The biggest standout was the papaya salad, which we wouldn't normally order, but glad we got to try it this time. The ceviche, pork wings, and ropa vieja were excellent as well. I definitely plan to keep an eye on where Chef Victor goes next, because his food is to die for. Love their decor as always, with its sense of whimsy mixed with the upscale. Super Mega Bien was delicious! Our first time there, we went with friends and enjoyed having everything family style. The food came out a little fast in the beginning (we prefer to take our time) and we definitely missed any guidance about how the flag was supposed to be used, so that would be the only thing I'd change about the evening. Everything was delicious, and my favorites were the ceviche with house made chips, patatas bravas, and pork wings. Everyone loved their drinks--spicy margarita, red sangria, and a Paloma. We shared two desserts--the Media Luna de Limon for our friend who is gf and df, and the rest of us shared the brownie with coffee ice cream which was incredible--warm and just the right size if you want just 1-2 bites (between three of us) of something sweet. read more

What a deliciously fun concept! Absolutely loved our experience when we brought our friend here for her birthday! It's like Latin American dim sum meets Brazilian steakhouse without the all you can eat for X amount of dollars. Servers come to your table with different items and you can choose whether or not you would like them for the entirety of your meal. There are a few large plates you can order that are not passed around, but it is all meant to be shared. The tapas are not very small portions either! Loves the papaya so much we got two rounds. The ribs were insane as were the papas bravas. Drinks were memorable and so was the service. Love the chill vibe stunning ceiling. The food is excellent! It's dim sum style where they bring small plates out and you decide if you want to take it or not. All of the dishes are gluten free except bread is served with one of the large dishes but you can omit for true gluten free meal. Our faves were the pork wings, ceviche, patatas bravas and croquettes de queso (fried cheese balls). The cocktails were awesome and refreshing- may N/A choices too. Service was attentive and adequate. I will say I couldn't read my menu because the lights were so low and maybe it was the positioning of the corner table. Great food, decent price, but be careful you don't treat with your eyes. This is a very nice small plate (family style sharable) plates venue, and they large portions too. With a group of 4 we had almost every small plate on the menu. Half would get again, a few maybe, and unfortunately some likely not worth it. The pork wings and artichoke were the best of the night, followed close behind the daily special brisket tacos, which i think had the same brisket as our large dish. Definitely recommended. The arepas i think I could have done without. Croquettes were good but not great. But don't let me tell you what to get. Try what your heart desires. read more

