    PANCETTA WRAPPED JUMBO SHRIMP (GF)

We tried Denver Chop House on a Sunday with a 6 p.m. reservation. We were seated immediately in a nice corner. The restaurant is located in McGregor Square, with both garage parking and valet parking available. Parking is $12 for the garage and $15 for valet. The interior is decorated in dark wood throughout, with dark ostrich leather seats. There was signed sports memorabilia and a bar area showing the football games. The Broncos game had just ended, so it was pretty quiet at first, but folks wearing Broncos jerseys started making their way into the restaurant. We expected a high-end experience, and for the most part it met the mark. The server was very attentive, and the service was fast. The meal included some cornbread with what appeared to be jalapeño pepper. It was too greasy for my taste. It was semi-sweet but overly oily. However, the pancetta-wrapped shrimp were very good. You get four in an appetizer portion with a caper vinaigrette. I had a garden salad, but a remnant of the outer carrot skin found its way onto my plate along with the julienned carrots. Aside from that, my salad was good. The Caesar salad came with the romaine lettuce leaves still whole, which was an interesting presentation. My dining partner enjoyed the Caesar salad and especially appreciated the authenticity of the anchovy paste in the dressing. The meal was a little disappointing. The prime rib had huge fat caps that likely took up about one-quarter or more of the portion. It was also under-seasoned, but juicy and easy to cut. We ordered the prime rib Oscar-style, which included béarnaise sauce and crab meat. The béarnaise was predictably bland for my taste, but the lump crab meat was good and tasted fresh. I cannot eat a lot of red meat, so I did not complain. I would just note this for future patrons who may want a larger edible portion. Our meal included asparagus, which tasted good but was also slightly under-seasoned. It was crisp and fresh. The highlight of the meal was the dessert. As we were celebrating a social occasion, our server gave us a complimentary dessert. We had the brownie with chocolate ice cream. The ice cream was unique, with a touch of amaretto or maybe Baileys. The brownie had walnuts and was really good.

Had a work dinner here. Wine bottles are half price on Wednesdays. Great menu selection, pricey but food was amazing. Had bread pudding for dessert, it wasn't the best but I heard the cheesecake was great. Our waiter was amazing. Nice place for a fancy dinner but just a normal dinner out, you better save up.

Came here for dinner with the kids. We had a reservation and glad that we did as the dining room filled by 6:30pm. Our waiter was training a new employee and things went really well. Excellent customer service and recommendations. I would say that nothing has changed in a negative way here. Service is still top notch as is the food quality for the price. The prices have changed but not dramatically so that was a pleasant surprise. We had mashed potatoes, veggies, salad, sirloins, prime rib and the mahi mahi sandwich. We had two rounds of drinks and a stack of onion rings to nosh while we waited oh, and some cornbread which is worth the trip all on its own. Everything was cooked perfectly. It was literally the best prime rib cooked to medium I have ever had. It melted in my mouth and was so delicious. We passed on dessert and walked out at about $90 pp. Love this historic building, proximity to the light rail and union station. Everyone road the train in to meet for dinner. No parking hassles and a quick trip back home.

Took family here on Christmas Eve and had never been here before. Everything we ate was fantastic. They had the best crab cakes I have ever had, the tuna was incredible, and my steak was cooked perfectly. I added the gorgonzola prepared method and it was absolutely amazing. AJ was our server and did a great job checking in and getting us our food ordered correctly and with great timing, not too fast and not too slow. The inside of the restaurant is really cool and has a very old vibe. It is too light or too dark inside, just perfect. I will be coming back again in the future!

Great service. Our waiter was chill, positive and very knowledgeable. Service was quick and fast. We ordered the bone in ribeye which was delicious and cooked perfectly. Our waiter recommended the Worcestershire Butter Cream sauce which was delicious. One thing I couldn't stop thinking about was the unique and delicious cornbread. It was a jalapeño cornbread topped with red pepper honey butter. My boyfriend was also raving about different and amazing the peach old fashioned was also.

