Blown away by our meal for Denver restaurant week! The pricing was amazing for the portions. I've been wanting to try this place for a while so I'm glad I finally did, I've been missing out. For food, their garlic bread was a little charred, but flavorful. The Salsiccia pizza was amazing! Most of the pizzas, thin crust, but then there's some fluff on the edges, unfortunately, I don't have a photo to share, but hopefully you get what I mean. I think the crust could've been a little sturdier for the toppings, but it still tasted amazing. My friend got pasta and loved it, so I don't think you can go wrong here! Lastly, the pollo piccata was great, the chicken was so flavorful and it was the best lemony dish! Can't wait to go back. read more

It tasted like "oh yeah this reminds me of other good pasta red sauce dishes I've had Malfadine: this one was definitely unique. Handmade noodles drenched in a creamy and flavorful sauce. Braised meat was tasty. This was definitely unique. I would get this again. Both were good but one stood out. I think average pasta dish was ~$35 for one serving. I love coming here for happy hour! Great deals including a glass of prosecco and boozy popsicle (so fun and whimsical). On this visit, I tried the meatball sub on happy hour and I will certainly be back for this beauty. The meatballs are homemade and packed with flavor. Perfect meat to bread ratio. We went for brunch and I got the cinnamon rolls and a breakfast sandwhich. The sandwhich was decent but the cinnamon rolls were raw on the middle and dry on the outside and the icing was reminiscent of sour cream. They didn't charge me for the cinnamon roll and the server was very apologetic. The patio was nice and I would go back and try dinner but I don't recommend their brunch. read more

Haven't visited in a few years as we live in Longmont. Forget how excellent it is! Both the pizzas and pastas were spot on. Service was spot on and the restaurant is super cute. Went here for Denver restaurant week since their $45 three course menu looked to be one of the best values. I thought the dishes were generously sized (some may have been a tad smaller than the regular menu but appropriately so given the pricing). Between the two of us we got to try 6 dishes and thought the appetizers and pasta/pizza were phenomenal but the entrees didn't impress as much. The pasta is very clear housemade and cooked well. The wood fire pizza was the thin and doughy style I love. The oso buco (beef short rib) was not the tender fall of the bone meat I was hoping for and a little tougher than expected. The place itself is in the smaller side and very tightly packed. We were seated near a big window and it was quite chilly to the point my husband wore his jacket the whole mean (and I just sucked it up). As for most trendy spots, it's quite loud inside. Could not recommend this place enough! Went during happy hour, which is only provided in their bar section inside. Their happy hour was great! Most times happy hours have limited food selection and we were surprised at the several options they had. We got the cheese pizza and added pepperonis for a charge. We also got the friend ravioli, salad and meatball sub. The portions are big! You can easily just get the salad as a meal. The meatball sub was big as well, liked that it came in a soft bread! What we got was enough for 2 people. They also have drinks during their happy hour! The ambiance is great, has a small patio section and has community tables with enough space. You can order the cheaper options off of the happy hour menu and then stay and add on anything you want from the dinner menu which starts at 5. My favorite thing was the spicy scallop pizza. I've never had a pizza like it and I loved the combination of flavors. Everything else was also fantastic. The garlic bread is a must. Italian American food isn't one of my go to cuisines, but this spot impressed me and I would love to go back to try more of the menu. read more

Delicious Italian food and swift service accompanied with underground hip hop classics. What's not to love? My wife and I went to Bar Dough to celebrate our anniversary. We made reservations online for their dinner menu which starts at 5:00 PM. Thankfully we got there a little early so we were able to order the Fried Ravioli, Cacio e Pepe, and the Insalada at happy hour prices. I'd recommend you do the same just to save a few dollars, as the portion sizes are the same. For dinner, we ordered Garlic Bread and Spicy Scallop Pizza. Both excellent, my favorite savory dishes of the evening. And then to finish everything off we shared a Butterscotch Budino which was unbelievably good dessert. read more

