Great neighborhood spot for a casual or elevated dinner. I love to grab a table outside for fresh air (it's nice that the street isn't too loud). There might be a wait but every time I've been, the service has been nice and efficient. Once you find a table, ordering takes place at the counter inside. The appetizers CARRY this menu!! The focaccia with black butter, the meatballs, and prosciutto with chips are a must!!! Every pasta is good and has it's own twist. This place has an interesting setup, where you wait for a table, like a full service restaurant, but once you're seated with a menu, you walk up to the counter to order and pay. Regardless, the service was great, and staff checked in on us to grab plates and ask us how everything was. Absolutely delicious. We had the focaccia with black butter, fried oyster mushrooms, and cacio e pepe. Aside from the batter on the mushrooms being a bit too salty, it was all so good! Overhyped. Pasta was undercooked (beyond al dente) and sauceless. Service is also confusing: waiters will seat you and bring you utensils and your food, but orders, priced at fine dining standards, are placed at the counter with an expected tip before service had even started. However, the restaurant is so understaffed that we waited over 30 mins on the waitlist and only got seated after going up to check on our place in line upon seeing multiple cleared tables. Service once seated was slow, with only 2 wait staff for a busy restaurant on a Sunday night, and I had to walk up to the counter with the empty water carafe to get a refill. We ordered the squid ink cavatelli and the rigatoni. Both dishes came almost 30 mins after we were seated and after a later party had gotten their full meal. The pastas were small portions, lukewarm, harder than al dente, and undersauced, making it a very dry dish. The rigatoni barely had any sausage pieces or kale. The cavatelli was a bit better, as it has some sauce to coat the pasta noodles and made the dish more palatable.  We did enjoy the cannoli, which was fairly priced and had a tasty strawberry cheesecake filling. The manager was able to comp the rigatoni dish after we left feedback and gave us a 10% coupon on our next visit, but I won't be going back. read more

This place was interesting. It's set up like a modern quick(er) service establishment with wooden booths. You will first get seated at a table to look over the menus. Next you will have to go up to the counter and order your food/alcohol and give a credit card in order to open your tab. After you place your order, the food will be delivered to your table. Food: To start, We ordered the house focaccia, and man.. I will be thinking about this later! This was by far the star of the show! It had the perfect amount of crust on the outside while soft and pillowy on the inside. Deliciously salty and the whipped black butter was to die for! I would seriously come back just for the bread alone. For our entrees we ordered the Radiatori and cacio e Pepe. My husband loved his dish (radiatori) but I unfortunately wasn't overly impressed with mine (cacio e Pepe). It just didn't have a ton of flavor. For dessert we got the cannolis to go which were delicious! Overall, we really enjoyed our experience. However, I'm docking a point for 2 reasons. 1- because of my dish lacking flavor and 2- the fact that it was SO unbelievably hot in there. I understand it's the middle of summer but if you don't have any A/C, I would really recommend adding at-least a few fans since there was absolutely no air flow. read more

We came here on a Thursday night and we were able to get a seat right away. It's a different concept. Your table doesn't have a waiter, but it does? They explained that you view the menu from the QR code, and you go up to the front to actually order your items like a fast food counter. And they bring out your food and your drinks. But they still have a person attending to your table so I still ended up giving a normal gratuity. The food was really good. My friend, and I shared a Tuna Crudo, and a rigatoni. The service was good because I drink a lot of water and they kept refilling my water. The only thing that wasn't that great was how they delivered the wine. They delivered it in small glasses versus a normal wine glass, not sure why this was chosen but it does affect the flavor because you can't smell the wine as well before drinking. After a roof top happy hour in Rino we decided to try out Dio Mio for dinner. I hadn't heard much about the restaurant before dining in so I was excited to try it. They had indoor and outdoor seating and we waited about 30ish minutes for a table on a Thursday night. The inside was pretty small, I'm not sure if there AC was broken but it felt stuffy and warm inside which was not very pleasant. Dio Mio had a fast casual dining experience. Whenever we were ready to order, we had to order and pay at the counter. The food was brought to us when it was ready. I don't see many restaurants doing this but it was nice that we could just leave after we were done eating. We got a variety of pasta that included the Cacio E Pepe, Rigatoni, Radiatori and the Cavatelli. I was honestly disappointed in the pastas that we had received. The rigatoni wasn't super flavorful. The Cacio E Pepe could have had more sauce and I didn't taste any pepper on it. Our favorite ended up being the Radiator. Overall disappointed in my experience at Dio Mio. This is not first on my list for Italian restaurants in Denver. read more

