I would give this a 4.5 if I could! Our food was good, but the steak wasn't the best steak I've had in Denver, especially for the price. We still enjoyed our meal & loved the wait staff. The vibe was really lovely with lots of plants.

In town and staying downtown, we were looking for a lively bar with great food and drinks before catching an Avalanche game, and A5 absolutely delivered. We came during happy hour (3:30-5:30 pm) and grabbed seats at the bar, which was buzzing in the best way. The drink deals alone are worth it: $10 Negronis, martinis, margaritas, and daiquiris (regularly $18+). Solid pours, well balanced, no shortcuts. We ordered the chef's choice oysters, fresh and perfectly chilled. Simple, clean, and done right. We also tried the wagyu yakitori from the happy hour menu. Dinner service starts at 5 pm, and they do offer full sit down dining service if you prefer a table experience. Shoutout to Brittany, our bartender. Friendly, efficient, and kept the energy up even while the bar was packed. Fun ambiance, busy but not chaotic, and a great pre game vibe. Would absolutely come back, game night or not. Next time I'll opt for dinner service. A 20% automatic gratuity is added to the check, and no complaints here. The service was excellent.

What a great spot omgoodness. Brent was an awesome server and Dolce had us laughing and enhanced the meal every step of the way. Thank you both!!! Finally had the chance to go and we were not disappointed. . The pork belly appetizer was delicious. The squash and Sea Bass were perfect in every way and so flavorful. I have never had a Tomahawk Steak and there was so much flavor to it. Perfectly cooked and so tender. Yummmmmm This is a restaurant I look forward to our return. There were so many other things we must try!!! #delicious, @a5steakhouse, #A5steakhouse, #BlackbirdFLY

No notes, the food was incredible and the service was even better. For appetisers, the oysters were amazing, the poutine was very unique, and the kimchi fried rice was delicious. The menu had unique items and Korean influence, so this is not your typical steakhouse. For dessert, the sesame tart was a 10/10 for me, I would come back just to get this! Joe was an amazing server and gave us great recommendations!

This places fills up quick so get a reservation in place. We went here on a Thursday night and its a cozy restaurant with a second floor. We ordered several dishes with anticipation to take some home and finish off our entrees. The house salad with the poutine as our starters. House salad had a good mix of crunch with the dressing and I would highly recommend the poutine. Crispy fries, tender pot roast, and very flavorful curry that has a kick with the red pepper...too good. For the sides, we got cabbage and the mac n cheese and both were good. For my main entree, Picanha steak with chimichurri sauce. The cut was to order and was delicious/tender. Overall...would definitely recommend anyone going here for a nice evening dinner.

Was visiting Denver as a party of 6 and decided to make reservations here for our brother in law's 50th birthday at 6:30 pm on a Monday. This was a recommended place online so that's how we chose this place and boy were we glad we did. Place was casual which was great because we hate dressing up. Atmosphere was great and my 11 year old niece said this place was a vibe. Iforgot to take a picture of the seafood tower. We ordered the small one which was perfect because only half of our table could eat seafood. It came with oysters, lobster, shrimp cocktail and ceviche. This is a steakhouse so we all had to order a steak. I loved that they sliced them and cooked them so deliciously. The sides were amazing we cleaned up all the plates. Cocktails were all good. Thanks for the great attention to our brother in law for his bday and our family. Service was top notch.

My mouth is watering just thinking about the meal I had at A5! My friend and I have been bopping around steakhouses in Denver, finally getting around to trying this one in LoDo. We were seated upstairs (the hallway is kinda narrow and wall lights are bright) overlooking the main floor of the restaurant. It felt so fancy! I had the Denver Steak (medium rare) with a Dirty Martini. We started with Oysters Motoyaki and Mac & Cheese Croquettes. The tomato jam for the croquettes is to die for. Everything we got was phenomenal, including the sherbet. Would definitely prioritize coming here again, even if it's just for their Happy Hour!