My husband and I were visiting from California and we were in Denver to attend the Morgan Wallen concert, watch the SF Giants play against the Rockies and to celebrate our birthdays. Chophouse & Brewery was recommended to us by our next door neighbor who used to live in Colorado. I must say that my husband & I had THE BEST experience tonight. We had a 5:30pm dinner reservation but we arrived early to enjoy a few drinks at their bar beforehand. The bartender, Miles, was exceptional and made outstanding cocktails. My husband enjoyed the Peach Old Fashioned while I thoroughly enjoyed the Veranda. The general manager, Eric, acknowledged that we were there early for our dinner reservation & made sure to check up on us periodically while we were at the bar. I appreciated the fact that he acknowledged me by name every time we had any interaction. By the time we were ready for dinner, we were escorted to a booth that had been set up for us. They provided us with a complimentary jalapeño corn bread served on a skillet that was quite tasty. We had the seared sashimi tuna as an appetizer. Yummy! My husband had the chicken piccata for his main course. He rated it a 3 out of 5 only because the flavor was a bit bland for him. I had the pan seared sea bass and I absolutely LOVED it!!! The sea bass was cooked PERFECTLY and the lemon beurre blanc caper sauce was beyond DELICIOUS!!! I had a Grey Goose dirty martini with blue cheese olives to accompany my dinner & it was DELISH! When I had made our dinner reservation on Open Table, I had specified that it was for a birthday celebration. Since my husband's birthday was yesterday (May 31) and my birthday is tomorrow (June 2), our server informed us that they would provide us with 2 complimentary desserts for our birthdays. My husband & I didn't have room in our bellies so we had the complimentary desserts boxed up for us to enjoy later in our hotel room. I appreciated all of the little details...even the fact that they labeled our to go containers with "Chophouse 6/1". If you are ever in the Denver area, I highly recommend ChopHouse & Brewery. The service my husband & I received from beginning to end was OUTSTANDING. We are already looking forward to our next time back!

This place was so good!! This is the ribeye salad it was so good

We are visiting from California, this place was delicious! Definitely recommended the meatballs for the an appetizer they were so good.

Wedge salad my friend got! So good!

Went here for a birthday dinner with friends & was amazing! First time checking this place out, and up to the food, service, and ambiance, did not disappoint. I got the French onion soup, which was one of the best I've had in a long time. For the main course got the ribeye with the Oscar enhancement and licked the plate clean, if that tells you anything. They also bring out a signature jalapeño cheese cornbread, which is so tasty! Ordered the crème brûlée, which was to die for. Our server Nathanial was so great and seemed to know his wines. I ordered one of their Malbecs but they must of ran out so he gave me something in comparison, which was so good and smooth. If you're looking for a good steakhouse vibe, date night, or in celebration of something, this is a great place to check out in the downtown area.

Lamb chops over chutney and a side of chimichurri!

I see you, Denver! We came in from Dallas and I'd reviewed the menu prior... so we popped in on a late Friday afternoon lunch! Omg soooo good and unforgivably we almost had the place to ourselves. No appetizer to step on the pending meal! We started with amazing dirty martinis.. split a wedge. My hubby got the bone in ribeye w a loaded baked potato. It was lunch but I was set on lamb chops... as we waited, the martinis arrived. Giant goat cheese stuffed olives swimming inside. Some of the best dirties we've had out. The wedge was good. I'd honestly just eat the blue cheese and salad dressing... Then we picked out a nice Pinot and waited for the stars to arrive. I did get lucky and get the lamb chops, not on the lunch menu. Served on a pool of chutney and a side of charred carrots. I like my lamb more savory than sweet so I'd ordered a side of chimichurri. The chops were perfect and though the chutney puree was good, it was a little sweet for me. The chimichurri was very good, just a touch spicy with fresh herbs, EVOO and Fresno peppers. The charred carrots also had chimi on them, perfectly paired, sweet carrots and a hint of spice! My hubby's ribeye was great, he got a very herbaceous Gorgonzola topping. The baked potato w white cheddar good. The salad was delicious as well. I still packed up 12 of mine to go, will make a nice late night snack! So what are you waiting for? Go there, get some! Life is too short for boring food!

Went here for Happy Hour, and was a little disappointed to be honest. I'd heard happy hour was good here, but it seemed like an afterthought today at least. The sauce of the tots and pancetta wrapped shrimp that I ordered were not that good. I just didn't enjoy eating either of those happy hour offerings. HH menu said "ask the server about the chef specialty" for Happy Hour. I did... she went and checked and came back to say there wasn't one tonight. Atmosphere was moody. not fun. The peach old fashioned on the HH menu was good, but the server had to go in search of a cherry for it. Seemed like they weren't counting on anyone showing up for happy hour.

Took myself out to lunch. Bellied up to the vacant bar. Great service. Killer French dip. It was their shaved prime rib sandwich they changed around a bit for me to make it into a French dip. Delish

Denver chophouse had a classic steak restaurant deal on the inside. Low lighting, steak, and lots of wine, beer, and liquor. The service was great but we did have shareable food out and the waiter took my plates without asking which is a negative. The men's bathroom floor needs to be replaced by the urinals as it was cracked and coming off the wall and floor. The beers were good. The filet was cooked to medium how I asked for it. I was not a fan of the brussels sprouts as a side and the Caprese tater tots didn't wow me either. The only great thing I will say about this restaurant is their cornbread. For the price I paid this place should have wowed me so for those reasons I wouldn't come back.

