Friendly service, amazing food. This place is really fun decor wise, and feels trendy. It's got a lot of gastro pub influence where the food and drinks feel elevated. There are other influences in the food, such as the dessert being black sesame ice cream, obviously Asian inspired which was nice to experience and tasted so delicious. Tacos were amazing, we ordered pork cheek, fish, and coconut shrimp. The potato cakes also were REALLY yummy. I loved the ceviche and the mint coffee drink. We enjoyed a couple of tastes and drinks from the Happy Hour menu! For our entrees, two people in my party opted for tacos while I opted for ceviche. We sat out at the outdoor patio. There was only one server for the whole patio so service was slow at times. Our server was observant to note that we have a vegetarian in our party and was very accommodating. Our son took us to this little neighborhood place in the RINO DISTRICT in Denver. Unassuming from the outside but inside is a cute, intimate environment with friendly servers and a simple but creative menu. Their speciality is their taco menu of which we sampled the pork mojo with plantains, 2 house hard tacos and shared a spicy Caesar salad. Oh and we started with fresh guacamole and a large ceviche. All were outstanding and totally repeatable! The only hiccup for us is that due to the intimate size, it gets pretty noisy. I wanna love this place because it's so dang cute but it always ends up a little underwhelming. I've given it a few tries now. Getting in is always chaotic. Service is nice and attentive at first and then they kind of just abandon you entirely at one point in the meal. Margaritas are pretty good. I had the cantaloupe one recently and would recommend! I enjoy their salads. Spicy Bear Caesar with Birria was remarkable. Guacamole was a hit. The potatoes were overcooked. The tacos were just okay. Overall, I think this is a nice spot to grab a drink and an appetizer. I'm not sold on having a meal here yet. They get an extra star because I really appreciate the amount of diversity I've seen on their team over the years. This space feels very inclusive. I'll start with the good things... The smoked potatoes were good but needed salt. They have good homemade corn tortillas that do not fall apart. My drink was pretty good too, pineapple, rum tiki inspired drink. The service is not great and not very friendly. We walked in & the host was on the phone, the bartender wasn't making eye contact so I walked up to the bar to ask if we could seat ourselves... still no eye contact. My husband ended up going back to the host to ask if we could sit at the bar. I tried to make small talk with the bartender but she wasn't really having it. I got the curry Maui tacos w/ corn tortillas & my husband go the birra tacos. The birra tacos were good, very flavorful. The mahi tacos were very mild in flavor, my husband couldn't tell what flavor they were. They also had black flakes from the grill stuck to them which were the texture of egg shells, yuk. From the outside the place looks super small but it's pretty spacious on the inside. I mentioned this to the bartender who responded, yep, and we have outdoor seating so we can seat a lot, and in her head saying don't talk to me. Lol. Hmm... Mister Oso is probably a 3.75 in my book. Overall I enjoyed it, but there were some lackluster bits. Let me start with the glaring bad first impression --- the 20% "service fee" that ISN'T a tip. I know people in my party grumbled about it and I overheard the table next to ours saying something about "WTF?" It's supposedly to benefit the staff, either raise the prices behind the scenes or do away with tipping - European style. When you get his with a 20% fee it disincentivizes tipping well. The interior was really cute. It just had this fun feel and I think that carried over into the energy of the patrons. The place was a buzz on a Saturday night. It did get really loud, which made conversation tough. Happy hour pricing for food and drink throughout the week - which is nice. The michelada was weird. I definitely wouldn't order it again. The green chile fries could have used more salt and cheese, they were ok but halfway through just ended up being a soupy mess. Skip the HH double decker (or whatever it was called) taco. It was a one bite dealyo, that was very lackluster and $4 a pop. The chips and queso was great. The queso had this unique peanut matcha salsa. Had just a bite of the short rib birria. Soo soo good. The lamb al pastor tacos were bonkers. One of the most rich and savory taco meats I've ever had. I would probably skip the churros in the future if we go back. The