Great experience! Bartenders were all great & explained options for HH being our first time in. Food was top tier & very tasty ! Also , made a note on what we want to try next time in . Aesthetics were not the usual steak house options but it very pleasant . Lots of plants & a more casual vibe !

This was definitely a splurge of a dinner when I came here with a group of friends for a celebratory dinner. Upon arrival we were directed to the bar to grab a drink as our large party table wasn't just quite ready. No issues for us since we instead asked if we could enjoy oysters alongside our cocktails. That was going to be part of our meal anyways so why not make the most of it? Once we were directed to our table near the large windows, that's when the dining experience began. From Japanese milk buns to bone marrow topped steak, it was flavorful but expect to spend a pretty penny if you want to explore the menu. I enjoyed their wine selection and they had something for any price range of preference. It's a cute environment and the staff was super friendly. I have to say they also had a heavy pour on the drinks so that was a plus.

    Morgan A.

Loved the appetizers we got - yakitori was amazing, mac and cheese croquettes were a surprising fave & the hamachi was kick ass. The split lobster was awesome as expected. The caesar salad was not what we were expecting, it was pretty funky. If you're looking for a classic caesar flavor skip this. The wait staff was incredibly accommodating and attentive. Tried the tartare sando as well and it was pretty awesome.

This restaurant is incredible and I cannot wait to come back! We ordered cocktails, oysters, lobster tail, two of the steak options, broccolini and bok choy, Mac and cheese croquettes, and the kimchi fried rice. Everything was cooked to perfection and our server made fabulous recommendations. The restaurant itself is very cute and I'd love to come back to sit at the bar.

Spontaneously came to this spot on a wimp and was able to find bar seating despite not having a reservation. Looks like it gets real busy between maybe 5-8pm on the weekend. Its a nice little rustic intimate steakhouse. Do emphasize that by no means, intimate. Because the restaurant is small. The noise level was practically a concert. The food was well made with good portion to split between 2 people. My only complains that the food took forever to get to us. Everyone left by the time we got our foods. The steak has a nice very very salty crust on the outside. I had to take a sip of water after every bites. But it paired nicely with the unseasoned whipped potatoes. I am not sure what sauce was on the steamed asparagus that they did not list on the ingredients menu. But the asparagus was slimy. Without the topping it was like eating wet slimy bland asparagus. The food was filling, but not tasty as I would like for that price point.

    Negroni and Dirty (vodka) Martini
    Noah K.

Pulled up on a whim on a Friday and was stoked to get sat immediately for two. Very upbeat vibe and no snobby steakhouse energy. Service was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The Negroni was decent but the martini was fire. Of course the steak was the star of the show. 12oz Delmonico was surprisingly affordable and was cooked perfectly. Great cut of meat and the chimichurri was a perfect add on. Based on this experience, I'm excited to come Back and try more of the menu. Proper steakhouse experience approved.

If I could give a 4.5, I would, I think that's right on the money. The drinks were nice, the food was good, and the service was great! There were some very minor things that could use improvement in the food-- but I'm being VERY critical. The server was bragging about how nice and "not tough" the octopus is, so we made sure to get that for an appetizer. But it came plated a little sloppy, and I felt it to be pretty tough (not chewy), just tough. But the steaks were a highlight! We shared the filet flight. All three were very very good. One person at our table was vegan, and they catered to her very well. Her entree of a vegan risotto was actually the most beautiful plate on the table, and had some excellent flavors! The duck fat fries earn an honorable mention. They have some sugar on them, so they're sweet-- very interesting, but delicious. All in all, I had a great time, and the service pushed it over the edge. And the food was very well done, too. I'll be back here for dinner, annually, but back for happy hour more often. Thanks & Cheers! And see you next time!

