This is one of the most unassuming bars on Broadway. I'm sure I'd walked past it a number of times and not noticed it. Maybe that works to their advantage so it doesn't get as crazy inside? It was my husband's birthday so he went for the "El Pastor" - Mezcal, tequila, 4 pepper blend, lime, cilantro and said it was good, although he probably wanted it a little spicier. I opted for non-alcoholic that night and while they had no specific drinks on the menu, the bartender said he could make anything I'd like sans alcohol, so I did a virgin paloma. Mine was obviously on the sweet side with nothing to cut it, but I still enjoyed it and it still looked like a cocktail (I believe it was $7). Cool cocktail bar with a very trendy vibe inside. Lots of space inside and on the patio. They also have a very interesting cocktail menu. We tried the house salad drink which did actually have a feta cheese watermelon salad taste that worked; the ube drink which was sweet and didn't quite have the thick texture I expected; the olive oil and tomato martini which was smooth and reminded me of a Negroni; and the fat washed mezcal drink which was Smokey and refreshing. Every time I have gone in it always takes a while for anyone to come over and ask what you want, or to even acknowledge you and let you know they will be with you in a minute. The service and drinks were excellent, and I loved the beautiful mural on the wall. The photo doesn't do it justice. For round one I had the Port Light and my boyfriend had Rome with a View - both delicious. For round two I had Port Light (still delicious) and my boyfriend got Good Fortune. Unfortunately it did not taste good at all; it was unbelievably bitter. We were going to pay for it and order another thinking it may have just been a preference thing, but the bartender was amazing and made a new drink that was perfect. We still added the price of the other drink to his tip. There is a bit more work to do on the ambiance but this place gets 5 stars for quality cocktails that aren't as expensive as other bars, and attentive and friendly bartenders. read more

I have a deep love for the L. I tell everybody I know to go there. If you live in Denver or are visiting and you're not going to the L, what are you even doing? It's a great casual drinks with friends/post work pick-me-up/date spot. Need a drink for any reason whatsoever? Go to the L. Broadway has always been a great weekend locale with its plethora of dive bars and the addition of the fabulous craft cocktail bar that is the L has only made it better. I have tried every drink on the menu and they are all wonderful, some more refreshing and light and some more spirit forward - there's a drink for whatever mood you're in. If they're not too busy, the bartenders are also very open to letting you go off menu! Just tell them what liquor and flavor profile you want and they will deliver. Honestly, their drinks are on par with anything that comes out of Death & Co or Williams & Graham or B&GC for a fraction of the price. Their cocktails are $10-12 each, which is about how much a cocktail anywhere on Broadway will set you back, but the quality is hard to beat. Do yourself a favor and just go! What delicious cocktails! Broadway could use a cocktail place, and this spot not only fills that void but does it well! It's a bit sparse inside apart from the bar and some tables, and while I love the flower-painted wall, it felt a bit empty. But, the cocktails! Yummo! I tried the Port Light, which was a refreshing combination of rye, bourbon, passion fruit, pomegranate, and sherry. It was perfect for a hot denver day! The Brooklyn was a subtle take on a Manhattan with rye, vermouth, amaro, and a few other ingredients. The rest of the menu looked so tasty, I can't wait to go back and try more too!
