What we liked: The steaks were great. I thoroughly enjoyed the Denver (first time eating that cut). I was weary that it would be tough but our server assured me that it was very tender. The mashed potatoes with chives were simple and perfect mashed potatoes imo. The fries we ordered as an appetizer were great. The béarnaise wasn't traditional but it was really enjoyable. What was just okay: The $20 cocktails we got were fine, nothing spectacular and they didn't stand out in any way. My martini wasn't cold enough. The cheapest glass of wine is $16, which is exorbitant. We ended up spending $38 on two glasses of wine. Yikes. The broccolini and mac and cheese croquettes were fine, but not noteworthy. What we didn't like: We went with reservations at 6pm on a Wednesday and the restaurant was about 1/2 full. We were seated at a table directly next to the partition for the restrooms. I could smell the generic bathroom cleaner. I asked if we could be moved over to another table, and our request was accommodated, but we shouldn't have been seated at the worst table in the first place. The bathroom table remained empty for the two hours that we were there. The automatic "service charge" is fine but it explicitly says "it is not a tip or gratuity" which to me sounds like they want you to tip on top of the service charge. We were confused by the wording and I left an additional $10 which in hindsight I shouldn't have. The price point is too high for the food/ambiance/service. I know everywhere in Denver is expensive now, but a $350 dinner for two is exorbitant. Speaking of price point- they didn't even have nice soap in the bathrooms, it was the "pink soap" that you find at rest stops and gas stations. It's all in the details. We won't be returning which is a shame because the steaks were great, but spending that much can't be justified.

I would give this a 4.5 if I could! Our food was good, but the steak wasn't the best steak I've had in Denver, especially for the price. We still enjoyed our meal & loved the wait staff. The vibe was really lovely with lots of plants.

In town and staying downtown, we were looking for a lively bar with great food and drinks before catching an Avalanche game, and A5 absolutely delivered. We came during happy hour (3:30-5:30 pm) and grabbed seats at the bar, which was buzzing in the best way. The drink deals alone are worth it: $10 Negronis, martinis, margaritas, and daiquiris (regularly $18+). Solid pours, well balanced, no shortcuts. We ordered the chef's choice oysters, fresh and perfectly chilled. Simple, clean, and done right. We also tried the wagyu yakitori from the happy hour menu. Dinner service starts at 5 pm, and they do offer full sit down dining service if you prefer a table experience. Shoutout to Brittany, our bartender. Friendly, efficient, and kept the energy up even while the bar was packed. Fun ambiance, busy but not chaotic, and a great pre game vibe. Would absolutely come back, game night or not. Next time I'll opt for dinner service. A 20% automatic gratuity is added to the check, and no complaints here. The service was excellent.

No notes, the food was incredible and the service was even better. For appetisers, the oysters were amazing, the poutine was very unique, and the kimchi fried rice was delicious. The menu had unique items and Korean influence, so this is not your typical steakhouse. For dessert, the sesame tart was a 10/10 for me, I would come back just to get this! Joe was an amazing server and gave us great recommendations!

This places fills up quick so get a reservation in place. We went here on a Thursday night and its a cozy restaurant with a second floor. We ordered several dishes with anticipation to take some home and finish off our entrees. The house salad with the poutine as our starters. House salad had a good mix of crunch with the dressing and I would highly recommend the poutine. Crispy fries, tender pot roast, and very flavorful curry that has a kick with the red pepper...too good. For the sides, we got cabbage and the mac n cheese and both were good. For my main entree, Picanha steak with chimichurri sauce. The cut was to order and was delicious/tender. Overall...would definitely recommend anyone going here for a nice evening dinner.

Was visiting Denver as a party of 6 and decided to make reservations here for our brother in law's 50th birthday at 6:30 pm on a Monday. This was a recommended place online so that's how we chose this place and boy were we glad we did. Place was casual which was great because we hate dressing up. Atmosphere was great and my 11 year old niece said this place was a vibe. Iforgot to take a picture of the seafood tower. We ordered the small one which was perfect because only half of our table could eat seafood. It came with oysters, lobster, shrimp cocktail and ceviche. This is a steakhouse so we all had to order a steak. I loved that they sliced them and cooked them so deliciously. The sides were amazing we cleaned up all the plates. Cocktails were all good. Thanks for the great attention to our brother in law for his bday and our family. Service was top notch.