Delicious handmade pastas, well seasoned meatball and the most unique hazelnut tiramisu we've ever had! We were seated pretty quickly on the high tops (reservations typically recommended). It's a very cute trendy Italian spot with dim/fun lamps and decor. We saw a lot of people there for date nights! I was absolutely obsessed with their hazelnut tiramisu that we even took one to go. Definitely a must try! Not pictured are some of their drinks (limoncello, margaritas etc) but keep in mind the cost does add up pretty quickly! We went last night to Bar Dough and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We arrived just a few minutes before 5 which earned us a quick view of the Happy Hour options. We got the Plum Margaritas and the charcuterie board, the meatball sandwich and the cacio e pepe. Everything was delicious and the charcuterie (3 types of Italian meat including some pepperoni with decent heat, olives, pickled veggies, and almonds) was worth twice the price. We also ordered a second round of drinks and got the maraschino margarita and a blood orange margarita. The blood orange was the hit of the night. They also had limoncello and espresso flights that looked awesome. I'm docking a star for the timing of the orders. The server was amazing but the drinks showed up 30 minutes after we ordered them. The server apologized for the wait, but the restaurant was half empty and both bartenders managed to fit a break in between when we ordered and when the drinks showed.... no bueno. And, the meatball sandwich showed up a good ten minutes after my pasta did. We won't complain for happy hour prices but if I had ordered the full range off the menu, I would have been mad. Hoping it's a one time thing and we plan to give them another shot in the future because the food was so awesome. read more

Food: We got - (1) Focaccia garlic bread (and a $3 side of marinara) which was phenomenal but silly to charge that much for a dipping side (I did expect this when he asked if wanted something to dip but 1.50 would have been more reasonable) (2) Wood fired prawns which were huge but I personally didn't like. They do come with the head (not a problem for me) but my complaint was I just don't prefer shrimp in marinara sauce. Seemed a bit off flavor wise. (3) Bucatini All Americana which was perfection. Have you heard about Bar Dough's Omikase Nights? Bar Dough has started hosting these fun chef's table events for two nights per month, usually on either a Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday evening. Chef Steffy is a talented chef, educated and experienced in Italian cuisine, particularly pasta and pizza. Bar Dough has a wonderful pizza oven from Italy, and there is a bar, or chef's table that butts right up to the oven and pizza creation space in the restaurant. On these Omikase nights, 6 lucky patrons will belly up to the bar (don't worry, there are seats), and talk with Chef and her assistant while they make, bake, and serve a variety of pies right in front of you. They are amazing to watch, and have so much knowledge! You will learn about Italy, the restaurant, the chefs--ask them anything! They love to interact with their guests. Come hungry, as you will start the evening with some of their home-created charcuterie, and then watch the creation of and eat four different types of pizza plus a dessert pizza. They also served us a crudo as a palate refresher in the middle there somewhere. If you are there on Wine Wednesday, they will have a wonderful bottle of wine available at 1/2-price, which will pair beautifully with your pizzas. Best of all, after eating your weight in pizza, they chefs will ask you to come behind the bar and make your own pizza to take home. They guide you to form the crust and add the toppings of your choice. Everything is uber fresh, and they have started their own garden on-site that will be fully established by next year. Chef will help you master getting that pizza onto a peel and into the wood burning oven. You will also be guided in personally removing your pizza from the oven when it is perfectly baked, hopefully with some char marks from the hard oak logs. Chef loves a full party of 6, but is happy to accommodate smaller parties, too. If you attain the coveted reservation, be sure to be interactive, asking them anything and everything you've ever wanted to know about making pizza at home so that you can take your newly-learned expertise with you and create your own masterpieces in your own space! I consider this a must-do experience! Stay vigilant on reservations, as once they are released each month they will fill up within hours! read more