Went to Super Mega Bien for a birthday dinner. It's a quaint little spot in the Ramble hotel right next to Death & Co. Being in RiNo, there is ample parking, but depending on the time, a spot can be hard to find. It's a cute little tapas joint meant for family style, and that's what we did. We got a couple drinks and a couple dishes to share. The portions were a little small and the prices a little high. The food was good! Nothing that really shined in my mind, but left happy. Came here for a yummy meal and it didn't disappoint! We started with Chicha Morada cocktails - had never seen this as a cocktail, my boyfriend is Peruvian so we had to sample it. Got the seal of approval! Super yummy and unique. We tried the croqueta starter and ropa vieja. I could take or leave the croquetas, nothing special to me. The ropa vieja however was fantastic, i could lick the plate! And the maduros with it were perfect. We shared the large roasted chicken and it was also delicious and so much meat, way bigger than we expected. The corn salsa was light and refreshing and really paired nicely. The server was so sweet, we hadn't decided if we would want the steak and they had one left so they held it to the side for us until we decided. Luckily we didn't just send it because the rest of the plates were more than enough. The dim vibe and hanging wood embellishments gave it a classy chic ambiance, totallly enjoyable. Super Mega Bien is a cool spot! The place was busy around dinner time so my friend and I sat at the bar. The menu offers a choice of smaller & larger plates, both options great for sharing. Our bartender explained that someone would come walking around with small plates and we could pick and choose which ones we wanted. I really enjoyed this option because we could see how delicious the plates looked. We ended up keeping the first 4 options that came around: Leche de Tigre Ceviche, Roasted Remolacha (beets), Patatas Bravas and Ropa Vieja. It's hard to choose a favorite because each dish was prepared differently. The ceviche had big chunks of tuna and was served in a light coconut milk marinade with avocados and chips for scooping. The beet salad was also light and fresh. The cheese and Jamaican jerk weren't overpowering so the beets remained the star of the show in that dish. The toasted sunflower seeds were a nice touch. The patatas bravas and Ropa Vieja were a perfect balance to these lighter dishes. Both of these dishes were so flavorful. The chorizo served with the potatoes was probably my favorite. It was the right amount of chorizo which was almost a sauce for the potatoes but without the grease. And the Ropa Vieja is a delicious mix of rich flavors which make it the perfect comfort food. Sitting at the bar was the perfect choice for catching up with my friend but the entire place had a great vibe. I would highly recommend checking this place out with small groups who love to share. It may be because I am from Miami and have a plethora of fresh, authentic, and delicious Latin cuisines available at every corner, but this place did disappoint a bit. The food was good- just that. There was nothing that stood out to me. We tried every small plate on the menu, the large plate (churrasco) and the cheese balls (side dish). I will say the concept is very, very interesting and something I definitely enjoyed experiencing. The rules they have on their website are to not linger and they certainly have a menu that can support that. We started with papas bravas, artichokes and the croquettes. Then we moved to the ropa vieja and it was so good we ordered it again. That and the croquettes were repeats. We also added in a side of plantains which were crispy and oh so perfect. Super mega YUM! A group of us came here for a late dinner after a work conference in downtown Denver. This is a great place for a social dinner, with their tapas style menu perfectly suited for a shared meal. Lots of options for all palates and plenty of veggie choices for those who prefer to skip the meat. We especially loved the paella, ceviche, and ropa vieja, but honestly every dish we ordered was great. The fried plantains were a favorite (because of course they are!), and the Brazillian cheesy bread side was good too. My only gripe is they couldn't sit our party of 8 at one table (we did not make a reservation ahead of time - perhaps this is doable with a little foresight!), so we got two four-tops next to each other. This place SLAPPPPS. Not only are the vibes all there, with the music, dim lighting and decor, but the food is fire! There are soooo many small plates to choose from and I have never been disappointed in any. Upon my last visit, we couldn't even decide which was our fave. They serve everything dim sum style, which is super fun because you can choose what you want right as the cart goes by. They don't do the carts on nights when the dining room isn't fully loaded (which I saw someone was disappointed about) but that just means they are trying not to waste food and be economical and sustainable, which are both good in my book. Plus you can order any of the same food and it comes out piping hot right to your table and ready for your belly. :) Now... what to order you ask? It goes without saying, you MUST get the Arepas. This is a tried and true small plate that is always delicious. They also change their menu often, but this and the patatas bravas (also good), always stay on. Any of their salads are good as well. Last time we tried one that was made with butternut squash and goat cheese. AMAZING. We also enjoyed one of their larger plates that is a bigger portion, featuring pork shoulder, served with tortillas so you could make your own tacos. Did someone say TACOS?!?!? They have a special every Tuesday night where you can get 2 tacos and a shot of tequila (or upgrade to a marg - I prefer spicy) for $18 bucks! Honestly, if I lived closer I would be here every week. What a fun concept! Like a dim sum restaurant the staff comes around with a tray of appetizers for you to select from, they mark the card at the end of you table to keep track of what you eat. You still have a waiter that takes you drink and main entree order. The tune ceviche was amazing I would have eaten a few more of those but we had two main dishes coming so I refrained. We got the rice and chorizo as a main dish. But the best dish we had were the patatas bravas! The menu rotates so I will be back! read more

Let's start with the positives. Food is very good and the ambiance is great. That said, the food service is confusing and awkward. Our server explained that we don't need to order from them for the small plates and they would be by with cart where we could select the dishes we wanted. Someone brought a tray of small plates but seemed annoyed that we only selected one dish of the 3 displayed. A short while later another tray was presented and again the annoyance that we only took a couple of plates presented. We were then told that the dim sum service was being stopped and we then had to order from our server. I think the concept is unique but the execution is not ideal. I would suggest they remove the dim sum concept. We would have ordered more plates and had a more enjoyable experience. Overall I recommend the food. read more