What a great spot omgoodness. Brent was an awesome server and Dolce had us laughing and enhanced the meal every step of the way. Thank you both!!! Finally had the chance to go and we were not disappointed. . The pork belly appetizer was delicious. The squash and Sea Bass were perfect in every way and so flavorful. I have never had a Tomahawk Steak and there was so much flavor to it. Perfectly cooked and so tender. Yummmmmm This is a restaurant I look forward to our return. There were so many other things we must try!!! #delicious, @a5steakhouse, #A5steakhouse, #BlackbirdFLY

My mouth is watering just thinking about the meal I had at A5! My friend and I have been bopping around steakhouses in Denver, finally getting around to trying this one in LoDo. We were seated upstairs (the hallway is kinda narrow and wall lights are bright) overlooking the main floor of the restaurant. It felt so fancy! I had the Denver Steak (medium rare) with a Dirty Martini. We started with Oysters Motoyaki and Mac & Cheese Croquettes. The tomato jam for the croquettes is to die for. Everything we got was phenomenal, including the sherbet. Would definitely prioritize coming here again, even if it's just for their Happy Hour!

This was definitely a splurge of a dinner when I came here with a group of friends for a celebratory dinner. Upon arrival we were directed to the bar to grab a drink as our large party table wasn't just quite ready. No issues for us since we instead asked if we could enjoy oysters alongside our cocktails. That was going to be part of our meal anyways so why not make the most of it? Once we were directed to our table near the large windows, that's when the dining experience began. From Japanese milk buns to bone marrow topped steak, it was flavorful but expect to spend a pretty penny if you want to explore the menu. I enjoyed their wine selection and they had something for any price range of preference. It's a cute environment and the staff was super friendly. I have to say they also had a heavy pour on the drinks so that was a plus.

Great experience! Bartenders were all great & explained options for HH being our first time in. Food was top tier & very tasty ! Also , made a note on what we want to try next time in . Aesthetics were not the usual steak house options but it very pleasant . Lots of plants & a more casual vibe !

    Morgan A.

Loved the appetizers we got - yakitori was amazing, mac and cheese croquettes were a surprising fave & the hamachi was kick ass. The split lobster was awesome as expected. The caesar salad was not what we were expecting, it was pretty funky. If you're looking for a classic caesar flavor skip this. The wait staff was incredibly accommodating and attentive. Tried the tartare sando as well and it was pretty awesome.

Spontaneously came to this spot on a wimp and was able to find bar seating despite not having a reservation. Looks like it gets real busy between maybe 5-8pm on the weekend. Its a nice little rustic intimate steakhouse. Do emphasize that by no means, intimate. Because the restaurant is small. The noise level was practically a concert. The food was well made with good portion to split between 2 people. My only complains that the food took forever to get to us. Everyone left by the time we got our foods. The steak has a nice very very salty crust on the outside. I had to take a sip of water after every bites. But it paired nicely with the unseasoned whipped potatoes. I am not sure what sauce was on the steamed asparagus that they did not list on the ingredients menu. But the asparagus was slimy. Without the topping it was like eating wet slimy bland asparagus. The food was filling, but not tasty as I would like for that price point.

This is in a great location in downtown Denver quick access to Ball Arena. It is a wonderful steakhouse Japanese style. All of the add-ons were just delightful. Food was just delightful. The staff was also very attentive. I wish I would've tried something other than the chicken, but I thought I might like that better than a heavy steak, but everybody else's steak looked amazing. That milk bread is delicious.