If you are hipster this is your nirvana in Denver. Vibrant feel, part dive, part fun. You order pasta at the counter and then it is brought out to you. My Pepe was not anything to ogle over so I did not quite experienced the hipster high of this place. It has not entirely warm either after waiting a while. Really fun place! We visited on a Saturday night and only had to wait around 20 minutes for a table. The hostess at the stand was very kind and up-front about the waiting time, and she even tested that she had our phone number correct for the automated "your table is ready" message, which we really appreciated. The food itself was good! We had focaccia for the table, and I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. The focaccia was a little too salty for me, but the rest of the table enjoyed it. I like the order at the counter! I didn't order pasta here but got the Caesar salad, Brussels sprouts, and porchetta. They were pretty quick with food for it being dinner time (7pm). The Caesar salad tastes like straight anchovies - do not order this unless you're into fish sauce. I like it so it was great but the fishiness definitely took me by surprise. The Brussels sprouts were AMAZING. They were perfectly cooked, and I loved the pickled onions that came out on top. Honestly this was one of the best Brussels sprouts I've had at any restaurant. I also got the porchetta which was fun but it's pretty much pork and cilantro if you ask me. The service is quick and I like the large tables outside. Dio Mio has absolutely perfected the air of pretentiousness, without anything really to be particularly excited about. When I arrived I was greeted by a rude hostess, who was miffed that I was dining alone without a reservation. (How dare I on a Sunday evening!?). I was placed in the far back corner of the restaurant despite plenty of tables being available that weren't toilet-adjacent. The host hurriedly shoves me the menu, which has in big bold letters a *TABLE TIME WARNING!* The menu first explains you can only be at that table for 60 minutes, before going into their whole counter service thing. Considering my table was wobbly, stunk like their toilet, was hidden in the corner, and I had to leave it to order from the counter (???!) because they don't do table service, I would be surprised to learn they have a lot of table campers, but I guess better safe than sorry? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At the counter, I asked for a recommendation, and the staff was raving about their new dish. The pasta I ordered included these crunchy wasabi peas, that I thought sounded gross, but the order-taker was all about it. I wish I had listened to my gut on that one because the dish was frankly just gross. The wasabi peas did not in any way pair with the rest of the dish, and they provided a weird soggy mouthfeel that left a lot to be desired. How this restaurant was recognized by Michelin for its food or service is beyond me. Honestly, if I wanted pasta, I'd go to one of Denver's amazing pasta spots like Coperta, Tavernetta, Spuntino, or any of the others. I'd probably hit Olive Garden before heading back here. At least they have table service. This spot is *highly* meh, and unbelievably pretentious, with poor flavors and terrible customer service to boot. Avoid this spot. read more

Dio Mio's logo is a pair of prayer hands twirling a fork full of pasta. The handmade pasta is house-made with great care. The dishes change frequently as many of the ingredients are seasonal. The setup is different. They'll seat you at a table and once you're ready to order, you'll head to the counter. When the food is ready, they'll bring it to your table, which is either indoors or outdoors. The translation for Creste di Galli is cockscombs, which is what the green crimped macaroni looks like. The duck confit is rich and flavorful. The pasta is served with really sweet Olathe corn kernels from Colorado's Western Slope. There are also small crunchy corn bits mixed in. The pasta is topped with Jimmy Nardellos peppers, a sweet Italian American variety. What's really interesting is the yuzu kosho, a Japanese condiment with citrus and spicy chili notes. The bread is amazing, crackly exterior with a dense pudding soft interior. Plus, wine is half off on Wednesdays. read more