My wife and I have had SMB on our list for several months. Something always gets in the way of making it there. We had friends from Canada in town and SMB seemed like a great choice for something unique. When we arrived, we were told they wouldn't be using the dim sum carts because they weren't very busy. That was disappointing, because that's part of the uniqueness. Our server was very friendly, and she explained the menu to us, saying that the dishes are served family style, and meant for sharing. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but when I hear the words "family style", I'm thinking the portions will be enough to share among 4 people and each have a decent portion to appreciate the flavors. We weren't told otherwise. We ordered the Arepas de Queso, at $12, and the Pork "Wings" at $14. There were 2 Arepas on the plate, probably about the size of a small to-go cup lid for reference. We were a little shocked. I cut them in half and we each had a small bite of the Arepas. What we had tasted good, and I think there might have been some kind of freeze dried corn as a garnish. The pesto was tasty (there was a LOT on the plate). The "wings" arrived with 3. They were REALLY spicy; there wasn't a spice level on the menu. Had there been, we'd have chosen something else since our friends don't like spicy food. The pork tasted like it had been warmed up from a previous day. It wasn't very good. We added the croquetas at $12, which came with 3. They were pretty crunchy and a little hard to cut. We divided them as best we could. They were just okay. I've had a lot better. For our large plate, we chose the Churrasco at $35. I've been to Brazilian steakhouses, so when I read the word "Churrasco", I expect a larger portion. Not so fast. I think all 4 of us were really offended at the lack of food on our tray. 2 SMALL portions of steak for 4 to share, (it was well-prepared), 5 thin pieces of chorizo sausage, 2 pieces of flatbread about the size of a skinny cracker and a nice portion of tomatoes. And FOUR fingerling potatoes: not sure whose fingers they used for measuring those. FOUR POTATOES, probably about the size of a toddlers big toe. Not kidding. We were planning on having dessert, but decided to get our money's worth on delicious ice cream at Sweet Cow. The bill was $100 with a tip. I could take that $100 and replicate that meal at home and still have $85 left. There was a point during our meal, where the cooks were standing around visiting, and one was on his phone. We were seated near the kitchen. I just can't describe how disappointed I am. And I was a little embarrassed since I had been talking up SMB for days. The decor is nice, but it's really dark inside once the sun goes down. I like to be able to see my food when I'm eating. Could be the reason why the chorizo looked really gray. Maybe we chose a bad night, and this is the exception not the rule. We'll never know. read more

We were told it would be dim sum style and that people would walk around with plates and that's how we order. However, it only worked for the first 2-3 dishes and then there was nothing for a long time. Finally someone came and asked us if we were waiting on anything and we said yes, for more food to come by... and she said maybe we should just order from the menu. So I wasn't a fan of the confusion and inconsistency here. Pick one method please. Pork belly- my least favorite dish. Just not a fan at all. Ropa vieja- this was very tasty. Tasted just like what I get at cuban restaurants Patatas Bravia with chorizo- this was fantastic. Lots of flavor. Mole tuna ceviche- this was just OK. I would not get again Overall it was alright. What a neat concept! A friend of ours was mentioning a dim sum style restaurant and so we had to check it out. We were thankfully seated quickly outside for a party of four on a Saturday night! Super Mega Bien's name pretty much says it all. It's SUPER MEGA GOOD. So well done to whomever named it and super well done to the chefs making it stand up to its name! My husband and I came here for our 4th wedding anniversary and just loved our experience, minus the hostess. When we arrived we were told there was side by side seating in the bar open (even though we could see several available tables in the dining area). When I asked if we could sit at one of those the hostess rolled her eyes and said let me check. When she came back you could still tell she wasn't thrilled with my request but did seat us. Everything after that was fantastic! Including all the servers that stopped by to either give us the scoop on the menu, ask if we wanted another round of tapas, or the main waiter checking in and bringing us all our food. I got a spicy marg and it was indeed spicy! Thank you for actually making it icy since most places just don't. My husband and I then shared 3 tapas: arepas, plantains with pork and olive tapenade (Ropa Vieja), and the croquettes. My husband and I both agreed the arepas were the best with the plantains coming in a close second. The real star of the show though was their whole fish.