Absolute five stars for the pasta here! I think you could probably order any pasta off their menu and still love it, excellent pasta preparation. We also got the Verde pizza which was refreshing and had a good crunch to it and our friends got the 3 cheese pizza which was decent. All in all, good pizza and pasta at bar dough! We got the salsiccia pizza - the crust is lovely, almost tastes deep-fried as they run oil over it as soon as out of the pizza oven - and the orange honey is uniquely delicious. The restaurant space is super chic and cozy. It does feel more like a cocktail bar than a pizzeria. Lots of high top and bar seating, which gives the small footprint plenty of seating to help when you forego a reservation for spontaneity. CONS: The salad, the only green on the menu, is a miss. Oil on lettuce does not a salad make. They do have kitchen counter seating that I'd avoid. My husband and I were excited to sit there over bar seating, as we didn't have reservations, but we sat on the edge and had a straight line view down the galley and were back to back with running servers. Nice, small spot with not so great parking. Definitely allow yourself time to find a parking and walk.. with that being said we made reservations on a Monday night, we were seated promptly. Most of the seating is shared tables with bar stools so if you're looking for privacy or a quiet date, this probably isn't the spot. We ordered the garlic bread as an appetizer, which is one slice of delicious bread. We then added a pizza and a bowl of pasta. The pizza was delicious it Came out first with crispy thin crust, & good flavored toppings. The pasta was a pretty small portion so if you're a big eater, I definitely recommend the pizza for around the same price! The food was mediocre, the service was poor, and the atmosphere was uncomfortably loud for such a small space. I ordered the tortellini, a main dish for $27, which consisted of only eight pieces -- over $3 each. They were not "al dente" but simply hard and stale. The pizza was so spicy it was difficult to swallow. Our party of four ordered three pizzas and my tortellini, totaling $132 without drinks or dessert -- quite unreasonable for the quality received. To make matters worse, the dessert I wanted (tiramisu) was out of stock. The waiter, who wore a mask throughout service, was asked to provide three separate checks but instead combined the two younger guests' meals onto one bill, they are cousins not a date. This was awkward & uncomfortable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Great location and ambience. Staff is fantastic and very attentive. They make the experience. But the food fell flat. Caesar salad is shaved Brussels sprouts but dry, lacking any kind of Caesar dressing. Very lemony, not much else. Meatballs were good, light and fluffy. Sauce was decent flavor. We had the chicken piccata as a main with the bucatini. The chicken was over cooked and dry, the pasta was dry with sauce at the bottom of the dish. I had to mix it and it was still under sauced. The bucatini was good, properly sauced. Wine was great, and well priced. Suggested by bartender, a Sangiovese was well balanced. The cacio e pepe is likely the best pasta I've ever eaten, and a top 5 item I've eaten in Denver. The rigatoni was perfectly cooked with a nice chew to it, and the sauce had just the right amount of richness and cheesy goodness. I will crave this dish every day for a long time! We also got a pizza. Unfortunately I don't remember the name, but it was one of the rotating options and had figs, kale, balsamic, ricotta, and a meat. The crust was great! I didn't love the pizza itself, it oddly tasted like Pad Thai (my partner agreed!)....I love Pad Thai so that is not a complaint, but just a bit unexpected and not sure how the ingredients combined to produce that flavor profile. I'd totally come back and try the margherita -- I saw several come out of the kitchen and those looked incredible! The arancini were fine, nothing to rave about and a bit small for the price ($4 each for about a golf ball size) and didn't taste like much more than a mozzarella stick, but still enjoyable. The atmosphere was cool and trendy and service was pretty good. I don't love when restaurants automatically add a service charge to the bill.... even if I was going to tip the same amount anyway, I think tipping should be at the will of the customer, and the onus is on the restaurant to pay living wages to staff. Overall a very solid meal, and if you're considering coming here and you like pasta and cheese, you must come and get the cacio e pepe!!! read more

Really good duck confit pasta, but so overpriced for what you get at $28 for maybe 6 small stuffed pastas in broth. The fennel salad was good, but not as flavorful as I hoped. Garlic bread was fabulous, crusty and delicious to mop up the duck confit broth. Service was excellent. Nice ambiance, on the loud side. The main issue was price for what was received - value. I got the Lavender Bees Knees which was tasty and refreshing. We then shared the Malfadine Bolognese and Diablo Bianco pizza. I think we both preferred the pizza over the pasta, the pizza was really good! The pasta was good, but we both agreed we would not get another white bolognese in the future. We knew that's what it was and neither had ever tried it before thus the reasoning for wanting to do so, but it was definitely not a traditional bolognese experience and was more olive-y then both of us would have liked. First time here for my birthday. Quite a loud atmosphere for a small cozy restaurant. I didn't mind it because the foods were on point. Restaurant got that dim lighting cozy date night vibe. Firstly, the meatballs are hefty and flavorful. The portion can be had as a small meal. The pizza had an interesting dough texture, a bit spongy and chewy. You can eat the whole thing and not notice which part is the crust! And lastly the cacio e pepe was a bit too bland for me. Our waiter was really tentative despite how busy it was. But that made up for the extra waiting, even though I had a reservation. The restaurant was nice enough to compensate the wait for free drinks. We recently moved to the Highlands from LA and checked this spot out after a day hiking and leaf peeping in Breck (and very hungry). 10/10 hit the spot. The service was great, the cocktails and NA selections were great to start. We ordered the insalata, which had a lovely and unique pepperocini vinaigrette, the spicy white pie (Diavolo?) and cacio e pepe. All delicious. The pasta was off menu at the time, but they still made it. It definitely had more of a mac and cheese consistency, but it was delicious.
