Mister Oso immediately became one of my favorite happy hours ever. If you arrive between 3 and 4 pm any day of the week (yes, Saturday and Sunday included) you can enjoy $5 dollar cocktails which is unheard of in this economy. Also the frozen cocktails are delicious and presented beautifully. The food both on happy hour and the regular menu is really good too. The Nachos are a very large portion and the toppings are generous and fresh. The aguachile / ceviche offerings are also top notch and taste amazing. Everyone is very kind and friendly and helped us decide what to order and make food modifications for allergy and preferences. Took us too long to finally check this place out. Sam was our server. He was very friendly, helpful, and patient especially with our toddler. I got an agua fresca and my son loved it so Sam had the bar make a kid friendly one. The food was phenomenal. Perfect portions, extremely tasty and fair priced. It is a vibrant restaurant. The quesadilla was the best ratio of cheese to tortilla. I don't even eat beans and I devoured the side of beans. I recently visited Mister Oso (one of three locations around Denver/Boulder) and enjoyed its Latin American flavors focused on tacos and small plates. The menu highlights "Ceviche, Tacos, Smoke" -- while I didn't see a smoker, some dishes carried a pleasant smoky depth. They have a small cocktail menu but a full bar; I ordered the Cadillac Margarita ($15) -- modest in size but refreshing on a hot evening. Margaritas are also available by the pitcher (about enough for five). Tacos are generally served family-style (you assemble the meat on three tortillas) unless a listing specifies hard shells or only two tacos. I ordered the Quesabirria (two tacos): smoked short rib with onion, crisped with cheese on the outside, arriving piping hot with a little bowl of consommé for dipping or pouring over the tacos. Mister Oso is a fantastic restaurant with a really affordable happy hour. We've been twice already for the delicious cocktails and nachos. Also tried the aguachile off the main menu and a vegetarian taco off the happy hour menu - both were really good. This experience was OK. They have a lot of cocktails on the menu however they are all tequila and they will not swap them out for any other liquor which I found odd. I did ask them to make me a bees knees and they weren't sure if they could do that, but apparently they figured out how to make one so I did receive that. I did not get to order what I wanted from the menu as they were out of a lot of dishes. I am pescatarian so the only thing I could eat here that day was the vegan tacos, which turned out to be a bunch of carrots. They were extremely spicy and undercooked. They were very hard to eat. I did not have the best time here as the staff seemed very distant. Maybe it was just a bad day. I will try again. read more

Mister Oso in Wash Park is a great place to stop in for a bite or a beverage. We sat at the bar for a couple of drinks during their progressive happy hour (the earlier you go, the bigger the discount), which has amazing specials and runs from 3-6pm daily. Happy hour includes both small bites and drinks. Bartending staff are friendly and make great drinks. I had their cold brew Martini with espresso vodka, Tromba Cafeto, vanilla, and cold brew. Went for Happy Hour - it was delicious. Pricey (but what isn't these days). On the happy hour menu we ordered the Gordo crunch -( wife loved it, I did not) Death Bear Nachos were excellent (we ordered no chorizo) the queso is spectacular! Also ordered drinks - margarita, Paloma were good, also ordered the chili chili bang bang which was just ok. Cauliflower wings were fried perfectly. And the sauce/dip that comes with it - I want to smother it on everything and actually ate some of it with the pork tacos - the mojo pork tacos which were superb. Host could not have been sweeter, super welcoming and started the night off right. Our server was very different, super short and rushed us from the second we sat down for our reservation. Drinks were not strong but tasted okay, we ordered guacamole which was different but good, bad chips though. The second the guacamole dropped we asked to order again, pictured are the Al pastor which were a disappointment sadly. Fatty and unflavored which was so sad! The Birria were a hit. We then ordered another drink to then be brought the check, we were still eating. Our server Micheal came back with the receipt saying nothing then snatched our signed copy without a word while we were still eating. We had a later reservation but the restaurant was over half full. I have walked by several times during my morning and afternoon walks. Nice colorful decor with range of seating options. I came for Happy Hour just after they opened at 3pm. I sat at the bar and was served by Shannon. I learned she normally works in Boulder and is here two days a week to get more hours. I ordered the house margarita for only $5. It was ok. I got the Death Bear Nachos with chorizo rojo ($12 + $4 for chorizo). Shannon accurately described the dish. The tortilla chips were thicker and toasted. Not overloaded with cheese or crema. The chorizo rojo added flavor. My 2nd drink was the Tamarindo Margarita with less salt on the rim. Much better beverage for $15. A nice snack with drinks. They add a 20% service charge so both servers and kitchen are compensated fairly. They have a east facing patio that I saw people dining last summer. read more

Huge fan of Senor Bear and a friend lives across the street from the wash park Mr Oso so I figured I'd check it out for brunch before a pool day. We made a reservation for Saturday at 10am though I don't think it was necessary as we were some of the only people there. Top it all off with a 20% service charge that only goes to the kitchen staff and add another 20% for the waitress. Base price pp $46 with all the tips, it's a $65 night for 1 drink 1 app 1 taco plate. Unfortunately this followed my experience in Rino location too. Will not go back. read more

The food was tasty and I enjoyed my lamb barbacoa tacos. This dish felt unique with the lamb cheek and shishito peppers. My pear-ginger drink was good but didn't blow me away or anything. The churros, on the other hand, did. They were thin and crispy on the outside but crumbled easily in my mouth and were delicate and soft too! I didn't really care for the dip, but the churros were really tasty on their own! We made a reservation and got a table for 5 pretty easily on a week night. We've been wanting to try mister oso for a while, but the main location on larimer is always packed! This second location is more spacious, has a bunch of outdoor seating as well for warmer weather. Dropped in for happy hour, got the death bear nachos while we're good and very cheesy (bring your lactaid). Tacos- had birria which was very hearty/meaty, and the mojo (coconut braised pork shoulder with fried plantains (thought this would be sweet but was actually a nice balance and coconut was very subtle in flavor). We'd come back and probably order a smaller portion (we couldn't quite finish the two taco orders with the HH nachos). But very delicious and worth a try! read more

Took my fiancé for an early dinner and some cocktails. Our server, Jeff, was attentive, friendly, and gave us some great advice regarding the menu. The food and cocktails were excellent! The frozen drinks we both tried were a particularly welcome addition. I appreciate that the restaurant takes a creative approach to mexican food, unafraid to experiment with fusion styles, but also providing a few selections that will satisfy the Mexican food "purists." We had a reservation but had to wait a little to be seated. No big deal there. As per the food, delicious! The margaritas were tasty without being overly sweet. The queso and the Brussel sprouts salad were so good! Def one of my favorite quesos in town. The bbq empanada tasted more like a calzone but delicious nonetheless. Good place for Mexican food! Came with a large group of like 10+ without a reservation and they were able to accommodate us, which was amazing. We ended up ordering a bunch of tacos, appetizers, and drinks to share, and they all came out very fast. Tacos come with tortillas on the side so people can assemble whatever they want inside the taco. The coconut rice appetizer should not be slept on since that ended up being everyone's favorite.
