Our date night at Cart-Driver was divine. The atmosphere and vibe is warm and cozy, but upscale. Cocktails were excellent - we had an espresso martini and The Floor is Guava. The Floor is Guava was fruity and flavorful, but not too sweet. We started with some east coast oysters - they tasted very fresh and perfect amount of brine. I loved using the house hot sauce with them and wish I had a bottle for home. Next was the farm greens salad, which was so bright and balanced. The breadcrumbs topped it off right! Perfect starter to have ahead of pizza. We ordered the Peppers pizza and Meatball pizza. You can't go wrong with either, but Peppers was both of our favorite with the heat from the Calabrian chili. While we loved everything, it's worth noting it took 40 minutes to get our pizzas. While this was surprising for thin crust, the menu said they like to course things out for the experience, so beware if you are in a hurry. read more

While visiting the area, a local said there was no good pizza to be found in Denver but I would say this pizza was pretty satisfying. Staff were friendly and it was a quick 5 minutes or so for the pizza to be grilled. The restaurant is in a shipping container and has a cozy interior. I am a big fan of the taste of grilled pizza and their dough was just right - tasted great the next day as leftovers too. The tomato sauce had a vibrant taste and the cheese was good, although I think they probably could use even better mozzarella. We drove to Cart Driver with a group of seven adults for a 9 PM weekday reservation. No issues with street parking at that time of day. We were seated at a corner table, which fit us perfectly. Started with some greens (their Farm Greens Salad). Tasty and piled high with fun, crunchy toppings. We ordered 4 pizzas which was the right amount for us. The pizza crust is really nice - thin and chewy. Plenty of flavor from the sourdough starter and char, but you can eat it with some sauce if you want to. My favorites factoring uniqueness and flavor were the Pickle (white sauce pizza with pickles - an odd pairing that works), Clam (comes with pancetta), and Mushroom + Sausage. I thought the Cart-Driver was ok (a bit kale overload). One odd thing about this place is they only slice the pizza into six slices. We asked in a few different ways to see if they could slice it into eight for more convenient sharing but were shut down. I'm sure they had some rationale for it, but I certainly couldn't come up with a reason. We had to awkwardly cut it ourselves and that didn't work well. I lived around the corner from this place for a summer, and I tried the clam pizza once. Five years later and I was back in town and one of my few requests was to go get this same pizza. It was just as good as I remembered. My friend and I sat at the bar and had great, quick service. We ordered the clam pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, and some drinks. Everything was just as good as I remembered. The restaurant was busy- even on a Wednesday night, so be sure to make a reservation if you want a table. The place is very clean and lively. Have been to the OG Cart-Driver in downtown Denver previously. I think the OG has a better handle on pizza than here at the Lohi location. Yes, the food is good here at the Lohi location and yes, the salad and olives were divine, but I was just so underwhelmed with the market pizza which was the special of the day. It was not as advertised so I would recommend against it. Service also left a bit to be desired. Our server never came back to check on us after our food came out and I was in need of napkins and water. Happy Hour is literally an hour from 4-5 with only a few options on the HH menu. The good: Being from the northeast originally it is hard to come by pie and shellfish that meets my standards here in Colorado. With that being said i think the oysters we had were incredibly fresh and delicious. The bad: I booked this restaurant to celebrate my partner's 27th birthday as she loves pizza and italian food in general. As i was making the reservation i put in the notes that it was a birthday celebration and yet when we arrived i was disappointed to find out that not only do they not offer "bubbles" or a dessert to celebrate but not ONE person who touched our table wished her happy birthday. When i ordered dessert they couldn't even bother to put a candle in it. They did absolutely nothing to help celebrate her special occasion. I have worked in the restaurant industry for 15+ years. I've done everything from CDC, to serving, bartending, dishwashing, you name it - i don't expect much but when 2 pizzas, 4 drinks and 4 oysters cost $190 the least you can do is acknowledge the celebratory note listed on the reservation. The ugly: The pizza here is incredibly overpriced and overrated. Both pies we had were undercooked on the bottom. While the crust has a nice char to it the bottom was as pale as flour. The clam pizza had maybe 5 little neck clams on it which was sold to me at "MP" ($20+). The special pie of calabrian chile and peach had a great flavor profile yet was under cooked so the texture was far too soft to handle the weight of the toppings. TL;DR: better neapolitan pie exists in Denver for much less. The oysters were good but the lack of variety and accoutrements was underwhelming. MOST importantly the feeling of hospitality is little to none here. This place is a fast casual spot with fine dining prices. Do not come here to celebrate anything special - you will be disappointed. read more