vibe here is pretty interesting! It's got the tropical decor that's a blend of Mexican and Southeast Asian! Even some of the ingredients in the dishes we tried (case in point: dried papaya in my salad, a pleasant surprise both in taste and texture!) The way the tacos are served was also different: all the a-la-cart tacos are placed on a big tray and all come out at once. I really enjoyed our Brussels Sprouts Salad, it is huge and a lot of work to eat! But I enjoyed the subtle flavors from the shredded sprouts, dried papaya, and almond slices all coming together. The dressing was not overpowering which allowed me to taste each ingredient. There's a ton of chewing so consider sharing this salad. Their signature dish: the coconut rice, feels so very fusioned. I had my doubts but it ended up tasting pretty good. After having these two, I really only have room for about one taco. Whichever it was that I had was not memorable: it wasn't GREAT but wasn't terrible either. That's why I don't remember much about it. Service was definitely friendly; they want you to feel at home. I thought this was ok. We went for happy hour. Our waitress was not super friendly and the first thing she told me was there is a 20% service fee. I guess that is good to know up front. Anyway, my Paloma was ok (after having one a Diablo pozole the day before, it's not a fair comparison because the is the best in the state) I had the happy hour taco and the green chile fries, I'm a native so love a good green chile, it was ok. The taco was different with the wonton shell but the inside was not flavorful. My niece has the birria tacos and she said it was good. Her friend had the quesadillas of the kids menu (lots of allergies so not a lot of regular menu options for her) and it was a generous portion, we were all surprised it was a kids portion, and she said it was good as well, they are college students so... lol. IMO, this is BS, the restaurant needs to charge an honest price. Went here for happy hour after work with a friend and it was AWESOME! We went in time for happy hour - I got the passionfruit pisco sour (transported me back to Chile) and friend got the margarita. Drinks were delish! We also got the mini guac on HH and each got a mini taco. For mains - we got the watermelon ceviche and mojo tacos. The ceviche was AMAZING - so fresh and delicious. I don't typically have salmon ceviche but it had just the right amount of heat and acid, would love to come back just for this. This is a nice restaurant for some really yummy Peruvian food. The decor is inviting with lots of colors. Our waiter was nice. We got the Al pastor tacos, empanadas, and hard tacos. First a waiter stopped asked us if we had ever been in and I put in for Tuna Aguachile and a kids order for my son. He kind of immediately ran off and we didn't get to put a drink order in. When our food came I asked a runner to ask a waiter to come order drinks. They came back and took them and never came back. After eating our app for a bit and realized no one ever took our food order. At this point we can't find the original guy and asks another person if we can put in food. So now this girl comes and puts order in. She made it seem like the lamb wasn't big enough for 2 and so we ordered chicken tinga and potatoes. The meal came with 6 small Tortillas. The flour seemed fresh and made in house. The meats are plenty to share just 1 meat. The lamb was great. It was Al Pastor style with pineapple and onion. Finally - a place that lives up to the hype & the reviews. Stopped in for lunch with a friend today and had an amazing lunch. Carne asada tacos, chicken tinga tacos, birria tacos & empanadas. The starter was the queso fundido with green chorizo (I've never had green chorizo) it was cooked in a green tomatillo sauce & less spicy than the red - really delicious & I enjoy a nice dip who doesn't but honestly this queso is beyond - it's downright delicious. So much flavor packed in with just the right consistency in the cheese, not overly thick & not at all runny. The meats were delicious, all extremely flavorful & the portions were very accurate per the prices (thank you for not skimping!) the meats came with flour tortillas & a variety of sauces - well each meat came with a sauce the asada with a spicy red sauce & a milder green avocado tomatillo salsa, the tinga with the traditional adobo & some Mexican crema & of course the birria with consome. We all loved the food. The service was OUTSTANDING! Quite literally some of the most authentically friendly & genuinely helpful staff I've encountered. How refreshing. I have been a restaurant manager for almost 15 years, and