My group of friends decided to try Pony Up after a Friday afternoon Pilates class and I'm so glad we do. When it was originally explained as a French dip restaurant, I'll admit I was skeptical but I'm very happy to say that I was wrong. This place is truly great. I ordered the alameda street and I feel confident saying I've never had a better French dip. The bread was perfectly fluffy and the flavors were seriously surprising. We also ordered the crispy potatoes and just thinking about them again is making my mouth water. The interior of the space was super vibey with disco balls and fun art. Def downtown vibes. Pony Up is a new find for me in Denver. Their happy hour is great - the Boulevardier for only $8 is an absolute steal, and they make it really well. The chips and queso blanco on the HH menu are super tasty too, perfect for snacking while you work through the cocktail list. But the standout for me is their lineup of French Dip sandwiches. They have several different takes on the classic, and although I've only tried one, they all look interesting and seriously delicious. 10/10 one of my favorite bites the entire trip. So so glad I made the decision to walk into this establishment. You go in and seat yourself and the menu is a QR code. Excellent happy hour (DAILY 4-7) and French dips! What can I say? Yelp doesn't lie. We went for an hour or so on Saturday and shared the soft pretzel on HH which was delish, and then also shared the Frenchie. It was fantastic and I would love to try ALLLLL the french dips there. You could eat that au jus with a spoon (and I did!). For drinks, I had the Chinga La Migra - which I loved- and Hubs had the Boulevardier and he like that too! Pony Up looks like a regular bar on the inside, but they crank out some serious food - mainly French Dips but they're not messing around with the hot wings either. We went here looking for a good munch before a Rockies game and definitely got what we were looking for. Starting with the hot wings, they were very rich, tasty and fat. Definitely some of the better wings around. I rarely have French Dips, so I don't have the most credible opinion on them. We got the Chicago and the Saigon, and honestly these were two completely different sandwiches. I thought the Chicago left a lot to be desired, as the meat was pretty bland and not much flavor was coming out from the other ingredients, so the only thing I tasted was the Jus when dipping it. The Saigon on the other hand was exactly the opposite, it had rich flavors inside of it and dipping in the Pho sauce didn't actually do much for it. Reminded me heavily of a Banh Mi. The common denominator between these two sandwiches, the bread, was very soft, chewy and delightful. All-in-all, for what it is, it's a really solid stop that doesn't disappoint if you're in the area and walk in for a munch. They're probably the best option for places that are open late in the area also. But there is a certain amount of hype around this place that I don't think is justified - the French Dips are good but not incredible. I would possibly come back to try some of the other French Dips, but not any time soon. read more

I know some people asked: Note it was 10:30 pm and they did card everyone and had someone wanding people at the food. The place had a cool atmosphere with a disco ball and cool art.