Chris was our server and was amazing! He gave awesome recommendations and was super attentive and friendly! Food was also great, we had 1/2 order onion rings (you can ask for a massive 1/2 order which still was a lot), salads, and crispy calamari for starters. Dinner was a delicious orange marinade salmon (great!) and hubby had prime rib. He said the seasoning on the prime rib was different, but still decent. Desserts looked good but we were stuffed. A bit touristy and crowded since it's next to the Coors Stadium, you never know with places like this if the food is going to be OK because of the location, but actually, Chophouse was pretty good!

Do you get bread at the tablel?

They do have a jalapeno corn bread that they sometimes bring. But you can ask for it. I don't remember ever being charged for it when I dine here.

Shout to the team for having our table ready when we got there even though it was very busy that day. We started off with the Fall Salad and I think it was one of my favorite things we ordered. I had no idea beets can be that delicious! After that, everything else came out: roasted carrots, barramundi, and wagyu flank steak. They also put in an order or pommes frites (French fries) on accident and decided to give it to us on the house. Thanks! The roasted carrots were really good and sweet. You could tell they were quality carrots. The barramundi was another one of my favorites. I'm a fan of fish and they did an excellent job of cooking the barramundi with a great sauce(?) that tasted great with it. I found the wagyu steak flank overcooked and really salty which was disappointing given the price. The pommes frites were cooked well but also extremely salty. Overall, I would recommend Sunday Vinyl if you are trying to take someone to a place that is unique and don't mind paying a bit extra. It is a bit loud in there (we had to raise our voices a bit to hold a conversation) but it is also a vinyl place so you would expect them to show off their music.

And from that point on, from first taste, I knew my experience would be exceptional. The service was attentive without being overly attentive, and the chef's were so kind, answering every one of my weird questions about what they were preparing or ingredients that I noticed. I ordered the smoked burrata to start. The balance between the candied pistachio, artichoke pesto, and wagyu cecina really created a well balanced and unexpected dish. The burrata was creamy and the salty and sweet components balanced the aged sherry gastrique and made for an incredible intro to a beautiful performance by the chefs. Next was another small dish, which I wish I remembered the description for (I need to bring a little notebook with me), but it was a perfect segue into the next course, the ibérico presa. Wow. Just wow. White asparagus has got to be one of my favorite vegetables next to artichokes, when done exceptionally well, as they most definitely were. The piquillo peppers and pickled shallots complemented the pork, which was so soft, perfectly. I definitely died and went to heaven at this point in the meal. This is probably when I should've stopped eating because after this point, still pure delight, but my poor stomach was soooooo full. Next was another small bite to lead into my next course, also incredible. Wish I could describe it. My next course was the European sea bass. Now, sea bass is my favorite fish of all time. The perfectly crisp skin, the red onion jam, the spicy sweet balance was perfection. I loved every bite. The olive oil potatoes were a perfect complement. And at this point, I was bursting at the seems... but I still ordered dessert, because you only live once and food is one of the great joys of life. For dessert, I had the crema. The honeycomb on top, the cherries, all leading to a perfect finish. A time was had. Thanks El Five