The ambiance was indeed attractively designed, bright and open, not too loud even though we sat ourselves near the kitchen. We ordered from menus with our smart phones, and our drinks and food arrived promptly. I ordered the Shakshuka, a northern African dish of stewed tomatoes with feta cheese and spices served with warm crusty garlic bread. A perfectly poached egg was nestled on top, and the dish was accompanied by a side salad of baby lettuces dressed very sparingly in oil and vinegar. Now, ordinarily, for me more is more when it comes to condiments. But the way the salad was dressed allowed the flavors of the lettuces to come through, and its blend of tart and slightly bitter was the perfect foil to the shakshuka, which was hearty, delicious, and spicy indeed! The stew was a generous portion that could be easily shared if you ordered an extra side of garlic bread, which I did. I was lucky to be able to request it from an employee who came around to ask how our meal was. The overall experience was memorable in the best way. I'm already craving the Shakshuka!

Drinks and apps were good, though we didn't try the charcuterie board which seems to be their thing. What fell flat was their speciality-STEAK! Our two filets that were ordered medium rare both arrived well done. One was so dry it was difficult to eat. The two Denver steaks ($70 each) while cooked properly, lacked enough flavor to make them truly wow us. Dessert-key lime pie-came to us frozen and was difficult to cut with a fork. Once it had thawed (as we were paying the check) it had the right consistency. Overall, we were sickened at the thought of having paid almost $1,000 (5 people) for a dinner that was mediocre at best. There are so many other great places in Denver for dinner. I would put Urban Farmer at the bottom of that list if you want great food that is in this price range. We were celebrating our anniversary, and the staff brought out complimentary glasses of bubbly rosé, as well as their special dish, which were the stuffed squash blossoms. My only downside would be that, because this restaurant is so popular, there are lots of diners, which makes for a pretty loud atmosphere. It sits conveniently near the Convention Center, possesses a polished dining room, and harbors ambitions that deserve encouragement. On the Fourth of July, however, time itself wandered off to watch fireworks. Six coworkers and I arrived for our 7:30 reservation. We were seated immediately at a comfortable table in the back. The dining room was only about two-thirds full, which made the evening's upcoming mystery all the more impressive. That prompt seating, as it turned out, was the fastest thing that would happen to us all night. Our server greeted us, took drink orders, and brought out some warm Parker House rolls with Amish butter, alongside a bowl of French onion soup. This part was good. The rolls were soft; the soup was rich and comforting. Spirits were high. We ordered our entrees. Then the clocks stopped. Twenty minutes passed. Then forty. Then an hour. At first, we assumed our meals required extraordinary craftsmanship. Perhaps each potato was receiving a heartfelt, individual farewell before being mashed. Maybe the cows for our burgers were being transported from the farm where they source their meat in Wyoming fresh to order. But then we noticed something unsettling: nearly every table around us was waiting, too. Plates were strangely absent across the entire room. We had all been trapped inside an intermission with no second act. Our server, looking more exhausted with every trip from the kitchen, assured us our meals had "just been fired." I believed that he believed it. Ten more minutes drifted by. Our dinners finally appeared roughly ninety minutes after we had ordered. I felt bad for the man. He stayed friendly and professional while serving as the lightning rod for a kitchen catastrophe he had nothing to do with. Sometimes the person carrying the bad news is the one who deserves the most sympathy. The food, at least, tried its best. One of us couldn't stop talking about how excellent the pork chop was. Another declared the salmon outstanding. Three of us ordered the Brush Creek Wagyu burger. Mine arrived a perfect medium-rare. The other two, ordered medium, arrived practically mooing. But after waiting an hour and a half, nobody had the stomach to send them back into the void. They just ate their rare meat and kept quiet. To the restaurant's credit, our server chopped twenty-five percent off the bill without us having to ask. It was a decent, quiet gesture. It acknowledged that the evening had gone entirely off the rails. Corinne clearly has potential. The location is great, the space is nice, and when the food actually makes it to the table, it's mostly quite good. I suspect we simply wandered in on a spectacularly bad holiday evening. Even so, a ninety-minute wait and some undercooked burgers are hard to ignore. I hope our night was the exception, but I'm not entirely sure I'd gamble my evening to find out.