One of my favorite happy hours in Denver. There is usually a small line just waiting for them to open for happy hour. Inside and outside seating opens to really enjoy the spring, summer, fall weather. The happy hour menu is good with lots of options for drinks and apps. Went during HH (a literal hour from 4-5pm daily) and stayed for dinner. Ordered off both menus. We were a party of four. Half of us were very pleased with what we ordered, while the other half were disappointed and had food envy. I was fortunate to be in the first group. The happy hour white wine was a nice Pinot Grigio at a generous $8 pour. The chicken liver mousse had a nice spice with a touch of sweetness, with the seasonal mostarda on top, and was served with plenty of rosemary focaccia. After seeing the rave reviews for the Farm Greens Salad, I ordered it for the table to share--definitely a hit with the parm vinaigrette, pickled onions, and artichoke. My friend and I shared the mussels, a half-pound portion of some of the largest mussels I have seen. The salsa verde was a perfect compliment. Slightly charred focaccia with a rotating compound butter. The butter at the time was a salsa verde flavor which tasted a lot better than you would think. Great way to get warmed up for more carbs. The entrees we ordered were the Zaerano Farfalle and Prosciutto and the Daisy pizza. The farfalle was the star of the show. Full of flavor from the sauce. Almost like a buttery broth. For pasta this is as light as it gets, but the flavor is all there! The daisy was great too, nothing much to report. Above average Neapolitan style pizza. Great size for 17$. This place is located in the center of LoHi. We found street parking. Had a reservation and we're seated on time. There is also an outdoor patio which is nice when the weather is appropriate outside. We came here a little bit earlier to get the happy hour cocktail deal. The happy hour menu, features several appetizers and cocktails. It was refreshing. After we got seated for dinner, the server was very friendly and gave us great recommendation. To start, we ordered a charcuterie board and added prosciutto on the side for an extra six dollars. I've been eying Cart Driver ever since I heard about their Prosecco on tap and Clam Pizza - so after pampering ourselves with facials, my sister and I ventured over for a glass of wine and a bite before heading home. We arrived around 5:15PM on a Monday, which allowed us to snag a spot to park on the street and walk less than a block to the entrance. The restaurant was relatively busy for a weekday happy hour yet there was plenty of seating in the cozy interior, so the host graciously lead us to a high-top table near the bar, which was perfect for the two of us. Let's just say the large windows, exposed brick, open kitchen, rich oak bar and jazzy tunes played overhead really create one hell of a vibe, that's totally welcoming. We quickly found ourselves right at home and proceeded to check out the extensive menu. The bartender (who also happened to be our server) approached us within minutes to take our drink order, and although we weren't feeling Prosecco, we simply asked him for his recommendation on wine that would accompany the Clam Pizza. Ultimately, he chose a deliciously crisp white, that was dry and delicious! He was very friendly, informative and made small talk with us, which was nice. He was attentive yet allowed us to enjoy all aspects of the meal without a rush. Now - the FOOD! HOLY MOLY. Everything is made in house - dough, sauces, pasta - you name it, it's made within the walls of the establishment and totally impressive. We opted to start our meal with a round of fresh Oysters - Massachusetts Oysters to be exact - which were lump, plump and oh, so good! The 4 we ordered went fast, so at the request of my sister, we ordered the Sardines. Before we knew it. the canned Sardines arrived with a side of sauces and freshly baked Italian bread. Let's just say - this was one of my favorite parts of the meal! The soft salty fish paired SO WELL with the sauces against the dense bread - creating the perfect bite! YUM! THEN, out came the Clam Pizza! Each pie features a delicious cream sauce topped with littleneck clam, pancetta, panna, roasted garlic cloves (which were so so so good) and herbs. Within the first bite, my sister and I looked at each other and said YUM in unison, because YUM. The pizza was perfectly wood fired, generously topped with goodies and had both salty and sweet elements (I swear I could taste cinnamon!) that balanced out nicely! We were too stuffed for dessert, but possibly next time! A whole section of the menu dedicated to the classic spritz? Found my new summer patio spot. I got the spritz of the day, which was wonderfully floral and bright. I would definitely get it again! We got the farmers salad which came with a Parmesan dressing. The dressing was a bit much, and I would definitely get it on the side next time. I also thing the Parmesan made it a bit gritty in texture, but hey, it's a popular dish! We got the Daisy pizza which was delicious! Such a chewy crust and fresh marinara! This place rocks! Located in a funky, cool neighborhood in Denver, this place screams laid back cool. Street parking can be tricky but we were lucky on a Sunday night. This was our last dinner during our Colorado vacation and we went out with a bang. We did dining in. We started with a Farm Green salad and it was honestly one of the best salads I ever had in my life. It was phenomenal and the flavors just melded together. The dressing was excellent. I had the Daisy and it was great. The little one had a pepperoni (which is called Peppers).
