Started with the Cubano (roasted carnitas, pickle, jalapeño, swiss, mustard, ham) and honestly could've just stopped there, it's that good. Didn't stop there though. The Al Pastor sausage is made in-house, which you can tell the second you bite into it. Fried Chicken Sandwich has a salsa macha on it that I'm still thinking about. Even talked myself into the beet salad, which is not normally my thing, and it converted me, pumpkin seeds and pickled cherries on it. Also worth knowing, they share a building with Grow + Gather, an actual rooftop farm, and a lot of what's in the salads comes straight from it. Went to Work & Class in Englewood for a couple of friends' birthday celebration. This is a really great venue for a larger party as the dinner menu is built upon family-style sharing. We ended up ordering a bunch of different items that would match all the different tastes we all had. Our server recommended 3 meat orders for the 6 of us, as well as 7-8 sides/appetizers. She was absolutely correct about portions and ordering. There was so much to choose from, but the highlights for me was the carne asada with chimichurri, Colorado lamb, twice baked mashed potatoes, shrimp ceviche, jalapeno cornbread muffins, and the seasonal vegetables. Really, everything was very good, but these were the most tasty to me. We ordered off of the happy hour menu, which runs from 5-6pm daily and does have some good deals. The majority of our order was off the dinner menu. Those in my group really liked the cocktails they ordered as well, but at times they waited 20 minutes for their drinks. Our waitress was very knowledgeable but had her hands full with many tables so we did not always get the best attention. My friend and I came on a Friday night. We got the mashed potatoes, plantains, the lamb, the pork, and the biscuits. The biscuits were heavenly. Soft on the inside and a bit of crunch on the outside. Paired so well with the meat. The plantains were also crispy on the outside and sweet on the inside. Tasted delicious with the sauce on the side. Mashed potatoes were so soft and creamy. We weren't very sure about the lemon crema though. Props for trying something new and different. The lamb is always a favorite of ours from their OG location. Had to get that! My friend also tried the chimichurri margarita. We liked it! Very special with a kick at the end. Service was a bit slow. It took a few minutes for someone to help me when I first got there. It also took us over 30 minutes to get the check and pay. Maybe there was something we were supposed to do differently? The traditional mashed potatoes were a special and DELICIOUS (says the half Irishman)...they need to be added to the menu full time. Nice cocktail selection, and house wine list. Desserts were rich and tasty...also shareable. Get the pudding and the cheesecake. Service was friendly, but inconsistent (and why the missing star). Very cute spot for brunch. Food was good and pricing fair but it took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive from we ordered it which was challenging with a toddler. We did have multiple waiters come and check on us. The salmon square meal was delicious: a small piece of salmon (nice and crispy on the outside with a mildly spicy seasoning) which came with generous side of roasted sweet potato, brussel sprouts and pepitas, the biscuit was perfect and there was a small side salad with cherry tomato's. Pork breakfast burrito was great value for $11. Fries alone weren't on the menu but we got a side which was $6 for a large portion. Finished with the bread pudding skillet which was delicious and we were barely able to finish it. They have both outdoor and indoor seating. We made a reservation for a Sunday but it wasn't needed. I drive by this place every day going to work and finally decided to stop in to have lunch. I came with my om and Aunt and we all loved our dishes. I had the lemon chicken and it was very good! The lemon flavor definitely popped and it tasted amazing! My mom and aunt had the burger and caprese sandwich and both were very good as well. They give you a proper serving size as well for food so don't come in expecting to have a plate with 5 pounds of food on it like most places. I love the atmosphere in here as well because they have a mini green house filled with herbs they grown in the back that was really neat. Our server was very kind as well and she was very attentive!. My family and I tried this location out after hearing great reviews of the other locations. The food was great but everything portion wise is on the smaller side. It is served family style and is intended to be shared among the table. My only complaint is that parking is limited! There is quite a bit of street parking and a parking garage nearby, but not a lot directly in front of the restaurant so plan ahead if you are planning on dining at this location! read more