We were invited here by our friends for a chill and casual dinner and we really enjoyed it! We ordered a few drinks which were okay but their food is where it's at. We ordered the charred cabbage and the tuna aguachile as appetizers which were both great! As for the pasta, we ordered the Cacio e Pepe, Radiatori and our favorite of the night - Squid ink Fettuccine. All of their pasta dishes were robust and so fresh. Also, quite a few people seem to hate their counter-service system (God forbid you walk a couple of steps to order) but we actually liked this system. We just ordered when we were ready and didn't feel rushed. We also didn't have to worry about getting a check as you pay at the counter. All in all, our dinner at Dio Mío was very nice and it's also in a great neighborhood for after dinner drinks :P We'll definitely be back. read more

I ordered takeout from Dio Mio last night (November 6) and, while the restaurant's ambience was superb and the hostess handling my order was exceptionally gracious, the food fell short of expectations. About 20% of the spaghetti was clumped together--more like a ponytail than pasta--and although the meatballs were flavorful, the amount of grease made the dish heavy and gave me heartburn. We had just finished a session at the climbing gym and were looking for a place to eat on a Friday night in RiNo. A quick "Google search" found us Dio Mio, and I'm so happy it did! We checked in and were told there was ~ a 15 minute wait, which isn't bad on a Friday. There's not a ton of seating in the small restaurant, but overall efficient & moves quickly. We shared a green goddess salad which was beautifully crafted with an interesting flavor profile of spices, the focaccia with black butter (still not 100% sure what black butter is), & cacio e Pepe. Everything was fantastic, though I found the black butter to be much too salty for my taste. After you are seated, you order at the counter, & wait for your food to be delivered promptly. Service was good, very attentive, always bringing us a new water jug as ours got empty. Menu is unique, not the typical, comfortable Italian food you are used to, so just keep that in mind if you're not a very adventurous eater. Prices are a bit steep (but what isn't these days) but I walked away with about half a dish of leftover pasta. I'd definitely come back here. read more

This place is a MUST! We did not eat at the restaurant; we got it delivered, and I was not even able to eat the food right away because it did not come with silverware. When we finally got to eat the food it was still DELICIOUS! Everything we ordered was heavenly! The House Sourdough plate, Carbonara Verde, Kid's Pasta with chicken (that turned out to be butter noodles and with a breaded chicken cutlet), and Rigatoni! Definitely, order everything! The restaurant even put the bread crumbs for the Rigatoni on the side in a container, SO THEY WOULD STILL BE CRUNCH AND FRESH! The Rigatoni was perfectly spicy, enjoyable but not overwhelming. They brought out some of their house focaccia as well which was deliciously salted. The cocktail was just okay, lacking in some of the flavor profiles listed. Staff was sweet! Definitely an interesting take on what feels like should be a nicer Italian restaurant with their homemade pasta. Order at the counter and then take a seat, definitely odd if wanting a refill on a drink but we enjoyed the outdoor seats. Food wait time is similar to that of a restaurant you'd have a waiter at so threw me off a little too but well worth it. They use counter ordering which is easy but could be challenging for drink refills if there is a long line. We ordered the stracciatella and bread app (subbed no prosciutto for more stracciatella) and it was so yummy! I had the cacio e pepe and my boyfriend had a lamb dish (I can't recall the name). Fantastic service and very accommodating for gluten free allergies. It is an order at the counter style, so tables fill up quickly and there can be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. I will say that they love their spice, so if you're sensitive to slickness, be careful ordering the chicken parm and the rigatoni. Both are solid, but definitely have a higher heat level. Starter wise, the cabbage and chips and prosciutto are good, as is the radiatori. Will definitely be back! read more
