Been coming for the last 5 years or so & it has nosedived immensely over the years. Today, 2/3/26 will be our last visit. As someone else stated, their cacio e pepe is soooo over peppered, over salted & gritty. Apps on happy hour were just ok. Drinks are just ok & not worth $9 (mind blowing that Italian gin + tonic would go for more w/o HH). That Marsala dish had almost zero marsala cream which is crazy work if you're gonna call it a Marsala. Breaded chicken added onto any dish w/no seasoning in the breading?! Just odd. Advised cashier who took order one dish we'd like to split & was told "oh yah, we can just get you a spoon for that" instead of simply typing into your POS 'SPLIT' so your guest is not sitting there waiting for new share plates & oh yah, a second go around for kitchen staff to bring a spoon. Work smarter, not harder. What really did it over the top this dining "experience" for me & my family was the male bartender. Let's just sidebar for a moment too--where's the personality & humor in 'hospitality' nowadays?! Apparently, my mums joke about "filling it to the top" went right over this guys head because he decided to be flat out rude to us after dropping apps even going as far as to mock me saying "tHaNk YoU" in a condescending, nasty way & then throwing a serving spoon down...WOAH. Who knows if he was conversing with his coworker about our table specifically but all 3 of us heard him talking about "just non industry people" which is soooo comical because my husband was a chef for 14 years but go off, fam! Not to mention I worked FOH in Las Vegas for a decade. & look guys, I know what you're gonna say! Well, you do it yourself then if you can do it better & do you know what?! We usually do haha but this place is sentimental for my mother who was happy to go because it reminded her of her late husband (my dad, who passed 3 years ago). This place is super fun! There's indoor and outdoor seating, outdoor seating is 4-5 ish picnic tables, perfect for bigger groups. The inside seems small at first but there's a whole wall down the left side of the restaurant with booths! We come here all the time for Happy Hour! It's lovely! You can get 2 glasses of wine for the price of 1 ($11) and then choose between 2 pastas for $12 I think? anyways. Super cheap happy hour for the quality of food! So delicious! read more

Not sure if they were understaffed that night but this is the type of restaurant where you would really expect to see table side service not an order at the counter kind of jam. Where the Harlem of the West ends is where a completely gentrified neighborhood begins. I am appalled at how bad this subpar Italian restaurant was. The service was bad, prices were high, and the food was deplorable. My friend and I were gonna go to our usual Italian spot, but we chose to come here because it was a new place to me. I completely regretted my choice after eating dinner here. The restaurant was clean and has outdoor seating, benched tables. All food had to be ordered inside at the front reception area. Luckily the guy serving water took our order. We had a side of bread, the butter was good and the bread was the best thing we had. The food took much longer than expected to be made. The food runners forgot our order and let it sit. My friend had the artichokes. She said that the butter was coagulated and too cold to enjoy. We were told it was meant to be served cold. That should not be a cold appetizer. I had the rigatoni and it was dry and plain. My food was lukewarm. The pork sausages must have been undercooked because I became very sick the next day. We also had drinks. My friend had two glasses of the house red on happy hour and I had the Amaro Mojito. The red wine and the Amaro Mojito were decent. I won't be back. We came in a little early for happy hour, and I'm glad we did. Knowing it's a Michelin rated restaurant, I came in with a little higher expectation which I may have set the bar a bit too high as there were a few letdowns. The happy hour wine deal is solid, two glasses for $11 is a steal! We ordered three appetizers: the prosciutto toast, the artichoke, and the corn fritters. The prosciutto toast stole the show for me. Honestly, I liked it more than my actual meal and would come back just for that alone. The artichokes were also flavorful and well prepared. The corn fritters were decent but not particularly memorable. For my main, I went with the Cacio e Pepe, and unfortunately, it fell short. It was overly peppery to the point that it overwhelmed the dish, and the texture felt off. It was grainy rather than a creamy texture. It just didn't have that balanced, comforting quality I was hoping for. Overall, I'm glad I got to try this place during happy hour when the prices felt more reasonable. A delicious spot worth trying!! I came here with some friends for happy hour, which is an amazing deal that should be taken advantage of if you can! The wine is 2 for 1 and there is an awesome list of items for $7. These dishes were all amazing with not one I wouldn't get again. They were also a lot of food for the price. The standout happy hour for everyone dish was the stracciatella and prosciutto toast, but I loved them all! The artichokes were so unique with the croutons and orange pieces. The $12 pasta is a great deal too, though I could not even eat mine by the time we finished the apps, perfect for lunch the next day though! The staff was all so friendly and helpful even with it being an order at the counter type place. I think there are of course cooler Italian spots if you're looking for ambiance and cocktails but this is an awesome place for a casual dinner that won't break the bank. Dio Mio is an excellent weeknight dinner spot. We stopped in for an early-ish dinner (around 6:30/7pm) on a Tuesday and were able to get seated right away. The restaurant is pretty casual and low-key. You get seated, but order your food and drink at the counter. We opted for the House Focaccia with Stracciatella and each of our own pasta dishes. I got the Radiatori (because I'm in a pisachio moment). It was SO GOOD. The pistachio pesto was perfect and the radiatori was the best vehicle for the sauce. The furikaki was an interesting garnish but added another level of flavor I was not expecting. Overall, it was a sweet dining experience. The host and servers were super nice, especially when we asked for their food and wine recommendations. The restaurant is in the very cool RiNo Arts District area so it's close to a bunch of other places. read more

Loved the specialty cocktails from the bars I tried -- dragonfruit limoncello spritz and blood orange margarita. Dio Mio has been on my list for a while, and my birthday was a good excuse to finally go! The counter service style was unique for an Italian restaurant, but didn't seem to be reflected in the price. We did take advantage of the happy hour, with 2 for $11 glasses of house wine and prosciutto and straciatella on the focaccia bread. It only came with two pieces in a serving, my husband and I said we would have each gotten our own serving if we were to come again, it was that good. The house wine wasn't as smooth as I would have wished, I would probably go with a different drink. The rigatoni was a little dry for my preference, but the ravioli made my eyes roll back in my head, the cream sauce was so good. We also got the carrot cake, which was tiny, but had some interesting carmelized carrot flakes and lemon flavored cream. I would probably skip that on my next visit. Another great meal at Dio Mio! My friend and I enjoyed a happy hour/dinner in their outdoor patio. While the outdoor dining area is small, each table comes with an umbrella that kept us comfortably shaded and enjoying the spring sun. I got to try some new items on the menu, and having dined here before, everything was unsurprisingly delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. The celery salad and hand made cappelletti were new and they were the highlights of our meal, both bursting with flavor! The celery salad comes with a prosciutto vinaigrette that may be one of the best salad dressings I've ever had. The hand made cappelletti sauce reminded me of a pesto but made with peas and brighter due to a slight hint of mint topped with perfectly fried crunchy speck (a sort of bacon). I'm still salivating over that sauce. I may come back soon just to have that dish again. Dio Mio is just an absolute treasure --flavorful thoughtfully crafted Italian food at a great value! Regardless, the service was great, and staff checked in on us to grab plates and ask us how everything was. Absolutely delicious. We had the focaccia with black butter, fried oyster mushrooms, and cacio e pepe. Aside from the batter on the mushrooms being a bit too salty, it was all so good!