I was not as excited to dine here but last Friday when I did - this place truly exceeded expectations! This place was packed on Friday evening as you can imagine. The rustic ambiance, filled with lush plants and framed by huge windows, makes this spot especially inviting for a relaxed brunch or lunch. I got the basil sour which was fresh but a little more basil would have been nice. Our server - who was so sweet - suggested we get the jalapeño corn bread along with shrimp and grits and that side just made the grits perfect. The shrimp was so fresh and nicely deveined - I am picky about seafood but this just hit the spot. I got the quarter portion chicken along with a side of plantains and OMG this chicken looked and tasted so damn good!! This has to be one of the well cooked and flavored chicken I've had in a while. My husband got the trout and he said that was really good. Our server actually deboned the trout for him - just excellent service overall! For desserts, we ordered the lava cake with orange mascarpone but I wished the lava cake was more gooey. The orange mascarpone is a nice addition. This restaurant is chic and modern with lots of great bites and delights. The menu is so gluten free friendly and plenty of options if you are dairy free as well. Slightly disappointed by this restaurant! Some parts were stellar while others left me confused. I got their box salmon lunch, which included a "roasted vegetable side". I usually don't care and eat any roasted veggie side, but this was the oddest combo I've ever seen at a restaurant. It was grilled grapes, black eyed peas & green beans mixed together. Just not my thing. My salmon was under seasoned. It also came with a house side salad but they didn't provide any dressing, it was just lettuce and cut up tomatoes only. The mascarpone biscuit was by far my favorite party! They also did not have any rotating beers currently, only 4 to choose from so we thought that was odd. I was so excited when I saw Work & Class opened a location in Englewood. I've been to the original in Five Points and it was amazing. Even better, they now take reservations. I went with two girlfriends and we ordered the massive attack salad, empanadas, shrimp and grits, and the jalapeño cornbread muffins to start. Everything was delicious but the empanadas were probably my favorite; the smoked tomato sauce served with them was so good. The massive attack salad was also really good and much bigger than expected; we had leftovers. For the main we split the lamb and the salmon, and then had Mac and cheese, harissa veggies, and goat cheese mashed potatoes as sides. All of it was amazing but the Mac and cheese was to die for. The veggies were also so flavorful. Between the proteins, I think I liked the lamb more than the salmon. I will definitely be back! read more

Firstly --- all praise to our angel of a server Isabelle; literally want her to be my friend. She was so kind and knowledgeable and you can tell she is passionate about the food here (and all her reccs we loved). Secondly -- the food here is just so good; it honestly doesn't make sense how the meats seem so simple yet are so good. We ordered shrimp & grits (has a little kick), the plantains (a MUST order), the mashed potatoes, and pichana, lamb and lemon pepper chicken. Everything was 10/10 - zeroooo notes. We also go the lava cake for dessert which was good but VERY rich... would've been better with ice cream in my opinion. They are changing their menu slightly next month, so we will definitely be back to try that (and brunch!). Also worth noting, the majority of their menu is GF which is pretty cool. read more

This place is COOL! I wasn't feeling a classic predictable Starbucks experience (I prefer a more unique, local small business experience) and this was the perfect place to stumble upon. The service was so kind and very helpful. The energy was a laid back place to chat with friends or post up and work for a bit. I was invited here as a birthday gift and wasn't sure what to expect. It is a neighborhood spot with seating and a full bar. There is a limited selection but something for everyone. The server was pleasant and took our order promptly. The biscuit was hard and somewhat inedible, and the chicken a little dry but I was starving. It also was a small portion, while the potatoes were a large portion ( I love love potatoes). The potatoes were very tasty the chicken was a bit bland (lacked salt). This location of Work & Class opened a few months ago in Englewood. It took over the Grow + Gather kitchen space. It has a menu of classic New American & Latin American dishes. I came for brunch at 130pm. They serve until 3pm on Sat/Sun, close for 2 hrs, then reopen for dinner at 5pm. I got a draft cocktail, Sesame Pina Margarita for $14. Nice sweet drink in a coupe glass. I got a classic brunch item, Chilaquiles with red chile and topped it with pork for $18. Lots of pork and 2 eggs sunny-side up and on a generous amount of tortilla chips drenched in red chile. Plenty of lemon crema & queso fresca. They have a house-made hot sauce you can add for additional heat. I got a 2nd cocktail, a Spicy Bloody Mary with Mythology vodka for $13. For dessert, I got the Chocolate Lava Cake. It took a bit of time to prepare it. It was more Chocolate cream than cake and instead of ice cream, it had a dollop of orange mascarpone cream. Not very satisfying. The add a 3% back-of-house fee for kitchen staff. There is an access issue. The nearby Craig Hospital has closed off Hampden Ave just west of them. I had to take several detours. If coming east or west on Hampden Bypass, turn at Downing, go north 1 block to Hampden Ave and go west. Free street parking on weekends, otherwise 2hr limits. The Massive Attack salad was subpar with Tempura broccoli that tasted like it had come out of the fryer two hours previously. The salad had almost no dressing. We got a Smashburger that likewise was average to below average. The one entrée that we all agreed was really good was the avocado tostada. This is a great addition to the area. Great vibe inside, and I love the unique menu, but it's a bit hit or miss. The shrimp and grits were the standout dish: creamy grits, perfectly cooked shrimp, just the right amount of heat, and a rich, buttery broth that ties everything together. The chickpea croquettes, on the other hand, were a miss for us--nicely composed with a great crunch, but the interior was bland. I wouldn't order them again. The Massive Attack salad was very good with crunchy, slightly fried broccoli. The salmon was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The pork adobo was just okay--not bad, just a little one-dimensional; maybe it needed more of the slaw to provide more crunch. The butterscotch pudding didn't quite land either; the base had an almost sweet-potato-like texture that felt a bit odd. Maybe it's meant to be a healthier dessert option, but it's not presented that way. We also absolutely loved the Costa do Sol Vinho Verde, which had a nice round flavor and a slight effervescence. Overall, we had a great experience and a fun time with the staff.