this is the first time I've been absolutely blown away. Every member of this team is incredible. From the M.O.D., to every other station, this team doesn't quit. The food is phenomenal, The vibe is incredible, and the team is unstoppable. Stopped in for a quick bite, and feels like I've been mistaken for a food critic. My bartender is probably the best I've seen, and I have a staff of 7 back home. I'd trade them all for just one Lulu. I don't think any beverage fell below 2/3 full without her checking in, all of this while she maintained an immaculate work area, while providing the same quality experience to all of her guests. I loved mine I can never drink a whole one- because I find them sweet; These were amazing! I had birria tacos- which were yummy, but my husband ordered the mojo tacos and I was blown away! Fried sweet plantains with wonderfully seasoned pork and pickled chilies and onions- it was outstanding. We also had the broccolini tempura and it too- was excellent. Food Wish the veggie taco was a bit more than sautéed squash. The salsas were all super great and the big bowl of chips was more than we could eat. The best things we ate might have been the beans and the coconut rice. Normally you would not think that the food was the highlight of the meal but it really was. The bar has only a few seats but you can order food there in addition to special drinks. I chose the Cadillac marg and my friend the Verde. Didn't blow me away but they were tasty; lots of ice and a light pour. I ordered the chips and salsa with the guacamole salsa. My friend had the Agua Chile. Both were tasty and satisfying. The Frito Pie and Mini Guac were both delicious, but the Nachos Verde really stole the show -- green chile-tossed tortilla chips loaded with cheese, bean refritos, crema, salsa roja, pickled red onion, serrano, and queso fresco. We came here on a Tuesday not knowing they had both Taco Tuesday specials and happy hour deals - such a fun surprise! The service was spectacular and the waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out what to order. The environment was super cute with an aesthetic vibe that I loved, perfect spot for the aesthetic girlies. We started with guacamole and queso, and both were unique and delicious. The queso had a subtle peanut flavor that was different in the best way, but the guac completely stole the show. Trust me, just get the guac - you won't regret it! The tacos are build-your-own style served with three tortillas and a modest amount of meat, but ordering two taco plates with a side of beans and chips/salsa was overall satisfying for two. We weren't the biggest fans of the Agua Chile dish...the tuna itself was fresh and tasty, but the overall flavor leaned too acidic for us, so we didn't end up finishing it. Mister Oso is one of my favorite regular spots in RiNo! I absolutely love everything on the menu - from happy hour apps (there is a great HH food and drink menu!) to each of the entree options. I personally love their mocktail options - the cucumber - poblano fresco is my favorite! I appreciate how attentive the serving staff is in regards to food allergies. They typically will ask before you start ordering and I've never run into an issue with them accommodating for my food allergies. The vibe is like you're on a tropical island! One of the worst service experiences me and my group have EVER had. The only thing that saved our experience was the food was good. Upon arrival last Sunday afternoon my group was sat and the waitress came up and asked if we wanted salt or tajin for our beverage but immediately walked to bar and made us all feel so weird. We immediately all got really weird vibes. It was super strange behavior. No "Let me check and make sure"...nothing. Then I asked her a question about serving portions and she said "what?" instead of explaining which is the job of the server. As someone who has worked customer service in the airline industry for 10+ years I was pretty floored at her behavior. TOTAL LACK OF SERVICE. Her tone was dripping in passive-aggressiveness. Lots of weird moments from then on. Then she took her break midway through our meal. Thank goodness another server told us the 20% tip was included in bill. We were obviously upset at this point and my friend had to let the hostess who had nothing to do with it unfortunately on the way out but hopefully word got back to management. The real kicker is my friends and I have all worked service jobs and totally get having a rough day, however she should have called out. The bathrooms were gross to the point where someone before me and myself peeked in and just walked away.
