour which includes on the weekends.

I love Joy Hill's chill vibe and friendly service. Their Arugula Caesar was tasty, and lighter than a typical Caesar given the vegan dressing, which I preferred. The Zaatar flatbread with Calabrian hummus was yummy too. My favorite was their woodfired sourdough Margherita pizza with a perfectly crusty and chewy crust, tasty pizza sauce, and real mozzarella. We finished off the meal with mini cannolis in each of their flavors that day (birthday cake, chocolate, and cardamom chai); my favorite being the birthday cake given it was the closest taste to a standard cannoli. They have a really cute outdoor seating area that would be perfect to enjoy in warmer weather. I may have found my favorite pizzeria in Denver!

    cashew ricotta

We decided to go and try Joy Hill after reading in Westword Magazine that they were their top pick for sourdough pizza in the Denver area. We ordered the cashew ricotta & hummus plate which consisted of their house made cashew ricotta, spicy Calabrian chile hummus, assorted pickled & fresh vegetables with sourdough focaccia. This is a really great way to start a meal. The stand out was the spicy hummus for sure. The mix of fresh and pickled veggies was perfect and the focaccia delicious. We also got two pizzas, one was the chili's & pep (tomato sauce, mozz, caciocavallo, grana padano, pepperoni, pickled jalapenos, honey and oregano) and the other was the prosciutto and burrata (tomato sauce, garlic, mozz, prosciutto, arugula, burrata and grana padano). Both were really good. We did find ourselves wishing each pizza would have just had one or two more components to them...for example perhaps the prosciutto and burrata would have had a balsamic glaze and olive oil drizzle on top...that would have made it even better. Everything was fresh and tasty, we just wished for just a little more somethin somethin to set both over the top. We finshed with a chocolate cannoli that was so delicious! Our waiter was exceptionally friendly and helpful. It was our first time here and so we were asking for recommendations on appetizers as we were undecided on what to get. He really took his time to explain not only the most commonly ordered apps, but also his personal favorites. I don't think we would've gone with the appetizer we did if it wasn't for him, and boy would be missing out! He really made our lunch a great experience!

They have great beer options, pizza topping combos that I've never seen before (lots of vegetarian). Everything I've had here has tasted great. They have a lot of seating and street parking at no cost. Cool spot!!

Ask the Community - Joy Hill

Are the stairs to the patio outside or do they require indoor access?

Hi Robert, to access the patio you would enter from the inside. Thank you!

Do they have gluten free crust available?

    Yes!

    Is the patio dog friendly?

I don't think so, only because you have to go inside to access the patio.

    Do they have happy hour?

They do! They have specials on drinks and food

Is there easy access to free parking?

There is free 2 hour parking all along South Broadway as well as the side streets, but street parking isn't always "easy" depending on the day and time you are visiting. From the rooftop, you can see a parking lot in the back, but I'm not sure if…

We had spent the…read morebetter part of a week speaking in the specialized, high-altitude jargon of modern educators, and our brains had turned to a substance resembling lukewarm oatmeal. Denver had been baking under a relentless sun all week, but by Tuesday night, the universe repented. A cool breeze moved across the tiny outdoor patio like a formal apology from the atmosphere. The inside of Adrift is a total, unapologetic capitulation to the tiki gods. There is no half-heartedness here. It is a full-throttle environment of tropical greenery, bamboo, and high-proof rum. Naturally, in such surroundings we ordered drinks to stop the psychic bleeding. My eyes landed on a cocktail called The Adrift. The menu warned that it carried a strict limit of two per person, that the ingredients were protected by a non-disclosure agreement, and it featured two tiny skulls drawn next to the name. When a piece of paper warns you that a liquid is a state secret and might compromise your motor skills, it is your duty as a curious mammal to order it. It arrived in a heavy ceramic mug buried under enough foliage to hide a small sniper. It tasted marvelous and dangerously smooth, the sort of beverage that politely informs your frontal lobe that it is no longer in charge of the evening. A coworker ordered a classic Mai Tai, which only had one skull on the menu, a cautious, low-stakes life choice. She took a sip and made the exact face a person makes when they discover their pockets have been picked. Our server, who was hyper-alert to human discomfort, pounced instantly. Instead of hiding behind the ice machine, the bartender actually walked out to our patio table a few minutes later. She explained she had tasted the pour and realized the orange liqueur had been completely left out of the build. She apologized like a real person who had made a real mistake, and fixed it immediately. In a world where most businesses spend millions trying to convince you that their errors are actually your fault, this level of raw, unprompted honesty was impressive. We ordered a small mountain of plates to absorb the alcohol: Hawaiian mac salad, Volcano Fries, Spam musubi, and crab rangoons. This is communal, heavy, satisfying food meant to be stolen off your neighbor's plate while they aren't looking. For the main act, I had the Pirate Smash burger, which hit that strange, perfect note of sweet and spicy without overcomplicating a simple sandwich. There are grander, more expensive dining rooms in Denver where people look very serious and eat tiny portions of expensive foam. But Adrift gives you exactly what you need when adulthood becomes too heavy a burden to carry: large drinks, good grease, a slight breeze, and a room full of people who have temporarily forgotten about their responsibilities.

It's the signature drink that's a blend of tropical fruits, spices, and undisclosed spirits. Mai Tai: Lime, almond, orange, mint, blend of rums. Like most tiki bars, they have various strengths of drinks. Some drinks are so strong you can only have two total. They also have an EXTREMELY long list of rums, agave, gin, brandy, etc. So you could have them make anything as complex and off the menu as you want. They also have food: shrimp, fries, lobster Rangoons, spam musubi, cucumber salad, Hawaiian Mac salad, Hawaiian rolls. So perfect bar/snack food to share. Service is perfect. Always right on top of an empty glass, but not in a pushy way.
