What an experience! We came to show up for a friend to give him a surprise for his 40th birthday, ended up chatting to Chris behind the counter as I wanted to check out what special items you had before taking the tour to pre-plan what I may need to leave with... hah. We ended up doing the tour, and lo and behold there's Chris again! We had a great time with our group and had some fun trying to volunteer some questions to stump Chris and he had the answers in deck and we had some great laughs along the way. We're pretty hopeful that the name Gordon we volunteered for the Gargoyle by the grain storage tanks will stick... I mean, we pulled that name out of thin air and it felt like a damn good name for a Gargoyle hanging out by the grains! Moving on, I e had a great time and till be back. We ended up chatting with Chris about all sorts of things and parlayed into some conversations about home brewing and shared some pics of my set up and chatted about what he was exploring to get into himself. You guys have a damn good crew with a passion for the business and a love for what you do and represent. And I appreciate and applaud you for it! Keep making amazing whiskey and we'll keep drinking it! We ended up grabbing an awesome hoodie and long sleeve to go, and an had to bring home the Centennial Straight Wheat 7yr bonded, and the San Luis Valley straight Rye 10yr Bonded... and a Laws racket to represent at the home bar, both have already been opened and shared with some friends in the last 24 hours and will be enjoyed more to come! read more

The staff at Laws Whiskey House is amazing!! We came for a tour and because we got there early, we grabbed a drink and were able to bring them on the tour with us. Our tour was only 9 people and Sam (tour guide) told us that we could make the tour our own. Since all of us have done a distillery tour, we were able to skip the basics and dive into the specifics of Laws Whiskey House, their recipe, and the why. It was nice to be able to get a little more in-depth especially when we all knew the basics. The building next to the distillery is only a year old and the bar is immaculate!! The views of the mountains while sitting at the couches is nice! And the drinks!! The recipes are so delicious, including the zero proof cocktails. I love how everything about Laws Whiskey is local from the grains, water, and distillation. If you're in the area and needing a drink, you need to stop in! read more

Laws is a very special place. They've been producing some of the state's finest whiskey for the last decade. From humble tasting room beginnings where they could only provide neat pours to a stunning whiskey sanctuary complete with an elegant and beautifully designed cocktail lounge, everything about this place is a home run. Laws is not only in the conversation for the best whiskey in Colorado, but also for the best cocktails in Denver. Upon my last visit, they had a churro old fashioned on special and it was glorious. The paper plane was just as delightful, one that was so excellent I may have chugged it a bit too quickly. When you visit take the time to do a tour of the facility. I personally feel like you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't, because learning about their grain to grass process is one to celebrated. As their tagline suggests, "there are no shortcuts" and in this day in age where everyone is looking for the quickest way from point A to point B, Laws does everything the correct way to achieve their signature whiskey. For me, their San Luis Valley Rye is my number one. However, all of their bourbons are stunners. I'm intrigued to try some newer expressions and experimental releases they've unveiled over the last year. To me, they can do no wrong. For the whiskey lover or the whiskey novice, Laws is towards the top of the list. Hands down, one of my favorite spots in Denver! read more

This has become one of our favorite go-tos in Denver (and not just because it has a parking lot just off Broadway!) :) Law's is just enough off the beaten path (around the corner off Broadway) that you might just walk by it and not notice, or just never turn down the side street. But this is a true hidden gem! Inside is super sleek and modern. There's a spiral concrete staircase taking you to the second floor where there's a rounded bar, couches & comfy chairs, and some high top tables. Music is not blaring. Lighting is moody. You also get a little bit of 2nd story views. Onto the drinks - everything I've had so far is amazing, and I'm not even a huge whiskey person. Their cocktails are blended very well though - if you don't love whiskey, I still recommend giving it a shot. I can't remember the most recent seasonal drink I had there but it was so good - it had sage in it which blended out the fruity flavors so well. All the waitstaff have been very friendly and are great at giving cocktail suggestions based on your tastes. read more

When they refer to themselves as a Sanctuary, they aren't kidding! Came by to taste some whiskeys and have a cocktail with my husband and baby on a sunny summer Sunday afternoon and had a fantastic time. It's worth noting that kiddos are only allowed in before 6pm. The space is just gorgeous. Beautiful staircase upon entering (but don't worry, they have a nice elevator to get those like us with strollers upstairs easily) and the upstairs lounge area is equally stunning. Ample stools at the bar, plenty of high tops and tons of cozy couches and armchairs. Plus room for us to park the stroller! Gorgeous artwork as well. We went with a tasting flight of their ryes - and took a bottle of the San Luis Valley Straight Rye home (though they were all delicious). For cocktails, my husband is a classic Old Fashioned kinda guy and he was very happy with his choice. I opted for the special old fashioned which was inspired by churros and very yummy; would absolutely get again! On the whole, top marks for Laws. Really looking forward to returning :) read more

Laws Whiskey was awesome! I attended a private event so obviously my experience was a little different than the average joe, but I can still speak to the wonderful service and quality of the whiskey. As an avid whiskey lover and a fellow service worker in the distillery world, I have so much respect for Laws process. From the four grains they use in many of their spirits, to the open valve system so you can actually see the process with your own eyes, I was very impressed. The tour was informative and engaging, and I learned a lot! I ended up leaving with a bottle of their plum brandy and a nice buzz after two delicious craft cocktails and some tasters. Although the drinks weren't super spirit forward, the intricacies of their flavor profiles surely made up for it. Thanks for a great night! I will be back. read more