We shared the wedge salad and they chopped and put on separate plates before bringing it out, talk about service! I could have ordered this 10x over. Every ingredient just tastes so fresh. Not only was the food to die for, our server, Arthur, was 10/10! He was the sweetest and gave the best recommendations. Let us take our time and didn't rush us out the door which was really appreciated. Our reservation was for 7:30 and I didn't see valet outside so we ended up parking in the parking garage close by. The restaurant does not validate your parking ticket if you park in the garage. I'm not sure if it's complimentary valet.

However, we ended up showing up an hour before our reservation hoping to just get seated and we got in right away. Cassey was our incredible waiter and he made the night very memorable. After learning it was our first time there, he very patiently walked us through the menu and how the restaurant generally worked with serving sizes. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The ambience was great and cozy. We sat on the patio and it was mildly windy but it still felt nice being kept away in a corner of downtown. Starting with the appetizers, you HAVE TO get the burrata with some bread. It's the perfect flavor combination with the texture of the bread crumbs. Absolutely delicious. The salad was also a really great refreshing balance with the heavier burrata and bread. It's such a simple salad with the most amazing flavors of pickled shallots, buttermilk dressing, and Parmesan. They truly have some of the best cheeses ever. For the mains, I got the lobster tagliatelle and my partner got the lamb rigatoni. We also got smashed potatoes to share with cheese. Everything was impeccable. I was hesitant to the lobster dish because it's such a low chance that a lobster dish is actually going to taste as good because it's a very difficult dish to perfect but I can confidently say it's probably one of the best ones I've had. The tomato base sauce with celery and chile with the lobster is the perfect combination. I do have to say a DISCLAIMER if you're not good with spice food it's not for you. It has a pretty strong kick throughout the eating process so do not get it if you can't handle spice. Other than that, it's one of the most flavorful seafood pasta dishes I've ever had. I tried my partners lamb rigatoni and they truly perfected the rendering of it in the sauce and it's such a perfect overall dish with a good serving for rigatoni in general. If you're extra hungry, I would get the cheesy potatoes, they are perfectly crispy on the outside and nice and warm on the inside with the perfect amount of cheese and salt flakes. To close the night, we, of course, got the tiramisu which was very well made. Now, I have been to Paris and actually had it with the best cream on earth so it won't top that. However, it is a close second and probably the best I've had in America. I highly highly highly recommend you try it out. The service is impeccable and Cassey was the best company to have around to talk about celebrations, house of dragon, and having a good night. Thanks for making my birthday a great experience!

We started with the burrata based on Yelp reviews and they weren't wrong. Super fresh tasting, and the focaccia paired with it perfectly. It's an upcharge but worth it, and you aren't at a place like this to pinch pennies anyways. We both chose the rigatoni, we had a heavy lunch, and it was perfect. The sauce was deep and hearty and the pasta was exactly al dente. We split a strawberry guacamole sorbet and glad we did, it was larger than expected and absolutely delicious. Place has the feel of a modern restaurant, very sleek. My only complaint was that we were seated next to a room with a large group and it was hard to hear each other talk, but nothing to be done about that. Really great place with a highly focused menu that knocks it out of the park. J.Ja

