Machete is a whole vibe. One of my favorite spots for steak tacos and freshly made salsas--the flavor and quality are consistently on point. And at around $7 per taco at regular price, they're actually pretty affordable. My only beef? The weekday happy hour ends at 5 PM, which feels criminally early. By the time most people get off work and make it there, you've got about 10 minutes to order. Also, the drinks are overpriced--the margaritas are priced at $15 which is quite high. The location is super convenient across from Union Station, with metered parking and both indoor and patio seating. Service is generally good, although some servers are more attentive than others, especially when it comes to asking about food allergies--which I appreciate. Inside is dimly lit and fun, but the music can get LOUD. For date night, request a table near the windows. Overall, great tacos, good vibes, and definitely worth a visit. read more

Stopped here for lunch on the way to the Rapids-Inter Miami match at Mile High Stadium weekend before last. Easy walk from Union Station. Cool, dark vibe, with neat artwork. Tacos were delicious. I had the vegan Del Jardin and the shrimp Camaron tacos. The squid ink tortillas were interesting! I also enjoyed the Hibiscus mocktail; it was delicious and surprisingly not too sweet. Server was friendly and service was pretty quick. Would stop by here again when in the area, but wouldn't come out of my way. Came here for lunch while we waited for our friend to train in from the airport. We were able to get paid street parking on a Thursday around lunch just down the road. They have many different tacos and a couple other entree items. We sat outside on a hot day but we got a table with an umbrella. The table was a little wobbly but okay. I ordered three different tacos the attachera, pollo rostizado and the Tinga. I really enjoyed the first two and thought they were delicious. I didn't love the chipotle-tomato adobo the tinga was in. We also ordered chips and salsa to start for $6. Sad they don't have complimentary chips and salsa. They also didn't bring out any more chips once we were done with our basket. We stopped in after the Rockies game on opening day and was shocked that we were able to get a table. They sat us outside but put us at 2 tables next to each other. We were told we were not allowed to move the chairs because they charge per chair. Kind of odd, but we made it work. Each table order guacamole and the salsa sampler. It was nice bite to soak up some alcohol from day drinking. Then I heard the server mention that it was happy hour and the tacos were on special. So I ordered a chicken tinga taco. It came out loaded.. I could barely fold it, it had some much meat on it. It was tender and seasoned well. I really enjoyed it. The margaritas were delicious too. Had a quick lunch here, the vibe is very vibrance despite the dark interior. Service was very fast. I'd say the chip were the star of the show, its the type that taste less corny (if you know you know). All the salsas were really bland in my opinion. If you're hitting Machete and you're lucky enough to get Nikowa, just know you're in for a good time. Nikowa took care of us like we were regulars--even though it was our first time at this location. Super friendly, fast with the service, and somehow managed to juggle a packed house while still making sure our table was dialed in the whole night.