Man, this place does a mean smoked old fashioned. I'm talking about the kind of drink that makes you slow down and actually appreciate the craft behind it. You come in and there's this spiral staircase leading to a nice window lounge that's modern and cool. The whole vibe is upscale without being pretentious - clean lines, good lighting, and that kind of atmosphere where you feel like you should be having important conversations. The smoked old fashioned was the star of the show. Perfect balance, real smoke flavor that wasn't overdone, and they clearly know their way around quality spirits. Not one of those gimmicky smoke bubbles - this was the real deal. It's the perfect place to have a cocktail when you want to feel fancy without breaking the bank. The kind of spot where you can actually taste the difference between this and your neighborhood dive bar. Definitely coming back for another round of those old fashioned. read more

We found out about Laws Whiskey through a Whiskey subscription. When we found out they were in Denver we booked a tour for our upcoming trip. Our tour guide was very informative and fun. We had someone on our tour that asked a ton of questions-our guide was very patient and kindly answered every single thing asked. The tasting at the end was great! They give out a token that you can trade for money off a purchase or drinks upstairs. The upstairs bar area is cute and cozy. We checked it out but did not drink because we had other things planned right after. Just a note, we purchased a four pack of the 3oz bottles and we WERE able to take it on the plane. The bag got stopped and they asked what it was but let us through with it because it was all in original packaging and unopened. We were thrilled! The tour was a great addition to our trip, I would recommend it for sure! read more

The Whiskey lounge is located abive a beautiful spiral staircase and has a warm and inviting feel with a social vibe and views of the Rockies. Great for a girls night or after work socializing... or before a night on the town. There are plenty of whiskey flights to try... but my favorites are the cocktails. The ild fashion is delightful and smooth. But, the black manhattan, with notes of cherry is now a fav of mine! The whiskey church is the first stop of the distillery tour and adds great detail to the story of Laws Whiskey. Knowing the heart makes the whiskey taste better! I enjoyed my whiskey tasting here, it's a cute little distillery. The corn whiskey was something else, lol. A bit harsh, but again I am always up for a try!! They have a small gift shop area and seating, but it really is quite small. It's a little off the path, but you can quickly get back to other hot spots on Broadway if you want to saunter around for the day. If you or someone you know is a whiskey lover, they'll appreciate this little local gem. It's always rewarding to hang with and purchase from a local business. Check it out! read more

Our family planned a Colorado vacation this year, and I immediately booked a tour of the Laws Whiskey House as the 2023 Laws Cornerstone Rye is an absolutely favorite rye whiskey in my bourbon club. My wife and I took the Laws tour with Demi, and she was an absolutely great host. Not to mention, the cocktails we took with us on the tour were perfect. She was excellent at explaining the process at the distillery and which things make Laws unique. In addition, she was amazing in the tasting room explaining to my wife the process of making a 4-part tasting a great experience as my wife typically prefers rum to whiskey. Samantha also gets a huge shout-out as she reminded us of one of our best friends from my medical school class. The ladies were extremely accommodating while allowing our kids to stay in the lobby during the tour. Laws was already a favorite as I mentioned the 2023 Cornerstone Rye is an absolute must-try if you can ever find a bottle, but now after the experience with Demi and Samantha, we will be supporters from Illinois forever. I took home 4 bottles including an Origins 10th Anniversary Four Grain that my bourbon club will be sampling soon. We also purchased way more merch than expected including an awesome bar mat. As we told Samantha, if a barrel head or barrel would ever be for sale, we would absolutely add this to our home bourbon bar. read more

This place is so chill. Going from Stranahan's to this place was a definite gear shift but I loved the smaller environment, got to talk to other locals, the tasting was incredibly reasonably-priced and the Rye was incredible. Bartender was super kind, knowledgeable, and enjoyable to talk to! I am very glad we made the trip over to this, sorta, hole-in-the-wall place in an industrial area - well worth the trip. Great little small local distillery in Denver. I like these smaller ones as they can fine tune and have more one on one tours etc. Ryann was a great tour guide, teaching somethings I never knew or heard of but also able to say or ask a few things in return. Some of the bigger distilleries and tours are packed so sometime you feel hesitant to ask questions etc. The tastings were great as well since again being smaller felt like it was a one on one in a classroom feel. I'd be back again to have more tastings and see what new offers come available in the future. If you plan on doing a few tours, I do suggest coming here 1st to get a better feel. read more

We toured Laws last weekend and it was up there among the best distillery tours we have taken. They gave almost a classroom style breakdown of how whiskey is made before you begin the tour and they use that time to engage with the tour group and really breakdown the process and history of distilling. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and also personable and took the conversation in directions that clearly were of interest to our particular group. She obviously knew a ton about each piece of the process so she could keep us entertained whatever we asked her. The tour ends with a guided tasting of 3 of their delicious whiskeys. If you are new to drinking whiskey or an old drunk like me it doesn't matter, the guided tasting is great information to have. We will be back. read more