Every restaurant review eventually collapses into one word…read more Yum. We can debate technique, texture, acidity, balance, and presentation, but every review ultimately comes down to one question: Did it make you say, "Yum"? Mescaleria Alma made me say it over and over again. I've been here several times. A recent visit wasn't just my best meal here, it was one of the best dining experiences I've had anywhere. The first thing that captures your attention is the room. A stunning wall of spirits rises behind the bar and seamlessly blends into the open kitchen, creating one continuous stage. Watching the team work is mesmerizing. Tiny containers of herbs, sauces, oils, citrus, garnishes, and countless other components come together with quiet precision. It reminds me of watching a great sushi counter. Alone, they're just ingredients. Together, they become something far greater than the sum of their parts. The hospitality begins the moment you walk in. Dominique, the general manager, welcomed me back, remembered me from previous visits, and made me feel genuinely happy that I had returned. That's increasingly rare. I always sit at the bar because that's where a restaurant makes me feel comfortable. When I first sat down, the bartender was busy and focused. Over the course of the evening, cocktails became conversations. We talked about flavors, restaurants, and what makes a memorable dining experience. By the end of the night he slid over a bartender's choice, a Corn Sour, not because I ordered it, but because he thought I'd enjoy it. He was right. That's the difference between service and hospitality. Then there was the food and the taste of the cocktails. The kitchen and bar were firing. The Clover Club cocktail was beautifully balanced and wonderfully complex. The Mollete de Mejillones with smoked mussels, scallop aioli, morita hot sauce, and fresh lemon was extraordinary. Then came the Burrata con Huitlacoche. Let's not overthink this. The tomatillo salsa verde was orgasmic. Bright. Fresh. Acidic. Alive. It elevated every bite. The Pescadilla de Marlín finished with smoky tuna, molten cheese, crisp tortilla, and a beautiful salsa that tied everything together. I've stopped trying to decide whether I like Mescaleria Alma, Alma Fonda Fina, or Alteño more. It's becoming the wrong question. Chef Curiel and his team have created restaurants with different personalities but the same DNA: creativity, precision, warmth, and genuine hospitality. As someone who has spent a career helping organizations perform better, I couldn't help but admire what they've built. One exceptional restaurant is difficult. Building several at this level is organizational excellence. Walking back to my car, I thought one thing: I'm lucky. Lucky that people devote this much imagination, discipline, and care to feeding complete strangers. Some people see a bill. I saw craftsmanship. Every penny was worth it. Thank you, Chef Curiel, Dominique, the bar team, the kitchen, and everyone at Mescaleria Alma. You reminded me that excellence still exists. And tonight... it tasted like "yum."

They told me I could eat it open face or use a fork and knife so I tried it both ways starting with the first couple of bites open face. To be honest you could eat this upside down in a blizzard and it would be great, it was that damn good! The people sitting next to me giggled because I looked like I was having a foodgasm from my reaction to every bite. Then the Aguachile De Erizo had me licking my lips and then eventually drinking the "broth" (hope that's the right term) to the last drop with Kelsey's full approval hahahaha. I had never tried Uni before and what a great introduction it was. I kept finding pieces of scallops and uni in my mouth after and it was such a pleasant surprise. The Non-Alcoholic Colada I actually had first and it made be feel like I was on a beach somewhere. Delicious! The only downside to the meal was that I had to walk through the city after I left so I couldn't keep eating more which I really wanted to. But that's a blessing in disguise because I'm so excited to come back and try even more dishes that I didn't get to and I immediately recommended it to friends who live in Denver but were out of town and couldn't join me when I was there. Again cannot say enough about the service and the atmosphere which was so sexy. It felt both relaxed and accessible while still feeling upscale. (I mean I walked in with a backpack and a sleeveless shirt and didn't feel out of place or too dressed down at all. And if I was the staff didn't make me feel this whatsoever). Finally one more shoutout to the entire team for making it a great experience and make sure to ask for Kelsey as your server she's one in a million! PS my forgetful self forgot my wallet at the table and Kelsey came running out to bring it to me with a laugh and a smile. So somehow even after my meal they were still finding a way to be the best!

I've been staying at home, but was out of some of the beer I wanted to use. I went out for another errand and happened to pass by Cask and Craft. Hmmm...this sounds interesting. Plus it's a local shop, and I'm all about supporting local, particularly during this time. I pulled up Cask and Craft's website and was super happy to see the list of precautions they are taking to keep their customers safe. Some of these precautions include only 2 people in the shop at a time, use provided hand sanitizer when you enter, and even curbside pick up/delivery. Since I was sitting in front of the store, I figured I'd just go in, get what I needed, and quickly head home. I was greeted and asked to use the hand sanitizer upon entering - yes, thank you. I then explained from a distance that I was looking for a dark beer, preferably a stout. I was escorted to the back of the store and shown the fridge with all the dark beer. WOW! big selection. I had the choice of 6 packs, 4 packs, or mix and match. This was perfect for me because I needed 5 beers. I ended up selecting Jackie O's Java the Stout. When I brought up my 5 pack, the owner told me it was a great beer (one of his favorite dark beers) and that it was a solid choice. He was not wrong. This beer is awesome, and paired so well with my peanut butter cookie pairing. So good. I will definitely be back to Cask and Craft. Their shop is filled with all different types of wine, liquor, and beer. It's organized so nicely, and the shop itself has this comforting vibe when you walk in. I'm so appreciative of everything they are doing to keep customers safe and for the recommendations they give.

The store staff practices social distancing and makes sure all customers use fh sanitizer provided at the entrance. Awesome! Never ever shop and touch anything with unsanitized hands. The store is immaculate and organized! I got two bottles as a gift to Hubby's niece.