As Texas transplants, we've enjoyed some incredible steakhouses over the years and have traveled extensively, but this was truly one of the best dining experiences we've had. We even drove up from Colorado Springs for our 18th wedding anniversary, and it was worth every mile. We started with the wedge salad, which was fresh, crisp, and packed with flavor--easily one of the best wedge salads we've ever had. The warm bread service was incredible and paired perfectly with the house-made spreads. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and absolutely unforgettable. The highlight of the evening was the Wagyu steak topped with cheesy potato croquettes. It was cooked to perfection and so tender it practically melted in your mouth. Every bite was packed with incredible flavor and was one of those dishes you continue talking about long after the meal is over. People either love or hate the 50's decor that Mad Men picked up on decades later. I'm in the former camp and like sitting upstairs most of all. Today, we sat downstairs for the first time. Quiet and cozy with the Rat Pack looking on, the mood was chill, anticipation high. Service is consistently attentive, prompt, and friendly here. Jason greeted us warmly and followed this with soft, warm bread with Anaheim-spiced garlic butter that we could have filled up on and left happy. It's stellar. Drinks arrived quickly: my Great Divide farmhouse ale and a potent White Russian that had mom in silly mode. Mom took her salad to the woodshed. My cup of green Chile corn chowder hit the spot. We were stoked when our server from my last birthday brought our entrees. It felt like home. While the "Sugar Steak" is their calling card and a number of topping combos are available, we went for straight up beef. No regrets. Medium rare? Perfect. Mom's filet mignon torched the one I had at Gallagher's in Las Vegas a week ago--at a much better price. I tried the wagyu coulette (picanha). Unbelievably tender, it's my new Bastien's fave. Side and soup or salad come with your steak--none of the a la carte nickel-and-diming found at most steakhouses nowadays. This sets Bastien's apart. We enjoyed the twice-baked potato and white cheddar mashers. I can vouch for the loaded baked potato and French onion soup, as well. Overall, Bastien's offers unique ambiance, stellar service, solid steaks & value that fancier spots don't have. No BS service fees. It feels like they are here for you, not the other way around. They made great recommendations for food and drink pairings. They were very attentive and friendly throughout our whole visit. The bread that is provided as a starter was light and fluffy. It came with a great whipped butter and olive oil. I ordered the lobster pasta and it was amazing. It was a little spicy for me, but the tomatoes added freshness to the bite. They added a lot of lobster so the price felt fitting. My partner got the Australian steak. The meat was very tender and perfectly cooked. We also got the Brussel sprout which were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We ordered a chocolate lava cake for dessert which was delicious. The cake was moist and melty on the inside. The berries and ice cream added a lot of flavor and freshness to it. They validated our parking for the garage next door which was a pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed our visit here

Additionally, our server, Ryan C. went above and beyond and sat down with us to accomodate dietary restrictions for my brother in law and was very thorough with what he could offer for alternative food options. His quality of service was exceptional and was greatly appreciated. Sitting on the patio was a vibe as well and is an excellent place to grab drinks. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great spot in Five Points.

After reading other reviews and checking out photos beforehand, I knew the Colorado lamb was a must-order. It's not something I usually go for, but it ended up being my favorite dish of the night. Absolutely worth the hype. We also ordered the birria short rib and hickory smoked picanha, and both were solid choices. The shrimp and corn grits were amazing, and I really loved the aged cheddar mac and cheese. Other dishes like the chickpea croquettes and the chili relleno were also pretty good and rounded out the meal nicely. The wait staff was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself has a cool, lively vibe. The only minor downside was that the outdoor heaters were a bit too hot, but that's a very small nitpick. Overall, an easy 5 out of 5 stars. Great food, great service, and a place I'd happily come back to.

After leaving a concert downtown, hoping to wait out traffic and the ride-share pick up craze- my husband and I wanted to get a quick bite and a drink. There were not many places open past 11pm on a Sunday, let alone serving food. I also came to the unfortunate realization that many of the late night places I use to frequent downtown have closed permanently since quarantine. While walking, I spotted Appaloosa from the corner of my eye. Lo & behold, not only were they open, but the menu was posted on the door with their late night hours going until 1 am. Though I had been before, I was not sure what the hours were, or if the kitchen was open late. We walked in and were greeted by live music and a friendly host. No cover charge, just a quick peak at the I.D. We sat at the bar while the band played jazz that added to the ambiance. Our bartenders were attentive and gave great conversation. We were immediately given menus and asked what we would like to drink. Katelyn took our food order promptly, and she was also funny and charismatic. We ordered the birria tacos, and they were absolutely amazing. The consommé was flavorful and bright, and the birria itself was tender and juicy. The food was so fantastic we forgot about our drinks! Appaloosa was the perfect way to wrap up the weekend, and we will be coming back very soon!

I also did not like how far away the restroom was considering not just the distance, but also the stairs from the main dining room. But the service was good, and every one was very friendly. Good food.
